Our unusual wedding at the dacha. Lots of photos)
UPD In the fourth post I added a slideshow from the photo
Hi all! My name is Katya) I haven’t written much on this forum, but I’ve read a lot. I hope my report will be useful especially to those who are planning a wedding in the country. There are not many of them, but I know that they exist?
In March or April of this year we decided to get married. August 22 was supposed to be the 3rd anniversary of our relationship. I decided that it would be symbolic to get married on this date or as close to it as possible. It turned out on August 19th. There was just the necessary time for preparation. For the first time in my life, I thought about what kind of wedding I would like. I gave free rein to my imagination, and this is the picture she painted for me. Summer. Nature. Green trees, flowers, fresh air, sun. Live cheerful music, pipes, saxophone, lively musicians. I'm wearing a beautiful long light dress. The groom is handsome. We are very happy and laughing. The guests around us are happy for us. Everything is fun and easy. This is how I generally imagined it. There are few specifics. But I realized what kind of atmosphere I wanted and that the wedding should definitely be outdoors. We immediately thought about the dacha. The parents of the groom (Artyom) have a large plot of land near Zaraysk, which is about 150 km from Moscow. At first we rejected this option, because... very far. We thought about all sorts of cottages, tents, etc. But we still came to the conclusion that we would never be as comfortable as at our own dacha. Plus there's a lot of space there. And, of course, it was much cheaper. The two worst problems were traffic and weather. The most terrible ones, because we could not influence them in any way. To reduce traffic jams, we decided to sign on Friday instead of Saturday. And before lunch, that is. before the traffic jams, go to the country.
So, PREPARATION . Basically it started two months before the wedding after submitting the application. Before that, however, we bought a dress and rings. And in theory, I was already well versed. I knew what I wanted. All that remained was to implement it.
the dress for very long. I visited three salons and continued to scour the Internet, because... I didn’t like anything that was available categorically. I accidentally came across it on the Internet, saw it and realized that I had to take it, because it’s just mine, and I couldn’t find a dress that would suit me better! Now I'm selling it for cheap ?
rings , without stones, engravings and all that. We chose white gold. “Bronnitsky Jeweler” store at the factory in Bronnitsy.
I thought about invitations . About two months. There were many ideas, but I didn't like any of them particularly much. For some reason I didn’t want classic paper invitations. Artyom came up with the idea to make a website. Often, especially in America, they create a wedding website on which they post information about the desired gifts. Each guest notes what he wants to give from the list. Thus, the newlyweds receive the ordered gifts, which, moreover, are not repeated. This idea seems kind of mercantile to me. After all, we don’t invite guests because of gifts and would be happy to welcome anyone, and in general I love surprises. And we just made an invitation site. These are pieces from it)
There was the text of the invitation, the address of the registry office, the address of the dacha, maps and, of course, our funny faces. Everything was done in one day. Artyom made a virtual invitation card with the site address on it, and we sent it to our potential guests.
I really wanted to do everything as much as possible with my own hands. And the hot time for handmade . I made decorations for the area. Checkboxes. There were a lot of them. They were everywhere.
Flags with letters. On our tent (we spent our wedding night in a tent) it was written “heaven in a tent.” After the rain, only “paradise” remained
The birdhouse toilet says "restroom")
Paper pompoms. There were red pompoms above the table. They were all washed away by the rain that fell on the eve of the wedding. But there are photos from the preparation, when we hung them up.
Blue pom-poms hung in the “photo zone.” For some reason, most of them survived. Although they were made from the same paper as the red ones.
Paper flags. They moved towards each other a little. But it’s great that they didn’t get wet at all from the rain.
Heart garlands
Love birds. One of its wings flew off from the rain and curled up into a tube)
Birds on which guests wrote wishes and hung them on the “wishing tree”
The signs were made together with Artyom
Pompoms for napkins
Mustaches, beards, lips, eyebrows and one small hairy mole for funny photos
Decorations for the car. My brother's car. He was our driver on our wedding day.
Mom sewed a pillow for the rings from her wedding dress, which, however, was already cut up by that time
My father-in-law made a very long table and benches himself. I really enjoyed making all sorts of beautiful things, I had a lot of fun! It’s a pity, of course, that a lot of things were ruined by the rain. But I'm glad that this was all it took.
