Childhood

In 1930, 18-year-old native of a Scottish village, Mary MacLeod, came to New York on vacation.
There, fate brought her together with 25-year-old Fred Trump, the son of German immigrants, who at such a young age already owned his own construction company. 560″ height=”431″[/img] Donald Trump in childhood and now

In 1936 the couple got married; the couple bought a cottage in a respectable area of Queens, the father of the family continued to engage in the construction business, and Mary devoted herself entirely to motherhood. Donald Trump was the fourth child in the family, but, having inherited his father’s tough and assertive character, he was not going to get used to the role of his younger brother. Neither his parents nor his school teachers could cope with the obnoxious Donald, so at the age of 13 the boy was faced with a fact: he was going to the New York Military Academy.

As a cadet, Trump proved himself to be a disciplined student who boasted good grades, social skills, and athletic success. The parents could not be happier with their son, who had suddenly come to his senses, and even began to set him up as an example to the other children.

Donald Trump Family

Donald Trump's family was not connected with politics, and the president himself tried not to get involved in it until the very end. The father was a simple builder when in 1930 he met his future wife, Trump’s mother. The year 1936 was marked by their wedding. By the way, the mother was born in Scotland, and she met her future husband at a holiday in New York, where she went in honor of the holidays.

My father’s parents immigrated from Germany to the United States, where after some time they received citizenship and got married. As previously mentioned, the Trump family had five children, including the future president of America.

First steps on the path to success

In 1964, Trump graduated from the military academy with flying colors and entered Fordham University. After studying there for 4 semesters, he transferred to the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1968, he received a bachelor's degree in economics, after which his father accepted his son into the family business. Donald became seriously interested in real estate, hoping in the future to become the heir to the Trump construction empire and multiply his father's fortune many times over.

The first project entrusted to Donald was the grandiose residential complex Swifton Village in Ohio, designed for 1,200 apartments for the “middle class”. Under the leadership of the younger Trump, the company managed to complete the project within a year, spending $6 million on construction and earning $12 million from the sale of apartments.

Double income is a more than excellent start to a career, but Trump was not going to stop there. The construction of apartments in Ohio was sponsored by the state, but Donald understood that for financial support for more serious projects it was worth turning not to government organizations, but to the powers that be: bankers, top managers, oil tycoons. In 1971, Donald rented an apartment in the heart of New York - on the island of Manhattan. Here his circle of acquaintances quickly expanded with influential people.

Donald began an affair with wealthy businesswoman Selina Midelfart after his second divorce. The relationship between the billionaire and the blonde was heading towards marriage, but a fatal incident changed everything. At one of the parties where the star couple came, Trump met Melania.

After that, the man did not look at any woman; he no longer doubted that she would become his wife.

The rise of an empire

In 1974, Trump, with the help of new connections, won a tender to restore the dilapidated Commodore Hotel. Since many of the buildings near the hotel were also in poor condition and needed a financial injection, as did the city itself, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, Donald managed to obtain tax breaks from the mayor's office for a period of 40 years. Moreover, the largest banks in New York provided him with a mortgage loan totaling $70 million. There was only one condition: Trump had to put the area in order.

Donald's firm got down to business, and six years later, Manhattan residents were able to see the 25-story monolith of glass and steel that had replaced the dull yellow building, surrounded by new, functional and livable neighborhoods. Much later, in October 1996, half of the rights to the hotel were bought by one of the largest hotel chains, Hyatt, increasing Trump's fortune by $142 million.

In 1979, Donald had his eye on a piece of land on 5th Avenue, across from the Tiffany & Co jewelry store. When the businessman was asked what made him buy this particular place, he replied: “The wealthiest people in New York always hang out at Tiffany’s stores.” By 1983, the 58-story Trump Tower skyscraper had risen on this site, surpassing all city buildings in height.

The house instantly gained fame as an elite complex: the windows of the apartments overlooked Central Park, a series of boutiques and restaurants were located below, the floor was tiled with pink marble, and a three-meter fountain was in the hall. All the apartments were bought up within a few months, and Trump became $200 million richer.

