A wedding is one of the most touching events in the life of a couple in love. And to make it memorable for a long time, it is important to think through every moment of the celebration. If you are planning a fun and exciting wedding, then you should think about how you can surprise your guests. You won’t amaze anyone with the usual show program and dances! But an unexpected flash mob can become a real highlight of the wedding evening!
The main principles of a successful flash mob are unpredictability and mass participation.
Rules for a successful flash mob
Wedding flash mobs have become especially popular.
It is characterized by the gradual involvement of all characters in the dance. There are several varieties of this entertainment event. To organize a successful flash mob, you need to familiarize yourself with its rules.
- Appropriateness - of course, everyone without exception loves spontaneous dance, but it must take place at the appropriate time and main place. Therefore, if guests suddenly decide to start dancing in the middle of registration, this action will be considered both ridiculous and inappropriate. It is unlikely that anyone present will appreciate such an action. And what a shock the young people will be in. It is best to organize this kind of dance performance after registration during the banquet.
- It is mandatory to notify the host and wedding organizer about the flash mob itself. This is the person who should know about all the subtleties and moments that will take place. It is quite possible that he will even tell you how best to arrange a surprise and will be able to play along at some points.
- There are several options for a dance surprise at a wedding banquet. One of them is organized by newlyweds. Friends and the most active relatives are involved in it. This number will delight all guests and the newlyweds will have pleasant memories of filming this bright moment at their wedding. According to the second scenario, you can organize a dance number in such a way that neither the groom nor the bride knows about the events taking place. In this case, there must be one single organizer who can gather all the guests and surprise the young couple. The spouses will definitely like this, because they will not suspect anything.
- Any surprise number has a script. Guests are gradually drawn into the spontaneous dance. Therefore, the main idea must be thought out, according to which the dance will turn out unexpected, spontaneous. The flash mob is especially vivid when a young married couple meets near a restaurant. On the street you can perform an impromptu dance, which will gradually involve all the guests present.
- To make your number the most vivid and memorable, you can add interesting details to it. These could be signs with inscriptions about a happy family life, balloons or rose petals. That is, at the end of the dance it is worth putting a beautiful and bold point.
Who should be surprised? How to surprise?
Flash mob is always a surprise. Its key feature is that the participants do not show their involvement in the action until the very beginning. Like, they were passing by. According to the original idea, the flash mob participants do not even know each other , since all rallies of this kind were initially advertised on special forums.
It’s quite possible to organize a performance at a wedding and even attract a lot of interested strangers from the flash mob community
Dance flash mobs have become popular, when wedding participants suddenly start dancing something incendiary. But not just dancing. The mob scenarios are original and extraordinary. You just have to choose the one that suits you. Here is an example of a flash mob video at a wedding from friends.
Flash mob from the bride and groom. Don't give your mom a heart attack
If the newlyweds are absolutely sure that their relatives and invitees are not so impressionable that they are able to react well to an unusual performance, then it is worth going back to the roots and writing on the flash mob forum that people are invited to hold a meeting at the wedding celebration. You can develop an original idea yourself, or you can turn to the classics:
- Ask participants to enter the banquet hall during the celebration (discuss this detail with security) and tie a balloon to a chair. On the balloon, if desired, it would be cool to write something suitable: “Congratulations!”, “Love!”, “We are waiting for the details of the first wedding night!”
- At the exit from the registry office (here it would be good to strictly follow the time period, otherwise the flash mob will be appreciated by another couple), the flash mob participants pounce on the newlyweds and give a big hug. The point is that complete strangers who were just “passing by” hug you.
- During the walk with the guests and the photo shoot, passers-by (and in fact members of the mob) ask to take a selfie with the newlyweds, ask for their autograph, or simply join in while the couple is posing in a funny and awkward pose.
When organizing a traditional mob involving participants from the flash mob community, there is always a risk of encountering negative or envious citizens . But usually groups of mobbers are completely harmless and cool guys who will enthusiastically support the wedding prank.
However, if the fear of strangers is present in such an important event, then organize a surprise with the participation of some guests
The classic option here could be “Dead Battery”. This is when in the middle of a celebration, be it dancing, a toast at the table or another active event, at a signal, the newlyweds and the rest of the initiates pretend that they have “run out of charge.” And people fall on the spot in all directions .
There are a huge number of scenarios that are suitable for a wedding. Use your imagination or look for ideas from experienced mobbers.
Costume flash mob from friends at a wedding
Flash mob at a wedding from friends for the bride and groom. Dance greetings are trending
Witnesses, friends, colleagues and other guests of the newlyweds at the wedding can give a gift to the couple and organize a flash mob in their honor:
- A dance flash mob from a dance studio is a cool gift from witnesses. In any crowded place where the couple will pass (registration hall, park or courtyard of the house), completely unexpectedly for the newlyweds, music begins to sound and random passers-by turn into dancers. Choose the dance style yourself, based on the preferences of the bride and groom - Irish, Lindy, Rumba, Waltz, etc. In this case, one significant drawback may appear, since one of the basic principles of the flash mob is violated - its free nature. Most likely, the dance studio will ask for a small amount of money to organize the dance. But this is not necessary and depends, for example, on your personal connections with the dancers.
