Childhood and youth
Alexandrova was born in 1975. According to one information, Elena’s hometown is Moscow, according to another, St. Petersburg. Together with Lena, the parents raised the girl’s sister, who subsequently immigrated to the United States of America, where she lives today in the city of San Francisco.
As a child, Elena loved to read both fiction and non-fiction books, and also devoted time to drawing, crafts and dancing.
After graduating from school, Elena decided to get a higher education and entered a prestigious university in the country - Mikhail Lomonosov Moscow State University, where she received a specialty in Sociology of Mass Communications. In her youth, Alexandrova managed to work in large companies, where she was responsible for public relations.
Hunger for knowledge
Even in her childhood, the future member of the elite club showed herself to be an active and smart girl. Studying at a regular school was not enough for her - her inquisitive nature demanded more. One of Elena's main hobbies was reading. She loved books with all her soul, fortunately there were plenty of them in the house. I read a lot, voraciously. Moreover, she was interested not only in works of art, but also in scientific literature.
In addition to such self-education, every week little Lena attended classes in various sections and circles. The girl was especially interested in:
- drawing;
- handicrafts;
- dancing.
Regardless of what she did, Elena always strived to be the best.
"What? Where? When?"
Alexandrova’s vivid television biography began with joining the club of experts. In the television intellectual game “What? Where? When?" She made her debut in Maxim Potashev's team in 2003, at the age of 28. The next year, Elena joined the all-female team under the command of Valentina Golubeva, but this project turned out to be short-lived, so she returned under the leadership of Potashev.
But Alexandrova had her most striking performances in the team of one of the best captains of the elite club, Andrei Kozlov. Together with Elena, famous TV quiz show masters Mikhail Moon, Alexey Kapustin, Elena Orlova, Igor Kondratyuk and others sat at the same table. In the new season of the 2021 spring games, the participant again joined the team of her favorite captain, and all connoisseurs of intellectual entertainment were able to enjoy the play of this strong and united team.
In addition to participating in intellectual club competitions, Alexandrova was also a popularizer of this game. Elena organized official quizzes among students, schoolchildren and even subscribers of the printed publication “Science and Life”.
These amateur games, designed to raise interest among citizens in smart entertainment and revive the culture of acquiring knowledge, were held under the general title “Working on Mistakes.”

Elena Alexandrova in the game “What?
Where? When?" The first game of the 2016 fall season, which could be watched on Channel One, was played by Kozlov’s team, in which Alexandrova also played.
The game turned out to be difficult. At first, the team lost to TV viewers. The situation could have been corrected by a super blitz, but Moon failed to cope with the 2nd question. But based on the results of all rounds, Kozlov’s team, with difficulty, won with a score of 6:5. Alexandrova was recognized as the best player.
The winter series of games started in November 2021. Here Elena acted as captain. Moreover, Alexandrova’s team was assembled from the owners of the “Crystal Owl”.
This game was not without scandal. The players were at a loss with the viewer's question about the ladies standing by the road, whom the writer Henry Petroski saw (correct answer: books). At this time, the expert Rovshan Askerov, standing in the hall, was indignant that the club master Kozlov suggested to the team. According to Askerov, he loudly pronounced the word “books,” but the manager of the hall did not notice the hint and did not show the red card to the team captain.
Alexandrova’s team gave the answer “bookshelf”, and the answer was counted. Askerov, who was repeatedly caught giving tips and using them, was dissatisfied with the injustice and prejudiced attitude.

Elena Alexandrova and her children
In September 2021, in the autumn series of games, Elena joined the team of the master of the intellectual club and the holder of the title “Best Club Captain” Kozlov. She was joined by Crystal Owl winners Mikhail Moon, Vladimir Antokhin, Alexey Kapustin and Elena Orlova.
In the winter series, Elena again acted as captain. On November 20, 2017, another curious incident occurred. Alexandrova lost to her own namesake. Translator from Omsk Polina Aleksandrova asked a question about fordite stone, which has become rare in the last 10 years.
The team captain volunteered to answer, but gave the wrong answer. Players correctly associated the stone with Henry Ford and car paint, but concluded that it was the composition of the coating, and not that technology had improved and paintwork was no longer sprayed onto cars manually from a spray bottle. After all, Fordites were polished from pieces of paint and varnish materials baked in an oven that had settled on stands for machine parts.
After this loss, the team answered the next 4 questions correctly and won the game.
