Biography

Vladlen Biryukov is an actor from Siberia who became famous after playing the role of Yakov Aleinikov in the TV series “Eternal Call”. After the success of the film, they began to recognize him not only in Novosibirsk, where he worked in the local theater, but throughout Russia. The artist’s filmography includes more than a hundred theatrical roles and about thirty film roles.

Vladlen Egorovich Biryukov was born on March 7, 1942 in the small village of Nikonovo near Novosibirsk. His mother raised him alone - his father Yegor Biryukov died at the front when Vladlen was still very young - his son did not find him at a conscious age.

During his school years, Vladlen was a diligent student and a good student - his mother’s strict upbringing affected him. After graduating from school, the future actor easily gets a job at a local radio components factory. Here Vladlen touched art for the first time, enrolling in an amateur creative club.

Judging by one of the actor’s interviews, it was not a craving for beauty that prompted him to make this spontaneous decision - coming from a poor family, he was not distinguished by his love of theater or classical art. Everything was much more prosaic - participants in this circle were given free passes to dances, which were often organized by the youth committee.

To his surprise, Vladlen Yegorovich quickly became interested in the theater - although he later joked that he became an actor only because of an argument with a friend. In the fall of 1960, Biryukov went to Novosibirsk, where he was able to enter the theater school the first time.

Vladlen Biryukov is an actor from the provinces who became one of the brightest faces of Russian cinema in the 80s of the last century.

Childhood and first steps towards art

Vladlen received his unusual name not thanks to the leader of the world proletariat. The actor’s distant ancestors owned gold mines on the Lena River. Preserving the continuity of generations, the boy, born in the village of Nikonovo, Novosibirsk region in 1942, was named Vladelen. Later the name was given a more euphonious meaning.

A common story for those years: the father of the Biryukov family died at the front, and the mother raised three sons alone. Having received his matriculation certificate, Vladlen came to work at a local radio plant, where his mother already worked. Here he becomes a member of the factory's amateur artistic circle, thereby taking his first steps into the world of art. Moreover, this decision was rather forced, because the members of the circle were allowed to dance for free. Soon the young man became truly interested in theater. And in 1960, a fateful argument takes place in Vladlen’s life with a friend about entering a theater school, with a bicycle at stake. As you may have guessed, Biryukov won the argument by doing it on the first try. After completing his studies and serving in the army, Vladlen Biryukov was accepted into the main staff of the Novosibirsk Youth Theater.

Way to success

The debut for the young actor was the role of a village married guy Sergei, who unexpectedly falls in love with a fellow villager in the film - the opera “Alkina's Song”. And in 1971, the war film “Hot Snow” was released on the country’s screens, where Vladlen Biryukov played Sergeant Major Skorik. The role was not the main one, but after it there were many more offers for filming.

To film the epic film Eternal Call, Biryukov had to fly from Novosibirsk to Moscow for thirteen years. He categorically refused to move to the capital, his small homeland was too dear to him. And until his last day he remained faithful to his native land, having worked at the Novosibirsk Red Torch Theater for thirty-four years.

The role of Alexei Terekhov in the film “The Young Wife” made Vladlen Biryukov very popular among the female half of the USSR population. She will be followed by leading roles in the films: “Everything is fine with me,” “Secret Ballot,” “Order: Don’t Open Fire,” “Order: Cross the Border,” which will become the “golden” time in the artist’s film career.

Favorite of women

Of course, Vladlen’s main love was his favorite job. But where there is a place for popularity, there are also fans. Moreover, the on-screen image of the actor - a real man who knows how to love - was in great demand among women.

Vladlen Biryukov was married twice. His first wife, Lyudmila, is a Novosibirsk television operator. Having met, the young people immediately felt that they fell in love. The bride's parents did not approve of their daughter's marriage; they believed that he would not make a good husband. In their marriage, Vladlen and Lyudmila had a daughter, Nadezhda. After living together for twenty-two years, the couple divorced. Lyudmila could no longer bear the heavy cross of being an actor’s wife and endure all the “joys” that accompany this profession.

There were legends about the novels of Vladlen Yegorovich. Many actresses still talk about him with trepidation. Biryukov’s second wife, Tatyana, managed to find the strength and wisdom in herself to become his support and safe haven for eighteen long years. In the last minutes of the actor’s life, Tatyana held her husband’s hand, refusing to believe in what was happening...

Decline of an artist's career

Proposals for filming will continue to be received by Vladlen Biryukov until 1992. Then new faces will come to the cinema, and he will no longer be offered worthy roles. The actor’s last appearance on screen will be an episode in the film “The Proud Varangian” (2004).

