Childhood and youth
Elena Alekseevna Starostina was born in Volgograd on May 17, 1964. As a child, Lena was very artistic and always dreamed of working on television. Nevertheless, after graduating from school, she first entered the music school, and then, after graduating from it, the Volgograd Institute of Civil Engineering.
However, the “non-core” higher education received in her youth and the move to Ulyanovsk did not force Elena to give up her dream. After working for some time at Ulyanovskavtodor, in 1986 the girl learned that a vacancy had appeared in the city for a television announcer.
The desire to get this particular job forced Elena to neglect formalities in her youth. The studio demanded male applicants and asked them to submit applications in writing, but Starostina came to the employers in person and stated that she wanted to work. Despite the confusion from the girl’s excessive courage, she was accepted. This is how Elena’s television biography began.
A television
In 1990, Lena decided to move to Moscow and get another education, this time in the field of journalism. In the capital, she entered the required faculty at the Youth Institute under the Central Committee of the Komsomol and the State Committee for Labor of the USSR (current Moscow State University). Her studies followed an accelerated course, but even during her 1.5 years as a student, Starostina managed to learn a lot in the field of journalism. As a correspondent for television channels during this period, she undertook to cover everything from fashion trends to the political life of the country.
Having received a diploma from the institute at the end of 1991, in 1992 Elena began working as an announcer on the RTR channel (today's Russia-1), as well as as a special correspondent for the Politika studio. In 1994, Starostina became the host of the Delovaya Rossiya TV channel, which at that time was an information block within the same RTR, where she worked until 1997.
After this, Elena continued to host news programs on various channels until 2004. Then, in the popular talk show “The Domino Principle,” a vacancy opened up for co-host Elena Khanga, and Starostina received a call with an offer to come to the casting. The auditions were successful, and a month later the woman found out that she was the one chosen from the applicants. Elena worked in “The Domino Principle” until 2005, after which, after the expiration of the contract, she left the project.

Elena Starostina and Andrei Urgant on the talk show “The Stars Aligned”
On October 29, 2021, fans saw Elena on the screen again, and in a very unusual quality. The woman became a guest on the program “Live Healthy!”, demonstrating a pole dance to the audience.
It turned out that the TV presenter has been doing this type of gymnastics for 3.5 years. What brought her to the pole was the desire to improve her tone, but in a way that wasn’t boring. The woman was not attracted to standard activities, but this sport turned out to be what she needed, although the actress honestly admitted to Elena Malysheva that the result was not achieved immediately.
I was inspired to take the class by a news story that talked about a 70-year-old woman from China who started pole dancing at the age of 60 and hasn’t stopped practicing since then. After going to a trial lesson at a club closest to her home, Elena realized that she had found the best way to keep herself in shape. And she succeeded: with a height of 162 cm, the woman’s weight is 50 kg.
Now pole dancing is the actress’s favorite hobby. Starostina regularly trains and shares her successes with subscribers on the social network Instagram - where Elena regularly posts new photos and videos from training.
“I myself am already a “brand”
— Have you ever thought about an original show, for example, on a YouTube channel?
— The author’s program could have been made at the dawn of new television, in the 2000s. Now everything is in order, all programs are licensed. They are handled by specially trained people on the channels.
I still can’t imagine what I could do on the Internet, on YouTube. Another interview? It seems to me that I myself am already a “brand” in the sense that life does not end after 50. I can show women how to take care of themselves, that there are no limits to human capabilities if you want changes in your body and life. It is at this age that one can realize previously laid down aspirations and fulfill desires that have accumulated over the years. And I am an example of this.
—Have you considered a parliamentary or public career?
— I have a civic position. It is expressed exclusively in trips to polling stations. I do this regularly and give my vote to those I consider worthy. I don’t sit at home and don’t have kitchen conversations.
— You are an example of self-realization after 50 and breaking the stereotype that the most important thing for a woman with a creative profession is to be fulfilled. That is, there must be work and recognition.
