Leonid Markov is an actor with strong expressive talent and a bright, memorable appearance. On stage he embodied many exceptional, outstanding characters, diverse in character, behavior and temperament. He was easily given both main and secondary roles, both the roles of insidious villains and the roles of unhappy lovers.
Cinema met theater actor Leonid Markov inhospitably. He played many roles, shone in a variety of famous and outstanding films, endowed his heroes with a bright and colorful personality, remembered by many fans of Soviet cinema.
However, he was offered minor and episodic roles, turning a blind eye to the actor’s original talent and creative performance.
The biography of Leonid Markov is a lively and dynamic book, the plot of which is entirely devoted to the art of acting and skill. Leafing through the pages of this tome, we will be able to enjoy the bright and unique talent of the famous actor and will be able to better understand the world of acting art of the Soviet Union.
Little talent
The biography of Leonid Markov originates in distant Kazakhstan, where a little boy Lenya was born into a family of creative people. This happened in December 1927.
The parents of the future actor worked in an artistic environment. Father - Vasily Demyanovich, worked as an actor in provincial theaters, mother - Maria Petrovna, served as a make-up artist there. The Markovs were constantly busy in repertoires, often moving from place to place: from city to city, from village to village.
As expected in theater families, children were involved in the productions. Little Lenya (together with his older sister Rimma, a future famous actress) performed on stage from the age of five. He played in “Uncle Tom's Cabin” and other famous performances of that time. And often not boys, but girls.

People's Artist of the USSR (1985)
Childhood
Leonid Markov was born on December 13, 1927 in the village of Alekseevskoye (Northern Kazakhstan). Leonid's father was an actor in provincial theaters, his mother was a make-up artist. Every five or six years the Markov family moved. Ivanovo, Kineshma, Yakutsk, Ashgabat, Saratov, Vologda... In the cheap apartments rented by theaters they lived modestly but cheerfully. In acting families, it’s customary that children are necessarily included in performances. Little Lenya made his debut at the age of five in Uncle Tom's Cabin.
A little later - at the age of seven - Leonid was already playing with his sister, Rimma Markova. “What was remarkable about the performance: the boy was older and the girl was younger. We played in reverse. My brother was white, and it never occurred to anyone that we were the opposite,” recalls Rimma Markova.
But still, Leonid did not like theater as a child. He had other passions: he drew amazingly, carved wood, and sculpted. His cherished childhood dream is to become an artist.
The nomadic life of their parents, actors, affected the brother and sister in different ways: Leonid, unlike his sister, studied well. But the sister, having a textured appearance and good physical characteristics, took her brother under “her wing” and protected him in critical situations.
Leonid and Rimma graduated from school in Vologda. There they entered the studio at the local Vologda Drama Theater, where Liya Davydovna Rotbaum was the artistic director. She felt that Leonid Markov was capable of more. And she took him to “show” him in Moscow, taking Rimma Markova along with her.
Theater stage
In 1947, twenty-year-old Leonid Markov, together with his sister Rimma, was accepted into the theater studio, and then into the Lenin Komsomol Theater, which was led by outstanding directors and teachers Ivan Bersenev, Sofya Giatsintova and Serafima Birman. Far from their parents, they lived from hand to mouth - there was a rationing system, old clothes, vague prospects... At first they lived at the station, later - in the back room of the theater and only then - in a room at the energy institute, obtained for them by the head of Lenkom, Ivan Nikolaevich Bersenev. “In the evenings, my brother and I always went somewhere. I saved programs, of which by the end of the year there were up to three hundred. This means that almost every single day we were either at a classical music concert, or at the theater, or at an exhibition,” recalls Rimma Markova.
Leonid Markov worked at the Lenin Komsomol Theater from 1947 to 1960. Over the years, he played in the plays: “Honor from a Young Age” (Nehoda), “Cyrano de Bergerac” (Christian, Carbon de Castel Jaloux), “The Cherry Orchard” (Yasha, Petya Trofimov), “The Living Corpse” (Petrushin), “ Factory Girl" (Komsorg), "Courage" (Kalyuzhny), "Lost Illusions" (Abbé Herrera), "Saint Joan" (Count of Warwick), "First Cavalry" (Mitryai), etc.
Then there was work at the Pushkin Theater, where he took part in the performances: “Teresa’s Birthday” (Marcelo), “Romagnola” (Michele Dasponsi), “Pillars of Society” (Iuhan), “Virgin Soil Upturned” (Timofey Rvany), “ Supreme Being" (Ferenc), etc.
