Childhood and youth

The artist was born in September 1955 in the taiga wilderness - in the village of Sogom near Khanty-Mansiysk. He grew up in an incomplete and dysfunctional family, far from cinema and any other form of art. The parents divorced immediately after the birth of their son. The mother is Tatar by nationality and raised the boy alone. Alexander’s father, a representative of the Khanty Nikolai Bashirov, did not participate in raising his son.

The only adult man in the house was the grandfather - a one-armed invalid and anti-Soviet, according to Alexander Bashirov, who did not want to work for the new government due to “fundamental political differences in views.” There was only one activity that my grandfather was repulsed by: fishing. Therefore, the only breadwinner was his mother, who worked at the post office until old age.

Alexander Bashirov says that in his childhood and adolescence he discovered two passions - smoking and drawing. Bashirov became addicted to smoking in the 3rd grade “for company.”

Alexander left his native land in his youth, after which he went to Leningrad, where he entered a vocational school to become a tiler. After graduation, the future actor got a job at a cement plant in Vyborg, where he worked until he was drafted into the army in 1981.

Bashirov served in Transbaikalia, in a tank division. His passion for drawing influenced his service: the artist was assigned to the army club. In the author’s program “Visiting Dmitry Gordon,” Bashirov said that in his second year of service, the graphic designer was given the task of drawing General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Brezhnev in a tank helmet. The artist completed the honorable mission on time, but as soon as the portrait was hung on the façade of the club, the leader died.

When asked who gave Bashirov his acting genes, in an interview the actor humorously answered that “it’s all about my eternal and unsatisfied desire to rule over people,” inherited from my ancestor Khan from the Golden Horde.

Personal life

During his student years, Alexander Bashirov married an American and went with his wife to her homeland. The marriage produced a son, Christopher, with whom the artist maintains a relationship after returning to Russia. But the actor returned home alone: he divorced his wife due to divergent views on life and differences in characters.

Over time, Bashirov's personal life improved. He is married to the lead singer of the musical group “Kolibri” Inna Volkova, with whom he is raising his daughter Alexandra-Maria. There is no information about the artist’s other children on the Internet.

Bashirov's next wife was American Sarah Wendy Newton. She was also a student at VGIK and one day her paths crossed with Alexander. This acquaintance grew into a serious relationship that ended in marriage. After the wedding, which took place in 1990, the couple moved to live in America. There they had a son, who was named Christopher.

If family life was more or less successful, Bashirov’s career did not develop at all. Moreover, he more than once regretted leaving Russia. The American mentality was alien to him. On this basis, he began to have quarrels with his wife. Soon he decided to get a divorce and return back to Russia.

The image of Chudik turned out to be ambiguous, but the artist liked the beginning. The film is replete with black humor, but amazes with the relevance of the problems raised. Alexander Bashirov played Gordey Ivanovich, the main character of the comedy.

In 2021, Alexander starred in a short advertising film by Vasily Sigarev called Z. It became more relevant than ever only in the spring of 2021, or rather, its fragment about quarantine in Moscow, where the actor utters the phrase “There is no more of your Moscow.” In addition to him, other artists appeared in the film, including Nikolai Baskov, Yana Troyanova, Vitaly Kornienko, Vladimir Simonov.

Alexander Bashirov's career began at the directing department of VGIK. The environment played a big role in the development of the actor’s career: at the institute, Alexander met Fyodor Bondarchuk, was introduced to Viktor Tsoi - this is how the future actor got into the rocker party of St. Petersburg. Thanks to valuable contacts, already a graduate of the institute, Alexander played roles in four films, including the famous dramas “Igla” and “Assa”.
