Childhood
At the age of 10, Roman Madyanov began acting in films. He played in G. Danelia’s film “Completely Lost.” Madyanov made his full debut in the 1972 film , an adaptation of M. Twain’s novel, dedicated to the adventures of Heckel Berry Finn.
At the age of 16, the actor actively acted in films. He had more than 10 film works to his credit:
- "Aniskin and Fantomas";
- "Trace on the Ground";
- "Long, Long Summer";
- "Spring Changelings";
- “I figured it out, congratulations!” and others.
It took a lot of time to film, and therefore Roman could not boast of his academic performance at school. Even at the age of 10, Madyanov knew who he would become.

“My wife is smart, this is confirmed by the fact that for twenty-five years she has had the patience to communicate with a monster like me,” says the actor, smiling.
— Roman Sergeevich, your birthday is 56 in July.
I know that the year that has passed since the previous holiday was full of work for you, but difficult from the point of view of your health... - Yes, I celebrated my 55th birthday in intensive care. He got there, so he was a hooligan.
— Has your heart failed?
- Yes, there was a problem with my heart, but then the pressure made itself felt. Thank you, our wonderful doctors got me back on my feet and, as they say, back on track. Now I plan my work schedules more meaningfully. Before, I never thought at all: no matter what the overload is, it’s okay, everything is fine, we’ll do it. And now I understand that I need to be more attentive to myself. If a project ends, you definitely need to find at least small windows for restoration. Alas, fatigue tends to accumulate. After all, we now shoot films not eight hours a day, as in Soviet times, but twelve. Which, in my opinion, is completely unproductive given the fact that before we did everything well. Well, okay, God will be their judge.
Youth
Roman tried to enroll in GITIS after school, but failed on the first try. The reason for this was his acting experience in cinema, because the main emphasis was on acting in the theater. The second attempt was more successful.
He became a student of Oscar Remez's GITIS course. Roman enjoyed playing on the stage of the theater and participated in student productions at the theatre. V. Mayakovsky. He had to leave his studies for 2 years, because he had to serve in the rocket and space defense forces. But in 1987 Roman continued his studies.
The beginning of an acting career
Roman Madyanov was born in 1962 in Dedovsk (Moscow region), into a creative family. His mother worked in a library, his father was a television editor. Together with his brother, they disappeared from their father’s work from early childhood. Soon Roma himself found himself on the set as an actor. He was given the main role in the film “Completely Lost,” where the boy played along with famous actors of that time.
Then came endless filming. No matter how much he wanted, Roman could not study normally. But his acting skills grew and blossomed. From the age of 10, the boy already knew for sure that he would connect his life with this profession. The father supported his son, suggesting that he immediately try out for GITIS. Madyanov, despite his natural talent, got there only the second time.
GITIS didn’t like it when students already had experience filming films. Roman even had to give a written promise that he would not act in films until he received his diploma. He was enrolled in the course of Oscar Remez, to whom Roman was later grateful for the experience for the rest of his life. He enjoyed playing in the theater, and after graduating from university he again began filming films.
Career growth in the theater
The aspiring actor was involved in Mayakovka productions and was even able to establish himself as a leading artist. You could see him in performances where he played the main roles:
- "Lizard";
- "In the Ring of Silence";
- “Long live the Queen, viva!”;
- "Hunchback";
- "Agent 00";
- "Sunset";
- "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead...";
- "Victim of the Century"
Madyanov is sure that theater is eternal, cinema and TV will be erased from people’s memories, but he is not. In 2010, he brilliantly performed the role of Levka Krik in the production of “Men and Mice”, which took place in Israel.
Personal life
Roman Madyanov managed to be known as the most decent family man among famous actors. His wife Natalia Madyanova is also an actress, they worked in the same theater.