Mossovet Theater
In 1966, Leonid Markov went to work at the Mossovet Theater. Here he played almost the entire classical repertoire: Lermontov, Turgenev, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy. Yuri Zavadsky took him in the hope that he would replace Nikolai Mordvinov in Masquerade. And if Nikolai Mordvinov played a nobleman - brilliant speech, straight back, in general, a gentleman, an aristocrat, then in Leonid Markov - Arbenin was a commoner who became a popular man, and for this he is hated in the world.
Leonid Markov knew how to focus on the personal, and not the social, drama of the hero; he created a character, not a type. He played a lot of classical roles, but his characters, perhaps without realizing it, suffered from a completely modern depression - the heavy shame of a strong man, exhausted by the grayness of Soviet “stagnation”. And they bent under the weight of “Russian melancholy,” which was indifferent to the changing times and hung like a generational curse. They said about his Fed Protasov: “a burned out man.” His Yegor Bulychov was not eager to sort things out with “others,” having a clear and hopeless consciousness. He was the Dickensian grotesque Porfiry Petrovich in “Petersburg Dreams”
The Moscow triumph of Roman Viktyuk began precisely with “The Tsar’s Hunt,” staged by him at the Mossovet Theater: Leonid Markov - Alexey Orlov; Margarita Terekhova - Impostor. The capital's theatergoers watched The Tsar's Hunt several times, and provincials came to Moscow specifically for this performance.
“He knew how to command attention on stage. You could even say that he had his own “Markov” pause. There was a scene in The King's Hunt when he tries to remove the ring that was given to him by an impostor posing as Peter's daughter. He twisted it, tried to pull it off, for two minutes he walked around the stage and took off this ring. The entire hall simply froze in silence. But when the torn ring flew backstage, the hall exploded with applause,” recalls one of his friends Leonid Ivtifiev
Theaters fought for Leonid Markov. Mikhail Tsarev, the artistic director of Maly, has been inviting the artist for more than one year. And finally, having decided that he was “tired” of the Mossovet Theater, Leonid Markov went to Maly. There he successfully played the main role in “The Zykovs” and... eight months later he returned back to the Mossovet troupe: Maly did not like Maly’s very specific, academic repertoire.
At the Mossovet Theater he played special heroes - with a powerful, difficult, tough, capricious character. Not just difficult, but often also unpleasant. “An oppressive man,” critics said about Markov’s hero.
Film works
At the theater, Leonid Markov performed the entire star repertoire. But it didn’t work out with the movies - the roles were given to me were offensively insignificant! But they were also memorable.
In 1956, he had excellent auditions for Grigory Chukhrai’s film “The Forty-First” for the main role of a White Guard officer, which was later played by Oleg Strizhenov. Elem Klimov tried him for the role of Rasputin in Agony, but preferred Alexei Petrenko - both in age and in appearance he was more suitable for the role.
Leonid Markov himself, of all the films in which he starred, singled out Nikolai Moskalenko’s melodrama “Russian Field,” which was released in 1971. And indeed, it was with this film that the all-Union fame of Leonid Markov began. In this film, the actor lives, not plays.
Late 70s – early 80s. It was during these years that Leonid Markov created a whole gallery of memorable heroes. In the famous comedy “Garage” by Eldar Ryazanov, he plays the role of a prominent scientist who, in heated cooperative battles, takes the side of justice, but, alas, does not immediately... And in the film by Gavriil Egiazarov “They don’t change horses at the crossing,” Leonid Markov plays Anatoly Borisov - a new type of leader. He paints the image of his hero with subtle, precise strokes: this is a thinking and deeply feeling person, capable of responding to someone else’s pain, listening, understanding and appreciating the opinion of another person. Even in the most difficult situations, he does not lose his restraint, intelligence, and does not break into a scream.
Markov's heroes, as a rule, are wise, deep, very intelligent people. So in Gennady Vasiliev’s film “Flight with an Astronaut” (1980), Leonid Markov plays a police colonel - an intelligent man, with a sense of humor, who knows how to admit when he is wrong and to rise above purely departmental interests.
