Just in the year of graduation, Nikita Mikhalkov decided to give the young actor a place in the cast of the film “The Barber of Siberia.” It is the role of cadet Polievsky that Basharov considers his first outstanding work. After hard work on the set of “The Barber of Siberia,” Marat developed a fairly close and warm relationship with Mikhalkov. The actor spoke especially warmly about his latest work. According to him, working with such a legendary director is happiness for any actor. But Basharov literally fell in love with Krapivin’s character and clung to Lungin with requests to give this role to him. The director gave up and tried out Basharov.
“I stubbornly resisted and insisted on trying out. He grabbed onto Lungin with what is called a death grip. And there were a lot of tests. In the end, it was me and another actor left. Then Pavel asked Maria Mironova, who had already been cast as the main character, with whom she would like to play, that is, who exactly is more drawn to Mishka. The girl thought and chose me. It turns out that I pulled out this role with my own teeth,” said the actor. By the way, at the Cannes Film Festival the film “The Wedding” earned a special prize “For the acting ensemble.”

He especially doesn’t like TV series: “A man shouldn’t star in crap. If you don’t have money, then it’s better to go unload the cars than to rent in consumer goods. That’s why I don’t want to act in TV series and I won’t.”

In the spring of 2021, Basharov admitted that he beat all his wives. Because of this (and also against the backdrop of the scandal with Regina Todorenko, whose careless statement started a discussion about domestic violence), a petition began collecting signatures online demanding that Basharov be deprived of the title of Honored Artist. Basharov ignores such statements, but it is obvious that the scandals are affecting his popularity. He is rarely seen in major film projects. Except that in 2021 he appeared in the Tatar film “Mulla”, and in 2019 he played the main role in the Armenian-produced film “I Will Give You Victory”. However, he continues to lead the “Battle of Psychics.” According to the producers of the project, no one is going to remove Basharov from this position.
