The love story of Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya: you are my melody, I am your devoted Orpheus

Dating history

For the first time, Muslim Magomayev saw his “other half” on TV, at a party. They showed a music competition in which the opera singer Tamara Sinyavskaya participated; outwardly, according to the master of the Soviet stage, she was completely unremarkable, but her mezzo-soprano voice completely captivated him.

And a couple of years later they met in Baku, at a festival of Russian art, where they were introduced by the poet Robert Rozhdestvensky. Mutual feelings flared up almost immediately, the lovers spent hours talking, walking and running away from social events in order to be alone for a little while.

Their story could have ended there, because a few weeks later Sinyavskaya flew away for a whole year to train at the La Scala opera house in Milan. In truth, she was glad for this trip, she wanted to be alone and sort out her feelings. The fact is that Tamara Ilyinichna was married at the time she met Muslim Magometovich, and he, already divorced, was known as a Casanova.

However, Magomayev would not be himself if he had not achieved Sinyavskaya’s favor. He later said that he fell in love with her at first sight, so the distance of thousands of kilometers did not become an obstacle for the singer. They called each other almost every day, over the phone he sang his songs to her, declared his love and sent her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers every week. There are rumors that Muslim Magometovich himself admitted to Sergei Berezhny, Sinyavskaya’s first husband, that he fell in love with her without memory.

After returning from Italy, Tamara Ilyinichna almost immediately filed for divorce. Separation from Magomayev could not dull her feelings, so she decided not to deceive anyone anymore.

Personal life of Tamara Ilyinichna

Sinyavskaya’s first husband was ballet dancer Sergei Berezhnoy; according to stories, he was a sincere and caring husband. They got along well and understood each other. At a time when Tamara was grieving the death of her mother, Sergei helped her overcome the bereavement. The singer did not live long with her first husband, and there were no children in the family.

In 1972, at the Russian art festival in Baku, she met Muslim Magomayev. A beautiful love story began between two talented people, stars of the first magnitude. At the time they met, Tamara was married, but this did not stop Muslim. He called her several times a day in Italy, where the singer was on an internship. He shared with her his new recordings, thoughts and dreams.

Fact! Muslim courted Tamara Sinyavskaya for two years. He treated her husband, Sergei, well, the three of them were friends for a long time, the singer shared this with Dmitry Gordon, who interviewed her. But everything came to a logical conclusion.

They got married in a Moscow registry office in 1974. Legends were made about the star couple. They were together on stage and in life. The magical love was overshadowed only by rumors about Muslim’s infidelities. The wisdom of this woman conquered all life's adversities.

They lived together for 35 years. And although they did not have children in their marriage, they became a very happy couple. Of course, there were also long disagreements during which they separated. During one of these quarrels, Alexandra Pakhmutova wrote the song “Farewell, beloved!”, after which the couple reconciled again. Common interests became the bond that created their world, filled with music and theater.

Two weddings

Oddly enough, there was no romantic marriage proposal. The singer, after his first divorce, was afraid to enter into an official marriage, although he understood that he wanted to live with Tamara Sinyavskaya all his life.

The wedding took place thanks to the couple’s friend, artist Tair Sapakhov. One day, having run into their hotel for a quick visit, Sapakhov said that through his friends he could arrange a “signing” without a queue, took their passports and took them to the registry office.

The celebration was initially planned as modest as possible for two stars - opera and pop. About a hundred guests were invited to the Baku restaurant in the capital, however, due to an information leak, at least three hundred more admirers of the singer’s work found themselves under the windows of the restaurant. Therefore, Magomayev, who always respected his fans, despite the first November frost, opened the restaurant windows and sang for them for almost an hour.

The “second wedding” was personal for Heydar Aliyev. He was unable to attend the celebration and, to congratulate him, invited the newlyweds to become his traveling companions on a trip from Moscow to Tula. The result was such a “wedding train”, about which Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya have the warmest memories; they joked that they were rushing through life on their lucky train.

The love of our lives - Muslim Magomaev and Tamara Sinyavskaya!

They were united by fate itself, although both could have missed each other in the motley crowd of numerous passers-by.

He could have stayed in the West, singing in the Parisian or Finnish opera, the Italian La Scala or the New York Metropolitan.

Or he could have gone on tour all over the world - and the world was ready to embrace the talented young singer. Alas, the romance with world fame did not happen.

Soviet artists, no matter how talented and even brilliant they were, resembled serfs: the master will let you go, the master will not let you go... “The master,” that is, the Ministry of Culture, of course, did not let go. But every cloud has a silver lining: if the singer had remained in the West, he would never have met Her. He is Muslim Magomayev. She is Tamara Sinyavskaya.

Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya met at the decade of Russian art at the Baku Philharmonic in 1972. Later, Muslim Magomayev recalled: “At the next concert, Robert Rozhdestvensky called me and introduced me to a pretty young woman. I called myself: “Muslim...”. She smiled: “And you still introduce yourself? The whole Union knows you.”

Tamara Sinyavskaya (she was twenty-nine at the time) had no choice but to complain about life. Calm, cozy marriage. A worthy husband is a reliable support for a young singer whose creative career is taking off. Everything, absolutely everything is wonderful and wonderful. But love is not chosen.

“I liked Tamara right away. It seemed to me that I did too.” Well, it’s not without reason that they say: kindred spirits attract. Tamara Sinyavskaya turned out to be not only an opera singer and a beautiful woman, but also an intelligent and interesting conversationalist. And Muslim Magomayev decided to show her what was dear to him - his native Baku with its unique flavor. They did not pass the teahouse, where, despite the unsightly surroundings, they were served a truly royal treat.

In Moscow, acquaintance resumed, but love triangles had never pleased anyone. And yet they were drawn to each other like a magnet. Living apart? Oh no! And when soon Tamara Sinyavskaya left for an internship in Italy for six months, Muslim Magomaev called her. Not just often - every day.

Kilometer phone bills coming in? Spit! Just to hear it! Tamara’s divine voice, revel in its beauty and depth again and again! It was during that period that the famous “Melody” was written (especially for them!).

Before meeting Tamara Sinyavskaya, Muslim Magomayev had many hobbies, novels and romances. Everything was passionate, hot, romantic and short-lived. (They even talked about an affair with Edita Piekha, which turned out to be just another piece of gossip). Handsome, smart, generous, with a voice of amazing beauty - how could he help but conquer women’s hearts?! He sang so that everyone thought: “He sings for me, only for me! Lord, what happiness!”

Muslim Magomaev and Tamara Sinyavskaya were in no hurry to formalize their relationship, as if they were waiting for a sign from above. Finally, Tamara Sinyavskaya could not stand it and divorced her husband. And soon their friend, artist Tair Sapakhov, took the passports of Tamara Sinyavskaya and Muslim Magomayev and took them to the registry office. And on November 23, 1974 they became husband and wife. Contrary to expectations, there was no quiet wedding. Someone spilled the beans, and a huge crowd was waiting for them on the street.

In the homeland of singer Muslim Magomayev, in Baku, where they went on their honeymoon, Tamara Sinyavskaya was received warmly, like a family.

Family without children

Over the many years of marriage, Muslim Magometovich and Tamara Ilyinichna did not have children. Why this happened is not known for certain. There are rumors that at first the couple decided to delay the birth of the baby so that Sinyavskaya would not take a forced break from her career, which was rapidly taking off. And when they realized that they had made the wrong choice, it was already too late. For a long time, they had a poodle named Charlie, whom the singers considered a full member of their family.

Tamara Sinyavskaya got along well with Magomayev's daughter from his first marriage, Marina, and even sometimes communicated with his first wife, Ophelia. She always reacted calmly to rumors appearing in the press about her husband’s illegitimate children, especially since they always turned out to be fake. Neither the fictional illegitimate nor the unborn children of Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya could shake their mutual trust and respect - the foundation of a strong marriage.

Sinyavskaya urgently left the Bolshoi Theater and ended her career in order to spend as much time as possible with her husband and care for him. Family friends later said that by this act she extended his life by at least several years.

Magomayev and Sinyavskaya often traveled to Azerbaijan; they always tried to spend their joint vacation actively, at the seaside. We spent a lot of time at the dacha. When asked about the secret of their happy marriage, they always answered that each of them had their own party in life. When the singer unexpectedly decided to leave the stage, his wife supported him, when he seriously began to get involved in painting - she admired the works.

Tamara Ilyinichna was always “behind her husband”; she gave her husband primacy in everything, and never regretted it. In conflicts, Muslim Magometovich, contrary to popular belief about the ardor of Eastern men, tried to make concessions to his wife. That's how we lived. Were you arguing? Of course, once they even almost got divorced. Magomayev said that he did not understand relationships in which everything was “like clockwork” and called them indifferent. According to the singer, quarrels and stormy reconciliations are precisely the indicator of true love.

Vow of silence

The widow of Muslim Magomayev continues to maintain a vow of silence for a long time - she simply has no one to talk to. She assures that, having lost her husband, she was left without a friend, chief adviser and ally. Muslim Magometovich himself always shared with his wife his impressions and experiences about what he saw or heard.