In 2021, Elena appeared only in the spring series of games “What? Where? When?". Also in July of this year, Alexandrova and Mikhail Vishnevsky visited Andrei Makarevich in the “Smak” program and shared their recipes for cooking mushrooms with the audience.
Relatives
Future participant “What? Where? When?" Elena Alexandrova (photos are given in the article) was born in 1975. Some sources claim that she was born in the cultural Russian capital - St. Petersburg. But this information is erroneous - Elena is a native Muscovite.
The girl's parents worked in technical fields. The main priority of the couple was the well-being of their daughters, Elena and her sister. The parents provided the girls with a luxurious childhood, which not everyone can boast of. They always had expensive toys, beautiful clothes, good and tasty food.
It is worth noting that not so long ago the sister of the expert “What? Where? When?" Elena Alexandrova left her homeland and moved to permanent residence in the United States of America. She is currently based in San Francisco.
Sister Alexandrova is not disapproving of immigration. But, according to Elena’s own statements, unlike her relative, she herself would never leave her native country.
Personal life
Back in the early 2000s, Elena married her fellow expert, and later multiple winner of the Crystal Owl prize, Maxim Potashev. In 2005, their twins Andrei and Roman were born. The couple were, as they say, waters inseparable; they were considered not only a strong married couple, but also played for the same Kozlov team for many years. Moreover, as Potashev said in his interviews, they knew everything about each other - from preferences and habits to tastes and interests, they even managed to predict the desires of their partner before he or she voiced them.
However, even such friendly intra-family relations did not save the family from collapse. The couple divorced, and before the divorce there was an extremely ugly and unpleasant story. Potashev met another woman, also an expert and the namesake of his first wife - Elena Chukhraeva.

Elena Alexandrova and her husband Mikhail Vishnevsky
The most unpleasant thing is that Elena was not only left alone with two children in her arms, she was at that moment pregnant with her third child. Alexandrova categorically broke off all relations with her ex-husband, and when her daughter Vasilina was born, Potashev was not even included in her documents as a father.
The member of the club of experts does not have a page on Instagram, but her photo can be found in the media.
Recordings of the club’s games are collected on the YouTube channel “What? Where? When?". There you can also watch a video about how Alexandrova spends her time in self-isolation.
In February 2021, Alexandrova became the wife of Mikhail Vishnevsky.
A fairy tale with a bad ending
When Alexandrova was already in the late stages of her second pregnancy, Potashev became interested in a participant in the sports version of “What? Where? When?" Elena Chukhraeva. The feeling that gripped the exemplary family man turned out to be so strong that Maxim left the family, despite the position of his wife.
After his divorce from Elena, he hastily married his new lover, who soon gave birth to his daughter Anna. Alexandrova also had a girl named Vasilina. She broke off all relations with her once loving husband and refused to indicate his paternity in her daughter’s birth documents.
Now a participant in “What? Where? When?" Elena Alexandrova is raising her children alone. They now make up her family. Elena has not yet gotten married for the second time.
Specialty and career
By the time she completed her schooling, Alexandrova already knew exactly where she wanted to continue her education. And the goal was achieved. The young intellectual became a student at one of the most prestigious universities in the country - Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Despite the big competition (about 30 candidates for 1st place), the future star of the “What? Where? When?" Elena Alexandrova entered the university on her first try. She studied with a degree in Sociology of Mass Communications.
After 5 years, Elena received her diploma. Immediately after graduating from university, the graduate began working. She managed to get a job in a fairly large private company. The young specialist’s area of work was public relations. The wages were very attractive. But still, at some point in her life, Alexandrova decided to resign from her post.
At the moment, as for many years now, Elena is, in a certain sense, a freelancer and works remotely. Her area of activity is journalism, media information. In addition, Alexandrova is developing her own projects. She sells the result of her work on specialized websites, after which she receives a well-deserved fee.
Perfect marriage
From the entire biography of the expert “What? Where? When?" Elena Alexandrova, her fans are most interested in the personal life of an intellectual. She first entered into an official marriage in the early 2000s. Elena’s husband was her colleague in the game Maxim Potashev, now the master of the club and a four-time winner of the “Crystal Owl”.
The wedding of experts took place surrounded by relatives and friends on both sides. The union of two scholars seemed indestructible. And for a long time he was.
In 2005, members of the “What? Where? When?" Elena Alexandrova and Maxim Potashev became parents for the first time. The couple had twin boys, Roman and Andrey. The birth of children together brought the couple even closer.
