How Konstantin Meladze combined his first marriage and affair with Vera Brezhneva

Childhood and youth

Valery Meladze was born on June 23, 1965 in a small village near Batumi. It’s interesting that the boy’s birth certificate included the name Valerian. This happened due to the fault of the registry office employee. She assured that this is exactly what the full name that the parents chose sounded like.

The Black Sea, warm sun and salty wind - one could only dream of such a childhood. Valery grew up as a naughty and restless child, who was much happier wandering the streets than sitting at school. The boy, together with his friends, constantly became involved in incidents, ending up in places where children were prohibited from entering: construction sites, basements, barges and ships.

One day Valery climbed onto the territory of the Batumi oil refinery. There he found a broken tractor. The boy at that time was interested in electronics and wanted to assemble an ohmmeter, so he removed a couple of parts from the tractor. But in the end he was registered with the police.

Valery Meladze and Konstantin Meladze
Parents Shota and Nelly Meladze had nothing to do with music. All my relatives worked as engineers.

In addition to the regular school, which the future singer attended without joy, he also attended a music educational institution where he studied piano. He was accompanied by his older brother Kostya, who simultaneously mastered the skill of playing the violin.

In addition to music, Meladze loved sports - at an early age he took up football and was fond of swimming. After graduating from school, he tried to get a job at a factory, but soon realized that this was not his calling. Having not entered the institute in his homeland, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his older brother and left for Ukraine, where, following Konstantin Meladze, he entered the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute.

Nikolaev is a city that played a special role in Valery’s fate. Here he met a woman who later became his wife. In addition, the guy became interested in an activity that became a profession that brought fame and financial independence.

Biography

Not everyone knows that Valery Meladze’s real name is Valerian Shotaevich Meladze. Born in Batumi on June 23, 1965, in a family of engineers. His love for music allowed him to graduate from music school, where he attended piano class. In addition to music, the singer was interested in football, swimming, and attended an aviation club. As a teenager, he became the champion of Batumi in Georgian wrestling.

Personal life

The personal life of Valery Meladze has long been connected with his wife Irina, who gave birth to the musician three daughters. The acquaintance took place in early youth, in the 3rd year of the institute. They got married while they were still students. The holiday was celebrated in Georgia with 250 guests.

A few months later, Irina gave birth to her first child. At that time, Valery was away - he was not present at the birth. The child began to have health problems from the first days. The boy lived only 10 days. Irina did not have the strength to bury her son herself. Valery did it. The wound from the loss of their first child remained with the couple for life.

Nevertheless, children's laughter soon began to sound in the Meladze family: in 1991, their daughter Inga was born. Later, two other heiresses were born, Sophia and Arina.

In the early 2000s, the previously happy union began to crack, and in 2009, Irina and Valery decided to divorce.

Valery Meladze and his parents
The reason for the divorce is banal - Meladze had an affair with the ex-soloist of the group “VIA Gra” Albina Dzhanabaeva. For 8 long years, the couple did not dare to put an end to the relationship - they protected the feelings of their daughters. Despite this, Valery already spent most of his time with his second family. Immediately after the divorce proceedings with Irina in 2014, Valery married Albina.

In 2004, Dzhanabaeva gave the singer a son, Konstantin. Close people from the circle of the star couple claim that the relationship between Valery and Albina is far from ideal; rumors periodically appear that the couple has separated. What exactly is meant by “non-ideality” is unclear. In 2014, Albina gave birth to the musician’s fifth child, son Luka. And in March 2021, it became known that Dzhanabaeva was pregnant for the third time. In early April, their daughter was born in an elite Moscow clinic.

Albina and Valery are considered one of the most private couples in Russian show business. They rarely appear at events together. Perhaps this is due to the fact that not everyone approved of his betrayal of his wife Irina Meladze and the birth of an illegitimate son.

One way or another, in 2011 an unpleasant incident occurred related to photography. A Komsomolskaya Pravda photojournalist tried to photograph the artist and Dzhanabaeva leaving the restaurant, to which Meladze reacted aggressively. The man chased the photographer, while she fell, and wanted to take the camera away. A criminal case was opened against Valery, which was subsequently dismissed by the magistrate.

Artists don’t like to talk too much about their family, but sometimes in interviews they still lift the veil of secrecy. So, Meladze also spoke about Luka. According to the musician, the boy is already developing a strong character, as the baby confidently overcomes difficulties and problems. According to the performer, if the son falls, he never cries.

According to the celebrity, so far none of the sons has shown creativity. Perhaps Luka is simply too young, but the elder Kostya is clearly inclined towards the exact sciences. Valery assumes that in the future he will become an inventor or engineer.

