A wedding day is memorable for any family. Each couple remembers not only the celebration itself, but also the “paperwork” that preceded it.

This includes choosing a registry office, determining the registration date, and submitting documents. It is worth familiarizing yourself with these and other legal nuances before going to the registry office in order to save time and nerves.

  • Where are marriages registered?
  • Peculiarities of registering a marriage with Russians
  • With foreigners
  • Conditions for marriage
  • How to get married in another city?
  • How many times can you “ring”?
  • Why are men less likely to get a stamp?
  • Peculiarities

    Non-ceremonial registration is much faster than traditional registration - it rarely lasts more than 15 minutes, but regular registration will take at least half an hour. The queue for the simplified procedure is shorter, and this is often very important when choosing a specific date.
    Simple registration requires practically nothing - no luxurious dress, no hairstyle, no bouquet or rings, or other mandatory wedding attributes. You can only come to it together. Moreover, in some registry offices, guests, even the closest relatives and parents, will not be allowed into the office where the painting is taking place.

    You will quickly receive the necessary documents with stamps and will be able to celebrate the way you want - at an outdoor ceremony, banquet or honeymoon. At the non-ceremonial ceremony, no speeches will be read to you, except for a very brief congratulation , there will be no poetry or music, and it will not take place in a decorated large hall, but in an ordinary office.

    Do you need witnesses for a non-ceremonial painting?
    No, their presence is not necessary, because they are not required to sign in the book, but no one can forbid you to bring your two best friends to the registry office. Important! The simplified procedure is carried out only in regional registry offices. Due to their specific nature, Wedding Palaces do not provide such a service. Only lavish ceremonial events are held there.

    Palaces

    Almost all registry offices and wedding palaces in the capital have the same work schedule: Tuesday - Saturday (with days off on Sunday and Monday). In addition, every month, on the first Tuesday in all palaces, there is no sanitary day and no reception of citizens.

    The following palaces operate in Moscow:

    1. Griboyedov Palace No. 1 - located on Maly Kharitonyevsky Lane-10. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 to 17.30 (lunch break from 13.30 to 15.00). It amazes with its splendor and creates a stunning festive atmosphere. The hall is quite large, but there are no more than 15 seats, so it is not recommended to invite more than the agreed number of guests.
    2. Wedding Palace No. 3 - located at: st. Young Leninists-35. Working days are from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 18.00 with a lunch break from 14.00 to 15.00, in addition, the third Tuesday every month is a sanitary day. Located on the ground floor in an ordinary residential building. The hall is quite spacious, decorated in shades of blue, gray and gold, and is recommended for visiting guests of no more than 20 people (according to the number of seats).
    3. Wedding Palace No. 4 - located at: st. Butyrskaya - 17. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 18.00 (lunch break from 14.00 to 15.00), in addition, the fourth Tuesday of the month is a sanitary day. It should be noted that palace workers register marriages not only of Russian citizens, but also of foreigners. This is the only Moscow palace that provides these services. The interior of the Palace is made in cozy pastel colors, the hall is spacious, equipped with a modern air conditioning system.
    4. Wedding Palace No. 5 - located at the address: Izmailovskoe highway-73zh. Opening hours: from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 17.30 (lunch from 13.30 to 15.00), in addition, the second Tuesday every month is a sanitary day. The luxurious interior of the Palace amazes with its grandeur and sophistication; it is made in rich pink colors with a unique painting. The capacity of the hall is 40 people.
    5. The Wedding Palace at VDNKh is located at 119 Mira Avenue, building 421. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 18.00 (break from 14.00 to 15.00), in addition, the first Tuesday of each month is a sanitary day. The modern room, with luxurious lighting, occupies a total area of 100 square meters. m., the interior is made in warm milky beige shades, the layout has such a peculiarity that guests invited to different events are unlikely to meet each other.
    6. The Wedding Palace in Kolomenskoye is located in the estate of Alexei Mikhailovich. Working hours are from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 18.00 (break from 14.00 to 15.00). This place is an excellent solution for couples in love who want to hold a magnificent celebration. All rooms have a different interior; the only thing they have in common is that it has been preserved in the appearance of a bygone era. Against the backdrop of such grandeur, exclusive wedding photos are obtained.

    The working hours of registry offices in Moscow are the same everywhere: working days from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 to 18.00, lunch break from 14.00 to 15.00.

    You can apply for official marriage registration from 9.00 to 17.30, however, you need to know that there is a break in filing applications (from 13.30 to 14.00). The registry offices have a sanitary day; it is the same for all departments - every month on the fourth Thursday.

