Senya Ferdman was born in 1931 in the Moscow region into an ordinary Jewish family. His father was a military man, and his mother was a pharmacist in a pharmacy. As a child, the boy was only interested in football, but as he grew up, he became interested in theater. Having graduated from school with almost “excellent” marks, the young man was going to enter a theater university, but his parents unanimously said “no”.

Like an obedient son, he submitted documents to the Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School. He was frankly “failed” at one of the exams. His mother went to the Ministry of Education and got Semyon to retake the test. He became perhaps the first Jewish student to enter the Bauman School. The young man realized his dreams on the stage of the student theater.

From his second year, Ferdman deservedly left and went to serve in the Baltic Fleet. There he continued to engage in amateur artistic activities, and before his dismissal he even received a letter of recommendation from the high command to Arkady Raikin . He did not take advantage of the recommendation: his mother convinced him to return to college. Semyon graduated from the Faculty of Power Engineering with a degree in mechanical engineer for boiler installations and worked in this field for 8 years.

He combined work with concert activities. While studying at Baumansky, Ferdman entered the Moscow State University Variety Studio “Our House” under the direction of Mark Rozovsky. The fame of her productions and satire evenings thundered throughout Moscow. Semyon spent every free minute in the “House” and could no longer imagine life outside the stage. When the studio was closed, he went to work at Mosconcert, and then decided to try his luck at the repertory theater.

In 1972, Yuri Lyubimov , artistic director of the famous Taganka , accepted a forty-year-old non-professional actor into the troupe. For almost three decades, Semyon performed on this stage and took a worthy place among such outstanding masters as Vladimir Vysotsky , Valery Zolotukhin , Leonid Filatov, Alla Demidova , etc.

Ferdman made his film debut in 1967 in the short film “Vacation in the Stone Age . And in the next film - “Forward, Guardsmen!” he appeared under a different name. The director of the Tajikfilm studio, where the film was filmed, told the actor: “I will not write your name in the credits. The Jews do not have a union republic.” When Semyon regained his ability to speak, he indignantly replied: “Well, come up with some kind of charade yourself!” The official was not distinguished by a rich imagination. “S.” appeared in the credits. Farad". Judging sensibly that he would encounter a similar situation more than once, the actor decided to change all the documents to Farada.

Fame came to Semyon after his striking role as a trombonist in Eldar Ryazanov’s “Garage” . Since then, he has constantly starred in minor roles and episodes. The actor, who has a wonderful sense of humor, joked that it was time for him to change his last name on “Episade”. Nevertheless, his comedic characters were a huge success among television viewers. Suffice it to recall the guest from the South from “Sorcerers” (by the way, the phrase “who builds like this?” was born by Farada himself after he got lost in the corridors of “Ostankino”). Or the servant of Margadon from “Formula of Love” .

This comedy has come to us not in the form Zakharov : in the middle of filming, Nodar Mgaloblishvili (Count Cagliostro) broke his leg. He sat in his room by the open window and sang with a guitar. A lady passed by and rewarded the singer with applause. Without hesitation, the 53-year-old actor jumped out of the second floor window and bowed before the amazed fan, kissing her hand. The next day, the lover of beautiful gestures appeared before his colleagues with a plastered leg.

The director had to rework the script on the fly and throw out entire scenes. The “servants” who suffered the most were Farada and Alexander Abdulov (Jacob). They boycotted Nodar, which was supported by all the actors. However, the film was a success despite all the obstacles.

In the late 80s, Semyon began to have serious heart problems. Doctors persistently advised him to leave his profession, but the actor actively acted for another 7 years. Among the many roles played during that period, Farada appreciated only one: the tailor Khaimovich in the tragicomedy “The Parrot Speaking Yiddish . This was the actor's only dramatic role and he considered it the best of his works.

He last appeared on screen as a doctor in the musical fairy tale “The Musicians of Bremen” in 2000. Abdulov acted as the director of the film. That same year, Semyon Lvovich suffered a severe stroke, which put an end to his career.

Family

Semyon Ferdman was born in the village of Nikolskoye near Moscow. Semyon's grandfather, Solomon Ferdman, died during the October Revolution long before the birth of the future actor. His grandmother Ita was left alone with three children, a daughter and two sons, and lived in Leningrad until the war. She died in 1942, when she and her children were trying to get out of the besieged city.

