Tula politician and businessman Sergei Konov: Cinema introduced me to the woman I loved

Many directors speak of actress Ekaterina Rednikova as a great professional and talented person. During her creative biography, she played many roles, both major and minor. She starred with both foreign and domestic directors. But despite such demand, Catherine is not a popular actress, which she could be thanks to her talent. But for her this is not a reason to give up. She continues to work and waits for her starring role.

Childhood

Ekaterina was born on May 17, 1973 in Moscow. Her parents had nothing to do with art: her mother worked as an accountant and economist, and her father was a researcher. The girl became the second child in the family - she has an older brother, Dmitry, who is 7 years older. He is also a “techie”, he graduated from the Faculty of Cybernetics at MEPhI, but after his sister became an actress, he went to study to become a screenwriter.

Ekaterina Rednikova in her youth

In short, the girl had few prerequisites for a creative career. At the same time, from the age of six she had a burning desire to become an actress and loved to sing and dance in front of relatives and guests. At the same time, Katya was a very shy child, and the most difficult thing was to decide to start performing, and then the fear went away. Katya's other childhood hobbies were stamp collection and aquarium fish.

In the 6th grade, the girl was sent to drama school, and the stiffness went away. And when Rednikova moved to another school in the 9th grade, she learned what male attention was - almost every classmate was in love with her. After graduating from school, the girl entered GITIS, which she successfully graduated in 1994. She studied in the workshop of Pavel Osipovich Chomsky.

Tula politician and businessman Sergei Konov: Cinema introduced me to the woman I loved

Sergei Konov is an amazing person. A successful businessman, a popular deputy, a politician, a loving husband and a caring son.

And also the champion of Russia in shooting! We decided to find out how Sergei Alexandrovich lives from him personally and come as guests.

From the Sloboda dossier Sergei Konov Born on July 23, 1968 in Tula. Graduated from school No. 8, Tula Polytechnic Institute. Family: mother Alla Vasilevna, father Alexander Grigorievich, wife Vera, her son Vladimir. Favorite food: grilled meat. Reference book: “History of Russia” by S. Solovyov. Favorite movie: “Heart of a Dog.” Motto: always achieve the goal.

Deputy with a gold medal, Sergei Konov, lives in an ordinary nine-story building in the center of Tula. The room where we talked over a cup of aromatic tea with cake and fruit was beautiful and somehow homely. Comfortable upholstered furniture, a piano, a lot of books in the closet, and medals from various shooting championships on the desk. And on the sofa is the “bed” of everyone’s favorite, 15-year-old Angora cat Richard. — Sergey Alexandrovich, congratulations on your victory at the Russian Championship. How long have you been interested in shooting? “I’ve been practicing practical shooting for three and a half years. For the first time I went to “shoot for gold” at the Russian Championship, which took place in Togliatti. There were 50 athletes in my standard class, and I beat them all.

True friends - you are the director of the Tula cultural and leisure complex, a deputy, deputy chairman of the City Duma. How do you have enough time and energy for everything? — Time is sorely lacking. Work in the Duma, meetings with voters, various interesting business projects (Sergei Konov helped open restaurants in Tula “Sushi House” and “San Remo.” - Author’s note). But there are true friends nearby, and your beloved wife is always waiting at home. It helps to cope with everything. — How did you study at school? — I was good, but never an excellent student (laughs). By the way, we still meet with our classmates, although this year marks 25 years since we graduated from school. And the school director, Alla Lvovna Novikova, still works as a director! — What school hobbies do you remember? — I have been conducting political information for many years. In 10 minutes I had to tell what happened in the world. The teachers were proud of me, but one day I caught the Voice of America on the radio and went in the wrong direction (laughs). — Who did you dream of becoming? — I had a great desire to enter the naval school. Immediately after the final exams, I bought a ticket to Odessa and left for my dream. - And your parents let you go? - What could they do? (Laughs). I never joined the naval corps - I didn’t pass by sight. He returned to Tula and followed in his father’s footsteps, entering the Polytechnic. And then perestroika began. We received it with delight! We, three friends, created our own company - trade, tents, and we also brought films to cinemas. Our friendship with Andrei Markov and Evgeniy Khoroshavin has stood the test of time, and now we are not only best friends, but also faithful partners. — Did you serve in the army? — In the guard service in Temirtau. But I immediately realized that the army was not for me - I don’t like to “take the lead”, lie down at the signal and march in formation. But the army became an excellent school of life. From a homely youth, I turned into an independent man.

