Evgenia Kregzhde - biography, photo, personal life, news, filmography 2021

Childhood and youth

Evgeniya was born and raised in Riga in a family of teachers. The actress is Latvian by nationality. The surname in her homeland sounds like Kryagzhde and is translated as “swallow”.

My parents devoted their lives to the exact sciences - physics and mathematics, and my mother even rose to the position of school director in the teaching field. She managed to create one of the most powerful schools in the capital of Latvia where information systems are studied. In addition to Zhenya, her older brother Sergei was brought up in the family.

As people who are accustomed to analyzing and planning everything, the parents calculated the entire future fate of their daughter, including her career, which, of course, was not associated at all with acting.

Evgeniya Kregzhde in her youth

But little Zhenya was not happy with mom and dad’s plans. She grew up as a rather reserved and constrained child. In an interview, Kregzhde recalled that at school she kept herself apart from the other children and was somewhat of a recluse.

As a teenager, Kregzhde was included in the composition of the students participating in the production of a school play based on the works of the great poetess Marina Tsvetaeva. Evgenia read from the stage the poem “My dear, what have I done to you?” and it was at that moment that I realized that I had found a wonderful way to tell other people about my own experiences and problems.

However, my father and mother did not want to hear anything about any theater school. They insisted that Zhenya enter one of the prestigious Riga universities, and the girl studied for a year to become a culture and tourism manager. In the evenings she attended an amateur theater studio. And one day my mother attended a performance, where, looking at her daughter’s performance, she sobbed throughout the performance.

It was then that a compromise was found: Evgenia was allowed to make one attempt to enter the institute of her dreams, but if she failed, she would finish her studies at her current university and would not return to this idea again. Kregzhde went to Moscow and on the first try convinced the examination committee of the B.V. Shchukin Theater School to accept her as a student.

An excerpt characterizing Kregzhde, Evgenia Vitalievna

“I’m unlikely to take advantage of your hospitality, gentlemen, and now it’s time for me to go,” Bolkonsky said, looking at his watch. - Where? - To the emperor. - ABOUT! O! O! - Well, goodbye, Bolkonsky! Goodbye, prince; “Come to dinner earlier,” voices were heard. - We are taking care of you. “Try to praise the order in the delivery of provisions and routes as much as possible when you speak with the emperor,” said Bilibin, escorting Bolkonsky to the front hall. “And I would like to praise, but I can’t, as much as I know,” Bolkonsky answered smiling. - Well, in general, talk as much as possible. His passion is audiences; but he himself does not like to speak and does not know how, as you will see. On the way out, Emperor Franz only gazed intently at the face of Prince Andrei, who stood in the appointed place between the Austrian officers, and nodded his long head to him. But after leaving yesterday’s wing, the adjutant politely conveyed to Bolkonsky the emperor’s desire to give him an audience. Emperor Franz received him, standing in the middle of the room. Before starting the conversation, Prince Andrei was struck by the fact that the emperor seemed confused, not knowing what to say, and blushed. – Tell me, when did the battle begin? – he asked hastily. Prince Andrei answered. This question was followed by other, equally simple questions: “Is Kutuzov healthy? How long ago did he leave Krems?” etc. The Emperor spoke with such an expression as if his whole goal was only to ask a certain number of questions. The answers to these questions, as was too obvious, could not interest him. – At what time did the battle begin? - asked the emperor. “I can’t tell your Majesty at what time the battle began from the front, but in Dürenstein, where I was, the army began the attack at 6 o’clock in the evening,” said Bolkonsky, perking up and at the same time assuming that he would be able to present what was already ready in his head a true description of everything that he knew and saw. But the emperor smiled and interrupted him: “How many miles?” - From where and to where, Your Majesty? – From Durenstein to Krems? - Three and a half miles, Your Majesty. -Have the French left the left bank? “As the scouts reported, the last ones crossed on rafts that night. – Is there enough fodder in Krems? – The fodder was not delivered in that quantity... The Emperor interrupted him. - At what time was General Schmit killed?... - At seven o’clock, it seems. - At 7:00. Very sad! Very sad! The Emperor said his thanks and bowed. Prince Andrei came out and was immediately surrounded on all sides by courtiers. Kind eyes looked at him from all sides and gentle words were heard. Yesterday's adjutant reproached him for not staying at the palace and offered him his home. The Minister of War approached, congratulating him on the Order of Maria Theresa, 3rd class, which the Emperor had bestowed upon him. The Empress's chamberlain invited him to see Her Majesty. The Archduchess also wanted to see him. He didn’t know who to answer, and took a few seconds to collect his thoughts. The Russian envoy took him by the shoulder, took him to the window and began to talk to him. Contrary to Bilibin’s words, the news he brought was received joyfully. A thanksgiving service was scheduled. Kutuzov was awarded the Grand Cross by Maria Theresa, and the entire army received decorations. Bolkonsky received invitations from all sides and had to make visits to the main dignitaries of Austria all morning. Having finished his visits at five o'clock in the evening, mentally composing a letter to his father about the battle and about his trip to Brunn, Prince Andrei returned home to Bilibin. At the porch of the house occupied by Bilibin, a britzka half-stuffed with belongings stood, and Franz, Bilibin’s servant, with difficulty dragging his suitcase, came out of the door. Before going to Bilibin, Prince Andrei went to a bookstore to stock up on books for the trip and sat in the shop. - What's happened? – asked Bolkonsky. - Ach, Erlaucht? - said Franz, with difficulty loading the suitcase into the chaise. – Wir ziehen noch weiter. Der Bosewicht ist schon wieder hinter uns her! [Ah, your Excellency! We go even further. The villain is already on our heels again.]