    How it differs from a formal one: pros and cons

    Among the objective advantages of the simplified ceremony are:

    • budget , you will have to spend money exclusively on state fees;
    • efficiency - just 15 minutes, and you are already married;
    • the ability to reschedule the celebration itself to any day and arrange an off-site registration in a beautiful place in nature, a banquet in a cozy restaurant, or go on a trip;
    • lack of regulations on appearance or the presence of accessories (you can even do without rings);
    • no difficulties with accommodating guests if you are not getting married in your hometown;
    • informality , if for some reason you do not like the traditional wedding fuss.

    However, it cannot be said that a non-ceremonial ceremony is without its disadvantages:

    • many newlyweds lack the touchingness of the moment; the procedure seems too formal, crumpled, and uninteresting;
    • elderly conservative relatives will definitely not approve of this option;
    • and other acquaintances may begin to whisper about the reasons for the lack of a magnificent celebration;
    • lovely traditions, gifts, congratulations - all this will also be cut down, but only if you do not plan to organize a celebration for friends and relatives later.

    If you want the painting procedure to be seen by all your loved ones, the event will be surrounded by festive surroundings, music, the registry office employees will say prepared congratulations, and the bride and groom will look like in the picture, then it is better to choose a solemn option.

    If you prefer warm words from loved ones rather than from strangers, do not want formalities, do not perceive the registry office as a place where you can sincerely have fun, or are simply going to save money and time, then your option is a simplified procedure.

    FAQ

    Can they sign it in any registry office? Is it possible to register a marriage at a location other than your place of registration?

    According to the law, if both the bride and groom are citizens of the Russian Federation, then they can sign at any registry office on its territory at their place of residence. It does not matter where each of them is registered.

    Is it possible to change the registry office after submitting an application?

    No, unfortunately, this option is not provided. Marriage can only be concluded in the government agency to which the application was submitted. But at the same time, you can submit an application to several registry offices at once. In the future, when you finally decide on a place, you will need to write applications to refuse registration in other registry offices, so as not to deprive other couples of the opportunity to register in these registry offices at the same time.

    How long before the wedding should I apply?

    The application must be submitted at least 1 month before the wedding. Although in practice, it is better to do this in advance. In some cases, the deadlines may be reduced. All the details are in this article.

    How does the application process work?

    This article contains all the details, rules for newlyweds, restrictions that must be observed when submitting an application. In this article you will learn about how the whole procedure goes. Be sure to read this article before going to the registry office.

    What do you need to submit an application to the registry office?

    In order for the registry office to accept your application, you must first of all pay the state fee. The fee is only 350 rubles. You can find out about payment methods here.

    In addition, you need to collect all the necessary documents. Usually a passport is enough. But in some cases other documents may be needed.

    And, of course, the statement itself. You can download a blank form in advance and fill it out at home, saving time for yourself and the registry office staff. Links to downloads and a sample of correct filling on this page.

    How is it going at the registry office?

    Unlike a formal ceremony, such registration takes place not in a decorated hall, but in an ordinary office, and is more reminiscent of concluding a business agreement:

    1. The couple arrives at the appointed time and gives their passports to the employee;
    2. He checks the relevance of the data and prints out a form with a registration act - a special document with a unique number that will be stored in the registry office;
    3. Then, in some units, a short congratulatory speech is given;
    4. The bride and groom are asked a question about consent. If the answers are positive, a stamp is placed in both passports, as well as on the registration form. Brides who change their last name receive another note on the first page of their passport - stating that the document must be replaced within a month;
    5. Next, you need to put signatures: the head of the registry office - on the form, and the newlyweds - in the registration book;
    6. Newlyweds receive a completed marriage certificate and their passports.

    Registration ends here, and the rest of the celebration is no longer regulated, but it is held behind the walls of the registry office.

    Advice! If you plan to meet with relatives and friends after the painting, remember that by law, drinking alcoholic beverages near government institutions is prohibited, and the traditional glass of champagne, unfortunately, is no exception. So it’s better to wait for seating in cars, or even better, for a banquet in a restaurant.

    Documentation

    For the painting itself, you will only need your passports. Just in case, you can bring a copy of the receipt for payment of the state fee, but since you already submitted it when submitting the application, it is unlikely to be needed.

    Days

    The ceremony is scheduled for a free date, one month after submitting the application. If necessary, the period can be increased to two months.

    Usually these days are from Thursday to Sunday - the least busy days in the registry offices. If necessary or if you choose a date a couple of months in advance, you can agree on another day.

