The cause of death of Dmitry Hvorostovsky was a terrible disease

The path from pianist to international opera star

The future artist was born in Krasnoyarsk on October 16, 1962.
Dmitry received his first basics of musical education at an early age, thanks to his father, who loved song and played the piano. He also had a large collection of records by world opera stars. It was them that little Dima listened to throughout his childhood. From the age of four, his father taught Hvorostovsky to play the keyboard and two years later he entered music school without difficulty. The teachers saw the guy as a successful pianist, but problems arose with singing lessons. After secondary school, Dmitry enters a pedagogical school, where he receives a diploma as a music teacher.

But the teacher’s portfolio was not of interest to the future artist, and he entered the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts to study opera vocals. Throughout his training, the aspiring singer was taught by a world-famous teacher, Ekaterina Iofel. As the artist himself admits: “I carried the instructions of this amazing teacher throughout my entire creative career.”

In his final years at the institute, Hvorostovsky performed as an opera singer on the stage of his hometown. She quickly gained popularity in Krasnoyarsk among spectators and directors, who began to invite the young talent to all opera and ballet productions. In 1987, in the city of Baku, Dmitry won the All-Russian vocal competition. And since this year he has been touring the cities of the Soviet Union.

A great success that opened the door to fame was the victory at the “Cardiff Voices” competition. After which the artist had the opportunity to perform in the best theaters in London, Milan, and New York. The opera singer was nominated for a Grammy Award three times. Throughout his operatic career, the artist has recorded more than forty albums and collections of songs.

Fans were won over not only by Dmitry’s talent, but also by his appearance – athletic build, stylish suits, bold hairstyles. Hvorostovsky's image brought him a place in the ranking of the most beautiful people in the world.

The artist also did charity work and developed the patriotic spirit of Russia.

Dmitry Hvorostovsky's cause of death has been named - everything that is known. Latest details.

“This man was endlessly devoted to music and deeply immersed in it, not so much professionally as internally. He deeply felt and experienced everything he sang. In life he was friendly and sincere, but in his work he could be an absolutely uncompromising musician,” admitted Osmanov. Hvorostovsky's friend added:

— Doctors are in the same conjectures as ordinary people, since there is no consensus on what causes malignant brain tumors. And it is impossible to single out one reason. This is a multifactorial problem: environment, lifestyle, products, genetic predispositions - everything matters. Today, unfortunately, glioblastoma is the most difficult disease in neuro-oncology.

In addition, Jay Z holds the record for the number of nominations (he has eight), rapper Kendrick Lamar will have to compete in seven nominations, Bruno Mars - in six. This year the composition “Despacito” has gained great popularity. She has two Grammy nominations. It is noteworthy that “Despacito” is the first non-English-language song in the entire history of the prestigious music award to receive two nominations at once.

Dmitry Hvorostovsky suffered from what illness and why he died. News today 12/03/2017

Once, in his youth, a fortune teller predicted Dmitry’s fate. She said that the artist would have two marriages and several children, enormous fame and many loyal fans. She also told him about a serious illness in the future.

A happy father with children (from left to right): Maria (the daughter of the singer’s first wife, whom he adopted), 21-year-old Danila and 21-year-old Alexandra (children from his first marriage with ballerina Svetlana Ivanova), 10-year-old Nina, in the second row - 15-year-old Maxim:

People, even without understanding the intricacies of operatic sound production, the peculiarities of vibrato, intonation, overtones and impedance, understood that Hvorostovsky was a real, pure, high art, of which there is very little today. He is not a temporary worker, not a secular character, like many on our stage.

Candid stories and memories of Dmitry Hvorostovsky's friends continue to appear on the Internet. The other day, the famous violinist Chingiz Osmanov, who worked with the singer on his latest album, “Sviridov’s Vocal Cycle: Rus' Set Away,” said in an interview with StarHit magazine that Dmitry worked tirelessly until the very end.

Hvorostovsky died on November 22 in London at the age of 56. The cause of death was brain cancer, which the singer fought for two and a half years. Farewell to Hvorostovsky took place on November 27 at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. Several hundred people came to say goodbye to the singer.

The opera singer's ex-wife periodically reminds him of herself. So, in 2009, news appeared on the Internet that Svetlana Ivanova was demanding 12 million rubles from the world-famous baritone to support their common children.

The singer, in addition, received recognition as a performer of works in the chamber and cantata-oratorio genres. These are romances by Russian and foreign composers (P. Tchaikovsky, A. Borodin, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, S. Rachmaninov, A. Rubinstein, M. Glinka, G. Purcell, M. Ravel, J. Brahms, G. Duparc) , and baroque arias of Western European composers of the 16th–17th centuries, and Russian folk songs. Among the works of the cantata-oratorio genre, the singer’s repertoire included “Songs of a Wandering Apprentice” and “Songs about Dead Children” by G. Mahler, “Songs and Dances of Death” by M. Mussorgsky, “Suite on Words by Michelangelo” by D. Shostakovich, “Rus Departed” and “Petersburg” by G. Sviridov, as well as sacred music of Russian composers.