The artist admitted that he is sometimes a strict father. At certain moments, Meladze talks to children as equals, conveying to them information that he considers important and useful. At the same time, the singer admitted that he tries to be kind and attentive.

Now the singer is actively performing, his tours are scheduled for six months in advance.

The beginning of a creative career

Valery and Konstantin Meladze began their musical careers in the amateur performances of the institute. This is how they became part of the April ensemble. A few months later, it was difficult to imagine a group without the Meladze brothers, and the team’s popularity soon spread beyond the boundaries of both the university and the city.

In 1989, the talented brothers were invited to the Dialogue group. The band's leader, Kim Breitburg, noted that Valery's voice is similar to the voice of John Anderson from the group Yes. Two albums were released along with Dialogue.

And in 1993, at the Roksolana festival in Kyiv, Meladze’s solo debut took place. Valery’s first hit was the song “Don’t disturb my soul, violin.” The composer and author of the lyrics of the romance was his brother Konstantin. After the premiere of the video for this composition in the cult program “Morning Mail,” the singer woke up famous.

Valery Meladze in his youth and now
In 1995, Meladze’s first album “Sera” was released, which immediately became one of the best-selling in the country. And most of the songs, including such as “Limbo”, “Midsummer”, “The Night Before Christmas”, were called hits by the public. This has never happened before in Russian popular music. Subsequently, the compositions “Samba of the White Moth” and “Beautiful” only consolidated the performer’s success.

By the end of the 90s, Valery gained fame as a popular performer in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Meladze became a singer who filled the hall at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex for several days in a row.

Career continuation

Performance by singer Valery Meladze

Meladze's further career was filled with duets with many pop stars. Listeners remembered the lyrical composition “Turn Around,” performed together with Grigory Leps. In 2010, the song “Heaven” was released, and in 2011 the artist performed at Crocus City Hall in Moscow with a solo concert of the same name. Later he began hosting the TV show “Battle of the Choirs.”

Then the audience saw the video “Love and the Milky Way,” where famous Russian actors starred. For his fiftieth anniversary, Velvet Music presented the singer with a disc with his compositions, which were covered by other artists. On the same day, the brothers delighted fans with a concert called “Polsta”. He was visited by Grigory Leps, Dima Bilan, Valeria, Vera Brezhneva and other celebrities. Konstantin and Valery sang the song “My Brother,” for which they later shot a video clip.

But they were unable to collect all the music at one concert - the repertoire was too large. The brothers chose those songs that can awaken real emotions in the hearts of listeners. Although Valery has an unusual timbre, many accuse him of performing to a soundtrack.

The singer has been awarded many times: his collection includes the Golden Gramophone, Muz-TV, Song of the Year, and Ovation awards. In 2006, he received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, and two years later - People's Artist of the Chechen Republic.

Solo career and VIA Gra

In the early 2000s, Valery Meladze’s creative career was associated with the creation of the VIA Gra group, which, as soon as it appeared on the air, immediately won the hearts of millions of listeners and won regular fans. Then the singer, together with the soloists of the group, recorded 2 songs - “Ocean and Three Rivers” and “There is No More Gravity.” These compositions instantly broke through to the first positions of the charts.

In 2002, as part of the support of the album “The Real,” Meladze gave a performance in the concert hall of the Kremlin Palace. The performer also participated in the New Year’s television projects directed by Dzhanik Fayziev, “Old songs about the main thing.”

The singer’s discography also includes other full-length albums, the fate of which is no different from the results of the first disc entitled “Sera”. All records sold in huge quantities. Among the artist’s first works are “The Last Romantic” and “That’s How It Was.” The latter included such hits as “Dream”, “Show Business”, “Dunno on the Moon”.

Valery regularly appears on television, not only at concerts, but also in musical films (“Sorochinskaya Fair”, “Cinderella”), most often timed to coincide with the New Year, which indicates Meladze’s unfading popularity among music fans.

In the creative biography of the celebrity, 2003 became a landmark year. 4 records were reissued. In December, a new disc by the artist called “Nega” appeared.

In 2008, the Meladze brothers delighted their Ukrainian fans. A creative evening of Konstantin Meladze took place in the capital of Ukraine. The composer's songs were performed by Alla Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Kristina Orbakaite, Ani Lorak, as well as graduates of Star Factory 7. Valery Meladze also acted as the host of the evening.

In addition, at the same time, the singer released another album called “In Contrary”, the main song of which was the composition “Salute, Vera”.

In 2010, fans especially remembered Valery’s video for the song “Turn Around.” The singer performed this composition together with Grigory Leps. The same year the hit “Heaven” was released. Videos for these tracks later appeared on the musician’s official website.