    Price

    The painting procedure itself is free, but you are required to pay a state fee of 350 rubles. Moreover, you pay it once, for a couple, and not each separately.

    The fee is paid in advance at a Sberbank branch or online using a card. The receipt is included in the package of documents that must be submitted along with the application. It is not necessary to bring it to the painting itself.

    Reasons why urgent marriage registration is allowed

    All exceptions that allow newlyweds to register their relationship urgently are specified in Article 11 of Federal Law No. 143. These include the following:

    • bride's pregnancy;
    • recent birth of a child;
    • the presence of a serious illness in one of the newlyweds or a threat to life;
    • urgent long-term business trip of one of the parties;
    • conscription into the army.

    It is necessary to provide an extended list of documents to obtain the right to urgent registration.

    Their list varies depending on the reason for using this right. Typically, the period for document verification is reduced to several days. But in exceptional cases, it is possible to get married in a non-ceremonial setting on the day the application is submitted.

    Is there a difference in filing an application?

    Legally, a non-solemn ceremony is no different from a solemn one. You also submit an application and a package of necessary documents. The application form is issued at the registry office or can be found and printed from the Internet.

    The form must be filled out legibly and neatly with a blue or black pen. Errors in the data will lead to documents being invalidated and will force you to go through the entire procedure again, which means a loss of time.

    In addition to the application, the package of documents includes:

    • passports or other identification documents (military ID, diplomatic passport, driver's license);
    • for those who remarry - a document on the dissolution of the previous marriage;
    • a receipt for payment of a fee in the amount of 350 rubles (one per couple of newlyweds);
    • if one of the future spouses is under 18 years old, then a document certifying the possibility of this marriage (permission of parents or guardians);
    • If you are getting married to a foreigner, you will need a visa confirming the legality of your stay on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as a notarized translation of documents confirming that there are no reasons preventing your wedding.

    Interesting! Only one of the young people can submit a personal application, bringing both packages of documents along with a notarized permission from the second. But registration itself requires the presence of both spouses.

    Through State Services

    You can submit your application in person at the branch of your choice or online on the State Services website. To do this, you need to register on it, select the tab about registering relationships, and then follow the instructions:

    • choose a suitable registry office;
    • date, time;
    • enter personal data;
    • pay the state fee.

    Submitting an application online allows you to sign up six months in advance, but does not allow you to indicate that you are choosing a non-celebratory ceremony. Therefore, closer to the point, you still need to visit the registry office and warn employees about the simplified ceremony.

    Public services are provided online 24 hours a day, so submitting an application to the Civil Registry Office via the Internet will not cause any problems. The video explains in detail how to do this:

    Where are marriages registered?

    For the state, marriage is a legal concept that lies within the realm of family law. A family is a mutual union of a man and a woman (monogamous), concluded in accordance with the procedure established by law.

    From the moment of marriage registration, spouses have equal rights and responsibilities towards each other and future children.

    This applies not only to property relations, but also to moral obligations.

    On the territory of the Russian Federation, only official unions - civil marriages - have legal force..

    This concept is enshrined in the Family Code. Although popularly, civil marriage is understood as simple cohabitation without registering the relationship. These concepts should not be confused. According to the letter of the law, cohabitation is called “de facto marriage”; it has no legal significance.

    Wedding is also not considered a legal form of marriage.

    In order for the family to acquire official status, the bride and groom must first visit the registry office, and then perform the Sacrament in the church.

    Consequently, marriage registration means its state recognition

    by making an entry in the Book of Deeds at the Civil Registry Office. Based on this entry, a marriage certificate is issued. It is the only evidence of a marriage, along with archival data from authorized bodies.

    Only a registered marriage entails legal consequences for both parties - personal and property rights.

    Emergency painting

    There are circumstances that can speed up the processing of your application. If there are documents confirming these circumstances, you are required to sign up within 1 to 5 days after their submission.

    You are eligible for expedited registration if:

    • the bride is pregnant (valid if the pregnancy is more than 10 weeks, and with a certificate from a gynecologist);
    • there is a danger to the life of one of the future spouses (serious illness or, for example, a contract in a hot spot);
    • one of the newlyweds will have to go on a long business trip (diplomat, military man, astronaut);
    • the couple has just had a child (in this case, registering the marriage makes it easier to register paternity).

    How to get married in another city?

    It happens that Cupid's arrow strikes far from his home - in a foreign land. What to do if you want to get married in a foreign city? If this is a “happy” place in Russia, there are no problems. The law allows the filing of an application regardless of the registration of future spouses.

