Childhood and youth
The pop star was born under the zodiac sign Virgo on August 29, 1958 in the village of Moskvorechye. Interestingly, Michael Jackson was born on the same day.
By the standards of those times, the Zarubin family lived well - they had jewelry, a car and a garage. When Olga was one year old, the head of the family committed suicide. Throughout her life, the girl blamed her mother for her father’s death. She suspected that, being a married woman, Lyudmila Bronislavovna started a relationship on the side and met her second husband long before Vladimir’s death.
The stepfather is a rude, oppressive man who suppressed Zarubina both morally and physically. The man raised his hand against his wife, Olya, and the singer’s older brother Sasha. After the birth of her half-sister Tatyana, there was a catastrophic lack of money, and Lyudmila began working double shifts at a chemical plant to feed her family. And the stepfather, who worked as a watchman for three days, continued to turn the children’s lives into hell.

Olga Zarubina in her youth
The artist’s older brother fell ill with a severe form of tonsillitis at the age of 18. Complications in the form of a three-valve heart defect put an end to the young guy and put the young man in a hospital bed. Alexander fought the disease as best he could, clinging to life until the last, but, like his father, he died at the age of 35 (in 1983).
It is reliably known that Olga gravitated towards singing from a very young age. Her debut as a singer took place in the Pioneer camp named after. V.I. Lenin. True, as the artist recalls, the performance was a failure because she forgot the words.
At the age of 10, having seen a pianist playing on TV, Olga became interested in playing the piano and went to music school, where she studied for 7 years. Not a single school event was complete without the participation of a talented girl.
Despite her obvious passion for music, after graduating from school, Zarubina did not at all plan to connect her life with the stage. In 1975, she entered Moscow Medical School No. 37 (now Medical College No. 5). In her youth, the girl passed her internship at the Institute of Neurosurgery and received the profession of nurse.
Medical education
In 1975, at the insistence of her mother, who dreamed of a medical career for her daughter, Olga entered the Moscow Medical School. But Olga herself dreamed of music; she successfully graduated from music school. The girl already had experience performing on stage, she really liked to sing, she was good at it. But she succumbed to the persuasion of her mother and stepfather, with whom she had a very difficult relationship, and studied to be a nurse.
While studying at medical school, Olga met Sergei Korzhukov, who later became the lead singer of the Lesopoval group. Together with him they participated in all musical events organized by the school students. They even created a student ensemble, in which they performed.
At one of the competitions of creative teams of medical educational institutions, their ensemble was among the winners. Olga and Sergei were invited by Alexander Zaborsky to the VIA “Postal Stagecoach”.
The biography of Olga Zarubina indicates that there were several such fateful meetings in her life.
Personal life
Olga Zarubina was married three times. The first husband was performer Alexander Malinin. The girl met Vyguzov (the singer’s real name) as part of the Metronome ensemble. At that time, the guy was married and had a small son, Nikita.
Sasha’s persistent courtship bore fruit, and in the end Olga reciprocated the young man’s feelings. Later, rumors appeared that Zarubina “stole” Malinin from the first family, but the singer refutes these speculations. At the time of their acquaintance, the artist hid his marital status from her.
In 1983, the young people got married, and in 1985 their daughter Kira was born. She was a sickly child and at the age of 4 months she underwent complex heart surgery. Alexander, who by this time was performing in Stas Namin’s group “Flowers,” stopped all communication with his wife and daughter. In 1988, the couple filed for divorce.

The singer’s second husband, Vladimir Evdokimov, was her art director, and then became the man on whom Zarubina could rely. It was he who took on the role of head of the family.
After moving to the USA, the woman worked as a medical translator, and Evdokimov did everything possible so that their family did not need anything. In 2008, Zarubina’s husband died of stomach cancer, and Olga returned to Russia.
In 2010, the singer married for the third time. Andrey Salov, an administrator who once worked with the group “Tender May” and Alexander Buinov, is 13 years younger than Olga, but the age difference did not bother the couple. This union turned out to be short-lived: in 2015, Zarubina and Salov broke up.
After a series of failed romances, at the beginning of 2021, Zarubina announced that she was in love with her peer. Her chosen one is a foreign entrepreneur whom the woman met on social networks. After several months of dating, the couple began to prepare for the wedding.
Notoriety
Unfortunately, recently the name of a formerly famous singer is increasingly associated with scandals in which she actively takes part.
At first, relatives accused the singer of being a bad mother for her daughter; she denied these accusations.
Then Olga Vladimirovna brought similar accusations against her first husband, and besides, she needed to prove the paternity of Alexander Malinin. Olga sought for her daughter to become the legal heir of her father. But even after the public recognition, the relationship between Alexander Malinin and Kira did not improve.
All this happened on the TV screen, in front of millions of viewers.
Music
While studying at a medical school, Olga, as part of a student ensemble, was a regular not only at recreational evenings, but also at various music competitions. Petite Zarubina (height 160 cm, weight 50 kg) won the favor of the public thanks to her clear and strong voice.
The famous chansonnier Alexander Zaborsky noticed a promising girl at one of these events. Together with her friend and comrade Sergei Korzhukov (future lead singer of the Lesopoval group), she often performed a song from the movie “Romance of Lovers.” This hit became a ticket to Zaborsky’s group “Mail Stagecoach” (at the Moscow Main Post Office).
The first meeting with composer Vyacheslav Dobrynin took place in 1977 at the same main post office. Dobrynin, fascinated by Olga’s vocal abilities, invited the popular VIA ensemble “Leisya, Song” (directed by Mikhail Shufutinsky) to listen to the young singer. The team approved the red-haired beauty for the role of backing vocalist. Together they recorded the track “You’ll see.”