When gambling was legalized in New Jersey in 1977, Trump realized that he had a tasty morsel that should not be missed. In 1980, he purchased a plot of land in Atlantic City, entrusting his brother Robert with obtaining a gambling license. In 1982, the grandiose Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino hotel and entertainment complex worth $250 million was opened. In 1986, Donald bought the city's Hilton hotel and built the $320 million Trump's Castle in its place. At the same time, he began construction of the largest hotel-casino in the world, the Taj Mahal, which opened its doors to visitors in 1990.

Donald Trump's children

Donald Trump's children number five, the oldest of whom is already 40 years old, and the youngest son is 11. The current president of America has children from all three marriages.
From the first he has three children - 2 boys and a girl, from the second he has a daughter. Donald's third and final marriage brought him a boy, who was named Barron. By the way, it is worth noting that Donald Trump currently has 8 grandchildren, the eldest of whom is 10 years old, and the youngest was born last year - in 2021.

On the verge of bankruptcy

By the early 90s, Donald's fortune was estimated at $1 billion. In addition to a chain of hotels, casinos and luxury residential skyscrapers, the Trump empire included the Trump Shuttle Airline, the New Jersey Generals football team and a huge number of small businesses that Donald himself lost count of. Gradually, he began to lose control over the business that had grown to incredible proportions.

New projects were financed with borrowed funds, which was quite risky. Trump's creditors included large banks and investment companies: Citicorp, Merrill Lynch, Chase Manhattan. The businessman’s debts were growing rapidly, and the threat of bankruptcy was aggravated by the brewing crisis in the real estate sector. In the early 90s, debts to creditors reached $9.8 billion, of which Trump had to pay $900 million out of his own pocket. On the verge of bankruptcy, the businessman was forced to mortgage the Trump Tower skyscraper. The press added fuel to the fire, criticizing Donald's every move.

Thanks to his innate perseverance, Donald managed to get out of the debt hole. Gambling revenues covered most of the debt; by 1997, the tycoon had completely repaid his debts and began working on new projects. In 2001, Trump's company, together with the Korean enterprise Daewoo, completed the construction of the 72-story Trump World Tower. The 262-meter skyscraper has risen exactly opposite the UN headquarters in Manhattan.

The 2008 financial crisis was a new shock to Trump's construction empire. Due to falling sales, he was unable to repay the 40 million loan on time. Although the billionaire could easily pay off the debt with his own funds, he filed for bankruptcy, claiming that the crisis was force majeure. On February 17, 2009, Trump announced his decision to leave the Board of Directors of his own company.

Donald Trump: biography, personal life and the creation of his own empire

The father of the future tycoon, Fred Trump, came from a family of German emigrants. Already at the age of 25, he managed to create his own construction company, which was one of the most successful in New York. Fred met his future wife in 1930. Scot Mary MacLeod was only 18 years old when she came to New York on vacation and met her future husband for the first time. The couple got married six years after they met.

Donald was the fourth child of Fred and Mary. With his angelic appearance, the boy caused a lot of trouble for his family and those around him. Neither parents nor school teachers could cope with him.

Having tried all methods of influencing the mischievous boy, the parents sent the 13-year-old teenager to a military academy.

Army discipline transformed the unruly Donald. The guy came to his senses, and soon the Trumps set their son as an example to the rest of their children.

After graduating from the military academy, Donald Trump decides to continue the family dynasty and devote himself to the construction business. The young man receives a bachelor's degree in economics, and Fred entrusts his son with the first project.

The construction of a residential complex in Ohio turned out to be a good start for the young Trump - he managed to double the company's income, making a net profit of $6 million.

Perhaps the most significant year for Trump was 1974. The businessman managed to buy out the Commodore Hotel and build a modern hotel complex in its place. A few years later, the whole of Manhattan was transformed thanks to the efforts of Donald Trump.

By the early 90s, Trump managed to increase his fortune to $1 billion. The businessman’s list of assets includes a chain of hotels, casinos, residential skyscrapers, a football company, his own airline, and the Miss Universe and Miss America beauty contests. In addition to large projects, Trump owned a huge number of small firms. At some point, the billionaire began to lose control over the business and his empire gradually found itself on the verge of bankruptcy.

Trump's natural tenacity, combined with the work of experienced financiers, saved the business. The next economic crisis of 2008 pushed Donald Trump to an unexpected decision - the businessman left the Board of Directors of his own company.