- Vocal flash mob . The principle is the same as the dance one. But it can be organized without involving a choir. Of course, the performance of the song by professional singers will cause complete delight. But both wedding guests and “random” participants in the performance can demonstrate their vocal abilities.
- Gift flash mob . All guests at the celebration, after the obligatory toast, end it with the same strange phrase and give the newlyweds the same small gift. For example, a pacifier for an unborn child. Real gifts, of course, should be hidden not very far away in order to be taken out in time when, on the 15th nipple, the bride and groom already begin to suspect something.
Next, you can watch a video of a wedding flash mob as a gift to the newlyweds.
The idea and organization of a flash mob usually falls on the shoulders of witnesses at the wedding and close friends of the newlyweds. This is presented as an original gift for the bride and groom. A wedding flash mob from relatives can also be organized to help the toastmaster, in order to complement traditional competitions.
Dance ideas for flash mob
There are several interesting ideas that will help you organize a dance flash mob . In total, there are 3 different options for holding such an event.
- Dance option - all guests present need to go on the dance floor. Suddenly, at some point, the music suddenly switches and everyone starts dancing, and one by one they join in the dance itself. That is, initially the most courageous, energetic and agile begins to move to the rhythm of the dance. Then gradually more and more new dancers join him. As a result, guests notice that in fact almost the entire hall is dancing and repeating the same movements. It doesn’t take long before you realize that this is actually a flash mob. Especially if very simple movements are taken for this.
- Freezing is a dance form in which all the dancers suddenly freeze for 2-3 seconds and then continue to move again. The effectiveness of this version of the flash mob is achieved due to the position in which each of those present freezes. These can be completely ridiculous poses. This will only make it more fun and enjoyable for guests to watch the mobbers.
- Battery – the flash mob got its name due to the fact that during the dance the battery seemed to run out. That is, after the actual dance, the mobbers stop moving and lower their heads down. They look like dolls whose battery has suddenly suddenly died.
Types of flash mobs: dance, battery and fading
At a wedding, you usually see a dance flash mob, when a group of people spontaneously begin to perform the same movements. You can come up with a scenario for such a flash mob yourself or contact a professional dance group who will choreograph the moves. You will find one of these groups here.
In addition to dancing, you can organize the following unusual types of flash mobs at a wedding:
- “Battery effect”: guests dance, and then suddenly stop, as if their battery had run out. Imagine the surprise of other guests who are not participating in the flash mob.
- “Freezing”: during active actions, for example, a dance break, guests dance, and then, as if on command, they freeze for a minute, and after a while they begin to dance again.

How to organize a flash mob?
In order to organize a flash mob, you need to find the person who will directly stage the surprise dance. This must be an active, mobile and energetic person. As a rule, such a dancer becomes the center of the mob itself.
Next you need to think about the number of people. Of course, the more you involve in the dance itself, the more colorful and interesting it will be. Therefore, do not be shy, you can invite a large number of people. At a minimum, there should be 10 people. Of course, each of them should not be shy and constrained.
Specify the time of the event in advance. Since there can be many participants, it will be extremely ridiculous if you have to approach everyone and inform them about the start of a flash mob. It’s better to at least roughly indicate the time so as not to look for any of the mob participants.
Take care of the props needed for the dance. These could be balloons, colored ribbons or other interesting elements. At the end, it would be a good idea to give the bride a bouquet of flowers. This can also be considered part of the props. Having brought such accessories to the hall, agree with the presenter on where they will be stored.
It is impossible to do without a musical composition. It is to the music that the main movements will be performed. Therefore, make sure you have it.
Basic principles of flash mob
- spontaneity of the event in the broadest sense;
- lack of central leadership, a clear leader;
- without financial, advertising or other motives;
- lack of personification - flash mob participants should not show in any way that they know each other;
- The idea of coverage and popularization by the media is not supported.
Flash mob is an amazing phenomenon that is quickly gaining popularity. In English, “flashmob” means “instant crowd,” and indeed, it was the massiveness and unpredictability that ensured such success of this pre-planned action. As a rule, participants meet via the Internet. In fact, it was designed for casual spectators in order to arouse interest, bewilderment and even a desire to participate in such a spectacular event. Over the course of a year, the flash mob turned from a bright provocation into a full-fledged art. Nowadays it is not just a crowd of people gathering in a public place to perform simple, pre-agreed movements, but a whole performance with the participation of professional dancers and other representatives of creative professions. A flash mob for a wedding from friends is not just an original means of self-expression, but also a great opportunity to tell the newlyweds about your feelings and wishes through dance.
