Gleb Rudolfovich Samoilov (born 1970) is a Soviet and Russian musician, poet, composer, leader of the rock band The Matrixx, and formerly one of the lead singers of the Agatha Christie group. Younger brother of Vadim Samoilov.
There are many interesting facts in the biography of Gleb Samoilov, which we will discuss in this article.
So, here is a short biography of Samoilov.
Biography of Gleb Samoilov
Gleb Samoilov was born on August 4, 1970 in the Russian city of Asbest. He grew up and was brought up in a simple family that had nothing to do with music. His father worked as an engineer, and his mother was a doctor.
Childhood and youth
Gleb began to show interest in music at an early age. According to him, at that period of his biography he was fond of the work of the Pink Floyd group, Vysotsky, Schnittke, and also loved operetta.
Gleb Samoilov with his older brother
It is worth noting that his older brother Vadim also liked a similar genre of music. For this reason, the boys, even in childhood, began to make plans to create a musical group.
When Gleb Samoilov wanted to learn to play musical instruments, his parents sent him to a music school to study piano. However, after attending several classes, he decided to quit his studies due to heavy workload.
As a result, Gleb independently mastered playing the guitar and piano. At school, he received rather mediocre grades, showing no interest in the exact sciences. Instead, he read various books and was a very dreamy and intelligent child.
In the 6th grade, Samoilov played bass guitar several times in the school ensemble, and in high school he tried to create his own rock band. At that point in his biography, he was already writing songs. An interesting fact is that he composed his first composition, “The Janitor,” at the age of 14.
Gleb's older brother, Vadim, had a great influence on him. It was he who found records with Western bands, which he then gave to Gleb to listen to.
Having received the certificate, Samoilov intended to enter the local institute in the history department, but was unable to pass the exams. After that, he got a job at a school as an assistant laboratory assistant.
When Gleb was about 18 years old, he became a student at a music school, studying bass guitar. However, after studying at the school for six months, he decided to quit. This was due to lack of time, since by that time he was already performing with his group.
Biography
The future musician spent his childhood in the city of Asbest. Mom is a resuscitator, father is an engineer.
I didn’t study at a music school, but I independently mastered playing the guitar and piano, and in the sixth grade I played the bass guitar a couple of times in the school ensemble. After graduating from school, he tried to enter the history department, but failed the entrance exams. After that, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the same school where he studied. In 1988, he entered the music school to study bass guitar, but dropped out after the first semester, as he actively performed with Agatha Christie.
"Agatha Christie"
Main article: Agatha Christie (band)
Gleb Samoilov is not one of the founders of the Agatha Christie group. He joined Pyotr May, Alexander Kozlov and his older brother Vadim Samoilov in 1987.
The official birthday of Agatha Christie is considered to be February 20, 1988, when the first concert of the group under this name took place in the assembly hall of the Ural Polytechnic Institute.
Since 1991 and until recently, he was the main author of words and music in the group. Most of the songs, including some hits, were written by him.
Played Gibson Les Paul Standard, Ibanez Roadstar II Bass and Rickenbacker Bass 4001JG guitars. Currently plays electric guitar.
In February 2015, he took part in the nostalgic Agatha Christie concert together with his brother Vadim.
The Matrixx
Main article: The Matrixx
In 2009, Agatha Christie announced the breakup and the start of the Epilogue farewell tour, which ended with a set at the Invasion festival on July 10, 2010.
In January 2010, a new project was founded - “Gleb Samoiloff & The Matrixx”.
“Agatha Christie” winked meaningfully and betrayed a reserve of almost romantic irony with her characteristic restlessness. Here anxiety, confusion turns into mercilessness, the scalpel of satire appears, radical sentiments appear in full force. But despite all the necessary and inevitable aggression, there is not and cannot be a straightforward primitiveness here. "The Matrix" tries to work with all sorts of challenges of time. Disputes about how one or another passage should be read, opposing interpretations of provocative gestures will inevitably accompany the movement “Gleb Samoiloff & The MatriXX”. All the more interesting. To provoke means to pull the listener out of the comfortable chair in which he was almost overwhelmed by the narcotic TV stream.

