Brilliant Bollywood Star
Amitabh Bachchan, film actor and politician, screenwriter and television presenter, was born in 1942 in Alahabad. His father is the popular Indian poet Harivansh Shrivastav, his mother is Teji Suri. Amitabh's parents were active in political and social activities. Mother, for example, was an assistant to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Bachchan is actually the nickname of Amitabh's father. This is what my grandmother called Harivansha for his stern disposition. Amitabh subsequently took this nickname as a pseudonym - it was much more sonorous than the surname Shrivastav.
Amitabh's parents sent him to study at Sherwood College, then he was transferred to the Nainital boarding school. The young man completed his studies at Krirori Mal College at Delhi University. By Indian standards, he received a simply brilliant education - not every family could afford to give this to their children.
Every Indian boy has his own dreams and dreams. Amitabh really wanted to become a film artist. Handsome, tall, impressive, with a bewitching velvety baritone, he was created for cinema. While studying in college, he recorded his songs in a studio, where representatives of one of the radio stations noticed him and offered him a job as an announcer.
There were problems with cinema. The producers were frightened by his appearance. Amitabh's beauty was very stern, his gaze heavy. Filmmakers were afraid of this formidable beauty. The most that they trusted him at first was voicing roles.
But those who want will achieve it. Amitabh, with the help of his parents, was able to obtain a written recommendation from Indira Gandhi herself, who strongly “advised” the producers not to reject the young talent. The authority of the Prime Minister did its job, and the young man received his debut, and already the main role in the film “Seven Indians”. The film did not generate much money at the box office, but Bachchan was awarded one of the most prestigious awards for it, “Best Debutant.”
His next film, Anand, brought Amithab a prize in the Best Supporting Actor category. But real success and recognition would come to him with the appearance in theaters of the film “Protracted Reckoning” in 1973. Bachchan played a policeman in the film, fighting alone against the criminal world. This film, in addition to awards, earned him the nickname “Angry Young Man.” It was this film that became the catalyst for the popularity of action, romantic and detective films in Bollywood. In the seventies, Bollywood was ruled by one king - Amithab Bachchan. Bachchan's box office was much higher than that of other Indian film stars. He creates for himself the image of a fearless defender of ordinary people, always ready to come to the aid of the weak and oppressed.
Women in the life of an artist
Back in the early 70s, Amitabh met his future wife. Jaya Bhaduri was a famous actress while Bachchan was in the prime of his career. The actor did not intend to marry, and they were too different, but love helped overcome all difficulties. They got married in 1973. No one believed that this marriage would last long, but the couple lived together for more than 40 years.
Until the mid-eighties, lovers had many problems in their relationships. Bhaduri was depressed due to regular infidelities and rarely left the house. Only 13 years later, the actor realized how dear his wife was to him and returned to the family. Bachchan cheated on his wife several more times, but she forgave him. He always came back admitting that there was no one better than Jaya. And she continued to love, turning a blind eye to all Amitabh’s ugly actions. The couple have two children, daughter Shweta and son Abhishek. The guy is one of the most popular actors in India.
There were several women in Bachchan's life with whom he interacted closely, despite his married status. The longest affair was with Rekha, Jaya's close friend. Initially, the wife did not take the affair seriously, because the actor still showed himself to be a good husband and father. But the romance dragged on, Bachchan’s mother even started calling Rekha her younger daughter-in-law. One day, the lovers got off the plane together, although the artist was met at the airport by his wife.
It is unknown how this love story would have ended if not for Amitabh’s injury during the next filming. He lay in a coma for several days. When Bachchan woke up, he saw Jaya next to him. And then he told her that he would take her as his wife, even if he had to live this life again. After this, Bhaduri forgave her husband, and he forgot about Rekha.
The artist did not seek to limit himself to one relationship. During his affair with Rekha, he was simultaneously dating Parveen Babi, a sex symbol of the seventies in Bollywood. The girl sincerely loved Amitabh; for him it was just a hobby. Parvin abused alcohol and was diagnosed with early stages of schizophrenia. Because of this, many did not take her interview about her connection with Bachchan seriously.
Love of the whole nation
The success was stunning. People's love is limitless. Bachchan's personal charm was genuine - he tried to play every role extremely believably and he did it well. Amithab very quickly became a national symbol of India.
At the Berlin International Film Festival, Bachchan received the Golden Bear prize for his voice-over work in the film The Chess Players, directed by Ray Satyajit, who was delighted by Bachchan's baritone voice. In 205, the film “March of the Penguins” with the voice acting by Bachchan received an Oscar.