During the same period, Donald Trump’s book “Trump Never Gives Up” was published. How I turned my biggest problems into success,” on the pages of which the billionaire reveals his main business secrets. According to Trump, the fundamentals to success in business are a positive attitude, bold decisions and perseverance.

Television appearances

In 2002, Trump launched the prime-time reality show The Apprentice. Participants had to compete among themselves for the right to become a top manager in Trump's company. Unlucky contestants were greeted with the businessman's signature phrase: “You're fired!” (in 2004 he even applied to register the trademark “You are fired!”). For each episode of the first season, Donald received about $50 thousand, but with the start of the second season, the cost of one episode increased to $3 million - so Trump became one of the highest paid presenters on television.

Every Thursday on NBC the legendary “You're fired!” sounded.

In October of the same year, Donald was invited to Larry King's studio, where he sharply spoke about the foreign policy of George W. Bush and the appearance of Angelina Jolie. Many people remember other words uttered on the evening broadcast: then Trump said that in the next elections he would certainly support Rudolph Giuliani and Hillary Clinton if they nominated themselves for the presidency. Political career. Most Influential Republican

Trump had been tipped for the US presidency since the 80s, but at that time the needle of Donald’s political compass was constantly darting between the right and left poles. By 2009, he had more or less decided on his own views and joined the Republican Party. They tried to nominate Donald, an outstanding economist and manager, to participate in the presidential elections back in 2011, but the businessman said that he was not ready to leave the private sector.

On June 16, 2015, Trump made it clear to US residents that he had changed his mind, announcing his readiness to fight for the presidency. Trump's presidential campaign was carefully planned: first he visited the state of New Hampshire, traditionally considered a Republican stronghold, then toured Nevada and California, states that previously received a solid financial injection from the Donald. Trump also repeatedly held rallies in his support to entertain the electorate.

Trump's popularity was influenced by his character: the newly minted politician was accustomed to speaking openly, without veiling his speech with euphemisms. Because of this feature, he gained fame as an eccentric truth teller.

The main messages of the Trump campaign concerned the following areas of American society: immigration, health care, the economy and domestic policy. The Republican treated the people of Mexico and the Middle East extremely coldly. If he wins the election, Trump threatened to build an analogue of the Great Wall of China on the border with Mexico. Trump has also advocated many times for the immediate elimination of ISIS armed forces. In the economic sector, even Democrats listened to the billionaire; he argued for the need to return production to the United States by increasing duties on goods of American companies manufactured abroad, and also argued for the need for a trade war with China. In March 2021, Donald Trump was named the most likely Republican presidential candidate, predicting that he would face Hillary Clinton in the final round of elections.

In Russia, Trump's candidacy for the presidency was greeted warmly, as the billionaire more than once publicly promised to improve relations with the Kremlin.

The results of the election for the 45th US President were unpredictable. A month before the final day, both candidates received a good portion of “black PR”. Clinton was involved in a scandal involving the FBI, Trump was accused of sexual harassment. Clinton was confidently predicted to win, especially after the third and final debate. However, the results surprised everyone - Trump effortlessly beat his competitor, gaining 306 electoral votes out of the 270 required for victory, thereby securing a seat in the Oval Office of the White House.

[edit] Biographical information

Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946 in the Queens borough of New York into a family of German immigrants on his father's side and Scottish immigrants on his mother's side.

Education: Fordham University, New York Military Academy, University of Pennsylvania and Wharton School of Business.

He is a media mogul, president of a construction company and founder of a company that operates many casinos and hotels around the world. According to political observer A. M. Ostrovsky, “his [Trump’s] past as a person from a TV program is much more important than all his experience in business”[2].

As of 2015, his fortune is estimated at 4.1 billion US dollars. On May 18, 2021, Trump stated that his wealth exceeds $10 billion.

On June 16, 2015, he announced his entry into the race for the post of President of the United States.[⇨]

He called for a complete ban on Muslims entering the United States, building a wall on the border with Mexico and deporting all illegal immigrants from the United States.

In August 2015, Trump said that “The relationship we [the United States] have with the whole world—not just Russia—is terrible.”[3]

On September 25, 2021, during a conversation with Bibi, Netanyahu promised to recognize Jerusalem as the single and indivisible capital of Israel if he wins the elections.

