Biography of Chulpan Khamatova
The biography of Chulpan Khamatova begins in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. Here, on the first day of October, in 1975, the future actress was born. Father - Nail Khamatov and mother - Marina Khamatova worked as engineers all their lives. Chulpan and her younger brother Shamil are Tatars by nationality, but they do not know their native language, since their parents spoke only Russian at home.
As a child, the girl was a shy and very sick child. She was sent to figure skating to strengthen her immunity. This helped to improve my health and in the future to win first place in the Ice Age show.
Chulpan found exact sciences easy; her parents hoped that she would follow in their footsteps. No one even thought about becoming an actress until the teacher recognized the hidden talent in her student. While playing in school plays, Khamatova overcame her innate shyness and realized that she wanted to become an actress.
After graduating from school, the girl easily entered the Kazan State Institute of Finance and Economics. At the very beginning of the school year, she took her documents and began studying at the theater school in her hometown. In her first year, Chulpan transferred to GITIS in Moscow.
Childhood
Chulpan Khamatova (full name - Chulpan Nail kyzy Khamatova) was born into a family of engineers Nail Akhmetovich Khamatova and Marina Galimullovna Khamatova. Chulpan is a national Tatar name. Morning star, Venus. But, oddly enough, Chulpan never learned the Tatar language - everyone in her family spoke Russian.
Little Chulpan Khamatova
As a child, the actress, like many girls, loved to sing and dance in front of the mirror. When Chulpan watched films and performances, she took the characters’ experiences too close to her heart. After watching a sad drama, she could walk around all day under the weight of impressions, remain silent or even cry.
Intelligent parents provided their daughter with all-round development. Before bed, her mother read books to her, of which there were a lot in their apartment on Sverdlov Street. It was thanks to books that Chulpan learned to fantasize and developed her imagination. The girl was a frequent visitor to museums, theaters, and conservatories. Kazan had a good Youth Theatre, opera and drama theatres. However, Chulpan didn’t even think about becoming an actress - she was embarrassed to read poetry in front of the class, what to say about the stage!
At the age of 10, the baby had a younger brother, Shamil Khamatov. Twenty years later, he graduated from RAMT, became a member of the Sovremennik Theater troupe and debuted in his first film.
Shamil Khamatov, brother of Chulpan Khamatova, also an actor
As a child, Chulpan was constantly sick. Almost every year she was hospitalized with pneumonia. To strengthen her immune system, the father sent his daughter to the figure skating section. The girl improved her health, but she eventually got tired of figure skating. The Olympic reserve school, where her father took her, demanded victories from its students. Chulpan didn’t want to compete – on principle. Chulpan Khamatova in the program of Vladimir Pozner The first acting talent of young Chulpan was noted by her literature teacher. It was in the fifth grade: the students were putting on a play based on Pushkin’s “The Dead Princess.” Khamatova got the role of the stepmother-princess, and she amazed all the spectators with the depth of her image. And the future actress played her first role in the eighth grade. In a theater group at a school camp, a short-haired girl performed the role of the Little Prince in the play of the same name.
In high school, Chulpan attended the physics and mathematics school at Kazan University. During these years, the girls especially loved opposite subjects - mathematics and literature. At the same time, she began to listen to the songs of The Beatles and communicate with Tolkien students, going on hikes with them - friendship with peers was not interesting for a smart girl beyond her years. The teachers were annoyed by her “unfeminine” hobbies and her always torn jeans. But they could not do anything, because Chulpan was an excellent student; exact sciences were easy for her, and the girl was even destined for a career as a great economist.

Without entrance exams, she was enrolled in the Kazan Financial and Economic Institute. But she didn’t study there for a day - having collected her documents from the admissions office, she came to the admissions office of the Kazan Theater School. The girl with sparkling eyes somehow caught the attention of the teachers, who made an exception to the rules and gave her an extraordinary exam. After a short audition, Chulpan was accepted. Her mentor was Juno Kareva, a talented teacher and first wife of Stanislav Govorukhin.
Apparently, the school teachers recognized the real gem hidden in the body of a teenage girl, and literally in the second semester they advised Chulpan to enroll in one of the capital’s theater universities. After the first year, she went to Moscow with her mother, who secretly hoped from her daughter that the application would turn out to be a failure and Chulpan would remain in his native Kazan.
Young Chulpan Khamatova
The girl's choice fell on GITIS. All because Alexey Borodin taught there. The fame of his skill went far beyond Moscow. In addition, he was the director of the play “Our Town,” which Chulpan really liked. She attracted Borodin's attention during the second round, after which she became a happy student in his workshop.