Later, the situation would be aggravated by Vladlen Yegorovich’s conflict with the theater management. The actor openly expressed his opinion about his colleagues, the director, and the theater’s repertoire, until one day there were practically no roles left for him. And then they sent me off to a well-deserved rest. Vladlen Biryukov was acutely worried about the lack of demand in his profession and the separation from the theater, which had become his second home. But his creative potential had not yet dried up and he had something to say to his audience.

The actor wrote poetry, but there was no money to publish them. Despair led the actor along the path of alcohol addiction trodden by many colleagues. For the last year of his life, Vladlen Egorovich was seriously ill. He did not have the strength or desire to fight for life.

People's Artist Vladlen Biryukov ended his earthly journey in 2005 in the city of Berdsk.

Career in theater and film

Vladlen Biryukov completed his studies with honors and got a job at the Novosibirsk Youth Theater. His first role on the theater stage was Vaska Ash from the play “At the Lower Depths”. A journalist from Poland, who was lucky enough to be present at this performance, in his essay called Biryukov a very talented actor and predicted great fame for him.

The prophecy turned out to be true, and Vladlen Biryukov was able to move up the career ladder, turning from a provincial artist into one of the most popular and sought-after artists of the eighties - both in the theater and on the silver screen.

In 1986, the film “The Young Wife” was released on the country’s screens, which became the main and most successful role of the aspiring actor, which made him truly popular. The morning after the premiere, he woke up famous throughout the Soviet Union.

Now he was recognized on the streets and asked for autographs, especially by girls. Representatives of the fairer sex went crazy about Biryukov. The young and kind handsome man melted the hearts of women and at the same time enjoyed authority among the male population of the country.

In the same 1986, at the Red Torch Theater, he played the role of Skameikin in the comedy “Pleasant Woman with a Flower and Windows to the North.” The charming Biryukov fell in love not only with the spectators - his partner Valentina Moroz also could not resist his charms.

Personal life

Vladlen Biryukov was married several times and had a bad reputation as a womanizer, not denying himself the pleasure of having affairs with strangers who clung to the good-looking actor.

Vladlen met his first wife, a television cameraman from Novosibirsk named Lyudmila Aleksandrovna, when he was a student, during a visit to a pioneer camp. Here she worked part-time as a counselor, and Biryukov came with his classmates from the school to perform for the kids.

Lyudmila, Vladlena's first wife

Lyudmila and Vladlen immediately liked each other, they began a whirlwind romance, and after some time they decided to get married. First they settled with Lyudmila’s parents, and then with their help they purchased their own home.

Despite his marriage, there were a lot of women in Biryukov’s life, but Lyudmila came to terms with this - he was a famous actor with a pleasant appearance and constantly attracted the attention of women. The wife was ready for this even before their wedding and tried to turn a blind eye to her husband’s affairs.

While working on the play “Uncle Vanya,” he became close friends with his partner, the pretty actress Nadezhda Alexandrova. The result of the loving artist’s next romance was a daughter, whom Biryukov refused to recognize for the rest of his life.

The reason for the divorce from Lyudmila was not this affair, but his developing alcoholism and the associated assault. After the dizzying success of “Eternal Call,” he began to drink - when drunk, the actor became aggressive and began to raise his hand against his wife.

Lyudmila said that she forgave him the first time, but after the second outburst of aggression she filed for divorce. This was in 1977 - and although the couple formally divorced, they lived together for almost ten years and continued to share the same bed. In 1986, Vladlen disappeared from home for four days, which was the last straw for Lyudmila. However, the former spouses managed to maintain good relations - Biryukov often visited his daughter Nadezhda.

At the moment, Nadezhda Biryukova has a family and children. She decided not to follow in her father's footsteps and chose a different profession.

A year after the divorce, he met Tatyana Firsova, who would become his second and last wife. She was almost 30 years younger than Biryukov. Vladlen lived with this woman for eighteen years, and they officially became engaged just a year before the artist’s death.

Nothing changed in Biryukov’s life with his second marriage - he was also fond of alcohol and “went to the left.” Tatyana was ready to leave him more than once, but something kept them together, she did not leave him until the end of his life.

Death

For the last year of his life, Vladlen Biryukov was seriously ill. He didn’t try very hard to resist the illness: the artist either agreed to go to the hospital, or personally stopped treatment under the influence of depression.

