Theater career

Immediately after completing his studies at the Moscow Art Theater School, Anatoly Romashin became an actor at the Mayakovsky Academic Theater. On his stage he played in twelve performances, where he performed diverse roles. For example, in the theatrical production “Mother Courage and Her Children” he played Eilif, and in the play “Nightingale Night” he played Timofeev. In 1961, the famous actor starred in the film “Long Day” directed by Rafail Goldin. A new day leads to an understanding of the entire life of the three heroes of this film. Katya, who wants to leave the engineer Roman, played by Anatoly Vladimirovich, wants to work. Peter and Roman understand their mistakes in life and want to correct them.

Despite his simple origin (his father was a worker, and his mother, an Estonian by nationality, served as a maid), Romashin had a “sleek” appearance, thanks to which directors vying with each other to offer him the roles of intellectuals: professors, scientists, doctors, high-ranking military officials. And also princes and even kings. Sergei Bondarchuk’s latest film “Boris Godunov,” Anatoly Vladimirovich reincarnated as the future Tsar Vasily Shuisky.

Few artists had the opportunity to play Nicholas II , and Romashin performed him in Elem Klimov’s “Agony” and the Soviet-Finnish historical drama directed by Sergei Kolosov “Sveaborg”.

The role of the Tsar in Agony, as recognized by the film community, became one of Romashin’s strongest works. The artist played Nicholas with sympathy, creating, as one critic wrote, “a humanistic image of the last Russian Tsar.” That is why film officials put the film on the shelf for a long time. The film was completed back in 1974, but Agony was released only more than 10 years later.

But in life, the famous actor was, according to the recollections of those who knew Romashin closely, a down-to-earth person in a good sense: having bought a plot of land in Pushkin near Moscow, he himself designed a house, planed the furniture with his own hands, even built a stage where he staged sketches with his students ( Professor Romashin led a workshop at the acting department of VGIK for many years). Dmitry Pevtsov said in one interview , Anatoly Vladimirovich’s appearance was aristocratic, but his hands were peasant.

The actor's last film

It is known that the last film in which actor Romashin played was the film “Shadows of Faberge” directed by Alexander Borodyansky. This film was released in 2008. Actor Romashov plays the main male role - Carl Gustav Fab. It is known that the film uses materials that were filmed during the actor’s lifetime. Anatoly did not come to acting right away. After school, his choice fell on the technical institute in Leningrad. Then there was military service. The future actor gave three years to the Soviet Navy, rising to the rank of officer. And only in 1954 Anatoly Romashin decided to enter the Moscow Art Theater School. The course master, Viktor Stanitsyn, liked the performance of a fairly mature young man. Anatoly was accepted. Actor Anatoly Romashin, whose personal life is interesting and surprising, was married five times to three women. The second wife of the famous actor is actress Margarita, who was Spanish by nationality, but was taken to the Soviet Union during the war. The marriage produced a daughter, Maria. It was Margarita that Anatoly Vladimirovich married three times.

Anatoly Romashin’s third wife is Yulia Ivanova, who was born in Kyiv. He met her in 1989 in Chernivtsi on the set of the film “Studies about Vrubel.” Julia acted in films under the pseudonym Julianna Orren and was 40 years younger than her famous husband. In 1997, a son, Dmitry, was born to this union. It is known that a few years after the death of actor Romashin, Julia married again, but this marriage soon broke up.

Actor Anatoly Vladimirovich Romashin died suddenly. The accident occurred on August 8, 2000. He was at his own dacha in Pushkino. The famous actor was cutting down pine trees with a chainsaw, and one old and huge tree fell right on him. Romashin was buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery. And six months later, this dacha unexpectedly burned down.