Tips for hosting a musical performance
Remember that a flash mob is not a dance that is performed from beginning to end of one song. Rather, it is a specific passage or segment of a bright composition.
The music itself will depend on what idea you take as a basis. As a rule, most flash mobs are held to an energetic and moving song. It can easily be turned on immediately after the melodic part.
For example, everyone goes out to perform a slow dance and suddenly, suddenly, completely suddenly, the music stops and the lights turn off. After the lights in the hall turn on, all members of the mob stand on the stage. They begin to move actively to an energetic song .
Flash mob with strangers
An active bridesmaid can organize a page on the Internet in advance, which will describe the place and time of the planned event. It’s better if the flash mob takes place during a wedding walk in the fresh air.
Editor's choice: Blue wedding in summer: royal sophistication and light style
Try to attract as many people as possible to the event, complete strangers.
There are several options for the development of events. You can play a prank on the newlyweds by asking strangers to take turns approaching the bride with a marriage proposal and a request for a divorce. It will be interesting to watch the groom's reaction.
You can ask people to come to the appointed place with balloons and at the appointed time release them at the same time, shouting the names of the newlyweds.
And here dancing is again relevant, in extreme cases a simple round dance around the heroes of the occasion, which will suddenly gather from passers-by.
Ask people to gather at the right time in a crowded area, spreading out and going about their business. And at the moment when the newlyweds’ cortege arrives, rush to meet them, accompanied by loud applause and requests for an autograph. Photos with the faces of the newly minted “celebrities” will be priceless.
Bridesmaids dance; Wedding flash mob
Often newlyweds are not limited to just one wedding dance and prepare even more interesting performances for the entertainment part of the wedding... Yes, a wedding dance is an important tradition and many observe it, but if the goal is to surprise the viewer with something unusual, then I have something to offer couple...Wedding flash mobs, dance masterclasses with an audience, bridesmaids' dance, joint dance of the bride with her bridesmaids, dance of the groom's friends. And once I choreographed a dance for the parents of the newlyweds, with whom I was studying at the same time. And everyone hid from each other that they were studying with me))) The surprise was more than a success!
Dance of the bride Anastasia with her bridesmaids.
It was bright and impressive! A dance with your bridesmaids is a great opportunity to make your congratulations original and unforgettable! I am very happy that I was given a wonderful opportunity to put on an interesting dance mix for Anastasia and her friends.
The dance of the bride Anastasia and her bridesmaids left a charge of positive mood and pleasant memories at the wedding! Anastasia, thank you very much for the wonderful execution of our creation, it was cool..!)))
Dance of the bride Elena with her bridesmaids.
The dance of Elena and her friends had its own twist... Elena performed the song live, and her friends performed in the act as backup dancers. It was an unforgettable experience! I am very grateful to Elena for the opportunity to act as a choreographer for staging a real concert number!
THE COOLEST SURPRISE FROM THE GROOM! Rehearsal for the incredible “Gadzilla Dance”, the groom and his friends! I was hysterical when I saw these dinosaurs. Our rehearsal room has turned into a real Jurassic Park!
It was not just funny, no one expected this... We had only one hour-long meeting, 2 days before the wedding, and we had to put on a small performance. And the guys had to dance with the guests for the rest of the song.
It is impossible to describe everything that happened at our rehearsal... 4 huge tyrannosaurs occupied the entire hall. The suit did not allow us to see those standing next to us, on the right and left sides, because the viewing window was small and it was possible to look only forward. Someone will step on the tail and collide with the person standing next to you...
But it was funny and at the same time scary when during the dance the air supply to the costume was cut off. The dinosaur began to sharply deflate, its head immediately fell and the dancer did not understand what to do. As one of the guys said: “To suffocate in a dinosaur costume, what could be better at a friend’s wedding?” To which the other replied: “Yeah, and even worse, you can’t drink, the window will fog up from the inside.”
How great it is to have such friends who are ready to support you in any idea! I admit, this is the most unusual surprise for the groom of all time and I am very happy that I was given the opportunity to realize this idea!
Staging a wedding flash mob in Indian style, without exaggeration, gave me great pleasure! This was completely new in my practice and each rehearsal was remembered only by positive moments.
Indian wedding flash mob is such a creative process that I could barely cope with the endless hurricane of creative thoughts regarding dance elements. Such a springboard for dance, so many possibilities...)) Incendiary songs from famous Indian films creatively blew my mind and I wanted to stage something different from everything I had ever seen...
Frankly, I had a hard time restraining myself in staging the wedding flash mob, because I saw that all the participants were just as excited about this dance as I was! I felt support and responsibility from my students, but I understood that there was a possibility of going too far with the number of movements and the complexity of the elements. The deadlines were running out... Thanks to the hard work and responsible attitude of the guys, the entire staging of the Indian wedding flash mob took us 5 lessons!!! Is it hard to believe? Frankly, at the last rehearsal we also had a hard time believing that we were able to master this choreographic baggage! But we did it!))
It was a very rewarding experience for me!
