— Many actors, who have comedy in them, are very serious, deep people in life. For all his natural humor and lightness, Viktor Ivanovich is the wisest man. And very attentive to his partners. At the rehearsal of Tartuffe, I fell and broke my arm and two ribs. And I was taken to Sklifosovsky. Of all the people in the theater who was able to put aside their business at that moment and come with me, he was the only one. Considering that we were not friends and had just started rehearsing our play, this was valuable to me.

How he worked for me in the hospital! I was still breastfeeding at that time, and I couldn’t inject anything, I could lose milk from painkillers. And Viktor Ivanovich ran to the doctors, explained something to them, asked for help, explaining my situation as a nursing mother.

- They must grow together on their own. You wear elastic bandages, but after two weeks it is not recommended to wear them. You should not make sudden movements, in general be very careful. Three weeks later I was already on stage.

— Are you taking care of yourself now?

— Unfortunately, I don’t learn from my mistakes. I don't take care of myself. But I don’t even remember this incident when I start rehearsing or playing on stage. Everything from the beginning every time, every new performance. After that incident, I have no fear that I will fall during rehearsal. You are completely in the role, and the stage actually acts magically, it heals, gives incredible strength.

— Have you performed any stunts yourself?

— There are actors with professional skills in acrobatics and gymnastics, they can use this and safely perform stunts themselves. I have training in the form of rhythmic gymnastics. For example, in the play “The Chronicles of Doctor Prentis” directed by Sergei Golomazov, I was doing a cartwheel on stage in a straitjacket, with my hands tied.

Yegor Druzhinin did a lot of dancing and stage movements in the play “The Pit”. For example, the girls lift me in their arms and carry me very high.

— How much do you weigh, if it’s not a secret?

— I’m a light girl – 50 kilograms. But I am very long - my height is about 180 cm.

— What did you specifically train for a particular role?

— Any role presupposes that you know the profession of your heroine. Even a small role in a TV series requires preparation. In the film “Desperadoes” directed by Daria Poltoratskaya, I played a journalist. I wanted to repeat exactly how journalists behave at the scene of an event. I watched news programs, broadcasts from the scene of incidents, live broadcasts. The way journalists deliver their speech, the way they speak – very quickly and clearly. Even the way they held the microphone was important.

— Do you find it difficult to be a journalist?

- Complex. I understand that journalists do not choose where, when and under what circumstances they report. For example, I was frozen while filming; my lips couldn’t even move from the cold. I thought: how do they actually speak in such conditions? But necessary means necessary. And if a person is unpleasant, you still need to interview him and at the same time be impartial. A journalist is a psychologist to some extent. Playing this role, I realized that being a journalist is not an easy profession.

— You starred in the series “Women's Stories.” What are the most pressing women's problems in our society?

— For example, the institution of marriage is depreciating, here I mean civil marriage. Not that this problem applies only to women, but I am now speaking from my position. From my point of view, if through the centuries the concept of family has reached us, then it’s probably for a reason. I am for the institution of marriage, based on love and mutual respect. But now there are many opposing opinions.

— What about the so-called “guest” marriage?

- This is what I don’t understand. Although, maybe he is a sea captain and therefore rarely sees his family. However, I have no right to condemn anyone.

- I’m not talking to any actress right now - they all have children...

- Yes, and that's great. Previously, female actresses gave birth less. They were making a career and could not afford to leave the theater on maternity leave for a long time. Now, in my opinion, it is easier to combine motherhood and work in the theater. I believe that there is no better role in the world than the role of a mother.

— What qualities do you value in men?

- Responsibility. Sense of humor. Mind. Reliability. You can survive a lot if you approach the situation with humor. A mind that seeks and develops, which makes it possible to be open, to be able to find compromises and ways out of sometimes difficult situations.

— How do you feel about misalliances? When, for example, a young poor girl marries a rich old man...

— In order to discuss this topic, I myself must have such experience. I don’t have it and therefore I can’t say what it’s like. But this has always been the case. In any country and in any historical time we will find examples of such unions. For example, a young girl married some elderly professor or actor who has a name. People of the adult generation sometimes have very powerful authority. And I can assume that a girl sincerely falls in love not with the way her chosen one looks, but with authority, with the power of experience. Often in the energy of power that a person has. But I think that in any case, love should be the basis.

— What was it about your role in the recent series “From Hate to Love” that interested you?

— This was my first role where I had to die on screen.

— Are you afraid of such roles?

— The first question I asked myself when I read the script and realized that the possible ending for my heroine Daria was tragic. But I am a believer. So in the end there were no problems.

— Didn't you ask the priest for permission?

— You know, I talked to the priest, but at that time the script had not been completed, and it was assumed that my heroine would simply become seriously ill. There was an open ending. During the filming, the script was added to, making Daria's life more and more difficult. My heroine fell deeply in love, but when she learned about her illness, she broke off all relations with her beloved man, without explaining anything to him.

— I came to Vyacheslav Zaitsev after standing in a huge queue at the Fashion House on Prospekt Mira. I was about 14 years old. There was a big competition, and Vyacheslav Mikhailovich took me to his school. Thin, fragile, he somehow saw something in me. These were wonderful years, although at that time the modeling business was just emerging and was quite dangerous in Moscow. But this did not apply at all to Vyacheslav Zaitsev and his Fashion House. It was an excellent school where they taught how to behave, how to walk in heels, how to dress correctly. For a teenager, this is all very important. The father played the main role in it, and since the film was filmed for quite a long time, Evgenia decided to reunite the family and came with her daughter to the apartment that was rented to Kaidanovsky. The first evening the baby cried for almost forty minutes, on the second the neighbor came and, seeing young Zhenya, sternly asked if there were adults in the house and why the child was crying. Now Zoya is an actress in the same theater where her mother works, she created her own family with actor Alexei Zakharov, gave birth to three children: son Alyosha and daughters Varya and Sonya. While filming Ilya Frez’s film “Quarantine,” Simonova met actor Dmitry Polonsky. A fleeting romance brought them to the doors of the registry office, but family life did not work out, they were too different. After living together for about a year, the couple divorced. The actress decided that she had had enough of family experiments and plunged into work. One day, a friend of his came to pick up her colleague Igor Kostolevsky after a performance, and they offered Simonov a ride as well. Sitting in the back seat, Evgenia could not take her eyes off the brown eyes in the mirror. The driver, who turned out to be Andrei Eshpai, also looked at his new acquaintance.

That evening they each went their separate ways, and met again only two years later, on the set. They started dating, and when their common daughter Masha was two months old, they officially married. Now Maria Eshpai is a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, as well as the Danish Aarhus Conservatory, and a well-known pianist in Denmark. She starred in her father’s films several times and wrote music for his film “Tell the Truth.” Married to a Sicilian musician and trumpeter.

In 2017, the actress’s name was listed first in the credits of the melodrama “Hornet’s Nest.” Here Simonova portrayed the head of the family without men. The head of the family was a scientist and thanks to him, everyone moved to the capital - there he was offered a good position. Mom was a foreign language teacher and it was in her footsteps that the future actress wanted to follow. Olga died in 1991, and for a long time, Simonova could not come to terms with the loss. She herself admits that her father helped her with this.

Evgenia has a brother - Yuri Vyazemsky. Some people are familiar with this personality - the man writes books and hosts several programs. When he began to make his way into the creative world, he decided to use a pseudonym. And so as not to have to go far, I wrote down my mother’s surname.
