“Disco Accident” is a Russian musical group from Ivanovo, based on the decline of the USSR. Their main direction is dance music with easy to remember lyrics and layering of musical styles. The artists received special recognition in the early 2000s.

The active work of “Disco Accident” began in 1990, although in fact the performers began delighting the public with their DJ sets, if you could call it that, back in 1988. Initially, Alexey Ryzhov and Nikolai Timofeev studied together at the Ivanovo Energy University and played in KVN .

Once upon a time, creative guys were tasked with holding a disco at the Electron student club. During the performance in a room that had seen better years, the lights went out, but either Timofeev or Ryzhov hastened to reassure the people: “Everything is fine, because we are “Disco Accident”. It is unknown whether Russian dance music would have been replenished with hits from “Disco Accident” if the founders of the group were more wealthy. At the end of the 80s, perestroika gave a second wind to rock bands, the songs “Kino” and “DDT” were no longer played in apartment buildings, but in clubs and festivals, and students of the Ivanovo Energy Institute Nikolai Timofeev and Alexey Ryzhov were not at all averse to following in the footsteps "Nautilus" or "Alice".

However, the beginning musicians, whom they know from the university KVN, do not have enough money for instruments and equipment, and the creative tandem decides to start by holding discos. Since 1988, the duo has been holding parties both within the walls of the institute and at the Ivanovo club “Avaria”. The story of how the group got its name has long become a legend. According to her, at the time of the concert the wiring shorted and the lights went out. Panic almost set in, but Timofeev managed to defuse the situation with a joke:
“Calm down, everything is fine! After all, we are “Disco “Accident”!”
In the early nineties, Timofeev and Ryzhov were invited to review new songs, first on the Ivanovo regional radio Ivanovo, and then on the regional radio station of the Europe Plus network. DJs win the sympathy of the public not only by broadcasting, but also with covers of foreign hits, as well as parody compositions.

In 2012, the artist begins a solo career. There are trials going on between him and Ryzhov on the issue of rights to joint creativity. In the end, the court sides with the songwriter: Timofeev is prohibited from singing compositions written by Ryzhov at his concerts.

Three months after Nikolai left, Ryzhov, on the recommendation of rapper Seryoga, accepted Anna Khokhlova into the team. A native of Chelyabinsk participated in the third season of the Ukrainian project X-Factor, but was unable to reach the finals. But the artist gained a foothold in the “Disco Accident”. Ryzhov, Serov, Khokhlova - the composition has remained unchanged since 2012.

The tandem turned into a trio in 1992, when they were joined by an actor from the puppet theater Oleg Zhukov, to whom the nickname “Fat Man” quickly became attached. Performances began to be regular, and more than one album's worth of song material had accumulated.

When selecting albums, the compilers of the albums were guided solely by the demand for a particular composition, and therefore the songs of “Time Machine”, Boris Moiseev or “Agatha Christie” coexisted perfectly with “Disco Crash”.

“Disco Accident” presented the first album “Dance with me” in 1997. After this, Alexey Serov joined the team. There were several memorable songs on the cassette (“Malinka”, “Drink Beer”, etc.), but it cannot be said that the recording made a splash.

The first absolute hit from the “Avarians” was the song “New Year’s” (1999) with a bright animated video. It still remains in great demand on the eve of the holidays. Also, the all-Russian popularity of the group was influenced by remixes of “You Ditched” and “I Won’t Soon” by Lyapis Trubetskoy. Throughout their career, the group received these awards more than once. Perhaps the most charismatic member of the group was not only a good DJ, but also a masterful rapper. Alas, simultaneously with the advent of national fame, in August 2001, Oleg was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Everyone’s favorite “Fat Man” hid his illness from the press and public for a long time, underwent an operation, after which there was an improvement, but in November 2001 he was no longer able to perform with his comrades. When asked where Oleg had disappeared, the musicians laughed it off. So the death of 29-year-old Zhukov on February 9, 2002 came as a surprise to fans of the group. The last video of “Disco Accident” with the participation of Oleg Zhukov was the video for the song “At the Edge of the Attack”. “Discosuperstar” was released posthumously. Timofeev, Ryzhov and Serov decided not to look for a replacement for their deceased friend. Oleg's comrades took a creative break and disappeared from the radar. In 2006, “Disco Crash” returned with a new album, “Four Guys” (the title indicated that Oleg continued to be the fourth member of the group), but a ceremonial comeback did not work out. Although the composition “Malinka”, a collaboration with Zhanna Friske, was actively played on all radio stations, and a provocative video was shot for “Severe Rap”, fans did not accept the new work, and some even accused the team of “opsification”. “We have descended into banality and plagiarism!” the listeners were indignant.