Trump has faced a variety of criticism during the 2021 presidential election campaign, including for long-standing comments about women. On October 7, 2021, a video recording from 11 years ago was released, in which Trump, in a conversation backstage on the set of a popular television show, spoke very frivolously about women[4], using vulgar phrases, he says that women allow him to pester him, since he is a “star” .[5] Trump has been criticized for being too nice (according to his critics) to Putin.

Married for the third time, he has five children, including daughter Ivanka Trump.

Presidency

The presidential inauguration took place on January 20, 2021. During his inauguration speech, Trump called for “overcoming the split between the ruling elite, the corrupt establishment and American society,” radically changing the labor market by expelling all illegal migrants from the country, leaving political blocs that are unfavorable to the United States, reaching an understanding with Russia, transferring all resources for the benefit of the country and destroy Islamist terrorists. Republican Michael Pence has become Trump's right-hand man.

During the first two years of his presidency, Trump signed many decrees aimed at economic and foreign policy reforms: he expanded the territory for oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico and all oceans except the Indian; tightened measures to combat terrorist organizations; ordered a missile strike on Damascus in response to the Syrian president’s use of chemical weapons against the opposition; withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran, under the terms of which the “six” countries received partial control over Iran’s nuclear weapons.

But within America itself, Trump’s repeatedly expressed intention to build a wall between the United States and Mexico to limit the influx of illegal immigrants into the country has caused particularly heated debate.

Donald Trump with the Mexican Wall Project

Donald Trump with the Mexican Wall Project

It was the wall on the border with its southern neighbor that caused the suspension of the US Government at the end of 2021. The Mexican Wall (or "Trump's Wall"), one of the main points of the president's election program, was valued at almost six billion dollars.

Trump's opponents never tired of talking about his connection with Russia and accused him of gaining votes due to the indirect interference of the Russian “troll factory” in the election campaign on the social network Facebook.

For example, the large-scale public page “Black Activist” was mentioned, among whose subscribers, according to journalists, were “Prigozhin’s trolls” who convinced the audience not to vote for Hillary Clinton. The President, of course, denied this connection. Special counsel Robert Mueller pursued this theory for two years, but was defeated after finding no evidence that could sway Congress.

Personal life of Donald Trump

Donald Trump has been married several times. His first wife is Czechoslovakian model Ivana Zelnichkova. They got married in 1977. That same year, Trump's first child, Donald Jr., was born; four years later, the businessman became the father of Ivanka Trump, and in 1984, his second son, Eric. Donald and Ivana Trump's marriage ended in 1992. After the divorce, the ex-wife assigned him the nickname The Donald, which the press really liked.

Trump began dating his second wife, actress Marla Maples, back in 1989, and immediately after his divorce from Ivana, he proposed to her. She gave the billionaire a daughter, Tiffany. But the marriage did not last long - they divorced in 1999. Tiffany grew up with her mother in California, but her father also took part in her upbringing.

At the beginning of 2005, Donald married another fashion model from Eastern Europe, 34-year-old Melanie Knauss. Trump's third wife was originally from Slovenia, shone on the pages of glossy magazines, and did not hesitate to appear very candidly. The wedding of Trump and Melanie was included in the list of the most expensive wedding ceremonies with a budget of $45 million. In 2006, their common son, Barron William Trump, was born.

Trump's second wife was actress Marla Maples, who gave birth to his daughter Tiffany. After 6 years, their marriage also broke up. Trump began dating Marla while he was married to Ivana. Later, Maples will publicly ask Zelnchikova for forgiveness for this, but she will not accept the apology.

It should be noted that all of Trump’s abandoned wives were not left without financial compensation, and the children constantly receive financial assistance.

Today the politician's chosen one is fashion model Melania Knauss. The wife of the US President is 24 years younger than her husband.

It is not known how many years such a family union will last, but the billionaire himself states that Melania is the love of his life.

A year after the wedding, the billionaire’s 5th child, Barron William Trump, was born.