Then the group successfully released the albums “Beautiful is Cruel”, “Trash”, “Alive but Dead”, the acoustic album “Light”, “Massacre in Asbest” for several years.
Solo projects
In addition to working in groups, Gleb recorded a solo album in 1990 called “Little Fritz” and in 1991 the album “Svi100dlyaska”, which remained unreleased due to the fact that the album’s material was lost. In 2008, an intermediate demo version of the album, recorded on audio cassette, appeared on the Internet.
He took part in the project “Raquel Meller” together with Alexander F. Sklyar[2], where they performed cover versions of songs by Alexander Vertinsky. The project has existed since 2005. The song “Torn the Dream” is dedicated to Ilya Kormiltsev. This song, by agreement between Vadim and Gleb in 2010, is included in the solo repertoire of the group “The Matrixx”.
In 2015, together with Vasya Oblomov, he recorded the song “Always Live”.
Other non-musical projects
2005 - Voiced the mayor (sad face) in the Russian dubbing of the cartoon-musical “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
2015 - Took part in the dubbing into Russian of the documentary film “Black Fin”.
Music
By the end of 1987, Gleb Samoilov began traveling to Sverdlovsk for rehearsals with his older brother Vadim and his friend Alexander Kozlov, who had already performed at city amateur competitions on the basis of the radio engineering department of the Ural Polytechnic Institute.
The guys rehearsed within the walls of their native university, where they made their first electrical program. The musicians were looking for a suitable name for the group, going through a variety of options. As a result, Kozlov suggested calling the team “Agatha Christie”.
Agatha Christie gave her first concert in the assembly hall of the institute on February 20, 1988. A few months later, the guys recorded their debut album, “Second Front.”
Gleb and Vadim
A year later, the group presented their second album, “Cunning and Love.” At the same time, Gleb Samoilov was actively working on recording a solo disc, which was released in 1990 under the name “Little Fritz”.
Cassettes with “Little Fritz” were distributed only among Gleb’s friends and acquaintances. In 5 years the album will be digitized and released on CDs.
Since 1991, Gleb has been the author of virtually all the lyrics and music of Agatha Christie. An interesting fact is that during that period of his biography Samoilov played the bass guitar while sitting on a chair on the edge of the stage.
According to the musician, he preferred to stay on the sidelines due to stage fright. This continued until 1995. At one of the performances, Gleb had an attack of claustrophobia. He stood up abruptly, pushing back his chair and after that he played the guitar only while standing.
In 1991, Agatha Christie presented the album Decadence, and a year later Samoilov released his second solo album Svi100dlyaska.
Gleb Samoilov and the Agatha Christie group
In 1993, the rock group recorded the landmark disc “Shameful Star,” which, in addition to the song of the same name, also contained the compositions “Hysteria,” “Freely,” and the immortal hit “Like in War.” After this, the musicians gained fantastic popularity along with a huge army of fans.
A couple of years later, the legendary record “Opium” was released, which brought them even greater fame. From all the windows came the songs “Eternal Love”, “Black Moon”, “Heterosexual” and many others.
Despite the incredible rise in their careers, there were many serious disagreements between the musicians. Gleb Samoilov began to use drugs and abuse alcohol, which was noticeable not only in his behavior, but also in the manner of singing his songs.
He was able to overcome his heroin addiction around 2000, and later he managed to get rid of his excessive addiction to alcohol. He achieved such success thanks to treatment in the appropriate clinic.
By that time, Agatha Christie had released 3 more albums: “Hurricane”, “Miracles” and “Mine Kaif?”. In 2004, the musicians presented their ninth studio album “Thriller. Part 1", which was published after a 3-year creative crisis associated with the death of keyboardist Alexander Kozlov.