We are very friendly with the Internet and are used to buying everything in online stores. It's faster, cheaper and easier. Sandals and a blouse for the evening were bought for me, as well as suspenders, a bow tie and shoes for the groom in Korea. The groom's trousers and shirt were bought on ASOS.
beautiful jewelry in one of the bride’s reports. I realized that this was what I wanted, found out the master’s coordinates and ordered the same ones for myself. Zoya link
a stylist for a long time and painfully. I hardly wear makeup. That's why it was scary. I chose Tamara Surinova (link) and was pleased. The result can be seen below)
When we started thinking about the issue of food and serving , I suggested using catering services, but almost no one supported me. And most importantly, Artyom’s parents, who were supposed to meet us at the dacha, were categorically against it and wanted to cook everything themselves. As a result, of course, they suffered a lot, but they were happy) With strangers: cooks, waiters, the atmosphere probably would not have been so homely. At first they wanted to rent the dishes, but the price was not much lower than the sale price. And if you take it for several days, it’s cheaper to buy it. We chose the simplest white plates, cups and everything else made of transparent glass. There are no ready-made tablecloths as large as our table for sale. I bought ordinary white calico and made two tablecloths from it: for a large table and for the table on which the samovar stood, as well as napkins. I had to buy a three-tier cake stand. Usually they are given along with the cake, but we didn’t have any cake. We came up with the idea of putting Dunkin Donuts on a stand. The shape resembled a three-tier cake. We sell cake stand.****
Photographer . This is certainly a very, very important question. And we were lucky. Even before we had to begin the painful search for a photographer, I came across a report from one of the brides. I really liked her photos. The report included the photographer's coordinates. It turned out that the price is quite low for Moscow, and the photos are exactly to my taste! I noticed that in this area, as in many, the price does not always correspond to the quality. Some ask for unreasonably large fees. Well, of course, everyone has different tastes. Christina is close to me in spirit, we are about the same age and it was very easy to work together. As I wanted, the pictures turned out very lively, conveying the atmosphere of that day. I highly recommend Christina link
Musicians . This was an integral part of our wedding. There had to be musicians! We wanted a jazz or brass band that played fiery music that would make it impossible to sit still. I have only seen such groups on the streets of Europe. It seemed to me that only street musicians were like that. We searched and searched, but there was nothing even close to suitable. From jazz music one came across either dull saxophonists or “classical jazz”. Artyom started searching in Kontik and they were successful! I don’t know how he found them, but we were both wildly delighted! I already thought that such musicians do not exist in nature. But they exist! Mosbras link Nowhere was it stated that they play at events, only in the streets and concerts. Artyom wrote to them, and they happily agreed. Which we were very, very happy about!
Bouquet . I spent a lot of time on it. At first I discussed options for a long time with one florist. When she had already placed the order, it turned out that she could not get peony roses. I got upset and found another florist, or rather, she found me herself on this forum. We finally settled on peony roses. I am very pleased with the bouquet. Made by Olga Pashkova
Gifts for guests I thought about making some beautiful soap for everyone first. But I have already given it to most of the guests. So it wouldn't be an unexpected surprise. This option was rejected. In any case, I wanted to make something with my own hands, and not buy it from a store. And I came up with an idea! Gingerbread men! ? The idea was fun. We decided to make each guest a gingerbread man that looked like them. I've never made anything with gingerbread dough before. I tried 3 recipes. For about two weeks we had gingerbread for dessert every day? Finally I liked the dough and started making little people. There were supposed to be 25 of them. As a result, I probably made 40 of them, because the dough was very fragile and their arms and legs kept breaking off. I did them not at once, but over several days. Then they painted them together with icing and packaged them. But the torment was not in vain! The guests appreciated my creative approach. Some didn’t even want to eat the little men, they kept them as souvenirs. Although they were very tasty and aromatic) Is this Christina, our photographer?
How to Decorate a Venue
The place where the celebration will take place plays an important role. Let's look at how to decorate a wedding outdoors. For example, in a city park.
You should first obtain permission from the administration, especially if it is a large city. However, holding a celebration in the park may be hindered by the presence of strangers and curious people. Another place is the nearest suburb. Here you can find a peaceful lawn.
It’s good if there is a pond nearby and trees where you can hide from the hot sun. There should also be a level space for installing tables.
Some old estates provide wedding services. In this case, you will not only have a beautiful wedding in nature. You will receive ideas for photo and video shooting as a bonus! Almost all tourist centers provide venues for events. This is a convenient option, since guests have a place to stay overnight, and the infrastructure is conducive to comfort.
Attention! The bride can arrive at the recreation center in a wedding dress, and then change into a more comfortable outfit.
A beautiful wedding turns out to be on the seashore. There is fresh air, a great place for photo shoots, and plenty of space to relax.
However, it is important to provide shelter from the bright sun, because not all guests may like this.