Theater

After graduating from high school, the girl joined the troupe of the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater, where she made her debut with the main role in the play “Mademoiselle Nitouche.” The artist got into the leading cast almost by accident: Nonna Grishaeva, who played the main character, went on maternity leave, and there weren’t many young people in the theater at that time. Later, the role of Valentina in the production of “Last Summer in Chulimsk” appeared in Kregzhde’s repertoire.

Most of Evgenia’s work was subsequently carried out under the guidance of the director and artistic director of the theater Rimas Tuminas. For his great contribution to the development of theatrical art in the year of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Theater. The actress E. B. Vakhtangov received gratitude from the Minister of Culture.

Professional activity

After graduating from a theater university in 2005, the young actress was accepted by Mikhail Aleksandrovich Ulyanov into the troupe at the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater. The girl was warmly received by the cast, and she managed to avoid the pitfalls of competition. The girl’s debut work on the theater stage was the four-hour musical production “Mademoiselle Nitouche,” where she immediately played the main role - boarding school student Denise. Two years later, Rimas Tuminas became the artistic director of the theater.

Tuminas’s opinion was important for Evgenia, since he, first of all, cultivates an individual and talented personality in the young actress. For any manifestation of pride, the actress received a punch in the nose from her teacher. Evgenia learned to understand him perfectly. His comments always make the young actress stronger and more professional. When the teacher is silent, the girl always knows that he is pleased with her performance on stage.

Among the performances in which Evgenia subsequently took part are the productions “Eugene Onegin”, “Cyrano de Bergerac”, “Uncle Vanya”, “The Truest Legend of One Quarter” and “Measure for Measure”. Playing in different performances, the actress gets to know the world and the people around her.

The girl also collaborated as a guest actress with the following theater projects: Independent and Theater Center on Strastnoy. On the Free Stage, Evgenia played in the play The Thunderstorm, for which she received the Crystal Turandot award and was named best actress of the year.

Today Evgenia is the leading young actress of the Vakhtangov Theater. Directors, including Rimas Tuminas, Yuri Butusov, Yuri Lyubimov, Ulanbek Bayaliev and others, trust the girl with leading roles in their performances. When an actress gets leading roles one after another, this significantly complicates relationships with other theater artists. But Evgenia does not pay attention to this, since she came to the theater in order to work fruitfully and serve him.

The girl made her film debut in 2003, while a student at the Shchukin Institute. Evgenia played a cameo role in the action film “Instructor” directed by Evgeny Serov (film No. 4). The series was based on the works of the master of modern detective in Russia Andrei Voronin about the fate of a former special forces soldier. Later, Evgenia starred in the tragicomedy “Silver Lily of the Valley 2” and the melodrama “On Verkhnyaya Maslovka”.

Evgenia’s filmography currently includes more than 20 film projects. Notable works in the actress’s film career are: “We’ve come in large numbers here” (Alena), “The Far Side of the Moon 2” (Nadya), “The Geographer Drank the Globe Away” (teacher Sashenka), “These Eyes Opposite” (Nina).

From 2006 to 2007, the girl took part in the successful humorous project “Women’s League” (first season). Afterwards, Evgenia was invited to the top-rated sketch show “Give Youth!” , in which the actress played many different roles. Most of all, TV viewers remembered the girl as the chav Zinaida Komkova, nicknamed Shakira. Evgenia’s partners in the project were: Andrey Burkovsky, Mikhail Bashkatov and others.

In 2009, the actress could be seen playing as part of the Tomsk team “Maximum” on the stage of the KVN festival “Voting Kivin”. That year they won the honorary prize “Big Kivin in Light” (second place).

In 2021, the actress participated in the dance show on Channel One “Ice Age” (sixth season), where she and her partner Povilas Vanagas took an honorable second place.

In 2021, the young actress could be seen in such films as “The Reserve”, “The Player”, “Dad, Die”, and in the short film “Solo”. Today, Evgenia agrees to play only those film roles in which she can truly reveal herself. It is very important for an actress to feel proud of her work and be responsible for every second spent on stage or on the set.

Movies

Evgenia Kregzhde began appearing in films starting from her 2nd year at the institute. She has had episodic roles in the detective story “The Instructor,” the tragicomedy “Silver Lily of the Valley” and the film adaptation of Dina Rubina’s novel “On Verkhnyaya Maslovka.” The actress’s more serious participation in the film “Love is Like Love” allowed her to get a place in new films, including the main role in the melodrama “We’re Here in Large Numbers.”

Kregzhde's all-Russian fame was brought to him by the sensational tragicomedy “The Geographer Drank His Globe Away,” based on the novel of the same name by Alexei Ivanov. The main role in the film adaptation was played by Konstantin Khabensky. Evgeniya Kregzhde reincarnated as kindergarten teacher Sashenka.

The tragicomedy shows the life of teachers, not hiding the lack of money in this profession, but also the desire of young teachers to help children, participate in the lives of students and bring knowledge.

Among the artist’s striking works, it is worth noting the biographical drama about the singer Valery Obodzinsky “These Eyes Opposite”. The musical series showed the difficult life of the Soviet singer. Obodzinsky (Vyacheslav Chepurchenko and Alexey Barabash) from an unknown guy from Odessa turned into a pop star who sang lyrics instead of Komsomol hymns.

Just as quickly, the singer lost fame and permission to perform and was forced to work as a watchman until loyal fans found the musician. Evgenia played the role of Nina, Kulikov’s daughter.

In addition, the actress appeared in the 2nd season of the popular comedy “The Far Side of the Moon” with Pavel Derevyanko in the title role. Eugenia Kregzhde played the role of Nadya, the ex-wife of the main character. The detective story with elements of science fiction and fantasy continues the line of the 1st season. The character of Pavel returns from the past to our time, but makes a mistake and ends up in a world where perestroika did not take place in the USSR.