In 2009, the group decides to cease to exist. The reason for the collapse was the different musical preferences of the Samoilov brothers. Agatha Christie's last album was Epilogue. In the same year, this record was presented by the group on the farewell tour of the same name.
The last performance took place in July 2010 as part of the rock festival “Invasion”. Soon Gleb founded a new group “The Matrixx”, with which he still gives concerts to this day.
In the period 2010-2017. The Matrixx musicians recorded 6 albums: “The Beautiful is Cruel”, “Trash”, “Alive but Dead”, “Light”, “Asbestos Massacre” and “Hello”. In addition to touring with the group, Gleb Samoilov often performs solo.
In 2005, the rocker and his brother participated in the dubbing of the cartoon “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” After this, Gleb, together with Alexander Sklyar, made a program based on the songs of Alexander Vertinsky, calling it “Farewell dinner with Raquel Meller.”
Monte Carlo station
Alexey Kortnev: What, in your opinion, is the fundamental difference between The Matrixx and Agatha Christie?
Gleb Samoilov: I know what the similarities are - that there is no style. The style changes from album to album. Now we'll find something else.
Alexey Kortnev: The most prestigious resort, symphony halls... In 1998, Russian rockers came to Monte Carlo on an official trip. That year, the Agatha Christie group was recognized as the leader in record sales in Russia and was invited to the World Music Award. Unfortunately, this did not become a sensation...
Gleb Samoilov: Because television did not buy the rights to show this wonderful event.
Alexey Kortnev: Those who closely followed this ceremony caught that it was you, Gleb, who then said “Thank you to the city of Azbest.” Many people think that you and your brother were born in Yekaterinburg, but in fact...
Gleb Samoilov: Vadik was born in Yekaterinburg, and I was born in Azbest.
Alexey Kortnev: I know that many touching memories of your childhood, of sunsets and sunrises, of your apartment on the top floor, are associated with this city. Tell me please.
Gleb Samoilov: Dad was the first person to receive higher education in his native village. He studied at the Mining Institute in Sverdlovsk. And the city of Azbest was then being developed, and a whole team of young specialists was sent there. When mom and dad gave birth to their second child, that is, me, they were given a new apartment - in 1972, when I was already two years old. I remember this moment - the old apartment and the new one. There were five-story and nine-story Khrushchev buildings built specifically for the elite of the city of Azbest. You don’t have to laugh, because Kaganovich lived out his days there. From the window I could see the Central Ural pine forest.
Alexey Kortnev: Were your first steps musical and did they take place there?
Gleb Samoilov: Yes, and they continued to pass for a long time. I inherited a piano - Vadik was finishing music school, so we bought it for him - and a guitar. I couldn't pass by. As a matter of fact, we developed in parallel and then came together in the Agatha Christie group.
Alexey Kortnev: Before that, you managed to work in a clinic...
Gleb Samoilov: I worked at the clinic because I was serving my military service and did not go to the collective farm with the whole school. This was the first year when there was a choice: you could work in the city for two weeks or weed beets on a collective farm. I won't say it was a shock. Before that, I had seen paintings by Goya and other terrible science fiction writers, but I was obliged to enter without knocking on any doors to an appointment, to bring a sick card. What kind of women go to the clinic? Only the sick. The first naked women I saw in large numbers were these.
Alexey Kortnev: Is that why your first songs were not imbued with the spirit of romance?
Gleb Samoilov: I started writing songs even before I became a man.
The conflict between the Samoilov brothers
At the beginning of 2015, at the request of his older brother, Gleb Samoilov agreed to participate in the “Nostalgic Concerts” of Agatha Christie, after which a conflict began over the unpaid fee.
Vadim continued to tour different cities and countries using the Agatha Christie brand, as well as performing songs written by his younger brother. As soon as Gleb found out about this, he sued his brother, accusing him of copyright infringement.
The musician also filed a lawsuit related to the unpaid fee, which he was entitled to after the end of the “Nostalgic Concerts”. This led to protracted legal proceedings, which were actively discussed in the press and on TV.