In 2021, filming began on the dramatic film “Doctor Lisa” about the fate of Elizaveta Glinka, in which Chulpan Khamatova played the main role. The film was directed by Oksana Karas. Later, the artist auditioned for Kirill Serebrennikov’s project “Petrovs in the Flu.”
Another significant work of this period is the series “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” about the life of a Tatar peasant woman who was sent to hard labor in Siberia in the 30s. The author of the novel of the same name, Guzel Yakhina, when writing the book, was guided by the performance of her famous compatriot.
Personal life of Chulpan Khamatova
The theater and film star does not like close attention to her person, so Chulpan Khamatova’s personal life is, if possible, hidden from prying eyes. Nevertheless, some details still leak into printed publications.
It is known that she was married twice: the first marriage was official, and the second was civil. It is impossible to say one hundred percent that she was unlucky in her marriages, because she has two wonderful children from these men.
Now she is officially married to director Alexander Shein. Together they are raising their joint daughter Iya and two children Chulpan from previous marriages.
Family of Chulpan Khamatova
The Chulpan Khamatova family is an example for many people to follow. The actress manages to find time for everything: work, charity and, of course, her closest and dearest people.
She does not like to attend social events, preferring to spend this time on something more important than just once again showing off her new dress or listening to uninteresting gossip about someone’s life.
The woman still maintains a warm relationship with her younger brother Shamil Khamatov. He followed in his sister's footsteps and became an actor.
Voice acting
Chulpan Khamatova voiced Carolina in the film “Russian Revolt: Masha Mironova”, and Marusya in the cartoon “About Fedot the Archer, a Daring Young Man.” In addition, there are books with her voiceover: “The Little Prince: Flowers” and “Crime and Punishment.”
Although Chulpan Khamatova (biography, children, whose career is still interesting to fans) calls herself a coward, in fact she is a brave woman and is ready to stand up for herself. The actress's only fear is old age. As Khamatova says: “I can’t imagine myself as an old woman, so I hope that I won’t live to see 70.”
Children of Chulpan Khamatova
The children of Chulpan Khamatova are three wonderful daughters: Arina, Asya and the youngest Iya. Despite the fact that they were all born in different marriages, they get along well with each other. Much credit goes to their mother for this. She tries to raise her daughters without protecting them from the outside world. Instills in them a sense of compassion for others through his personal example.
Children love and respect their mother and appreciate every minute spent with their family. They read books, visit museums and theaters. Chulpan often takes his youngest daughter with him to rehearsals. It is noteworthy that, at the request of the mother, all three daughters are not at all interested in the computer, do not spend days on the Internet, preferring to communicate with peers and friends live.
Daughter of Chulpan Khamatova - Arina
Chulpan Khamatova’s daughter, Arina, was born in 2002. The girl was the first child in the family of Chulpan and Ivan. But soon the couple separated and the actress’s mother began to raise her daughter mainly while she went on tour and filming.
Now Arina is already a teenager and is seriously interested in tennis. Ivan, her father, tries to take an active part in his daughter’s life. This is also facilitated by the friendly relations between him and Chulpan, which they managed to maintain, despite everything. The girl is the eldest in the family and we are happy to help her mother run the house.
Parents
Chulpan Khamatova’s parents had absolutely nothing to do with the environment, so they didn’t even think about their daughter’s acting career. It is all the more surprising and valuable that the girl became such a wonderful actress.
With mom Marina
Chulpan’s mother and father, Marina and Nail, worked as simple engineers, so little Chulpan did not see an example of a creative profession in the family. However, this did not stop her from finding her way. From a very young age, the girl loved to dance and sing. However, the parents were sure that the girl would follow in the family footsteps and study to become an engineer.
Daughter of Chulpan Khamatova - Asya
Chulpan Khamatova’s daughter, Asya, is only a year younger than her sister. Because of this, the yellow press has long claimed that the father of the child is Khamatova’s first husband, Ivan Volkov. The actress hid the name of her daughter’s real father until the very end. It turned out to be Alexey Dubinin, who at that time was officially married.
The second daughter attends a music school and loves to sing and dance, just like her mother at that age. Whether Asya communicates with her father - there is no exact information. However, even if not, she fully has enough attention and participation from her stepfather, Chulpan’s third husband.
Theater
Chulpan Khamatova prefers theater over cinema, explaining this by the fact that there is no wall between the audience and the stage. The list of theaters whose stages were conquered by Chulpan Khamatova is long: Youth (RAMT), “Independent Enterprise”, Anton Chekhov Theater, “Theater of the Moon”, Central Children's Theater.

In 2021, Galina Volchek spoke about her quarrel with Chulpan Khamatova. Due to great nervous exhaustion, the actress asked the artistic director of Sovremennik to leave for six months. At that time, the play “Two on a Swing” was successfully performed with the participation of the performer, where Kirill Safonov acted as her partner.
The director agreed to wait for the artist, but soon learned that Khamatova was rehearsing in other theaters. Volchek regarded Chulpan’s behavior as a betrayal. The role in the production was given to Kristina Orbakaite.
Recent theatrical projects with the participation of the actress include the production of “Morning and Evening” based on the work of Yuri Levitansky, the one-man show “Music Lessons”, which is staged at the Moscow Music Theater and the Baltic House, as well as the upcoming premiere of “Gorbachev”, where Chulpan plays together with Yevgeny Mironov.