— A person’s self-realization is not connected only with a profession; everyone has some hobbies. Another thing is that any hobby, all the “movement” costs money. Take care of yourself, your body - you don’t need to be penniless pensioners for this. We must give them the opportunity to get some new life, to get joy. By the way, all over the world there are pole acrobatics competitions for people 45+, 50+, and so on. To do this, you need to prepare either yourself or with support.
— Have you outlined new frontiers?
“I never give up my desire to take part in the World Pole Championships. There are many women my age in the world who do pole acrobatics, and they do it so well. We text each other and encourage each other. I would like to have some kind of role in a movie. In sports, everything depends on me - how I prepare, how I approach it.

Elena first appeared on screens as an actress while still working as a TV presenter - in 2002, when she starred in the series “Impostors” as a TV presenter. In 2006, Starostina appeared in the popular Russian sitcom “My Fair Nanny” - she played herself.
After this, the actress repeatedly appeared in Russian films and TV series. Mostly she received not the main roles, but episodic or supporting roles, but in the multi-part project “Love and Other Nonsense” Elena played one of the central characters - Suzanna Stepanovna, the administrator of the “Faces” beauty salon. An exciting plot based on the novel of the same name by Fyodor Dostoevsky unfolded before the audience on the screen. Together with the performer, Maxim Matveev, Sergei Makovetsky, Anton Shagin and other popular Russian actors were involved on the set. In 2017, the artist’s filmography was replenished with works in the films “Doctor Richter”, “Angel Bait”, “Unknown”.
The next year was no less fruitful for Starostina - the performer appeared on screen in small roles in the series “Beautiful Creatures”, “Parental Rights”, “Trigger”. And in 2021, fans were able to appreciate Elena’s performance in the “Critical Age” project.
Personal life
Little is known about the actress’s personal life. Elena's husband is Oleg Bachinsky, the couple has a son, Matvey. However, Starostina prefers not to advertise the details, and there is no information about what is happening in the spouses’ relationship now in open sources. In 2014, the TV presenter’s family was at the center of a scandal.
One day, the lady’s husband parked incorrectly, as a result of which a tow truck drove up to the parking spot and the car was taken away. Seeing this, the owner of the car tried to catch up with the car, which he succeeded in doing. Taking a taxi, Oleg caught up with a tow truck at a traffic light and managed to climb inside the cabin of his car.

Elena Starostina on the pylon
The law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene demanded that Bachinsky open the doors and come out, but the TV presenter’s husband was not going to do this. It is unknown how this story would have ended if the man had not suddenly become ill. Ambulance officers who arrived at the call diagnosed Oleg with a heart attack and took him to the hospital. Many media outlets managed to cover the story.
In 2021, there was a loss in the Starostina family - the actress’s twin sister, Natalya, passed away. On Instagram, the performer posted a touching post in which she admitted that she was with her relative until the last minute of her life. Fans of the artist responded to the message, expressing condolences and wishing Elena strength and patience.
TV presenter Elena Starostina: “My husband is in the hospital, he already had a heart attack”
First, about the sad story of the TV presenter’s husband. We found out the details first hand.
- Elena, how did it all happen?
— Oleg is now in the hospital, he says he doesn’t remember what happened. But I understood this: the car parked near our house was loaded onto a tow truck and began to be taken away. He ran out of the house, caught another car and chased a tow truck.
— And then how did events develop?
— Oleg caught up with them near the monument “Worker and Collective Farm Woman” and climbed into his car. The tow truck driver stopped. Oleg was told that he needed to get out of the car, since the car could not be taken to the impound lot with him. They promised to give the car back. Oleg said that he would come out. The car was taken to the impound lot, and Oleg was taken to the police station.
- For interrogation?
- Yes. Because of this whole situation, Oleg’s blood pressure jumped, and he was then taken to the hospital. All this brought him to stress, he felt very bad. This is very dangerous for health, since my husband already had a heart attack. At the hospital, the captain was seated next to him. And I picked up the car from the impound lot this morning.
- Are you going to complain?
- Yes. I want to file an application with the internal security service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (the police behaved rudely) and with the tow truck operators. I asked why our car was taken away, and they told me it was because of improper parking. But she stood near the house, this is a residential area, I note that there are dozens of cars parked there. Yes, and there are no signs. I understand if we really violated the stopping rules, but this is complete injustice. They told me that they would take all the cars, but there are not enough tow trucks. Apparently this is a business for them. People need to unite to fight injustice...