The woman’s family got on a ship that was transporting residents from the occupation, but the Germans bombed it just off the coast, then she and her children, who miraculously survived, were transferred to a train that followed the Volga. On the way, Ita Lvovna died of hunger and exhaustion.

Until 1930, the actor’s parents, Lev Solomonovich and Ida Davydovna, lived in Ukraine. Then they moved to Moscow to study. My father became a military supply worker and worked at the People's Commissariat of the Forestry Industry of the Soviet Union, and my mother graduated from pharmaceutical school.

Until 1948, a young family with their son Semyon lived amicably near Moscow. In 1949, their daughter Evgenia was born. Then my father was sent to serve in the periphery in Yaroslavl, where his old chronic diseases worsened due to nervousness. He died in 1952, away from his family, from a perforated stomach ulcer.

After the death of his father, little Semyon took care of his little sister onto his shoulders. The actor's mother died in 1989.

Childhood

Despite all the hardships of post-war life, the boy remained a cheerful, sociable, kind child. He tried his best to help his mother, who, after the death of her husband, raised her children alone.

As a child, Semyon loved football very much, but theater always remained his real, genuine passion. He attended the school drama club, took part in performances and dreamed of entering a theater university. His passion for football and being busy with his favorite stage activity did not interfere with his good studies. He graduated from school with a gold medal.

Entering a theater university remains an unfulfilled dream of the future actor.

Youth

In memory of his father, relatives encouraged the young man to follow in his footsteps and devote his life to the army. Semyon did not contradict them and after school he applied to the Military Academy of Armored Forces. But he did not get further than the admissions committee; due to health reasons, he was not accepted into the university.

Thus, in a veiled manner, he was denied a military education because of his Jewish origin. His mother strongly opposed his training in acting, and in order not to upset her, Semyon brilliantly passed the entrance exams to the Bauman Institute for the technical faculty, specializing in “mechanical engineer for boiler installations.”

Studying did not bring him pleasure, and he compensated for this by participating in amateur stage performances of the institute. Employment in university performances and reluctance to study threatened Semyon with expulsion from the educational institution. The inevitability of this event was prevented by his voluntary service in the ranks of the Soviet army.

He devoted four years of his life to the navy of the city of Baltiysk in the Kaliningrad region. As a soldier, Semyon did not betray his dream; in the army he performed in the Red Banner Ensemble.

After demobilization, he returned to Moscow with diplomas and documents of recommendation, giving him the opportunity to study at any educational institution, but at the urgent request of his mother, Semyon continued his studies and graduated from the technical department at the Institute. Bauman, having received his graduation diploma, and got a job as an engineer.

Long way to the stage

The future actor studied well, he graduated from school with a gold medal. At school, he became interested in amateur performances and, according to his sister’s recollections, he was incredibly natural in the theater group’s productions.

The mother herself was firmly convinced that her son should follow in his father’s footsteps and become a military man. Therefore, the young man went to enter the Military Academy of Armored Forces.

However, the medical commission rejected the young man, and Semyon submitted documents to Baumanka. Here Ferdman mastered the specialty of a technical engineer for installing boiler equipment.

The young man finally ended up in the army. Moreover, he was lucky to be in the Baltic fleet. For four whole years, the talented young man served in the Red Banner Regiment, where he performed as part of a drama group. Semyon Lvovich played small roles in plays. This gave him great pleasure.

After returning from the army, Ferdman worked for quite a long time in his specialty, installing heating boilers. But he didn’t give up his passion for theater: he studied in the studio at the cultural center.

Then he was accepted into the Mosconcert staff. Ferdman never received a professional acting education, being self-taught.

Acting talent

The future actor had to work for seven long years in the specialty he received at the institute. Semyon devoted all his free time to amateur performances and played in productions by students of Moscow State University.

Only on stage did he live a real, meaningful life. At these student performances, Semyon met and became lifelong friends with the future stars of Soviet cinema and theater G. Khazanov and A. Filipenko. At the same time, the future actor said goodbye to his unloved job and boring boiler installations, deciding to devote his life to the stage.

Thanks to his innate talent, perseverance and perseverance in his goal, S. Farada was accepted into Mosconcert.

He very organically fit into the team of professional actors, although he never received training in stagecraft. But this did not stop his theater colleagues from imitating him. Having become involved in the acting life, he no longer needed theater studies. By the age of 40, the artist finally connected his life with the stage, when the talented director Yu. Lyubimov invited him to work at the Taganka Theater.