As a result, Gleb’s copyright claim was denied, but the financial claim was recognized as justified, as a result of which the court ordered Vadim to pay the corresponding amount to his younger brother.
Relations between the brothers deteriorated further amid the conflict in Donbass. Gleb was a supporter of the integrity of Ukraine, while Vadim stated the opposite.
Personal life
Over the years of his personal biography, Samoilov married three times. His first wife was the artist Tatyana, whom he married in 1996. In this union, the couple had a boy, Gleb.
Over time, the couple decided to divorce, as a result of which the child remained to live with his mother.
After this, Samoilov married designer Anna Chistova. However, this marriage also did not last long. After that, he dated for some time with Valeria Gai Germanika and Ekaterina Biryukova, but none of the girls were able to conquer the musician.
In April 2021, journalist Tatyana Larionova became Gleb’s third wife. Interestingly, the man is 18 years older than his beloved. She helped her husband undergo a complex operation after he was diagnosed with a benign tumor.
The disease negatively affected his appearance, behavior and speech. Rumors began to circulate that the man had suffered a stroke or started drinking again. However, he denied all these gossips.

Valeria spent a million rubles on Samoilov’s treatment for alcoholism
The odious and controversial young lady Valeria Gai GERMANIKA has found a man to match her. And now, with professional care, he directs his personal life with the former lead singer of the Agatha Christie group Gleb SAMOILOV, pushing him into the “frame” of life, naively believing that it is a movie.
It was not by chance that they met. 26-year-old Valeria Gai Germanika calls 40-year-old Gleb Samoilov her karmic husband, that is, destined by fate.
When the director was filming the last episodes of “School”, she dreamed of Gleb. In the dream, the rocker told the girl: “I want to become a goth.” Lera replied: “I’m a Goth. I’ll tell you all about them.” When she woke up, the first thing she did was go on the Internet to find out what was happening to Gleb. It turned out that after the collapse of Agatha Christie, Samoilov put together a new group, The Matrixx, in the Gothic style. The superstitious Valeria saw this as a sign and began vigorous activity. When she received the musician’s mobile phone, she wrote him an SMS: “Gleb, this is Lera Germanika. I want to meet you. Come up with something." The subscriber did not respond. But Germanika finally got hold of Gleb through the director of the Agatha Christie group.
- The room is flooded with blood, I'm making love. “A hundred vaginas, and I’m alone,” Gleb SAMOILOV sang to his beloved, and in response she sent him to an alcohol dispensary. At the same time, she herself is not going to part with her drink. |
— Hello, Valeria.
This is Gleb Samoilov. Forgive me, please, I am not familiar with your work. And I don’t even know who Germanica is. But if you want, we can meet,” the musician finally answered the call. On the same day, Lera asked the make-up artists of the TV series “School” to give her a stunning make-up, dressed up, booked a table at a restaurant and picked up Gleb in a car with a personal driver. She put the rocker in the car and took him to feed, drink, and please him. At the establishment, the girl, out of excitement, ordered herself vodka, Gleb, for the sake of keeping up appearances, drank tea.
“We talked for a very long time - the conversation flowed by itself,” Germanika recalls. “I fell even more in love and didn’t know how to demonstrate my sympathy. I also wanted to show my importance, because Gleb had no idea who I was. Apparently, that’s why I suddenly blurted out: “I have money - I can make a video for you.”

The musician was not excited by his new acquaintance, and even more so, for a long time after the first meeting he did not make himself known. Germanika herself began to write him SMS and call him. A month passed like this. And one day Gleb admitted that he had not had a woman for four months. Valeria realized that this was her chance. She immediately sent Samoilov a bottle of vodka with a driver. Gleb said that it was somehow wrong to drink it alone, and invited Lera to visit. “The fish swallowed the bait,” Germanika rejoiced. Gleb unexpectedly declared right on the threshold: “Lera, I love you.” He was already pretty drunk, so Valeria decided to come to her idol in the morning when he sobered up. As promised, she showed up with food and new drinks. The musician, exhausted from such care, finally gave himself up to the purposeful girl. From that day on, Germanika settled in Gleb’s apartment and gradually moved her belongings from her parents, where she lived with her 2-year-old daughter Octavia.