You always want to be close... - How did you meet your soulmate? — Cinema helped (laughs). I brought films to the Oktyabr cinema, and Vera worked there as deputy director. I liked Vera at first sight - a bright blonde with kind blue eyes. A year later we got married (Sergei was 24 years old at the time, Vera was 37). “And thank God that this love still does not end,” adds Vera Borisovna. - I have been happy for 18 years, I love and am loved. Like in the movies! - Vera Borisovna, who is the boss in your house? “We don’t share any responsibilities, we just live together.” Of course, I cook. When we first got married, Sergei loved to make duck stuffed with apples. And he did it great. — What is your signature dish? What do you do to please your husband? — I’m not a very good cook, but it’s important for Sergei that the food is prepared with my hands and that I sit next to him. — Where do you like to relax? — In summer and winter, Sergei and I like to go to Yasnaya Polyana. If you don’t have much time, we take a samovar and sweets for tea with us. If there is more, fry the meat. “Abroad we love Austria most of all,” continues Sergei Alexandrovich. — There are excellent bike paths and ski slopes. By the way, cycling is my signature stress reliever. After a hard day, I sit down and drive away, for example, to Yasnaya Polyana and back. 40 km - and no more fatigue!

Actor career

Having received her diploma, Ekaterina got a job in the main troupe of the Moscow theater “Et cetera” at the invitation of artistic director Alexander Kalyagin. For several years she played the main role in the production of “Beyond the Horizon.” Rednikova also took part in the performances “The Reluctant Doctor” and “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets.”

After working on stage for just over three years, the actress decided to concentrate on her film career. She already had experience - the girl first appeared on the big screen at the age of 16, starring in the films “Womanizer” and “Lessons at the End of Spring.”

Then there was the role of the maid Nastya in the drama “The Peasant Young Lady” with Elena Korikova, who helped the young noblewoman Liza meet her lover (Dmitry Shcherbina) under the guise of the peasant woman Akulina.

In 1995, shortly after graduating from university, at one of the theater rehearsals, Ekaterina met director Pavel Chukhrai, who was recruiting the cast for his new drama “The Thief.” 23-year-old Ekaterina had to lie a little about her age, but her life experience and talent for instantly trying on someone else’s life, honed during her service in the theater, helped her get the role of her namesake Katya. “He was probably so tired of searching that he decided to stop with me,” the actress later joked.

The film contains sex scenes with the hero of Vladimir Mashkov. The actress chose not to use a double, but starred in them herself. At the same time, she did not begin any romantic relationship with Mashkov - they remained good friends.

“The Thief” was released only in 1997 and became the main film event of the year: it was nominated for an Oscar, won the jury prize at the Venice Film Festival, and Ekaterina received the Golden Aries and Nika. It would seem that all roads in Russian cinema had opened up for her, but then the crisis of 1998 struck. “They didn’t film anything at all!” the actress recalled.

Having starred in the episodic role of the bitchy Natalya Dosyukova in the TV series “Kamenskaya”, Ekaterina accepted an invitation from Western colleagues - in 2000 she played in the French-Canadian film “Visa to Death”, where she played the Russian girl Katerina, then starred in the Turkish drama “Balalaika”, and in 2002 she received a role in the Russian-American series “Russians in the City of Angels.”

The series was filmed in the States, where Catherine had already visited when “The Thief” was nominated for an Academy Award. She began to live in two countries, and at first, when she came to Los Angeles, she stayed with Milla Jovovich’s mother, actress Galina Loginova.