And how subtly the actor played the role in Sergei Kolosov’s film “Mother Mary”. Leonid Markov, who plays Skobtsov, emphasizes the spiritual gentleness of his hero. And only during the days of the occupation of Paris, on the eve of the arrest of mother Maria and her son - during the last meeting - the actor, with a subtle shade of intonation, a subtle movement, shows that the person has long been gone, that the softness of his character’s character has turned into a softening of the soul and will. Skobtsov-Markov’s melancholy concern for loved ones constantly struggles with the melancholy weariness of life. And it's scary.
One of the most notable film roles of Leonid Markov, of course, is Urbenin in Emil Loteanu’s drama “My Affectionate and Tender Beast,” an adaptation of Chekhov’s story “Drama on the Hunt.” The actor created the image of a quiet and humble Urbenin, in whose eyes and in his gestures there was an extraordinary, piercing melancholy.
The actor is also remembered for the films: “Red and Black”, “Inheritance”, “Our Debts”, “Snake Catcher”, as well as for the famous television series “The Investigation is Conducted by Experts”, where he starred in the episode “Escape”.
Radio work
Leonid Markov had a unique voice and manner of speaking. This is probably why he was often invited to work on the radio. About a hundred recordings, covering a large time period from 1954 to 1990, literary works, radio plays with his participation are stored in the collection of the radio fund: “In the Winter Forest” by S. Bogomazov, in the role of the Wolf; “In the gymnasium” by N. Garin-Mikhailovsky, in the role of Father; “White Roses, Pink Elephants” by W. Gibson, as Henry Pulaski; “Fate” by P. Proskurin, in the role of Makashin; “Inspector Tikhonov” by Arkady and Georgy Vaynerov, in the role of Sharapov; “Korolyov and Gagarin” by V. Gubarev, in the role of Korolev; “First Love” by I. Bunin, in the role of Father and other performances. The actor read literary works by A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, F. Dostoevsky, I. Abashidze, V. Astafiev, B. Vasilyev, R. Rozhdestvensky...
Personal life
Women constantly sought the artist’s attention. Fans did not allow passage. The first marriage broke up due to the wife's jealousy. And the next two were unsuccessful. And he lived with his last wife, Elena Markov, for 20 years, until his death.
“We met while filming a play,” says Elena Vladimirovna. – I then worked as an engineer on television. There was a problem with the color, Lena needed to change her shirt, and I approached him with this request. Usually stars are capricious, but he raised his eyes like a child and asked obediently: “Where to go?” Where to change clothes? At that very moment I fell in love!..
We had fun together, despite the age difference - when we met, he was 43, I was 27. He read a lot, knew a lot. We could talk for hours! We loved to live at the dacha for a long time; the two of us were never bored. He drew beautifully; his paintings remain at home. He had a powerful back, protecting me - when he died, I felt it...
Probably, our life was not harmony - things happened, but it was a bright palette. So bright that 15 years have passed since his death, and during this time I could not even closely compare anyone with Lenya. My only regret is that I didn’t give birth. He said: “You are my child, I am yours.” Then I regretted it..."
A year before their death, Elena and Leonid were baptized together. When Elena wanted to be baptized, she didn’t even think that her husband would support her. And he said, as if he had been thinking about this for a long time: “And I’m with you.”
"You know what he was like..."
Rimma Markova: “Lenya was especially in demand. Firstly, talent, and secondly, strong male charisma: he knew how to play gender, which is not given to everyone!”
Roman Viktyuk: “I know that Markov was considered arrogant, impudent, impudent. Yes, it all happened. But I remember him very simple, soft, pliable. Obviously, one had to be able to approach him, to understand his far from ordinary personality.”
Georgy Taratorkin: “Cinema, like theater, yearns for such a masculine nature. It's very rare to have a genuine man on stage. It’s crazy how they played “The Tsar’s Hunt” with Rita Terekhova! There is the existence of an actor within the framework of a character, and in his case, the boundaries were expanded. He was definitely there."
Leonid Ivtifev: “Leonid Vasilyevich was a very emotional person, but at the same time very restrained. Of course, he probably liked that the audience loved him. The acting profession is a very vain one, but he did not have this vanity.
He was difficult in life. But I can say that there was more good in him than bad. Yes, he liked to drink, in company he could make very painful jokes at someone, remember something not very pleasant. But he could also apologize, call in the morning and say: “Forgive me, it wasn’t me, it was the vodka that spoke to me.”
Mystic
In 1985, Leonid Markov played a man dying of cancer in the film “Snake Catcher.” And six years later he died of cancer for real.