And here is the official response from the State Public Institution "AMPP". On November 11, at 10:38 p.m., a Toyota Rav 4 was towed from 32 Letchika Babushkina Street for violating the Traffic Rules. The decision to evacuate was made by the traffic police inspector. The car was loaded onto a tow truck and began moving towards a specialized parking lot. In the area of Mira Avenue (understudy), the car owner caught up with a tow truck with a car loaded on it, then climbed onto the platform and locked himself in the car. The car owner ignored the demands of the traffic police officers to get out of the car. The arriving traffic police officers offered to issue him only a fine for violating the Traffic Rules and hand over the car on the spot, but the motorist refused to pick up the car and leave the scene of the incident, citing the fact that he wanted to wait for the television to arrive and get on the air. After the journalists arrived, the car owner left the car. The car was taken to a specialized parking lot, and the driver was detained by traffic police officers. GKU "AMPP" reminds you of the rules for returning a car on the spot: you can return the car until the moment the tow truck starts moving.
So, the war between motorists and tow trucks continues. And if we don’t want her to make the first victims, the rules of the game need to be urgently changed. After all, today even one type of tow truck causes nervous tremors among Muscovites. This means that the current rules for punishing illegal parking are ineffective. I would like to believe that the State Public Institution “Parking Space Administrator” will understand this before someone dies in a fight with tow trucks.
Elena Starostina's car is being taken to the impound lot.
MEANWHILE
Motorists' dissatisfaction with the new type of parking that has appeared within the Garden Ring is growing at an alarming rate. Paid parking lots for trucks, where, as it turns out, car drivers are prohibited from entering, have already been dubbed another trap. Leaving anything that weighs less than 1.5 tons in such a parking lot is prohibited: you can run into a fine and lose your nerve while talking with tow truck operators. In addition, a parking space in these parking lots costs absolutely unimaginable money: 1000 rubles, starting from the 31st minute. As explained in the capital's Department of Transport, such parking lots appeared quite officially. They are created for loading and unloading trucks. The appropriate locations are allocated: near shops, cafes and restaurants. And the high cost of parking is a way to encourage movers to work faster. However, this does not make it any easier for ordinary car enthusiasts. After all, only a very meticulous driver can recognize a parking lot that is prohibited for passenger cars. At the entrance to each “cargo” parking lot there is a familiar gray-green “Moscow parking” sign. There is only one way to protect yourself: pay attention to the ciphers and codes indicated on the sign. Special parking lots for trucks are marked with the numbers “50xx”. In addition, you will have to look for a road sign on the road poles: a small black and white sign with the outline of a truck, inside of which is written “1.5 tons”. If you hesitate, you can get a fine of 2,500 rubles.

Elena Starostina now
In 2021, the TV presenter continued working in films. The 3rd season of the popular TV series “The Fab Five” was released. Elena appeared in the series “Let's Dance” in the role of Logacheva. In winter, the public saw a new episode of the “The Stars Aligned” program, in which, after almost 2 decades, former colleagues from the show “Domino Principle” met. Elena Hanga and Dana Borisova came to the studio with Starostina.
This time, TV presenters gathered to discuss the problem of the relationship between singer Lyubov Uspenskaya and the singer’s daughter Tatyana Plaksina. And in the fall, fans again watched Elena’s participation in Lera Kudryavtseva’s program. The topic of the issue was the scandal associated with the appropriation of the real estate of actor Alexei Batalov by scammers - actress Natalya Drozhzhina and her husband Mikhail Tsivin.
It was them who Batalov’s widow, Gitana Leontenko, named as guilty of what happened. Taking advantage of her weakness and poor eyesight, “family friends” were able to transfer the artist’s inheritance into their own hands. Studio guests, including Lyudmila Porgina, Natalya Gvozdikova, Valery Barinov, spoke on the side of the victim. Starostina admitted on air that she had known Tsivin and Drozhzhina for a long time, so she urged not to label them ahead of time, thereby acting as their defender.