They were together always and everywhere. At the club, Elena and Maxim played for the same team under the leadership of Andrei Kozlov. At home they solved all household issues together. In their interviews, they openly said that they knew everything about each other and even guessed each other’s thoughts and desires. Elena praised her husband for his understanding and help. But the ideal marriage collapsed literally overnight.
Biography
About the biography of Anastasia Shutova, participant in “What? Where? When?”, little is known. She was born on October 23, 1986 in the city of Kolomna. Here, she graduated from gymnasium No. 8 with a gold medal, and after that she entered the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
Anastasia developed an interest in the game during her school years. As a ninth grade student, she participated in the city tournament of the game of the same name, where, together with the team, she took third place. His passion for the game continued after entering the university. There, she, together with a former classmate, assembled a new team, and in her second year, Anastasia became a member of the university team.
Being a fan of intellectual games, Anastasia sets out to get into the elite club of experts. For this, she agrees to undergo a long and strict selection process, in which she will have to beat about a hundred rivals.
Purposefulness, well-readness and high erudition are bearing fruit and since 2011, Anastasia Shutova has become a full-fledged player in the intellectual casino and a member of Andrei Supranovich’s team.
Anastasia Shutova on the show “What? Where? When?"
According to Shutova herself, she does not specifically prepare for the games, but often watches news reports or scientific documentaries on television. Not every meeting of her team with television viewers goes well, but Anastasia does not despair, gradually revealing her own potential.
Participation in the team of an intellectual club is perceived by her as an opportunity to show her abilities, train her mind, gain new knowledge, accumulate incomparable experience and, naturally, get to know gifted people better.
Maxim Potashev now
In 2021, Maxim Oskarovich became a player in Alena Povysheva’s team. In addition, the intellectual continued to participate in charity. In April, he held an online game, the Genium Challenge Genium Quiz, in support of the Stroke Foundation.
A year after the scandal in the program “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Alexander Druz again got the opportunity to participate in the games of the “What? Where? When?". Maxim Potashev did not agree with this. He refused to sit at the same table with a colleague. The team of elders included captain Viktor Sidnev, Boris Levin, Inna Semenova, Leonid Timofeev, Leonid Dyuba.
In the summer, the master initiated a mass protest against the actions of the club’s management related to accusations against the expert Mikhail Skipsky. The scandal erupted on the eve of the festive episode in honor of the 45th anniversary of the program. Young journalist Ekaterina Arenina made accusations of sexual harassment by the two-time Crystal Owl winner. In addition, the correspondent stated that this incident occurred during her school years. The confession generated a wave of statements from other former students of Skipsky.
Producer Andrei Kozlov denied all accusations, which outraged Potashev. His colleagues Ivan Malyshev, Kim Galachyan, Stas Mereminsky and others spoke in support of Maxim Oskarovich.
In the fall of 2020, young participant Leonid Karlinsky, the son of Vadim Karlinsky, a multiple winner of “My Game,” aroused interest among viewers of the intellectual club. According to fans of the game show, the young man is Maxim Oskarovich’s nephew.
Today, a business coach speaks to the public with a new program on team management techniques. In 2021, he planned to give lectures in Russian cities and conduct a number of online seminars.
Business and creativity
The expert’s official website says that the game is neither the meaning of life nor a way of earning a living for him. Throughout his life, Potashev managed to change several types of activities: he headed the operational marketing center of Rosgosstrakh, analytical center, worked as development director of the Azbuka-Attik publishing house and the Result Internet agency.
In an interview, Potashev noted: his popularity as an expert in the intellectual club does not interfere with his work. However, often at various meetings and conferences, clients and colleagues are surprised that Maxim Oskarovich not only plays in ChGK, but also has a permanent job.
Potashev’s new book with the self-explanatory title “Why do you lose at ChGK?” was also dedicated to victories, or rather the lack thereof for some newcomers.
In 2015, another book by Maxim Potashev was published. This time the expert did not write about an intellectual game. The publication “The Age of the Client” is dedicated to his management activities and talks about how to competently build a system of relationships between the company and the client.
In the same year, another book by Potashev, “The Path of Solution,” was published, where the expert shares with readers ways of thinking that help both win intellectual games and cope with business problems. The intellectual's co-author in writing the literary work was Pavel Ershov.
This Sunday the national team of Alena Povysheva and Ales Mukhin will play!