In 1990, he was offered the role of Satan in the film Hotel Eden, and he accepted. Filming wrapped at the end of February 1991. However, on March 1, the technical director came running to Markov and said that during dubbing, one phrase spoken by his hero, that is, Satan, did not work out. The phrase was: “Disgrace on earth begins when a pure, bright soul appears on it.” Markov had to go to the tone studio and re-voice the phrase again. Immediately after this, he suddenly became ill and was taken to the hospital. There he died two days later.
More than sixteen years have passed since Leonid Markov passed away, but fans still send him letters. National love and recognition are an inextricable thread that unites the work of Leonid Markov with great art.

Brother and sister
As a child, the appearance of the future outstanding actor Leonid Markov was very conducive to such roles. He had a gentle, handsome face, a thin figure, and calm demeanor. My sister, on the contrary, grew up freckled and muscular, so at first she got the roles of lanky, awkward teenagers.
Already at that time, little Leni’s talent amazed and fascinated. For example, his performance of the seven-year-old orphan Valka, dying of poverty and poverty, impressed with its realism and expressiveness (the play “Street Children”). While watching the production, the audience was so imbued with the tragedy of the little heroine that their hearts began to ache, and some even received medical assistance!
Theater audiences adored talented children. They were treated to sweets and cakes, hugged and kissed.
But, despite his obvious talent and universal recognition, little Lenya did not like acting.
Hobbies of the future actor
Young Markov was a creative person, but had a cold attitude towards the theater. He loved to create something with his own hands: draw, sculpt, carve wood. There was a time when he dreamed of becoming a painter. If I had studied further, everything would have been completely doable.
At school, the little talent was also doing well. Despite his nomadic life, he grew up disciplined, responsible, and diligent. I received high grades, made plans for the future, where there was absolutely no place for the theatrical stage.
But fate decreed otherwise. The war has begun.
From the biography of Leonid Markov
The future popular actor was born on December 13, 1927.
Place of birth: Alekseevka, Kazakh SSR. Leonid's parents were creative people, they worked in an artistic environment. My father worked as an actor in many provincial theaters, my mother was a make-up artist. The family constantly moved from place to place. From the age of five, Lenya and his older sister Rimma participated in theatrical productions. The public adored the little artists, but in those years Leonid was cool towards the theater. He liked to create something with his own hands: the boy loved to carve wood, sculpt, and draw. At one time, Leonid even dreamed of becoming a painter.
Leonid studied well, was a diligent, responsible and disciplined student. But during his school years there was no place in his plans for the theatrical stage.
Early years
The Great Patriotic War found the Markovs in Vologda, where the gifted teenager studied at school and rooted with all his heart for the victory of “their own”.
After receiving secondary education, the young man was faced with the question: where to study next? War, bombing, devastation and uncertainty. What to do? Where to go?
And my mother advised Leonid to enter the acting studio located at the drama theater. While studying artistic skills and being so close to the theater stage, Leonid Vasilyevich Markov fell in love with the stage and performing arts with all his soul. They trusted him with the main roles, which he performed with talent and selflessness; the audience adored the young actor and called for an encore.
He was greeted with applause and recognized on the street, people fell in love with him and admired him. The aspiring actor liked such universal approval. Having felt the taste of fame and recognition, he wanted to connect his future life with acting.
Crucial moment
The studio's artistic director, Leah Rotbaum, saw great potential in young Leonid. She nurtured his acting ambitions and suggested that he go to Moscow and conquer the capital’s stage.
Life in a big city was not easy. Although Markov (along with his sister Rimma) was accepted into the studio located at the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater, housing and especially money were tight for the young people.
At first they spent the night at the station, then they were accommodated in a dilapidated theater annex, and a little later they were allocated a room in the dormitory of one of the institutes.
Everything didn’t work out right away with my career either. At first, young people were given episodic roles, then they began to be trusted in supporting roles, and only then in the main roles. So, little by little, life began to improve.
Leonid Markov biography personal life
The magnificent master of the theatrical stage Leonid Markov easily took root in cinema. Tall stature, open masculinity and a bewitching voice made the man a star of Soviet screens. However, Markov’s friends and colleagues are sure that the directors failed to appreciate his acting talent, and Leonid never played “his”, “that” role.
Childhood and youth
Leonid Markov was born in the small Kazakh village of Alekseevka. Despite his place of birth, the actor is Russian by nationality. His father Vasily Demyanovich served as an actor in provincial theaters, and his mother Maria Petrovna worked with him, only as a make-up artist.