Preparation stages
Let's consider the main stages in creating a celebration in nature, what to pay attention to:
- Choosing a location.
- Purchase or rental of tables, chairs, arches.
- Thinking through the style.
- Selection of the image of the bride and groom.
- Menu development.
- Script writing.
At first glance, there is nothing complicated here. Since the wedding is outdoors, the scenario obviously suggests that everything should be extremely simple, without pomp. But you will have to provide for many little things. For example, the menu should include foods that will maintain their freshness in hot weather. It is imperative to provide the availability of water so that guests can wash their hands, and a toilet. You need to start planning your wedding at least a month in advance, especially if the venue needs to be booked in advance.
Advantages and disadvantages of an outdoor wedding
An outdoor wedding is a great option for a celebration. Organizing an open-air banquet has several positive qualities in the form of:
- fresh air;
- presence of a vast territory;
- no restrictions on the celebration;
- exit registration;
- launching doves, fireworks, balloons;
- holding a themed holiday;
- a huge selection of venues for events.
But, despite the presence of so many advantages, a holiday in nature is characterized by some disadvantages. First of all, this includes weather conditions. Each season is characterized by its own anomalous phenomena. It could rain or snow, there could be strong winds, or unbearable heat. This can significantly spoil the holiday.
Another disadvantage is the presence of insects. Mosquitoes, flies, flies and bees get in the way, climb onto food, and bite guests.
It is not always possible to organize a festive table with ease. And not all guests will agree to go to nature on their own. But if you immediately take into account all the advantages and disadvantages, you can avoid the development of troubles.
Style selection
The simplest and most budget option, if the wedding is taking place outdoors in the summer and a small number of guests are expected, is to organize a barbecue outdoors. There will be little money spent, and guests will enjoy the holiday in good company. If you want something unusual, you will have to try.
You can organize a celebration in an ethnic style in nature. You should definitely consider thematic competitions. If the wedding is planned in a national style, then you will have to study the traditions and create a script taking them into account.
A wedding with a nautical theme looks great on the seashore: pirate, fairy tale heroes (Mermaid). The gypsy version is beautiful and unusual. Weddings in a free style, for example, hippies, are also interesting.
Based on the method of organizing an outdoor wedding, it can be divided into three main types:
- Classic. Tables are set up, a presenter, artists, and musicians are invited.
- Buffet. Food is placed on tables, and guests move freely in the space. At the same time, it is important to create a relaxation area where you can sit, otherwise the participants of the celebration will get very tired after being on their feet all day.
- Picnic. Warm blankets or low seats are laid out on the lawn. Treats are placed on low tables or in baskets.
Guests should be warned about the way the event will be organized so that they can choose appropriate clothing.
Image of the bride and groom
Traditionally, the bride wears a white dress and the groom wears a light or dark classic suit. However, other style solutions are also suitable for an outdoor wedding. It could be a light dress, hippie style, themed costumes.
The main rule is that it should be comfortable to spend a long time in nature. In a fluffy dress, the bride will most likely feel uncomfortable among the forest vegetation or on the seashore.
Therefore, the style is chosen according to the venue. Since outdoor weddings are most often held in the summer, clothing should be such that it is not too hot. It is preferable for the bride to choose low-heeled shoes; they will be more comfortable to walk on soft ground.
Important! Since our wedding is being held outdoors, it is advisable to tell the guests what to wear in advance, in the invitation. Explain that it is better to come in loose-fitting clothes. Evening dresses in nature will be superfluous.
The image of the young people should be in harmony with the general environment. That is why weddings in the national style, as well as unusual variations, are often held in nature.
Lightness and simplicity
Elena and Karen
A tent on the banks of the Moscow River, an abundance of light and white, lilies of the valley and natural greenery - the style of the celebration was elegant and moderately simple. The image of the bride also corresponded to the general concept - flowing hair, flying white dress. The bright end of the wedding was fireworks over the river to the Coldplay song “A Sky Full Of Stars”.

How to have a good time
Choosing a location is just the beginning. It is necessary to pay attention to the scenario, the full organization of the celebration, so as not to forget anything. An outdoor wedding in summer is not a spontaneous event; it needs to be thought through.
- Take into account the availability of electricity and the possibility of connecting equipment. A microphone will be needed so that all guests can hear what is happening on the main stage or small podium. Good speakers for musical accompaniment. Be sure to warn the musicians and presenters about the conditions in which the celebration is taking place, since not all equipment is suitable for use in outdoor conditions.
- The number of tables is calculated according to how many guests will come. Of course, you can have a picnic right on the ground, but in this case you need to find and arrange places to sit.