Radio work
Amitabh Bachchan, whose childhood biography is not much different from the biographies of thousands of his peers who grew up in the families of the Indian intelligentsia during the period of Independence, dreamed of an acting career from a young age.
For this, he had all the data, from his spectacular appearance and tall stature to a pleasant baritone. However, Bachchan was unable to immediately start acting in films, since during the first auditions he was not chosen due to his very dark skin, which was considered a disadvantage, and overhanging brows, which made his face too menacing.
Then the young man went to the radio, where everyone immediately appreciated his pleasant voice. Listeners immediately fell in love with the new host of the popular program, although no one knew him by sight.
Trouble came from where we didn't expect it
Amithab Bachchan's brilliant career ended as unexpectedly as it began. In 1982, he received a terrible injury while filming the film “The Porter.” Deciding to do without a stuntman, he receives a strong blow to the corner of the table. Result: splenic rupture. Doctors fought for the actor’s life for a long time.
Several weeks of coma. The nation froze, awaiting the outcome. And Bachchan survived. He woke up from his coma and got back on his feet. The creators of the film "The Porter" reworked the script. In the initial version, the hero Amithab died. In the new version, the writers left him alive.
Personal life
Amitabh is married to Jaya Bhaduri and they have two children. Son Abhishek is also a popular Indian actor.
The actor had a long affair with actress Rekha, who was his wife's friend. However, it ended when Amitabh, waking up from a coma, saw his wife near his bed.

To live on
Bachchan then entered politics. Wins parliamentary elections from Alahabad. A criminal case was opened against Bachchan, which was destroyed by lawyers as a complete falsification. The actor runs for the Indian Senate and wins. In 1994, he announced his final farewell to cinema. But in 1997, Bachchan made a victorious return in the title role of the film “The Bringer of Death.” Bachchan has acted in more than 200 films. At one time he hosted the program “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” In 2000, he was recognized as the Film Actor of the Millennium by the Indian National Film Association.
Amitabh Bachchan now
Bachchan has proven time and time again that it is not for nothing that he is considered one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood. By the way, he categorically does not like the term used to call the Indian film industry. Nevertheless, it was Bollywood that allowed Amitabh, with an amount of $400 million, to take 6th place in the list of the 20 highest paid stars.

the fall of 2019, the premiere of the thriller “Revenge” took place, in which Bachchan played the main role. The actor also starred in the historical drama “Hero Narasima Reddy,” which tells the story of the leader of the sepoy uprising. The film “Gangs of Hindustan” is dedicated to the struggle for the liberation of India from the British colonialists. Amitabh, regardless of his age, performed most of the stunts himself; he was injured, but did not stop working.
Career peak
By the end of the 70s, the title of the brightest star of Indian cinema was firmly established with Bachchan, who became the highest-grossing actor in Bollywood. The audience identified Amitabh with his heroes - knights who are always ready to lend a helping hand to the oppressed and weak. Over time, Bachchan became a real symbol of the nation for his compatriots, whom boys imitated and whom parents set as an example for their sons.
Policy
Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, whose biography is already known to you during the peak of his film career, decided to run for parliament in 1984. With 68.2% of the popular vote, he became the representative of his hometown Allahabad. In Parliament, Bachchan supported the policies of Rajiv Gandhi.
During his active career in politics, Amitabh left cinema. However, in 1987, the actor returned to Bollywood. Many considered the reason for this decision to be the loss of Rajiv Gandhi's party in the elections, as well as accusations against Bachchan that he was involved in the scandalous Bofors case. However, on the last issue, Amitabh was acquitted as no evidence was found against him.
Debut
However, Amitabh did not lose hope of getting into films. He used the connections of his parents, who asked Indira Gandhi for a recommendation for him. As a result, Bachchan got the lead role in the film Seven Indians, released in 1969. The film was not a financial success, but Amitabh received a National Film Award for his work in the “Best New Actor” category.
First meeting
The future spouses met in Pune on the set of the film Guddi (1971). Jaya fell in love at first sight, even before meeting Amitabh. As they say, a spark ran between them. However, the relationship began to develop later, already during the work on the film “One Look” / Ek Nazar (1972), as the actor said in one of the interviews. Rashid Khan, a Bollywood star, was then very friendly with Jaya and, apparently, was jealous because he prevented her from getting closer to Amitabh. He was often quite rude to Mr Bachchan on the set of the film Bawarchi (1972), in which all three of them starred.
