I learned from my friend that the ransom can be done not with a traditional action a la market day at the Azerbaijani market with a groom-buyer and a witness-trader. She said a firm “no” to this option and boldly rushed to look for another approach.

Based on her tip, I read about a ransom quest that was invented and organized by one of the inventive brides.
The idea was that the groom was looking for the bride by solving riddles. The riddle, as a rule, was some place in the city, where the bride's friend was already waiting for the groom with the next puzzle. At that time, I already knew about quests and was eager to come up with something like that on my “X” day.

When day “X” was already looming on the horizon and the threat of being a melon hung over me... or not, better than a peach in the Azerbaijani market, I sat down to come up with a quest.

Bride ransom plot

First, I had to figure out the main concept: I don’t want to sit around half a day, gnawing on sunflower seeds and waiting for my future betrothed to be late for the registry office (well, not if I finally dragged him there after 6 years together)!
I also imagined the sour faces of my friends when I say that they need to cuckoo somewhere in elegant dresses to give the groom another hint! In addition, the wedding day promised to be eventful: a photo shoot, a registry office, a restaurant, a hotel. Where can you turn around for a multi-hour quest? The solution was found in this idea: my girlfriends and I are hiding in some beautiful place in our city, taking a photographer with us so that we have something to do until the groom and his friends decide to find us.

The “courier” (one of his friends) and I give the groom the first riddle, which indicates the place where the second one is hidden.

There will only be three clues for the groom to do it in 1-1.5 hours, with each next one hidden in a place that is closer and closer to the bride’s hiding place.

If the groom reaches a dead end, the witness (friend) can call the witness (friend of the bride) and exchange a promise (for example, to bring the bride coffee in bed every day after the wedding) for a transparent hint.

The first clue sent the groom and his friends to our neighborhood park. The park is quite large and one day, while walking around its territory, I noticed a mound of large stones near the playground.

The first clue is hidden in the stonehenge of our park near the place where children's laughter rings.

The groom also often visited this park, but I knew about his inattention to detail and thought that he and his friends would have to run around the park until they figured it out.

The second tip was quite simple, but sometimes the simple is what makes you suffer!

The second riddle is located on the street, the old name of which is consonant with a man's name, and the new one means the army of the Ukrainian People's Republic. On this street, the clue is hidden in a place that all entrepreneurs would like to hide from.

The technically “armed” groom and his friends rushed to Google all the tax authorities in our city (they guessed what entrepreneurs were afraid of), but for some reason they quickly rejected the correct option, and therefore wound up idling.

At this time, having long ago placed the second clue behind the sign of the tax service building on Artem Street (Sichev Streltsov Street), we were pushing the third clue with a yard broom onto the second floor of the ruins of an old house (early 20th century). We took pictures with the broom and laughed.

At this time, the groom's friend called us, asking for a hint. We were very happy. But the guys didn’t fall for our terms for a long time, and then they finally figured out where they needed to go and hung up. This spoiled our fighting spirit a little.

There is an alley along this street, not far from the house of the Soviet general who was killed by Bendera.

The groom's friends quickly guessed about the monastery, but spent a long time looking for inconspicuous ruins in the area.

It is worth saying that at first glance there will be large costs. But in fact, they can be reduced. Even if you don’t have a large amount of money, you can spend as little as possible. For tasks, you can use plain paper, artificially aged with a strong infusion of tea, paint the paper sheets by hand and write beautifully and legibly riddles, tasks and a letter from the bride, who is looking forward to her savior. You can put together a fortune teller or Baba Yaga costume from your grandmother’s chest; there are probably many interesting outfits stored there that will be useful to you. But it must be said that most of our friends, along with us, enjoyed this ransom or were at least intrigued by its non-standard format.

One of my girlfriends constantly called her boyfriend, who was a “secret agent” in the groom’s team, and asked him for operational information about what was happening and where the groom was.