But few people know that the starting point of the success of this team is back in the distant eighties. It was at this time in the city of Ivanovo that Alexey Ryzhov met Nikolai Timofeev. An excellent sense of humor immediately brought them together, and the creative tandem provided food for student KVNs. Talent and wit led Ryzhov and Timofeev to a new role. They were invited as lively presenters at discos. At the same time, the soloists of the group “Discotheque Accident” tried their hand at rock music. But there was no money for tools or expensive equipment. However, the “profession” of presenters at discos soon began to bear first fruit, and the guys literally got involved.
In Ivanovo they were able to open their own club called “Avaria”. Moreover, the day before the opening, a heating main in the city burst and a stone fence collapsed. Therefore, the name itself turned out to be “speaking”. In 1990, Timofeev and Ryzhov were invited to local radio as DJs, presenting reviews of new musical releases. Until 1993, funny guys hosted the program “Disco Crash” with sparkling humor and special “twists” or, as they say now, “tricks”. The “inventors” did something unimaginable with musical compositions. At that time, the word “remix” was not yet known, but the technique and the first attempts already existed. For example, one of Pugacheva’s songs was “filled” with new samples and became similar to house. As a result of such experiments, “Disco Crash” could not go unnoticed.
In 1992, the team found a colorful bass - Oleg Zhukov, a disco host and puppet theater actor. And the date of creation of the group “Disco Accident” can be called 1996, when Alexey Serov joined the group and a full-fledged quartet was formed. The parodies created by Ryzhov and Timofeev gradually “evolved” into full-fledged songs that the guys performed at discos. And when they realized that people really liked all this, they decided to become a group.
Gradually, the songs of the group “Disco Accident” were already known in Ivanovo. The local group was gaining popularity and was even able to release their first album called “Dance with Me.” The guys performed at city festivals, at small venues. But it was necessary to move forward, that is, to conquer Moscow. Alexey Ryzhov took the cassette with the song “Dance with me” to the Soyuz studio, where it collected dust for about a year. By chance, the repertoire director listened to the demo and immediately realized that the group would take off. Soon “Disco Crash” was among other popular performers on the Soyuz collections.
The “Avarians” began to “warm up” the listeners with remixes of then-popular bands, but soon their own songs “Come on, “Accident”!”, “Nowhere to Go,” and “New Year’s” rose to the top of the charts. “Disco Crash” became the “persona grata” at all parties. Cooperation with ARS-Records ensured the timely release of the group's albums and singles.
The fiery music of the group “Disco Accident” allowed its members to become winners of prestigious music awards from MTV and MUZ-TV more than once. In 2002, a tragedy occurred: on February 9, the most beloved colorful “ringleader” of the group, Oleg Zhukov, died. And the guys dedicated their victory at the next MTV ceremony to his memory.
After Oleg's death, the concerts of the group "Disco Accident" are temporarily stopped. But soon one of the most successful singles, “X.H.H.” and R.N.R.” and "Sky". The group returns to its fans. The triumphant march of the group continues with the release of new albums, among which there is one dedicated to Oleg Zhukov - “Four Guys” (2006). The status of winners is secured at the Golden Gramophone ceremonies, MTV and MUZ-TV channels. Scandals
“Disco Crash” had a very difficult time breaking off relations with team member Nikolai Timofeev.
Many unpleasant words were said towards each other on both sides of the conflict. At the end of 2013, Ryzhov even sued his ex-colleague for copyright infringement. In response, a similar lawsuit followed from Timofeev. The litigation dragged on for several years. Everyone was unhappy with the decision: Nikolai was forbidden to perform the songs he claimed, but Alexey did not receive the compensation that he initially insisted on. In August 2021, Alexey Ryzhov was unable to go on vacation to Italy with his family. The artist was turned away at the airport: he was not allowed to leave the country due to debts and non-payment of taxes.

The most active and energetic member of the group has a stormy personal life. Alexey was married three times, and from each marriage he has a child. Serov has two sons - Mark and Richard - and a daughter, Polina.
A loud scandal accompanied the artist’s third divorce. For a long time, with his ex-wife Irina Kachko from Estonia, they could not decide with whom their common daughter Polina would remain. Alexey demanded sole custody of the girl through the court. The judge initially ruled in favor of the father, but during long proceedings he decided that Polina would live with her mother. The progress of the case was widely discussed in the press and on television. The musician filed a lawsuit against TV presenter Andrei Malakhov for libel and interference in his personal life.