Melania was born in the former Yugoslavia, into a poor family. One famous photographer appreciated her external data and offered her to become a fashion model. Since then, the girl’s career has taken off sharply; she moved to America, where she continued to participate in photo shoots and opened a jewelry salon. For some time, even erotic photos with her participation were published, but this was before she met Donald. Melania speaks several languages perfectly.

The spouses match each other in height. Trump's height is 191 cm, Melania's is 178.

Impeachment attempt

From the first days of Donald Trump's presidency, there was talk among Democrats about impeachment.
Several attempts were made, but the House of Representatives (the lower house of the US Congress) was controlled by the Republican Party, so they did not go beyond the vote. That all changed when the House of Representatives was completely re-elected in the December 2021 elections, right in the middle of Trump's presidency, giving Democrats a majority. The president's opponents have the opportunity to launch a new anti-corruption investigation against Trump.

Even before the December election, Michael Cohen, Trump's lawyer, admitted that in 2021 he lied to the court about Trump's intentions to build a 100-story Trump Tower skyscraper in Moscow City. He previously claimed that Trump had no such thoughts, but according to new data, the billionaire wanted to build a skyscraper, but changed his mind around June 2016. This served as a reason for new accusations against the politician in connection with Russia. A growing number of Democrats have begun calling on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, to impeach Trump.

But in the end, the reason for impeachment was the so-called “Ukrainegate,” similar to “Watergate,” which destroyed the political career of President Richard Nixon. Trump was accused of putting pressure on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for two months (from May to September 2019). Trump wanted to get dirt on Joe Biden (potentially his main competitor in the upcoming presidential election), and in return promised Ukraine financial and military assistance.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky

Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky

Zelensky was required to assist in the investigation into the corruption activities of Biden’s son, Hunter, who from 2014 to 2015 was on the board of directors of the gas production company Burisma operating in Ukraine.

The US intelligence service reported the fact of pressure on Zelensky, and the White House tried to hide this point from Congress, contrary to current legislation. On September 24, 2021, Nancy Pelosi announced the start of an investigation, and on October 31, Donald Trump was officially impeached. Two weeks later, public hearings began. The presidential administration prohibited White House staff from assisting Congress. Donald Trump responded to all the accusations on his Twitter: However, when in February 2020 the Senate, in which the majority was occupied by Republicans since 2021, considered the claims, and the current president was completely acquitted.

[edit] Campaign 2016

Moscow State University professor E.D. Lozansky notes in December 2015 that the Republican elites are dumbfounded: “For them, Trump is an absolutely unacceptable figure, since he is not a professional politician and refuses to play by established rules, and is not shy about talking about it openly. <…> The party elites are also infuriated by the fact that Trump does not depend on the party’s financial support and is therefore capable of pursuing an independent policy”[6].

During a December 2015 press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Trump “a very bright and talented person.”[7] After this, the media began to discredit Trump, presenting him as V. Putin’s best friend.[8] On July 28, 2016, US President Barack Obama said that Trump “indulges Putin.”[9]

02/17/2016 Barack Obama said that he hopes that Trump will not become his successor[10]. Obama said he hoped Americans would be “good enough” not to elect Trump as president.[11] Trump stated that Obama would go down in history as the worst president [12][13].

Russian political scientist Gevorg Mirzayan in the spring of 2021 about.[14] The topic of Trump's alleged ties with Russia was actively exploited in the United States (of course, against him)[15][16], while Russia denied it.[17]

Columnist for The Globe and Mail

Margaret Wantey wrote about Trump: “A heavy darkness has shrouded US politics. The world looks at this with its mouth open in horror. Never before in our memory has a person so unfit for office come so close to the White House.”[18][19]

On July 7, 2021, Trump's son-in-law, husband I. Trump Jared Kushner, a descendant of Belarusian Jews who survived the Holocaust, said that “Trump is not a racist or an anti-Semite. I saw this firsthand while caring for his daughter.” Oh, Kushner supports Trump.[20]

On October 15, 2016, Trump wrote on his official Twitter: “Hillary Clinton must be punished, she must be in prison. But instead, she is claiming the presidency in a situation with rigged elections.” In his opinion, the media are publishing false accusations against him in order to “push” Clinton into the presidency.[21] Previously, Trump called his main opponent, Democratic Hillary Clinton, “a liar” and “perhaps the most corrupt person who has ever aspired to become president of the United States.”[22] He stated that he had "incredible support" because she "is a terrible candidate."[23]

On 11/04/2016, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange expressed the opinion that Trump would not be able to win the election because his rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton, had gained too much support: “Trump will not be allowed to win. Banks, intelligence, military-industrial companies, large foreign companies - they all united around Hillary Clinton. The same can be said about the media.”[24]

Trump won the election. Observers compare his victory to Brexit (the exit of Great Britain from the European Union); for many it came as a surprise, since the prevailing expectation was that Hillary Clinton would win[25][26].