Olga Zarubina and Elena Vorobey
From the star’s biography it is known that Olga Zarubina’s first appearance on television occurred in 1977 in the television program “Sing, Friends!” with "Song about the Captain".
In the same year, at the competition of young performers in the Palace of Culture. Gorbunov’s attention was drawn to the young artist by composer David Tukhmanov, who was sitting on the jury. The man wrote down Olga’s last name in a notebook and promised to write a hit song for her soon.
Tukhmanov’s song “It Shouldn’t Be Like This” had the effect of a “bomb exploding” and brought Olga all-Union fame. The country heard it for the first time on the air of the New Year's “Blue Light” on January 1, 1979. The composition was performed in a duet with the future master of the national stage, Mikhail Boyarsky. A number was also filmed for the Song of the Year festival (however, it was later cut from television). Later, the artists repeated the duet, performing the song “Sky of Childhood” in 1986, for which a video was released.
At the end of 1977, under the patronage of Tukhmanov, Olga joined the VIA “Music” (artistic director - Nikolai Vorobyov). As part of the ensemble, the girl not only recorded a number of songs (“Spring Insomnia,” “I’ll Come to You,” “Not Always,” “Not Handsome”), but also performed the main female role in Andrei Bogoslovsky’s rock opera “Scarlet Sails.”

After this, the singer began to be often invited to radio and television. In the programs “Morning Mail” and “Wider Circle”, compositions from her repertoire “You have arrived” and “Odolen-grass” were regularly played, and famous composers began to write music especially for Olga. So, Mikhail Tanich gave her the hit “The Bridge is Rocking,” which is still relevant today, and Boris Emelyanov composed “Mother’s Wing.”
In 1979, for the film “Summer Tour,” Zarubina sang the songs “My Joy” and “Take Me with You.”
In 1980, due to the false accusation of Nikolai Vorobyov that he stole and sold the group’s musical instruments, VIA “Music” disbanded. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the director from Mosconcert, Mikhail Ilyich Yakon, created the Metronome ensemble and took part of the composition from VIA Music into his project. But Zarubina, who decided to start a solo career, did not stay there for long.

In 1985, her solo EP “Doll” was released. The greatest success for the talented singer came in the late 1980s, when Olga twice reached the finals of the television festival “Song of the Year” (in 1987 - with the popular track “Music is Playing on the Ship”, in 1989 - with “Razgulay”) .
In 1988, the film “Primorsky Boulevard” was shown on the screens, in which Olga Zarubina sang two songs, one of them (“Why aren’t we together?”) in a duet with singer Evgeny Golovin.
These years in the singer's career were marked by a short creative break. After the birth of her daughter, Olga was forced to stop performing concerts. The woman went to work in the restaurant of the Cosmos Hotel. Only after meeting Vladimir Evdokimov did she return to the stage.