- The tables are positioned so that the place of the bride and groom is clearly visible.
- Since the weather is changeable, it is worth installing a tent, which will be needed so that guests can shelter from the sun or rain. If there are many guests, then there should be several awnings or tents. You don't have to buy them, you can rent them.
- Treat the lawn against insects. They can bring a lot of unpleasant moments, so you should take care of this in advance.
- Consider a way to transport guests to the celebration site and back. Some will come in their own cars, but it is better to organize buses so that all guests can safely celebrate the celebration without worrying about the need to drive afterward.
- Agree on the time of the wedding if the wedding takes place on the territory of a park, estate or recreation center. Most likely, you will have to pay rent or part of it in advance.
- Calculate expenses. It should be taken into account that there may be unforeseen expenses, which means that you should allocate a certain amount for them.
- Buy groceries or order food from a trusted catering establishment.
Entertaining guests
The key to the successful organization of any holiday, be it a banquet for an anniversary or a wedding, is not only delicious treats, but also the good mood of satisfied guests. And so that everyone doesn’t get bored, I have collected for you the top 10 best scenarios for outdoor fun.
Games and competitions
- Prepare board games “Elias”, “Crocodile”, “Activity”, “Uno”, “Mafia”, this format of entertainment will help unite and amuse even the most serious guests.
- At a village wedding, you can organize a log sawing competition. The winners receive a wooden medal. Just don’t mention it in advance, in case one of the savvy guests brings a “Friendship” saw with them.
- Freedom in nature encourages active play. Offer to play an exciting game of “Zarnitsa”, an impromptu “Town” or bowling, come up with a quest to find a treasure trove of tasty treats.
- You can invite your guests to plant a tree to commemorate your day. And for a chintz wedding a year later, gather in the same place and look at the grown seedlings.
- When choosing a country complex, see if they have tennis tables, volleyball or football courts. If you sit too long, you can always warm up at sports competitions.
Relaxation and music at a wedding
- If there is a body of water near the place of celebration, then as a change you can go fishing, by the way, then you can cook a delicious fish soup. At tourist centers you can often rent boats and catamarans for sailing.
- Are you planning to barbecue? Why not organize a competition for the most delicious kebab. Just take care of the meat, vegetables and skewers in advance. Everyone will be treated to dishes prepared by others, and the winner can be chosen by general vote. Although, in my opinion, everyone will benefit!
- For a home-style celebration, invite your loved ones to prepare short, interesting stories from the lives of the newlyweds. An evening of memories of your acquaintance, engagement, vacation together, funny incidents will create a cozy and friendly atmosphere.
- Where would we be without music? Perhaps one of the guests plays the guitar or accordion. Or you can hand out instruments from improvised items to the guests and improvise with humorous ditties of congratulations to the newlyweds. Cheerful songs and romantic melodies will add real flavor to your wedding day.
- In the evening, in addition to dancing to your favorite music from acoustic speakers, you can build a screen from an ordinary sheet to watch a movie about your acquaintance and a romantic comedy.
An open-air cinema, soft mattresses and pillows, warm blankets just in case and a table with buffet snacks are a great idea for completing a small, cozy outdoor wedding.
Well, what do you say? Is there anything you would like to repeat at your holiday? If you share your ideas in the comments, that would be great!
Menu
This is one of the important points. Since the wedding is outdoors, the menu should consist of light snacks that will not spoil for a long time in the heat.
Interesting! We wrote more about dishes that are suitable for an outdoor wedding in this article.
Can be used:
- Meat.
- Slices.
- Fruits.
- Canapés and sandwiches.
- Shashlik.
It is better to order dishes, with the exception of barbecue, in advance in a good restaurant and bring them just before the wedding.
For barbecue, you can install a large grill so that the meat is fresh and can be cooked in the process. For cooking, it is recommended to order catering for banquets.
In this case, you will not have to personally worry about preparing dishes and setting the table.
Advice for young people
An outdoor wedding ceremony can be an excellent budget option, because you don’t have to spend money on renting a banquet hall or restaurant.
At the same time, this method carries risks and, first of all, weather conditions.
Choose places that are clean and have plenty of green grass. Even if the weather forecast promises sunshine, it's still worth taking care of your awnings.
On the second day of the wedding, guests are usually tired, so quiet entertainment is preferable. You can organize both days in nature or come out of town the next day after registration. Competitions and dancing are naturally welcome.
A wedding is one of the important days for a young family. It must be carried out brightly, beautifully and in such a way that it is remembered. Therefore, organizing a celebration in nature is one of the best options.
