First of all, the correct spelling of her first and last name raises many questions. Nailya is a name of Persian origin, derived from the masculine “Nail”. The meaning of this name is “gift”, “reward”, another meaning of the translation is “receiving the gift”. Girls named “Nailya” are usually calm and modest in childhood; in later life, they demonstrate perseverance and will to others, have a sharp mind, and pay a lot of attention to health. Great-grandfather on my mother’s side, Gerey Karimovich Valeev, fought during the Great Patriotic War, was called up to the front and ended up near Moscow in 1941. He was awarded many military awards, received three serious wounds - the consequences of the latter “came back to haunt” him in 1963, when he had to urgently remove a “walking” fragment from his body. His wife Raviya Sharafutdinovna worked at the post office during the war and was a lawyer. This profession has long since sunk into oblivion, but during World War II it was in great demand: using the Hughes machine it was possible to directly transmit urgent messages, which were immediately printed by the recipient on a paper tape. In her biographies they often write: “The young woman hides information about her childhood, and only on social networks can one find a hint that she was born and raised in Baku.” No one is hiding anything! Nailya, if asked, talks in detail about her early years and parents. The father of the future “star” of Russian TV was a physics engineer by training, and his mother was a nurse. The daughter mentioned about her mother that she worked for many years in the physiological department at the Baku maternity hospital named after Krupskaya. The journalist said that her childhood was very happy at first: “I remember the kindergarten where Inara (sister) and I went. I also remember well that we had a lot of toys, huge, soft ones - mostly bears. My sister and I sat the dolls in a circle, and I interviewed them.”

And my father, coming from the street, said that they were shooting on the street, and not over their heads, but often at living people. Mannaf Abbasovich Asker-zade, Naili’s grandfather, at that time was a captain of the first rank - he and his wife Elena Alexandrovna devoted their entire lives to the army. He helped his son’s family leave Baku so that they could wait out the bloody events in a safe place. As part of the Caspian Flotilla, as members of the family of senior officers, they leave the city. “Everyone left Baku with the sole purpose of surviving. There was not enough space for everyone on the ship; they accommodated two or three families per cabin. Those who were lucky were lying on their beds, the rest were on the floor,” another fragment from an interview about leaving Azerbaijan. After a difficult journey on a sea vessel, a train journey to Sevastopol awaited them. The TV presenter recalled that upon arrival in Sevastopol everyone became very ill; For example, she had a temperature of about forty - the road was so difficult.

They stayed in Sevastopol for about two weeks, then returned to Baku. The situation had stabilized, but for a long time everyone was still worried. “When I remember those years after returning, I think: nothing now, no difficulties, no nervous shocks can be compared with what we experienced then,” says Nailya Asker-zade. She went to a specialized school with in-depth study of French. Mom and dad went to work again, and the girl’s grandfather-officer picked her up from school: he came to pick her up in a black military uniform in a state-owned Volga. The journalist remembers how her classmates looked at the car with admiration: “Teachers, parents, children turned around, and I was proud that next to me was my grandfather, who loved me more than anyone.”

Then the parents unexpectedly divorced (the story is silent about the reason), and the mother and the girls moved to Volgograd. There Nailya graduated from high school with a gold medal. This was also a special school, with French, where “they tortured me with foreign literature, technical translations and communication ethics,” from the girl’s memoirs. She still has memories of the eleventh grade, sleepless nights preparing for exams, visiting tutors in literature, Russian language and mathematics - these subjects were already planned to be taken as entrance exams to the university.

Volgograd State University, exams for the Faculty of Economics - the next, last stage of childhood. Nailya, as a “gold” medalist, having passed one exam with an “A”, could not pass the rest. That's what she did: she got an A in math and passed. “Grandfather was the most happy of all, he was so proud of me! When I found out about my admission, I showered him with gifts,” she said today.

Youth

Nailya began to be interested in English in elementary school. In the theater group, she participated in the production of English-language plays. The role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet was her favorite. Naila managed to make the whole audience laugh at the moment of the death of the main character.

One of the teachers confidentially told the student that NTV was looking for a young man or woman for the position of international editor, and Naili had knowledge of foreign languages and a higher education in economics. She immediately submits an application, and as soon as she receives the go-ahead, she quits her previous job, moves to TV, the harsh everyday life of working at NTV begins: getting up at four, or even earlier, the shift starts at five in the morning, the shift ends at half past three . And so - a week, then a week - a weekend. At that time, Mrs. Asker-zade met a wonderful woman, her best mentor - Svetlana Makarova. An experienced teacher of speech techniques, Svetlana Kornelievna “put” on TV such famous announcers as Leonid Parfenov and Katya Andreeva. Nailya also became her student, and Svetlana constantly repeated to her: “You are a wonderful student, you deserve to become a TV presenter.” At NTV, Nailya was then involved in stories about international events: she wrote texts, edited and read them, and monitored the editing of economic programs. Everything would be fine, but “shifts starting at dusk, and the same hopeless salary,” are her words about that period on NTV. She had two whole weeks free in the month, and the girl is looking for additional work, which she finds in the Kommersant publication. Luck again: the newspaper is looking for a person with knowledge of two foreign languages (and Nailya knew English perfectly well) in the financial department. The first work published by the girl in this publication is dated March 10, 2007 and is called: “The US stock market has been overcome by spammers.”

Here are her words about starting work at Kommersant: “Although they were paid generously (a dollar per line), one gold medal was not enough to become the “golden pen” of the most influential printed resource in the country.” It was necessary to find a common language with businessmen, attend economic forums, read foreign publications to keep abreast of events. Her immediate supervisor, Liza Golikova (who, by the way, hired Nailya), urged the girl not to hesitate, to cast aside indecision: “They all (businessmen) need you no less than you need them.” Asker-zade is immensely grateful to Lisa, which she never ceases to talk about in an interview: “She taught me the basics of journalism and “trained” me to be courageous.” It became increasingly difficult to travel from Kaluzhskaya (she continued to work for NTV) to Sokol, where the Kommersant editorial office was located. The number of published articles grew, earnings increased, and after two months of working at the publication, Naila was offered to quit her second job in order to work full-time at her main job. Of course, it was a pity to leave NTV, but the “twilight” salary there was no longer so necessary, and Asker-zade left there. In total, during her work at Kommersant, she published... Not one hundred, not two hundred, but five hundred and forty-four full-fledged, interesting articles! The latter was released on May 5, 2010, with the name “Euro-Russian Standard”.

Working on television

Her career as a TV presenter began with work on the Russia 24 channel. Initially, Nailya was doing her usual thing - interviewing and reporting. In 2013, the Rossiya 1 TV channel invited the journalist to observe business meetings of major executives.

After 2 years, the TV presenter began to host her own author’s project on “Russia 24” called “At Working Noon”. After the successful launch of the project, Nailya continued to host it on the Russia 1 channel under the new name “Characters”.

The essence of the program was frank conversations with famous people. The highlight of the show was meeting the characters in unusual places - in a coal mine, playing billiards, in a relaxed atmosphere.