Olga's singing career collapsed at one point. In 1991, during concerts in Cheboksary, due to illness, she had to perform to a soundtrack (which the singer, according to her colleagues, had never done before). During the performance, the sound disappeared, and a couple of days later these shots were shown in the television program “Spotlight of Perestroika.” The disgruntled artist and her family moved to the USA. In America, Olga recorded two albums, but only one was released.
In 2007, at the invitation of the NTV channel, Zarubina returned to Russia to participate in the “You are a superstar!” program. From that moment on, her work resumed in her homeland. The artist’s first concerts took place as part of the “Legends of Retro FM” music festival.
In 2012, a new disc “Not By Chance” was released, which included both fresh compositions (“The Lady from Rublyovka”, “Not By Chance”) and hits recorded in new arrangements (“Razluchnitsa-separation”, “Motor Ship”, “Sky” childhood", "Spell words"). A year later, the artist pleased her fans with a collection of hits “Quiet Tenderness.”
Carier start
From the biography of singer Olga Zarubina, you can find out that her musical career began with her meeting with David Tukhmanov, who was on the jury of one of the competitions for young performers at which the singer performed. The young performer's voice captivated the composer, and he decided to write a song for her.
Soon Olga Zarubina sang the song “It Shouldn’t Be This Way” together with Mikhail Boyarsky. The future hit was written by David Tukhmanov and Leonid Derbenev. The song was first performed at the New Year's “Blue Light” in 1979, and, as they say, the singer woke up famous.
David Tukhmanov recommended the young singer to VIA Music. This was an important stage in the creative biography of Olga Zarubina.
Scandals and TV shows
Since 2010, Zarubina began to be invited to popular television shows. The woman honestly and openly shared with the public the details of her personal life.
For several years, the Soviet pop star appeared in the “Let Them Talk” project, and in the “Live Broadcast” program, and even in “Private History” on the “Trust” TV channel. Later, the release of “The Fate of Man” was added to the list of television programs. In 2016, Olga starred in “Fashionable Verdict.”
Since returning to Russia, Zarubina did not immediately manage to earn money for a decent existence, so for a long time she huddled in a small apartment located on the outskirts of Moscow. In 2021, thanks to participation in the “Ideal Renovation” program, the singer managed to update the interior of her home.
The artist’s fame was enhanced by her participation in programs dedicated to her daughter Kira Malinina, who has been trying to improve relations with her own father for several years. Olga supported her daughter back in 2010, when the girl’s first meeting with Alexander Nikolaevich took place on the talk show “Let Them Talk.” The performer's wife Emma Malinina was also in the studio.

However, after the broadcast, the singer did not want to communicate with Kira. Zarubina tried to prove the relationship in court, where she also filed a claim against the artist for non-payment of alimony for her daughter.
In 2021, a scandal related to the singer’s personal life erupted again. On the air of the program “Actually,” she met the wife of the young dancer Nikolai Kakunin, with whom, according to Olga, she had a great affair. Zarubina tried to bribe a young woman to leave her husband. The celebrity assured that, despite the age difference, the couple planned to legalize the relationship.
A young man who appeared in the studio said that there was no romantic relationship between him and the singer. Lawyer Alexandra Malinina added fuel to the fire, saying that Nikolai planned to give her dirt on Olga. This information would help her client prove that Zarubina cheated on Alexander Malinin during their marriage. The information horrified the performer: she burst into tears in front of the cameras.
2021 marks the start of Olga Zarubina’s shooting in the popular TV project of the NTV channel “Secret for a Million”.
Children
Olga Zarubina has one daughter, Kira. The girl studies in the USA. It is known that she, like her mother, performs in nightclubs as a singer.
At the end of 2021, there was a scandal involving Olga and her daughter. Relatives of the popular artist said that she treated Kira poorly and almost drove the girl to suicide. On the air of the program “Actually,” they accused Zarubina of abandoning her daughter and giving her to strangers to raise at the age of ten. The girl wandered around dens and took drugs.
Olga Zarubina denied the charges brought against her. As of today, the singer has suspended her concert activities. For now, fans can only look through old recordings on the Internet and hope for the next return of their favorite artist to the stage.
Olga Zarubina now
Now Zarubina is building a career in Moscow. She continues to participate in concerts dedicated to the stars of the 80s and 90s. In March 2020, Malinin’s ex-wife and her daughter Kira became the heroines of the next episode of the “Actually” program. The talk show discussed the singer’s daughter’s secret affair with her boyfriend, dancer Nikolai Kakunin. After the broadcast, the artist fainted from psychological stress.
Olga shares all the news from her life with fans through her Instagram account. Zarubina also has an official website with rare recordings and photos from various years.
Decline of a career
But, unfortunately, such a wonderful career collapsed overnight. In 1991, Olga Vladimirovna was on tour in Cheboksary. Before the performance, the singer fell ill, but in order not to upset her fans and not cancel the concert, she decided to perform with a soundtrack. But due to bad weather and rain, the phonogram failed the singer: the sound disappeared.
The performance was filmed, and someone transmitted this footage to the program “Spotlight of Perestroika.” The persecution of the singer began; at that time, performing to a soundtrack was considered to be deceiving the public.
There has been a new turn in the biography of Olga Zarubina and her family: forced emigration to the USA.