Already in October 2011, the singer performed at the Moscow concert hall Crocus City Hall. A solo concert called “Heaven” took place at the new venue. Later, musician Vakhtang sang a duet with Valery Meladze, the song was called “The Light of the Setting Sun.” Elizaveta Boyarskaya starred in the video for this hit.

In 2015, another notable video appeared called “Love and the Milky Way.” Sergei Bezrukov and Marina Alexandrova, prominent representatives of Russian cinema, took part in the filming of the video. The song became the soundtrack to the film "Milky Way". Meladze had previously participated in the creation of artistic paintings. Songs performed by him can be heard in such films as “Inhabited Island”, “Women’s Happiness”, “First at Home”, “Admiral” and others.

Also in 2015, on the occasion of Valery Meladze’s 50th birthday, the Velvet Music production center presented the artist with an album with his songs covered by other Russian pop stars.

At the same time, the anniversary evening of Valery and Konstantin Meladze “Polsta” took place. Prominent representatives of Russian show business Dima Bilan, Vera Brezhneva, Valeria and Grigory Leps came to sing with their brothers. In turn, Valery and Konstantin Meladze jointly performed the song “My Brother”.

The event was dedicated to several significant dates in the artist’s career - his 50th anniversary, the 20th anniversary of the release of the album “Sera” and the 30th anniversary of the start of his creative activity. Subsequent concerts during the performer's tour took place in front of full houses.

The following year, a video version of this concert was released on the Velvet Music YouTube channel.

It is simply impossible to collect all the music of Valery and Konstantin in one performance. Talented brothers do not set themselves such a task.

According to the artists, the joint performance is not a summing up or a milestone of activity, but “a way to show the facets of creativity on one stage in order to give the audience music in a concentrated form.”

The Meladze brothers have always tried to present those compositions that resonate in the hearts of fans with close and dear motives that awaken feelings.

At the same time, critics argue that the performer often performs to a soundtrack. In September 2021, a video from the closing of the New Wave festival in Sochi appeared on the Internet. Users who watched the video said that Valery was not included in the soundtrack because he was late in performing his part of the song. Meladze was supposed to take over third after Igor Krutoy and Nikolai Baskov.

The incident was noticed by the initiators of the “Silver Galosh” award for dubious achievements in art. Later, the organizers of the event stated that this happened solely for technical reasons, and the video was not planned to be aired at all.

Various misunderstandings rarely happen in an artist’s work, and this is not a reason to give up. As before, Valery creates, records new hits and videos. In 2016–2018, the songs “It’s Easy to Say Goodbye,” “Freedom or Sweet Captivity,” and “Mom, Don’t Cry!” appeared in his repertoire. The artist recorded the last composition together with the musicians of the MBAND group.

At the end of 2021, Valery and Albina recorded the hit “Megacities”. This is the couple’s first joint duet, so the release of the song became a real event in the creative life of the artists. The couple presented the musical composition on the air of the “Evening Urgant” program. The song was included in the artist’s new EP along with two more hits - “How many years” (feat. Mot) and “What do you want from me?”

Valery Meladze is a multiple winner of the Golden Gramophone, Song of the Year, Ovation and Muz-TV music awards. In 2006 he was awarded the title “Honored Artist of the Russian Federation”, and in 2008 - “People’s Artist of the Chechen Republic”.

Meladze Brothers: “Halfway”

A recording of the anniversary evening of Valery and Konstantin appeared on television. The Meladze brothers' concert "Polsta" is a celebration of the 50th anniversary, which means several significant dates at once: in 2015 Valery celebrated his 50th birthday, and another 20 years have flown by since the release of the album "Sera", which brought Valery fame and popularity, 30 years have passed since the moment the brothers decided to devote themselves to music. Many stars took part in the anniversary concert, including Dima Bilan, Vera Brezhneva, Grigory Leps, Valeria and others.

Meladze brothers and their personal life

The concert took place in December 2021. Anyone could attend, but places were limited, so tickets had to be purchased in advance.

The wives of the Meladze brothers were with them at the beginning of their creative journey, but then each of the brothers linked their fate with someone from VIA Gra. You shouldn’t judge too harshly, because these were not affairs, but legal relationships in which the couple found happiness. The Meladze brothers and their personal life are a separate and very personal topic, so let’s not once again stir up the past: what happened, happened. In order to discuss such topics, it is necessary to go through a person’s life path - this is the only way to gain the right to judge him. The Meladze brothers, whose biography is full of bright and fateful moments, were always together and supported each other. Perhaps it was this brotherly love that helped them survive in the world of show business, and not only survive, but also create their own small empire.

Projects and shows

Since 2005, Valery Meladze has been a permanent member of the jury of the New Wave music competition, and in 2007, together with his brother, he became the music producer of the Star Factory project.

