DIY wish tree: photo, description, interesting ideas

paper tree

You will need:

  • a fairly large sheet of high-quality and beautiful paper (a tree can’t be the size of a daisy - who can leave wishes on it? Chinese calligrapher on grains of rice?);
  • frame for the finished work;
  • what you can and love to draw with;
  • decorative material suitable for paper - you can stick on ribbons, beads, sparkles;
  • double-sided colored paper or thin cardboard for “leaves”.

Draw a trunk and branches and color. If you don’t have time or special artistic skills, you can use ready-made wedding tree templates.

Decorate your creation to your liking. Insert your work into a frame. Consider making leaves on which your wishes will be written: will these really be leaves?

Maybe hearts or something else symbolizing the newlyweds? It happened to you to see a tree dotted instead of leaves... with cats!

How will leaves with wishes already written get onto the tree? For this, provide a small tube of glue that guests can use, and napkins. You can make different leaves for wishes separately for the young family, the bride, and the groom.

A fun option is leaves in the shape of guests’ fingerprints. Then you will need bright stamp pads. In this case, wishes are written with a pen next to the “leaves”.

A good option is a frame with glass. When all the wishes appear on the tree, you need to insert the glass into a frame and present it to the newlyweds as a souvenir.

Wedding celebration, birthday, children's party, meeting old friends... Wedding anniversary, last call, housewarming... How to make these holidays especially bright and memorable? What original entertainment can you come up with at a wedding?! The best thing is one that will not only delight guests and newlyweds, but will also remain in memory for many years. What do people remember about their wedding? Not much at all, most often the official part. Sometimes memories end at the moment when they uncorked the first bottle of champagne... But let’s not talk about sad things. You can do something much more useful than a feast and libations, but no less exciting. For example, create an unusual Wedding tree. And if, for example, on a birthday you need to somehow collect the wishes of all guests and relatives together, the Wishes Tree will help.

What are these trees? These are paintings created by skilled craftsmen from fingerprinttree.com . Each of these paintings depicts a large tree, and instead of leaves it has the fingerprints of those who leave their wishes. The scope for creativity and imagination, the pleasure of joint activities, allows the whole company to enjoy the creative process at once - and as a result, a unique, inimitable and one-of-a-kind souvenir is ready for the hero of the occasion.

Isn't it an original idea? Fingerprints really look like leaves, and due to the fact that the paint is multi-colored, the similarity is enhanced. At first there are no leaves on the tree at all.

And then, everyone puts their fingerprint, and leaves gradually begin to appear. Thus, the tree is dressed with foliage of imprints.

Having put your fingerprint, you need to sign it with your name, and write your wish directly on it. When each guest does this, many leaves will appear on the tree, and many wishes.

In order for everyone to make a good impression, you can practice on a separate, “fun” piece of paper

After this, you can safely put your imprint on a tree branch, sign your leaf, and your wish is ready.

A variety of the Wishing Tree is the Wedding Tree. All the guests and relatives who participated in the celebration leave their wishes on it. At first, such a tree also has no leaves.

Each guest then puts his fingerprint, and, leaving a wish, signs his sheet. The tree gradually becomes overgrown with leaves of wishes for the newlyweds.

What size is the canvas with the picture? It is equal to A3 format, or 297 x 420 mm + 30-40 mm frame size on each side. A standard “Wish Tree” in A3 format can accommodate 50-60 prints. If you are expecting more than 60 guests at your event, then it makes sense to order a “Wish Tree” of a larger size, for example A2 format. Otherwise, if 70 or more prints are left on a standard size, the picture will turn into a large “blot”. Many wishes require a big tree. Let the foliage grow to its fullest!

The paint used for prints does not fade in the sun and will always retain its brightness. When applying a fingerprint, almost all of it remains on the paper, and your fingers can be easily wiped off with a regular napkin.

wire tree

You will need:

  • long pieces of wire of a suitable color;
  • a skein of gold, silver or colored fishing line or wire for beads (sold in handicraft stores);
  • container for the role of “tub” - a vase or a beautiful tall glass;
  • rice;
  • material for decorating “branches” - artificial flowers, birds, butterflies or something else of your choice, for example, large single-color beads that look like berries or mini-apples;
  • short ribbons or pieces of wire for attaching wishes;
  • double-sided colored paper and thin cardboard for “leaves”.