Right in front

After performing in Astrakhan, the artist became ill. And so he decided to seek help from specialists. The result of the examination shocked everyone - Dmitry was found to have a brain tumor. As it turned out, it appeared many years ago, but the disease had not manifested itself in any way before.

Opera, even without such intertwining, is increasingly resorting to the services of cinema and television, which allows a wide audience to discover the art of opera. Opera has ceased to be static, and opera artists, as Dmitry Hvorostovsky noted, are becoming less and less like “some fat monsters who did not act, but simply moved around the stage and screamed at the top of their lungs so that you couldn’t understand the words.” On the contrary, modern opera requires from the artist not only a voice, but also dynamic action on stage, pronounced dramatic talent, plasticity and refined movement. The requirements for opera have changed, and it is forced to adapt and change so as not to become a “museum genre.”

At the same time, Hvorostovsky noted the difference between musicians in the West and in Russia: “I heard how Western orchestras play - wonderful high-quality sound, comfortable, but there is no conflict, suffering, depth. Not because the conductor or musicians don’t feel them. Ask Gergiev or Temirkanov what this might mean. I don't think they have it in their genes. These are countries of unafraid people: they live for centuries without knowing what war is, devastation, or what it means to love a person. Real art is the kind that existed in besieged Leningrad, where people went to philharmonic concerts through pain, hunger, and the loss of loved ones. They saw music as a release from suffering, just like religion. In the nineties, when there was devastation, people also came to classical music concerts as if they were a religious event.”

And therefore, when some “yellow” journalists began to seek out and savor not the most beautiful details of his life and death, when, like kites, in pursuit of sensations, they pounced on the deceased Hvorostovsky, releasing a stream of dirt every hour, the people were indignant and rightly stood up to defend his good name singer A real mass psychosis has occurred!

- Yes, this is commerce. The funds spent there on treatment are not commensurate with the actual costs. As for the number of good surgeons, I think it is equally high both in Russia and abroad.

At the same time, there are quite a lot of cases when our neurosurgeons had to treat people after their treatment abroad. I have an eleven-year-old patient whom I have been seeing for four years. Initially, she was operated on in an Israeli clinic for acquired hydrocephalus of the brain. After this she had a huge number of complications. She came to us with a torn arterial catheter, which was located in the right pulmonary artery. With the help of our cardiac surgeon colleagues, we removed this fragment and performed repeated surgery on the girl’s brain. Now she feels great.

Hvorostovsky's skull was drilled

Hvorostovsky, who was treated in a London clinic, explained why he refused medical care in Russia. “I have everything and don’t need anything. We need to help those who are deprived of the opportunity to provide for themselves. In addition, it is important to understand the psychological state of a person who has just learned about a serious, possibly fatal, illness.

. At such a moment, the last thing you want to do is communicate with anyone. We are ready to share this joy and happiness with the world, but in times of trouble it is better to be alone,” he explained to TASS.

The artist said that he was to some extent prepared for such an outcome. “ The disease was not such a surprise for me, apparently I approached it

. For a long time I could not get rid of a pessimistic mood; a black perception of the world, a feeling of apathy and fatigue appeared. I stopped enjoying work, I was very tired, indifferent to what was happening around me. Perhaps the reason was a physical condition, but until now I did not understand this,” he noted and added that he was shocked when he learned the diagnosis.

“Of course it’s a shock. How else? Normal human reaction! You always hope for the best, but you also assume the worst. I tried to drive away bad thoughts, but they still came... I tried to turn off my emotions and think sensibly. I realized that I couldn’t just take it ─ and leave. There are people around me, parents, family, children. Nina and Maxim are still very young

“,” the singer shared.

«From the doctors I heard the main thing: “You will not die”

. This is the first. No less important for me was the fact that I would still be able to work on stage and lead an active lifestyle. Yes, certain restrictions cannot be ruled out, but these are inevitable losses. For such a goal it was worth enduring the inconveniences associated with chemotherapy and radiation,” added the golden baritone.

He noted that the treatment was quite painful; he had to “grit his teeth and endure” to complete the chemotherapy

. “My wife’s support helped a lot. Without Florence, coping with the situation would have been much more difficult. Flo never allowed herself to doubt that another outcome was possible other than victory over the disease,” said Hvorostovsky, emphasizing that due to the treatment he even had difficulty moving.

«I was irradiated for six weeks. This is a strong blow to the body, serious damage to health

.
The last procedure was on August 12, and my head is still tingling. I was partially bald and the hair on the back of my head was falling out. At the Rochester Clinic in the USA, I had a powerful biopsy, an operation under general anesthesia, without which it was impossible to understand which treatment method to choose. Essentially, holes were drilled into the base of the skull
. If you bring your hand to the area that has been irradiated, you may even feel additional warmth. There are moments when the blood rushes in and everything there begins to pulsate,” the singer said.