    The only difficulty is that the registry offices of Moscow and St. Petersburg require a temporary registration document (more than 3 months). Otherwise, the application and registration procedure is standard for all localities in Russia.

    What to wear?

    There are no wishes regarding the appearance of the participants in the non-ceremonial registration. You can even come in jeans and T-shirts - some newlyweds choose just this option, appearing at the registry office in T-shirts with humorous inscriptions, for example, “my husband” or “my wife.” Casual clothes look no less creative, but with a flirty veil, or identical white shirts with jeans.

    If you are going to be photographed after marriage, then the appearance should still be thought out more carefully. The bride can wear a cocktail dress, and any length and color are acceptable. You can get a more unconventional look if you choose a skirt and blouse or even a pantsuit. And, of course, good old casual would be a great option.

    Hairstyle, accessories, makeup can be absolutely anything, depending on your taste. If you are planning to go to an outdoor or other celebration after registration, then nothing prevents you from coming in full dress; if not, you can get by with a regular bun or ponytail.

    The groom can also wear either a formal suit or something more informal. An ensemble of trousers and a shirt will look great, perhaps with additional accessories - a tie, vest, suspenders. The combination of a jacket and jeans is very stylish, but at the same time looks free.

    How many times can you “ring”?

    Citizens have the right to enter into as many marriages as their heart desires and as much as their wallet can handle.

    Men and women have equal rights in this matter. You can also go to the registry office with the same person an unlimited number of times (got married, got divorced, got married again, etc.).

    The only limitation is state-recognized monogamy in marital

    question, that is, a new marriage can be entered into only after a divorce. And no exceptions.

    In 2003, the initiative of one of the Russian deputies was discussed - to limit the number of permissible marriages.

    It was proposed to allow Russians to go to the registry office no more than three times. And if you feel the urge to enter into a fourth union, then only with the permission of the court for extenuating circumstances. The goal is to instill in citizens a serious attitude towards marriage and reduce divorce statistics. But the initiative did not find support.

    An American is still considered the record holder for the number of marriages - 104 women became his official chosen ones.

    Casanova went by 50 different names.

    Medical examination of persons entering into marriage in Russia is carried out by agreement of the parties. When submitting an application for marriage registration, you must pay a state fee. You can read about the payment procedure and amount in our article.

    You can change your surname at any time, even after marriage. You can find out how to do this here.

    Attributes

    There are no rules regarding traditional wedding attributes either. You can exchange rings, however, most likely, you will not have enough time to do this directly in the office. Nothing, however, prevents you from performing this ritual later, already leaving the office or even at an evening dinner.

    It is better to check with the employees of a particular department in advance about the possibility of photo and video shooting. Usually this is not prohibited, but it is better to make sure, since in some registry offices no one except the newlyweds are allowed into the non-ceremonial ceremony.

    If it was possible to agree on filming, then this important responsibility is usually assigned to the witness.

    Advice! Remember that there will be very little time for photos and videos, so it is better if the chosen person is fluent in using a camera and can do everything quickly but beautifully.

    When to apply?

    The usual period for this is one month. However, it can be reduced or increased if certain circumstances intervene.

    The waiting time for the wedding day is reduced if:

    • The couple is expecting a baby soon
    • The groom is being called up for military service or is already in military service
    • The bride or groom has a long trip ahead - for example, a business trip

    This period can be increased by no more than a month if the delay is due to the sudden illness of the bride or groom or the need for a long trip.

    Each of the described cases must be officially confirmed - a certificate from a doctor, a summons from the military registration and enlistment office, official documents from the place of work and others.

    In addition, during certain periods the number of people wishing to have a wedding increases significantly: summer and early autumn are the busiest months of the year, so it makes sense to submit an application to the registry office early. This is completely acceptable and allows you to calmly plan the upcoming celebration exactly the way you want.

    Photo

    The moment of the birth of a new family is one of the main events in the life of loving hearts. And it is not so important how the marriage is registered; only those feelings that the newly-made spouses experience at this solemn moment are significant. Photos will help you preserve wonderful moments:

    How to choose a registry office for marriage registration

    Choosing a registry office or wedding palace is voluntary. Many couples choose a marriage registration office located in close proximity to the wedding venue.

    Someone fundamentally does not want to enter into a family union at the registry office, where not only marriage ceremonies are held, but also the death of a person, the birth of a child, etc. are registered. For especially suspicious people, the best solution would be to register at the Wedding Palace, where the upcoming event will be held in a particularly solemn atmosphere.