Wishing tree with beads

You can make a wedding wish tree from wire and beads. You will need the following materials and tools:

  • pliers;
  • glue;
  • containers imitating flower pots.

First, you need to make a piece in the form of branches by stringing beads onto a wire and placing it in the middle of the cut piece. The number of beads on each piece depends on the size of the tree.

We twist the ends of the wire so that we get a beaded loop with a long tail. Connect the loops on the trunk, which are created from twisted wires. Straighten the branch loops. The splendor of the crown depends on the number of pieces. Pour beads into containers that imitate flower pots and pour glue on top.

After this, you need to plant the tree and allow the previously created structures to dry out. We straighten the leaf loops and decorate the containers with beads or rhinestones. You should hang small beautiful cards with wishes to the young family on the branches. You can present this wishing tree as a unique gift not only for a wedding.

Tree made from real branches

You will need:

  • several branches of suitable length and shape (do not take ones that are too thin and flexible, which, under the weight of decor and wishes, will turn your tree into a weeping willow, but too straight and hard will not work either - the tree will look like a street broom);
  • spray for painting branches;
  • container for “planting” a tree;
  • decorative pebbles for filling it (if you don’t know where to get them, look for pebbles for an aquarium in a pet store - they are smooth, round, and can be either natural or multi-colored);
  • pieces of thin ribbons or wire - for attaching wishes to branches;
  • material for decorating “branches” - if you don’t like how they look without it;
  • double-sided colored paper and thin cardboard for “leaves”.

Prepare branches about 1 m long. Hazelnut branches look very unique in such cases, but you can take any others - as long as they look impressive together.

Peel them from the bark. Spray paint it white, gold, silver or any other color - even black, if the decor and leaves are contrastingly bright, it will still look great.

Once your branches are dry, “plant” them in your container filled with pebbles. Check stability. Decorate the branches as desired. Make “leaves” and thread ribbons, braid or wires through them.

Wedding traditions: planting a tree

A little about the tradition itself

This tradition is also called the "Tree of Love". Back in the days of our great-great-grandfathers, newlyweds planted a tree, which symbolized the beginning of family life, well-being and happiness in the house. Gradually, new trees were planted to the tree of love after the birth of children. Thus, a cozy family garden grew in the yard. Nowadays, you can only roam like this in a country house or in the forest, but we will tell you about other options.

Where to plant?

You can plant a tree in the forest, in the country, in the park, if you are allowed, or even in the yard of your house. At the ceremony itself, you can plant the tree in a special tub or pot, and only then transport it to the right place.

If you want to immediately plant a tree in the ground, then discuss this in advance with the manager of the wedding venue. Free planting of trees is also prohibited in parks, so discuss this point with the administration in advance. By the way, if you decide to plant a tree in a tub, you can decorate it festively and beautifully in a wedding style.

What to plant?

It all depends on the time of year, location of the ceremony and your personal preferences. You don’t have to limit yourself to trees; you can plant your favorite indoor plant, cactus or flower.

It is worth considering the characteristics of the plant; give preference to more resistant varieties. If you want to leave this tree at home later, plant it in a suitable pot in advance so as not to injure it several times when transplanting. Try not to plant too capricious plants, because you want the symbol of your family to grow for many, many years to come!

How to conduct the ceremony?

A tree planting ceremony is a cozy family tradition and should be decorated accordingly. It is advisable to organize planting in daylight (for example, plant a tree immediately after completion of on-site registration).

Select your favorite music in advance to play in the background, and ask the host or one of the guests to read the accompanying words - this could be the story of your acquaintance, parting words from your parents, or just good wishes from the guests.

What should you consider?

Planting a tree and a bride's snow-white dress are not the best friends, so prepare aprons and gloves in advance to avoid getting dirty. If you plant a tree in the ground, you cannot do without a shovel; keep in mind that in the spring the soil is still hard.

If you plant a tree in a tub or flowerpot, prepare the soil in advance and decorate the ceremony site (you can use ordinary branches and ribbons). You can tie a ribbon with your wedding date on the tree itself. The main thing is to be sure that you will be able to care for the tree after the wedding, and take care of each other!

Necessary additions to your souvenir

Take care in advance about the right place for it - in some random corner, guests may simply not notice it, and you will have to work as a guide to the tree throughout the celebration;

Be careful about the writing utensils your guests will use.

Pencil writing is short-lived, the pen can smudge, and if your tree is made in subtle colors, bold orange markers are unlikely to be suitable here.