Sacrifices for God
First of all, Valeria went to a tattoo parlor and tattooed a huge red heart entwined with roses on her arm.
“This is a memory of first love,” says Lera. “After all, before Gleb, I didn’t experience such feelings. I didn’t even think that love could be so powerful. He is my soul mate, my only and main husband!
The couple has been together for more than six months. From the first day of the relationship, Valeria lost her head in love.
“Maybe this is also because I didn’t have much experience in love affairs,” the girl admitted to Express Gazeta. — I have never lived in a civil marriage. And before Gleb, the last time I had sex with my daughter’s father was three years ago!
The obsession that Lera experiences is called love addiction in psychology.
“I’m no longer interested in my career, my life,” says Germanika. — My only project is our relationship with Gleb. I live his problems, his affairs, his world.
Lera’s biological father is journalist Igor Dudinsky (he was against the birth of his daughter and abandoned Valeria’s mother when the girl was not even a year old. - N. Sh.) is categorically against the new battle.
friend of the heiress.
GERMANIKA's dad Igor DUDINSKY doesn't love Gleb, but that doesn't stop him from kissing him |
“Dudinsky believes that I have degenerated,” says Lera.
- And in some ways he is right. During the months that I was with Gleb, I never filmed or came up with anything. For the first time in my life I loved someone more than myself. Lera has found her god in Gleb, to whom she often brings offerings. The video for the first song of the group “The Matrixx” “Nobody Survived” was paid for and filmed by Germanika herself. Then she organized a photo shoot for the album and hired a famous artist to design the cover. Gleb took all these broad gestures for granted.
“I am in excessive demand among women,” Gleb told us. - For me, such treatment is the norm. I even came up with a song on this topic: “A hundred vaginas - and I’m alone.”
By the way, Samoilov dedicated this song to Germanica at the concert.
“He gives me one song, and I give him my whole life,” Lera throws up her hands. - This was his only gift for six months of relationship. Recently I told him that I am a woman, and women should at least be given flowers. And he immediately ran to the flower stall and bought a beautiful bouquet. And the next day he gave me an iPhone, which I immediately lost.

Black sheets
Gleb Samoilov, as it turned out, is an expensive pleasure. Lera has completely updated her beloved’s wardrobe, furnished his rented apartment, hired a housekeeper, and pays for food and drinks.
“I’m very far from everyday life,” says Lera, “I was spoiled by my parents.” I can't do anything with my hands. I can’t even heat water and make tea, much less wash my underpants and socks.
But today Germanika is slowly learning the basics of cooking, although she had previously shrugged it off:
“I definitely won’t cook borscht for Gleb and make cutlets!”
“Gleb is a brilliant artist,” says Germanika, “so I buy him flowers every day.” Yes, in relationships I am a real man.
Valeria ordered a silver ring with a wolf and a she-wolf with emerald eyes for her beloved from a jewelry workshop.
At the same time, Valeria actively participates in the spiritual life of the musician: she introduces him to the capital’s creative elite and negotiates with foreign musicians.
“Now my social circle boils down to the group “The Matrixx” and Valeria Gai Germanika, with whom I live,” states Samoilov.
“We’ve been having sex for days!” - Germanika admits. “The bed has turned into our habitat - here we not only sleep and love, but also eat, watch movies, listen to music, and write. The bed is a calm zone. The most peaceful time is the first 15 minutes after sleep, when we lie in an embrace.
And then they begin to sort things out, and Germanika and Samoilov still communicate on first name terms.
“And I’m generally on first-name terms with all my men,” says Lera. - I think it's very erotic! During sex, Gleb says: “You, Valeria...”