Back in 1992, the young people got married and later got married in church. Perhaps this became the basis of their strong marriage. In 1993, their only son was born, who was named, like his father, Roman.
The young man studied at a music school as a child and even showed promise, but ultimately chose the profession of a television cameraman. The interests of Roman Madyanova’s son were never limited; he always did what he liked. He was never drawn to the camera, but he respects the work of his parents and considers it very necessary for people.
Film work
In 1989, the actor appeared on screens in the film “Private Detective, or Operation Cooperation.” This was his second “debut”, which revealed the full genius of Madyanov’s play.
Directors bombarded him with new offers, wanting to cast the actor in films. Even episodic roles with Roman became bright and memorable. He played Fang in the comedy "High Security Comedy", a policeman with major's shoulder straps Mamontov "The Irony of Fate. Continuation".
Roman Sergeevich pleased with the main role in the series “Citizen Chief”, where he played prosecutor Antsiferov, political officer Kolobkov in “Soldiers”. Even though some of the characters were negative, the actor brilliantly conveyed their images , “unearthing” something positive in them.
In 2004, a 6-episode detective series “Lost the Sun” was released, which was based on the novel of the same name by M. Esaulov.
The actor played a supporting role, but the attention of fans was always focused on him. Subsequently, he was expected to work in dozens of domestic projects:
- «12»;
- “All inclusive, or All inclusive!”;
- "Loot";
- "Burnt by the Sun 2: The Citadel";
- “Our Russia: Eggs of Destiny”;
- "Legend No. 17";
- "Yesenin";
- Plot;
- "Inquisitor";
- "Leviathan";
- "Poddubny";
- "Orlova and Alexandrov."
In 2015, Madyanov starred in the image of Count A.I. Shuvalov in the historical series “The Great”. In 2021, he pleased fans with the films “Wonderland”, “Marry Pushkin”, “The Monk and the Demon”, “The Groom”.
In 2021, viewers watched new projects with Madyanov “Once upon a time,” “Walking through torment.” With more than 200 film credits to his credit, the actor continues to delight his army of fans with his talent and does not stop at his goals.
Roman Madyanov now
Roman Madyanov has no reason to complain about creative downtime. In 2018, the actor was involved in a number of films of different genres. The story about the Bobrov family was continued. In the film “Super Beavers. People's Avengers" heroes end up in Thailand and become members of a circus troupe.
Madyanov got the leading role in the military drama about the feat of Soviet tank crews “Indestructible” with Vladimir Epifantsev, with whom Roman starred in the comedy “All or Nothing” about rebellious office employees. Yuri Moroz's actor appeared in the crime film "The Gambler" about the rise of the gambling business in Russia. In the series “Identification,” the artist was accompanied by Polina Kutepova; they also worked together on the melodrama “Father.”
In the film “Crimean Sakura,” based on the biography of prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya, Roman appeared in the image of a repeat offender who was imprisoned for 25 years. The military drama “Ilyinsky Frontier” showed Madyanov in the role of General Smirnov, under whose command military school cadets defended the approaches to Moscow in October 1941. The main roles in the film were given to Daria Ursulyak, Evgeny Dyatlov and Sergei Bezrukov.
Roman Madyanov will try on the costume of an NKVD officer in the film adaptation of the novel “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” about the dispossession and deportation of a Tatar family to Siberia. The work has been translated into 18 languages, the author Guzel Yakhina was awarded the national literary awards “Big Book” and “Yasnaya Polyana”.

Roman Madyanov most often plays heroes with a minus sign. His villains turn out to be as convincing as the actor’s other characters - village men, military men or fathers of the family.
And now Channel One viewers can see Roman Madyanov in a new role. In the historical series "Gloomy River" the actor played the merchant Kupriyanov. Viewers have probably never seen Madyanov like this!
The series was filmed throughout Russia: in the Urals, Suzdal, Kineshma, Moscow and the Moscow region. There was an expedition to Belarus. Without exaggeration, the project can be called a grandiose television event - such a scale of filming, such a constellation of actors! Alexander Baluev, Yulia Peresild, Alexander Yatsenko, Daria Moroz and, of course, Roman Madyanov.
Today Madyanov is one of the most sought-after actors. With such a busy time, you need to be able to relax! Madyanov does this while fishing. Taking your favorite spinning rod, leaving the city at night for the sake of a morning bite in the cold - either alone or in company - is a real pleasure for Madyanov! So the authors of the film went on such a fishing trip with the actor, where he talked about his record - catching a catfish weighing 98 kg - and shared his innermost thoughts about himself, his family and creativity. By the way, Madyanov only drinks tea when fishing. He admits: at one time he abused it, but now for many years no, no. Although he plays drunks in movies like no one else! At the request of the film crew, the actor demonstrated his technique.
Madyanov began acting in films since childhood. By the end of school, the young actor’s filmography already included 10 films. But this just got in the way during my studies - in theater universities, theater is always at the forefront, and teachers do not like students who are already acting in films. Therefore, Roman had to promise not to act in films while he was studying. And he kept his word! Then he was given the same condition when he was accepted into the Mayakovsky Theater. And Madyanov did not act in films for 10 years!
He announced himself in cinema in 1989, when he was invited to his film “Private Detective, or Operation Cooperation” by Leonid Gaidai himself. Was it possible to refuse the offer of the great master? And although the film turned out to be much weaker than Gaidai’s previous comedies, Madyanov was remembered in the film. It was in this film that the directors saw in him the charisma of a scoundrel and began actively filming the actor in this role. Although in life Roman Madyanov is a kind-hearted person! And with a solid position in life: faithful to friends, profession and one and only wife.
Everything about the characters of the series, filming in the taiga, true stories about robbers, merchant treasures, Tunguska shamans and the gold rush in Siberia - in a special project of the First