Rimma Markova and Leonid Markov with their father
When Lenya was little, the family constantly moved. My father was transferred to one city of the vast Union, then to another. The Markovs managed to live in Kineshma, Ashgabat, Saratov, Vologda and even Yakutsk. Leonid, together with his sister Rimma Markova, who also became a famous actress, grew up behind the scenes. The children took to the stage early and were involved in children's productions.
Lenya first learned about the peculiarities of the acting profession while performing at the Saratov Drama Theater. He made his stage debut in the play “Uncle Tom's Cabin.” It is noteworthy that love for this difficult task did not come immediately. The boy had no passion for the theater, other activities attracted him - Leonid was an excellent painter, sculpted from clay, and carved wood, nurturing the dream of becoming an artist. And, unlike his sister, he studied well at school.
Leonid Markov in his youth
As a teenager, he decided to devote his life to acting, following Rimma, entering the studio that the Vologda Theater opened for young talents. Artistic director Leah Rotbaum saw the remarkable talent of Leonid Markov and, together with her sister, took him to “show him in Moscow.”
The guys were accepted into the ranks of the studio of the capital's theater named after. Lenin Komsomol. Finding themselves far from their father's house, Leonid and Rimma learned what hunger was (the post-war rationing system was still in effect) and lack of a roof over their head. I even had to live at the station. Later, the brother and sister were sheltered in a theater storeroom, and then in a dormitory at an energy institute.
Positive sides
Whatever the external conditions, young Markov always maintained a positive attitude. He believed in his star, in his calling, in his work.
Despite the instability and precariousness of the situation, brother and sister attended cultural events every day (if training allowed and there were no evening performances) - museums, exhibitions, concerts.
Four years after arriving in the capital, Leonid Vasilyevich Markov was officially accepted into the Lenkom theater troupe. This strengthened his position in the theatrical field and gave him hope for a bright future.
Theater career
During his theatrical career, actor Leonid Markov changed three theaters, where he played bright and unforgettable roles in the leading performances of the season. He equally brilliantly managed to convey on stage the spirit of both classical works and modern productions. His heroes, regardless of age, character and temperament, amazed with their realism, effectiveness, internal psychologism and depth of emotions.
They say that directors “fought” for the actor, various artistic directors lured him to their theaters, and Markov himself - talented, happy and proud - played where he wanted, trying to find his own style of performance, his own presentation of the work, his own colorful hero.
He loved heroes who were strong in spirit, restless and grotesque. Talentedly conveyed their passionate character, their doubts and furies. He focused not on the social side of the work, but on the intimate, personal, individual. That’s why many of the actor’s characters are so beloved by his fans. The audience saw themselves, their thoughts, their feelings and experiences in them.
Markov was very fond of maintaining a significant pause on stage, making the audience worry and look forward to further action. True theatergoers froze in delight at this acting technique, which fascinated and enchanted at the same time.
First productions
Leonid Vasilyevich’s first place of work, as mentioned above, was the Moscow Theater. Lenin Komsomol. There, the young aspiring actor had the opportunity to work for thirteen years, performing in more than twenty productions.
The very first of them was the play “Honor from a Young Age,” where the aspiring actor talentedly played the young and ambitious Nekhoda. Then there were the plays “The Cherry Orchard” (in which Markov played first Yasha and then Trofimov), “The Living Corpse”, “Bread and Roses”, “Factory Girl”, “No One Sleeped That Night”, “Lost Illusions” , “Saint Joan”, “First Symphony”, etc.
No matter who the actor represented (be it a modern student, a business director or a medieval hero), all his characters breathed life, energy and sensitivity.
At the theater. Pushkin Markov worked for only five years, presenting on stage the unforgettable, vivid images of Timofey Rvany (the play “Virgin Soil Upturned”), Marcelo (“Teresa’s Birthday”), Michele Foschini (“Romagnola”) and others.
Becoming an actor
At the Mossovet Theater (where Leonid Vasilyevich served from 1966 until his death), he actively performed in many classical productions, and also took an energetic part in plays by modern authors.
His heroes were diverse and multifaceted, as before. He talentedly and soulfully brought to the stage the images of all kinds of characters. Among them, first of all, it is necessary to note Zvyagintsev (the play “They Fought for the Motherland”), Arbenin (“Masquerade”), Kuzma Mefodiev (“My Heart is with You”), Porfiry Petrovich (“Crime and Punishment”, “Petersburg Dreams” ), Flora Fedulych (“The Last Victim”), Baturin (“Arctic Novel”), Count Orlov (“The Tsar’s Hunt”), Yegor Bulychov (“Egor Bulychov and others”), etc.