The beginning of success

S. Farada worked at the Taganka Drama and Comedy Theater for thirty years, he played leading roles in many performances. “The Master and Margarita” and “Hamlet” are the greatest productions in which he took part. The actor threw himself completely into his work, turning the theater into his second home.

The love of the people and all-Union fame came to the actor after his debut on television in the children's weekly program “ABVGDEYKA”, in which he played the role of a kind but sad clown. With his talent he won the hearts of all children and adults.

At the same time, they began to invite him to star in films and offer him small cameo roles. Already, being a film actor, Semyon decided to change his dissonant surname to a better sounding one. He liked Farad's nickname so much that he officially changed his last name in his passport.

In the seventies of the last century, the famous director Eldar Ryazanov invited S. Farada to a small role in his production of “Garage”, and the actor played the proposed hero so well that this film became fateful in his life. And M. Zakharov’s film “That Same Munchausen” finally strengthened the actor’s popularity. These films glorified the artist in all corners of the vast country.

TV presenter

The mid-2000s were marked for the son of Semyon Farada by his appearance on television. He became the host of the health TV show “Exercise for the Whole Country” in a duet with world figure skating champion Maria Butyrskaya.

The program became famous for its high popularity ratings, and the personality of Mikhail Polizeymako attracted the interest of producers of such channels as Domashny and NTV.

Unforgettable roles

The peak of Semyon's heyday and popularity occurred in the eighties of the 20th century. This was the most favorable time in his acting career, then he collaborated closely with E. Ryazanov and other equally famous directors, and starred in sensational films.

“Sorcerers” and “Formula of Love” entered the history of cinema and became cinema classics in their genre. And thanks to the actor’s extraordinary talent, the masterpieces “The Man from the Boulevard des Capuchins”, “A Million in a Marriage Basket”, “To Kill a Dragon” became popular among all segments of the population.

The artist considered his best acting work to be the role of an elderly Jewish tailor from the film “A Parrot Speaking Yiddish” directed by Ifraim Sevela; the film was filmed in 1990. At that time of troubles, low-quality, low-quality films began to be made in the country. He considered Mikhail Kokshenov’s films “Russian Business” and “Russian Miracle” to be the biggest failures in his career.

The actor dreamed of dramatic roles all his life, but the directors saw him as a simple-minded, naive comedian and did not allow all facets of his creative potential to fully reveal themselves. Semyon Lvovich entered the history of cinema as an “episode genius”, starring in a total of more than 130 films.

Semyon's father, adjutant to the chief marshal of artillery troops Lev Ferdman, died early, and the entire burden of raising children (Semyon had a sister) fell on his mother's shoulders. She had a hard time. Although Semyon was an excellent student, he was a real tomboy. After graduating from school (with a gold medal!) Semyon wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and enter the Stalin Armored Academy. But his dream was not destined to come true. In addition to good knowledge, it was necessary to have excellent physical fitness - to have at least a second category in athletics.

0

The documents had to be taken away. The distressed young man took them to the first establishment he came across along the tram. It turned out to be the Moscow Higher Technical University named after N.I. Bauman. It should be noted that, according to an unspoken order “from above,” they tried not to admit students with a non-Russian surname to this prestigious school. But Semyon did it. True, not without adventure. The young man carefully copied an essay on the topic “Stalin is world peace” from a cheat sheet, but the inspector rejected the essay, finding 11 non-existent errors in it. Then Semyon’s mother went to the Ministry of Education and got the work reviewed! Justice was restored, the young man was allowed to write another essay. He received a “B” and entered the Faculty of Power Engineering.

0

While still a schoolboy, Semyon Farada often took part in amateur performances. He even thought about entering the theater school, but, as already mentioned, the young man chose the Bauman School. Nevertheless, a craving for theater always lived in Semyon’s heart. At the Bauman School, he continued to participate in amateur performances, so actively that they even wanted to expel him! It was at this time that he was called to serve in the navy. For four whole years.

Semyon Farada showed his artistic talent in the navy. He led the pop group of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet (which actually consisted of him alone) and performed in the drama group at the House of Officers in Baltiysk. In the play he played the small role of an anarchist sailor. For this role, he, the only one of the Baltic sailors, was given written permission by the military commandant of the city to wear long hair.