Since 2012, Valery hosted the show “Battle of the Choirs” for two years. His co-hosts in the 1st season were Ekaterina Varnava and Natalya Stefanenko, and in the second - again Natalya Stefanenko and rapper Potap.

In February 2017, Valery Meladze became a mentor in the “Voice” project. Children". His colleagues were Nyusha and Dima Bilan. In the 4th season of the show, the singer helped highlight the “best of the best” and select worthy finalists who are capable of winning in a large-scale music show.

The Meladze brothers have always walked hand in hand, but everyone’s creative path is different. Valery's first solo performance took place in 1992 at the Starry Evening concert. From the very beginning of his career until today, Konstantin has been the author of Valery’s songs, lyrics and arrangements. After performing at the Roksolana concert, Evgeniy Fridlyand (1993) enters into a contract with Valery. The following year, a second album entitled “The Last Romantic” appears on store shelves, and six months later the singer gives two concerts at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex. In 1998, Valery was supposed to perform at Eurovision, but he fell ill, and Alla Borisovna performed in his place with her song “Primadonna”. In 2003, the singer’s fifth solo album was released, the creation of which took 3 long years of creative search.

After graduating from high school, following his brother, he entered the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov. After graduating from university, he had the prospect of becoming a mechanical engineer or scientist. But fate decreed otherwise. As a second-year student, Valery attended a rehearsal of the university ensemble “April” and within six months became a soloist of the group.

In 1989, the talented brothers Valery and Konstantin were invited to the Dialogue group, performing art-rock music. Kim Breitburg, the team leader, decided that Valery's voice was unusually similar to the voice of Jon Anderson from the group Yes. Two years later, the group’s first album, “In the Middle of the World,” was released.

In 1993, Meladze’s solo debut took place at the Roksolana flower festival in Kyiv. Valery’s first hit was the lyrical composition “Don’t disturb my soul, violin,” thanks to which the singer was called “Discovery of 1994,” and at the end of the year Alla Pugacheva invited the vocalist to take part in her “Christmas meetings.”

The album “Sera” immediately became a bestseller at the beginning of 1995, and the song of the same name topped all the charts. The success was also facilitated by five video clips shot for the songs “Don’t disturb my soul, violin,” “Sera,” “Limbo,” “Middle of Summer” and “The Night Before Christmas.”

In October 1996, Valery Meladze’s second album, “The Last Romantic,” was released. The huge resonance from the new disc allowed the author to gather a full house at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex twice in March 1997. After such performances, he received absolute recognition from his colleagues.

The next album, “Samba of the White Moth,” appeared in January 1998, and a year later the disc “That’s How It Was” was released. In March 2002, in support of the album “The Real,” the artist gave a grand solo performance in the concert hall of the Kremlin Palace.

A real revelation for fans was the joint project of Valery Meladze and his brother’s wards, girls from the group “VIA Gra”. As soon as they appeared on radio stations, the songs “Ocean and Three Rivers” and “There is No More Gravity” won the hearts of millions of listeners, and colorful videos took first place on television music charts for a long time.

In 2005, Valery tried himself as the host of the “Country of Soviets” program on the NTV channel. In the same year, he participated in the “Secret of Success” music project as a mentor.

In October 2006, Valery Meladze was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.”

On the eve of his 55th birthday, the singer presented a new hit, “I See the Sun.” And at the end of 2021 he presented the video “Time's Up.” Fans spoke enthusiastically about this work.

In addition to music, Valery Meladze is involved in public activities and is a member of the commission on public control, openness of government and anti-corruption in the Public Chamber of the Krasnogorsk urban district.

The personal life of Valery Meladze has long been connected with his wife Irina, who gave birth to the musician three daughters. The acquaintance took place in early youth, in the 3rd year of the institute. They got married while they were still students.

Soon Irina gave birth to her first child, but the child began to have health problems from the first days, the boy lived only 10 days. The young parents were grieving the loss. Nevertheless, children's laughter soon began to sound in the Meladze family: in 1991, their daughter Inga was born. Later, two more heiresses were born, Sophia and Arina.

In the early 2000s, the previously happy union began to crack, and in 2009 the couple decided to divorce. The reason for the divorce is banal - Meladze had an affair with the ex-soloist of the group “VIA Gra” Albina Dzhanabaeva, with whom he married in 2014.

Dzhanabaeva gave birth to her first son, who was named Konstantin, Valeria, in 2004, when he was married to Irina. In 2014, Albina gave birth to a son, Luka. In April 2021, a daughter was born into the family, who became the sixth child of Valery Meladze.

The artist leads a healthy lifestyle, thanks to which he is in good shape - with a height of 183 cm, his weight is about 90 kg.