Trump lost to Clinton by two million votes, but received the support of a majority of electors (306 out of 538), which determine the outcome of the election. However, six electors have already refused to vote for him.[27]

[edit] Election promises

  • Bring order to America[28], make America “great again” (the motto of his election program).
  • In the first 100 days of his presidency, cut taxes, as well as “reconsider trade deals and military agreements,” including with NATO—this is how Trump intends to solve the problem of the country’s multi-trillion-dollar national debt and achieve its economic prosperity[29]. On September 29, 2016, he promised not to make attempts to become “president of the world,” he also stated that the United States “needs a new foreign, economic, migration and trade policy.”[30]
  • On November 4, 2016, he promised that if he was elected, Washington would stop interfering in the affairs of other countries and “overthrow regimes.” “We will stop trying to build democracy (outside the United States) and overthrow regimes,” while he assured that the United States will use military force only in extreme cases — “when it is vitally necessary.”

A month before the election, Donald Trump became infected with the coronavirus along with his wife, but a few days later he was completely healthy. According to the president, he was injected with an experimental drug made from antibodies. Having recovered from Covid-19, he traveled to 9 states considered traditionally Republican. Donald Trump told how he fell ill with coronavirus After a disastrous debate for both politicians, preliminary polls showed that Biden is in the lead in terms of support: 51.3% versus 43.5% for Trump (as of 11/1/20). Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was possible to vote early, including by mail. About a third of voters exercised this right. Opinion polls showed that mostly Biden supporters, more mobile and progressive Democratic candidates voted by mail, while Trump supporters were expected to prefer the traditional method of voting. All this, as political scientists argued, threatened a difficult situation and the growth of popular unrest in an already turbulent situation.

After lengthy calculations and Trump's attempts to challenge the results, the electors voted in favor of Biden: 306 votes for the Democratic candidate against 232 votes for Donald Trump. Thus, Joe Biden became the new President of the United States.

Election promises

How Donald Trump became president

As a member of the Republican Party, Trump decided to take part in the US presidential election in 2015. He paid for the entire election campaign from his personal funds, and this was a significant advantage that distinguished him from other candidates. Trump declared that every resident of the country would have a decent salary, and he would be able to overcome poverty.

The Republican paid special attention to Russia and was confident that he would be able to improve relations with Putin and stop the countries’ hostility towards each other.

Known for scandalous statements, extravagant phrases and peculiar actions, the billionaire believed that he had no equal rivals in the presidential race, and he, and not his main competitor H. Clinton, would receive the presidency of the country.

In case of victory in the elections he promised:

Occupation of the Capitol 2021

The counting of votes and the official recognition of Biden as the new President of the United States did not suit either Trump’s supporters or the politician himself. Immediately after the results were tabulated, he accused Democrats of numerous voter fraud in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Trump regularly spoke about his suspicions on Twitter, and soon, as bbc.com reports, the social network blocked the ex-president’s account for misinformation. In his tweets and at rallies, Donald Trump also called on supporters to “rise up,” and they soon listened. After large demonstrations on January 5 and 6, 2021, people calling themselves Trump supporters began storming the Capitol in Washington, where the Electoral College was meeting at that moment. Protesters broke down windows and doors in the building and entered, causing the Senate and House of Representatives to be evacuated by security forces. As a result of the events, 5 people died, including one police officer from the Congress building. Storming the Capitol: video Donald Trump noted that the reason for what was happening was the “stolen from patriots” election, but he did not take responsibility for the riot and even condemned the attack on the Congress building. The American leader noted that it was the actions of the Democrats that became the catalyst for the events at the Capitol, which led to the storming of the building by protesters and the subsequent seizure of the building.