Semyon Farada returned from the army with two letters of recommendation: to the director Yuri Zavadsky and Arkady Raikin. But, at the insistence of his mother, he graduated from the Moscow Higher Technical School in 1962 and until 1969 worked as a mechanical engineer for boiler plants at the USSR Ministry of Energy and Electrification. In his free time from work, Semyon Farada studied at the variety theater studio at Moscow State University, where there was a wonderful team: Alexander Filippenko, Gennady Khazanov, Mikhail Filippov, Mark Rozovsky...

0

At the turn of the 60s and 70s, the studio theater was closed. The official reason was announced that the actors had become masters of the stage, and this now does not correspond to the level of the youth studio. In fact, the authorities simply did not like some of the performances of brave young people. After the studio was closed, Semyon Farada was invited to work at Mosconcert, where he became a diploma winner at a pop artist competition. During these same years, he was first invited to act in films. It all started with the children's program “ABVGDeyka”, where he played himself - the sad clown Senya. But soon he had to leave the program: the chairman of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Lapin did not like the eagle profile.

In 1972, Yuri Lyubimov invited Semyon Farada to the Moscow Taganka Drama and Comedy Theater. On the stage of this theater over three decades, the actor had the opportunity to play in many performances, including: “The Master and Margarita”, “Exchange”, “The Good Man from Szechwan”, “And the Dawns Here Are Quiet...”... The play is considered one of Farada’s best acting works "Five stories of Babel." The actor met his love at the Taganka Theater.

0

By the time he entered the Taganka Theater, Semyon Farada had already been married twice. But the actor considered both of those marriages an accident. He found family happiness in the person of the hereditary actress Maria Polizeimako (her father is People's Artist of the USSR Vitaly Polizeimako, her mother is the famous Leningrad actress Evgenia Fish). By the way, before she met Farada, she was also married and raised a son from her first marriage. As Semyon Farada admitted, he insisted that Masha give birth to his son (he had not had children before). After the birth of Misha, Semyon Farada and Maria Polizeimako got married. This marriage turned out to be long and happy.

0

Misha grew up, took his mother’s last name, graduated from GITIS and became an actor at RAMT. Today Mikhail Polizeimako is a popular theater and film actor. Semyon Farada began acting in films in the late 60s. In 1967, he made his debut in the film “Holidays in the Stone Age,” which is practically unknown today. For the next ten years, Semyon Farada (then still Ferdman) acted occasionally in films of various levels, but, as a rule, in episodic roles.

0

In one of the films, Valery Akhadov’s film “Forward, Guardsmen,” the actor acquired his famous pseudonym. The fact is that the film was shot at a Tajik film studio, where the actor was made clear that the name Ferdman could not be in the credits. So Semyon Ferdman became Semyon Farada. Moreover, after changing the surname in the passport, he redid the marriage certificate and birth certificates. By the way, many people put the emphasis in Semyon Farada’s surname on the last syllable, while the actor himself argued that this is a mistake and the emphasis should fall on the second syllable.

0

The real discovery of film actor Semyon Farada took place in the late 70s. In 1979, two brilliant films were released at once: Eldar Ryazanov’s comedy “Garage”, where the actor played a trumpeter musician, and Mark Zakharov’s film parable “That Same Munchausen”. After these films, offers to Semyon Farada rained down like from a cornucopia. Directors mainly used the actor's comedic talent. He starred in such famous films as “The House That Swift Built” and “Kill the Dragon” by Mark Zakharov, “Be My Husband” by Alla Surikova, “Premonition of Love” by Tofik Shakhverdiev, “The Magicians” by Konstantin Bromberg, “A Million in the Marriage Basket” Vsevolod Shilovsky and others. One of the most successful comedic works of Semyon Farada is his role in the ironic melodrama “Formula of Love” by Mark Zakharov. And the pseudo-Italian song “Uno Momento,” which Farada performed in this film with Alexander Abdulov, became a real movie hit for many years.

0

The actor himself considered his best film role to be the kind elderly tailor from Ifraim Sevel’s tragicomedy “The Parrot Speaking Yiddish,” filmed in 1990. In the early 90s, the situation in the country changed seriously. In the new conditions, many low-quality films began to be made. Semyon Farada also happened to participate in some of these films. Among them are “Russian Miracle” and “Russian Business” by Mikhail Kokshenov. Later, Semyon Lvovich admitted that he considered these films his biggest failure. In recent years, Semyon Farada has retired from work. The reason for this was a serious illness - a heart defect. Back in 1988, the actor underwent heart surgery with an artificial valve installed. The operation was successful, and for many years Semyon Lvovich felt great and even played football.