The actress goes on stage bald, wearing a special wig that simulates a complete absence of hair.
Daughter of Chulpan Khamatova - Iya
Chulpan Khamatova’s daughter, Iya, is the actress’s third child. A girl was born in 2010. Many fans had no idea that the actress was pregnant until they wrote on the theater’s posters that significant changes had been made to the performances with Khamatova’s participation. Chulpan gave birth in a regular Moscow clinic. So that journalists would not bother her, she registered under someone else’s name.
Literally a week before such a joyful event, Chulpan Khamatova and Alexander Shein formalized their relationship. Everything went more than modestly. The newlyweds decided to celebrate this event a little later, when the baby was a little older.
Latest works in cinema
At the beginning of the new century, Chulpan Khamatova agreed to star in two German films. As for Russian cinema, the actress has not pleased her compatriots for several years. However, recently she has begun to appear on screens again.
In 2005, the film “Greek Holidays” was shown at the Moscow Film Festival, where Chulpan played the diver Melina. Khamatova once admitted that she had to seriously work on this image in order to make it as interesting as possible.
Chulpan Khamatova's ex-husband - Ivan Volkov
Chulpan Khamatova’s ex-husband, Ivan Volkov, is the son of the famous Volkov artists: Olga and Nikolai. His parents did not officially register the marriage. Almost immediately after the birth of her son, Olga left her husband. Vanya’s childhood passed behind the scenes, so the boy didn’t think twice about choosing a profession and became a successful theater and film actor.
Volkov met Chulpan Khamatova at the institute, in his second year. They understood that parents on both sides would not approve of their decision to get married. They signed secretly from everyone, and then simply presented everyone with a fait accompli. Seven years after the wedding, their first child was born - a girl, Arina. Unfortunately, their union fell apart almost immediately.
Relationship with brother
Chulpan has a younger brother, whose name is Shamil Khamatov. The young man is currently performing on the stage of the Sovremennik Theater. However, since childhood he did not show any particular inclination towards creativity - he loved to play football and went in for sports. And the parents saw a future energy engineer in their son.
Shamil wanted to become an artist after a trip with his sister to Moscow, where Chulpan played the main role in the production of “Three Comrades.” The young man was so impressed by his sister’s talent and the atmosphere reigning in the theater that he decided, at all costs, to also conquer the theater stage.
With brother Shamil
Journalists from time to time asked Shamil whether he was afraid that he would always be in the shadow of his famous sister.
The man admitted that such thoughts visited him, but he got rid of them a long time ago. People tend to compare athletes, musicians, actors, and even siblings. Shamil understands that this is a normal phenomenon, and this does not prevent him from being on good terms with his sister and improving his acting skills, that is, doing what he sincerely likes.
Former common-law husband of Chulpan Khamatova - Alexey Dubinin
Chulpan Khamatova’s former common-law husband, Alexey Dubinin, is a native of a provincial town in the Vladimir region. After graduating from choreographic school, he came to Moscow and became a fairly famous ballet dancer. Alexey married Larisa Mergulanova. After some time, their daughter Lisa was born. The three of them move to Germany for permanent residence, having signed a contract with one of the theaters. This is where the first meeting of Alexey and Chulpan takes place.
At the time they met, Dubinin left ballet and was successfully engaged in business. Khamatova fell head over heels in love with an extravagant man and persuaded the latter to return to his homeland. He reciprocated and, despite the fact that he was still married, returned to Russia.
In 2003, Alexey and Chulpan had a girl, Asya. Friends and colleagues said that their couple complemented each other, like two halves, that their relationship was ideal. Therefore, when, after five years of civil marriage, their union broke up, it came as a big surprise to everyone.
Chulpan Khamatova's husband - Alexander Shein
Chulpan Khamatova’s husband is Alexander Shein, an actor and director by profession. Fate brought them together when Alexander and the actress worked together on the film “Mayakovsky”.
In 2010, the couple had a daughter, who was named with the unusual name Iya. The director does not separate his daughters, believing that the children of his beloved woman are from previous marriages, including his children. He was able to establish excellent relationships with the eldest daughters of Chulpan Khamatova.
Currently, the actress is truly happy, because she is the mother of three wonderful daughters and her beloved wife.

Those who have known Chulpan since childhood know that she grew up as a very shy child and did not like close attention. From this we can conclude: a naked actress will not appear in public unless something happens that can force her to undress on camera. But you can look for Khamatova in a swimsuit, because she loves to relax on the shore near the sea.