Despite the move, Rednikova continued to film mostly in Russia. At the beginning of the 2000s, she appeared in the TV series “Deadly Force”, “The Emperor’s Love” and “I Planned an Escape”.

In 2005, Ekaterina received an offer from the management of the BBC channel, which invited her to participate in the serial film “Archangel”. The actress's partner on the set was the popular actor Daniel Craig.

Since the mid-2000s, Ekaterina’s career has taken off, although none of the projects with her participation have been able to reach the level of “Thief”: “Hunting on the Asphalt”, “The Irrevocable Man”, “If You Hear Me”, “SMERSH” , “A Gift to Stalin” (which few people know about, since it was “wrapped up” on television for an inexplicable reason), etc.

Still from the movie “Home”

Another work of Ekaterina that deserves special mention is Natalya from the military “Home” with Sergei Garmash and Bogdan Stupka. Ekaterina considers this role to be the third significant one in her filmography (after “The Thief” and “Gift to Stalin”). Among other works that were especially interesting to her, Rednikova highlights the Georgian-produced film “Moscow - Tbilisi” and the TV series “Fasten your seat belts.”

Personal life of Ekaterina Rednikova

In 2005, Ekaterina began dating producer of Russian origin, Sergei Konov, who emigrated to America, who is also Dmitry Medvedev’s cousin.

Despite the significant age difference (the man is almost 20 years older than his chosen one), they got engaged in 2008. The wedding, stylized in the 20s, took place in Moscow. In 2012, the couple had a son, Laurus. The family spent most of their time in the States.

In the summer of 2015, Ekaterina appeared on the red carpet of the MIFF hand in hand with another man. He turned out to be 54-year-old businessman from Argentina Alejandro Zichy-Thyssen.

Careful selection

Ekaterina Rednikova is used to treating everything very carefully. This also applies to the choice of roles and partners in your personal life. Journalists talked about her numerous relationships with colleagues and even married people, but the actress did not give any comments on this matter.

It is known that she fell in love as a schoolgirl. The guy was older than her, and her parents were very worried about this relationship. They supervised the young lovers with special care. Soon this relationship ended. Catherine was already a graduate and almost married a man who was older than her. But for some reason the wedding did not take place. Before marriage, the girl was in a relationship, but all of them were short-lived and ended in separation.

When Catherine crossed the 30-year mark, she met a man who could meet all her requirements for an ideal man. The actress did not hide the fact that the older you get, the more demands you place on your life partner.

Ekaterina met her future husband, producer Sergei Konov, in America during the filming of the film “Captivity. From the first days of their acquaintance, the girl realized that he was an intelligent and reasonable person, and it was interesting to spend time with him. But feelings between them did not flare up immediately. At first, Ekaterina and Sergei were just friends. They could call or go to a restaurant, and then not communicate for several months.

Everything changed after one gift. Ekaterina Rednikova’s future husband Sergei sent the girl his book “Film Festival. Translator service." After reading it, Catherine realized that the man had a subtle soul, romantic and sensitive. She looked at him with different eyes. The actress practically proposed to Sergei herself, and he was not against becoming the husband of a charming woman.

The lovers formalized their relationship in 2008. After 4 years, the couple became the father of a beautiful son. They named the child the rare name Laurus. Catherine's birth took place in America. Now the actress has to live in two countries, so most of her projects are in Russia, and her family lives in America.

A few years later, information began to appear more and more often that there was discord in the family life of the star couple. For a long time, the couple did not give any comments on this matter. A new wave of rumors flared up after Ekaterina attended the Moscow Film Festival without Sergei. She was accompanied by a count from Argentina.

But even after such a public appearance, Catherine continued to remain silent. This gave rise to even more rumors. Many say that relations between the spouses have improved, some believe that the feelings between Ekaterina and Sergei have cooled and they no longer live together. But in any case, the actress deserves to be happy with the man who deserves it.