0

Trouble came in 2000. In June, Semyon Lvovich's close friend Grigory Gorin is smart. The next day, Farada suffered a massive stroke and her speech was impaired. The actor underwent treatment at a sanatorium, after which he began to move around the apartment with a cane and talk. But the trials were not over. A year and a half later, Semyon Lvovich broke his femoral neck. The involuntary cause of the injury was Farada’s favorite dog, a shepherd named Rick, who accidentally knocked out of the artist’s hands the stick with which he was moving around the apartment. Three operations followed and... a new blow - a second stroke.

0

In recent years, Semyon Lvovich has changed 13 hospitals. During this difficult time for him, the actor was supported by his wife and numerous friends - Vladimir Resin, Efim Shifrin, Gennady Khazanov, Dmitry Kharatyan, Yuliy Kim, Yuliy Gusman. Semyon Lvovich was helped by the theater management, businessmen (Gennady Lazarevsky and Bogdan Maslovets), and ordinary people who remembered and loved him. In mid-July 2009, Semyon Farada's health deteriorated again. The actor was hospitalized in a Moscow clinic with a diagnosis of pneumonia. On the evening of August 20, Semyon Lvovich’s weakened heart could not stand it...

Personal life

S. Farada was married three times. The first two marriages were unhappy, and the actor remembered little about them. His true love was the honored actress of the USSR and the Russian Federation Maria Politsemako. The actor met her at the Taganka Drama and Comedy Theater in the 70s.

At that moment, they were both not free, but this did not prevent the development of a whirlwind romance. With his ardent, sincere love, the actor managed to win the girl’s heart. Soon the lovers parted with their official halves and sealed their union with marriage.

In 1976, the happy couple had a son, Mikhail, who inherited the talents of his famous parents; he still delights the viewer with bright roles in cinema and theater. Mikhail gave his father a grandson, Nikita, and two granddaughters, Emilia and Sofia.

With Maria Politsemako, Semyon Farada had a son, Mikhail, who later followed in his father’s footsteps in terms of career and creativity

Theater life

After graduating from college, Polizeimako entered the service of the Russian Academic Youth Theater. A plump, big-eyed, curly-haired guy in his role was simply created for comedic roles and images of southerners.

Mikhail repeatedly criticized the Soviet system of state theaters. I believed that productions should be extraordinary and interesting.

Last years

In the late 90s, Semyon Lvovich began to have health problems. His dedication to his acting career affected the functioning of his heart muscle. The artist underwent a complex operation to replace his heart valve with an artificial one.

S. Farada did not take his health seriously, despite doctors’ prohibitions, he continued to smoke, categorically rejecting requests to change his habits. Two years after the operation, his close friend and colleague G. Gorin died. This news and the funeral of his comrade caused irreparable damage to the health of the actor himself.

He suffered a stroke, after which he never returned to his usual way of life. The hemorrhage affected much of his brain and left him speechless and paralyzed, and he had to relearn how to walk on his feet.

A year and a half later, the actor had an unfortunate fall, which led to a fracture of the femoral neck. The subsequent three operations to restore the leg led to another severe stroke. For nine years, the wife and son fought for the life of their loved one, but the disease took its toll.

Due to chronic heart failure and irreversible consequences after suffering brain hemorrhages, the public's favorite died in the Moscow hospital named after. Vishnevsky. They said goodbye to the actor on August 24, 2009 at the Moscow House of Cinema. The burial took place at the Troekurovsky cemetery.

Minor roles Semyon Farada

The father saw his son Semyon Ferdman (he later took a pseudonym) as a military man. But the future actor did not enter the Academy of Armored Forces. But Semyon enjoyed playing in the amateur theater at Moscow State University, where he was best in comedic roles. If Semyon appeared in the hall, it means that the cheerful and ringing laughter of the audience would soon be heard.

The first film with the participation of Semyon Farada was the film “Holidays in the Stone Age”. Then there was the film “Forward, Guardsmen!”, and in 1979 - “Garage”, where the actor brilliantly played the role of a trombonist. Just remember the commander-in-chief in a funny cocked hat in the film “That Same Munchausen” and the count’s assistant in “Formula of Love.” The duet of Farada and Abdulov became the best in this film, and the audience is still humming their “Neapolitan Song”.

In 2000, the last film with Farada’s participation, “The Musicians of Bremen,” was released. Soon the actor suffered a stroke, from which he was never able to fully recover. In 2009, the artist passed away.