Germanika let us know that during orgasm Gleb Samoilov cries, and she has to calm him down and stroke his head like a child. In general, the couple, as it turned out, have a lot of duvet deviations: “We are real goths, we even have black sheets!” Gleb is also a fan of stockings and loves to tear Lera’s tights during sex.
“We both love cruelty towards our neighbors,” says Germanika. “And once I cut off all of Gleb’s pubic hair, it was so funny!” In general, Gleb and I have parted ways “forever” a hundred times already. Immediately we begin to thump hard. I immediately want to die and kill Gleb so that no one gets him.
- It’s hell with you and without you. But still, hell is worse when you’re not around,” Gleb once said to Lera.
This is striking: Germanika picked up the man of her dreams already at the end of his fame, drunk, and of no particular use to anyone. And now he really wants to go out. Save!
“I’m an angel,” Lera Aguzarova - I'm not from this planet.

I want but I can not
Gleb is constantly tossed from side to side: either he was on hard drugs, or thanks to Konstantin Kinchev he became passionately interested in Orthodoxy. Today Samoilov has a new direction - he has become politically and socially active. That is why the Agatha Christie group broke up: she and her brother Vadim disagreed.
Samoilov was recently seen with a broken nose; he says he slipped in the bathroom. As we were told by those around the couple, in fact the musician was injured during a fight with his lover.
“Literally in September, Gleb made a difficult decision: for me to give birth to a baby,” says Lera. “After that he drank for two days.
And then, unexpectedly, Germanika and Samoilov began to have problems with sex. Years of drinking took their toll - the rocker began to develop sexual dysfunction, and satisfying a young hot girl became a problem. Then Valeria suggested that the faithful be encrypted. “I drank, I drink and I will drink,” Gleb answered.
“Lera is trying to limit my drinking,” the musician complained to everyone then. “But it only turns me on even more.” I don't like it when people forbid me something.
Then Germanica first introduced a moratorium on sex, and then threatened to break up. The ultimatum worked. Gleb finally drank himself to death, and the girl took his lifeless body to the medical building of the famous Marshak in the village of Alabino near Moscow. This happened on the eve of Samoilov’s concert in October, which had to be cancelled.
“They took a special genetic analysis from Gleb,” clinic doctor Alina Romanovna told Express Gazeta. — It was necessary to identify the cause of alcoholism at the DNA level.
From 8 am to 11 pm Samoilov is undergoing procedures. First, he was thoroughly cleansed of toxins, then a course was started: drips with medications, physical education, psychoanalysis (they prove to the patient that he is an alcoholic), procedures such as a pressure chamber, massage and a special diet (carbohydrates are excluded). Gleb Samoilov is still undergoing treatment. They took his mobile phone and locked him in a “safe.” First, Valeria dials the phone number of the attending physician Samoilov and tells him what time she will call her beloved. The doctor brings Gleb’s mobile phone, and he communicates with Lera in the presence of the doctor. Meetings are allowed once a week. Once, after such a visit, Valeria complained to friends that she had pumped more than a million into Samoilov: a 21-day course costs 599,000 rubles, and Samoilov has already gone to the second round.
At the same time, Germanika herself did not give up alcohol. The other day she threw a party for close friends in one of the clubs in Moscow, where she performed on stage with St. Petersburg rapper Kach . After Leroy drank several glasses of vodka, she was taken away from the establishment. The next day, she and Dudinsky got drunk in the morning. And at that time her little daughter was sleeping in the next room...

Gleb Samoilov today
Gleb is still actively touring different cities and countries with the group “The Matrixx”. The band has an official website where fans can find out about the musicians' upcoming concerts.
In 2021, Samoilov sent a note of protest to the Irish group "DARK" regarding the song "Loosen the noose", which was identical to his hit "I'll Be There". As a result, the Irish paid the corresponding money to the ex-soloist of Agatha Christie and put his name on the cover of their album.