In parallel with the stage, Leonid Markov actively acted in film, playing bright and unforgettable characters in Russian cinema.
Personal life of Andrey Markov
After living in Canada for ten years, Markov decided to become a citizen of this country.
He was born in Russia and was always proud of his Motherland. During his life overseas, Andrei fell in love with Canada and the city in which he lives. The hockey player considers Canada his second homeland. Living in Canada, the athlete tries to communicate more with Russians. According to him, they are closer to him mentally. Training and games take a lot of time, so in his free time Andrey strives to be at home with his family as much as possible. According to him, he will travel in retirement. Now he simply doesn’t have time for this.
Andrey Markov was seriously injured
The athlete’s closest friend, who lives overseas like him, is Maxim Afinogenov, who plays for Atlanta. If Afinogenov comes to Montreal or Markov is in Atlanta, the hockey players always meet to chat.
Andrey sometimes appears in commercials or takes part in show programs. He, like many other famous athletes, is involved in charity work. Before or after Christmas, hockey players go to the hospital to give gifts to children.
When the filming of the film dedicated to the centenary of hockey was underway in Montreal, Andrei Markov played one of the roles in it. According to the athlete, he has not yet been invited to any other big roles.
After Russia's victory in the 2008 World Hockey Championship, a postage stamp was issued depicting the most honored hockey players of the national team. One of them is Andrey Markov.
Some filmography
The five-part film “Anna Pavlova,” which was released in 1983 and in which Markov played General Bezobrazov, is a biographical film about the life of the prima donna of the Russian ballet. The talented ballerina performed by Galina Belyaeva makes the audience cry and suffer, rejoice and worry about her successes, achievements and personal tragedies.
Markov, in the role of Vladimir Mikhailovich Bezobrazov, helps the audience see the depth and power of Anna Pavlova’s talent. The film was nominated for the USSR State Prize.
The film “Seven Hours to Death” (released in the same 1983), where Leonid Vasilyevich plays Nechaev, a sea captain who set off on his last voyage, talks about the heroic everyday life of doctors and other people for whom human life, mutual assistance and feeling debt is not an empty phrase at all.
The film “Garage” was remembered by viewers for its sparkling tragic satire, in which the actor played one of the leading roles - Professor Smirnovsky, who has a beloved woman, the same age as his adult daughter.
It is also worth mentioning the last film in which Markov starred - the mystical “Hotel Eden”, where the elderly actor played the role of the depraved Satan, seducing young women in one of the Crimean resort rooms. In the film, Leonid Vasilyevich appears before the audience as a charming, imposing man, despite his rather advanced age and illness.
The picture appeared on screens in 1991. In the same year, Leonid Vasilyevich died from a terrible cancer disease.

Personal life of Markov
The personal life of Leonid Markov was rich and varied in events and incidents. Possessing a bright, spectacular appearance, he drove women crazy and himself shamelessly fell in love with them.
The first three marriages were fleeting and unhappy. Leonid Markov's wives tolerated his violent temper and bad habits, immoderation and unbridledness. They forgave the actor a lot, but were never able to give true happiness.
Markov’s last wife, Elena, found the key to the heart of her famous husband. She experienced a lot with him, endured a lot, but remained a faithful and devoted wife to him, always loving, always smiling.
There was quite a big difference between the spouses - sixteen years, but it did not prevent them from living in perfect harmony, happily and prosperously. They were an outlet for each other, a source of joy and support. They could spend hours talking together and wandering the alleys, meeting for breakfast and spending holidays together.
Leonid Vasilyevich was a real protector and patron for his wife, and she was a muse and inspiration for him.
Leonid Markov had no children. This made him a little upset and sad. But he never lost heart. “My child is you,” he often said to his beloved wife Elena.
Characteristics of the actor
Among the actors, Leonid Vasilyevich was highly respected. They were respected for their bright boundless talent, for their courageous, colorful appearance, for their kindness and easygoing nature.
Markov was quick-tempered and vain, a little arrogant and mocking. But at the same time, he was remembered by friends and acquaintances for his good nature and humility, cordiality and sincerity.
The actor died in March 1991 from cancer, which consumed his life for many months.
Death