Vladlen Biryukov died on September 2, 2005 in Berdsk (Novosibirsk region). The cause of death was complications of the disease caused by alcoholism. His grave is in the city cemetery - he is buried next to his mother.

“Do you want my death? You can’t wait!”

Vladlen Biryukov worked at the Red Torch Theater for 33 years. He played more than 60 roles in the theater, more than 30 roles in films (mostly leading ones). When the “Red Torch” flew to the “Golden Mask” festival with Chekhov’s “Three Sisters”, where Vladlen Yegorovich played Chebutykin, almost all the passengers on the flight asked Vladlen Biryukov for autographs, and the ship’s commander left the cockpit to shake hands with his favorite artist.

Vladlen often told his friends that Moscow directors tried to persuade him to move to Moscow: “And I’m a stubborn, stubborn man. I spent 25 years on trains and planes, wandering around film sets, and it seems that I left all my health there. But I can’t give up the Red Torch, it’s like betraying my homeland, you know?” — Vladlen Biryukov explained his refusal.

On March 8, 2002, Vladlen Biryukov’s anniversary benefit performance took place at the Red Torch. This was the beginning of the most unlucky period in his life. There are almost no roles left - only the Mayor in The Inspector General. Vladlen was assigned to rehearse for the upcoming premiere of “The Cranes Are Flying,” but he soon quarreled with director Boris Tseytlin with his characteristic directness and in unparliamentary expressions. When the order “to remove Biryukov from the role” was posted at the entrance, the artist wrote on it: “Do you want my death? Can't wait! And he added unprintable phrases. The rebel Biryukov, who defended his vision of the image, often clashed with directors. Outwardly he was angry, but internally he experienced the slightest conflicts deeply and for a long time.

As the actor’s colleague Valery Tikhonov said, he was not given what he deserved right away. “When I asked the director why the names of other actors were on the lists, but Biryukov was not, he replied: “Let them give the well-deserved ones where they starred and received the State Prize.” They could not forgive that Biryukov was invited to the cinema. Often they wouldn’t let me go: they would give me a small role and demand my presence at rehearsals.”

Tatyana Petrovna still has not forgiven the theater director for such an attitude towards her husband: “Vladlen felt bad after the theater director Alexander Kulyabin did not sign a contract with him. The husband came home that day, not himself, but said nothing. Then I found out: there were no roles for him in the theater. Vladlen quickly faded away after that. When he was ill, the theater director suspected him of avoiding work.

He avoided examinations. When the cancer was discovered, it was too late: stage four. Vladlen said that he was injured in his youth: he fell during a performance on his chest in the very place where a tumor later formed.” He did not resist the illness particularly stubbornly: he either agreed to go to the hospital, or voluntarily interrupted the course of treatment, succumbing to depression. And yet he did not complain to the friends who visited him; in moments when the pain subsided, he still loved to joke around.”

They say that, in addition to roles in the theater, Biryukov was offered to star in TV series, but he refused. Perhaps for health reasons, or perhaps because he understood that there would be no second “Eternal Call”.

PS

His last film role in the short film “Proud Varangian,” filmed in 2004 by the young director Alexander Trofimkin, turned out to be symbolic. Biryukov played an old skipper, written off along with the ship that had served its term. His hero put on his uniform every morning and scrubbed the deck, patched the engine, because it is impossible for a person to live without work.

On September 2, 2005, Vladlen Egorovich Biryukov passed away. His wife Tatyana sadly recalls the loss of her loved one: “Vladlen was simply burned. They burned people who did business in his bright name. He did not see eye to eye with the theater administration, and he was removed from all roles. They only gave him roles in episodes - so that his name would appear on posters. There has already been a case with one famous actor: the director of the theater refused the great actor some little thing. He refused once, he refused twice. And the actor came home, lay down on the bed and didn’t wake up... That’s how Vladlen did - he quietly left, burned out...”

The two wives will meet for the last time at the funeral of their loved one. Tatyana Petrovna complains: “The grandson, when his grandfather was in the hospital, never called and did not come to the funeral. And Lucy and daughter Nadya were worried about inheritance issues. At the wake, the daughter said: “I need all his awards, medals. I have nothing else to do here. There is someone here to look after his grave.”

On the last day before entering into inheritance rights, Tatyana Petrovna received a package. “Daughter Nadya submitted documents to the notary’s office. She demanded part of the inheritance. We had deposits, a decent amount. She was awarded part of this contribution. Moreover, the car was valued at 23,000, half of which belongs to them, but she still has not sent the necessary documents so that she can sell it. The car sits in the garage and rusts.”
