The family relations of the country's leaders were always kept under seven seals; it was strictly forbidden to talk about relatives. Although there have always been rumors about the heirs of Leonid Brezhnev. The offspring of the General Secretary constantly found themselves in scandalous situations and were given plenty of reasons to discuss. Actually, this is why many Russian citizens are interested in how the fate of the children and grandchildren of the statesman turned out.

Galina Brezhneva

Leonid Ilyich's daughter has never been distinguished by diligent behavior. Everyone knew about the loud, irrepressible, scandalous novels of the “Kremlin beauty”. The famous father had to constantly blush for his own daughter.

Galina Leonidovna married circus artist Evgeny Milaev. The girl settled down, took up housekeeping, raising children, her own daughter and the adopted daughters left over from her husband’s first marriage:

  • Victoria;
  • Natalia;
  • Alexander.

After 10 years of living together, the couple divorced; the official reason for the divorce was Evgeniy’s infidelity with a young artist. Being a free woman, Galina Leonidovna remembered her youth, began having affairs, and became addicted to alcoholic beverages.

The neighbors and Victoria's own daughter were tired of the constant sprees and regular brawls. The girl was forced to submit her own mother for treatment to a psychiatric hospital. Galina repeatedly ran away from the clinic and was returned again. The woman was unable to cope with the problem; in 1998, the “Kremlin princess” died in a hospital.

His personal life did not work out, just like his brother’s. He divorced his wife, despite the fact that they raised three children, son Yuri and daughters Maria and Alina.

Victoria Filippova

The fate of the granddaughter of the Secretary General can hardly be called happy.

Victoria walked down the aisle twice; the spouses were famous Soviet actors:

  • Mikhail Filippov;
  • Gennady Varakuta.

The girl did not find female happiness, and as a result she was left alone. Victoria had a daughter, Galya, from Filippov, who repeated the fate of her grandmother. The great-granddaughter of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev also suffered from addiction and was a regular patient in a psychiatric hospital.

Victoria was left without an apartment and livelihood. The woman was deceived by realtors involved in the sale of her property: dachas, apartments. Victoria passed away in the winter of 2021; the cause of death was cancer.

After the clinic, Galina had to wander around and beg. The press learned about the difficult fate of the great-granddaughter of the Secretary General, and journalists helped her find a modest apartment in Zvenigorod. Life is extremely difficult for a woman; her pension is barely enough. Does not maintain contact with other relatives.

Hard times

The death of his father in 1982 was a real blow for Yuri. He sincerely mourned the passing of his loved one. Our hero had no idea that from now on his life would change. Soon M. Gorbachev came to power. All the achievements of the former Secretary General were subjected to the harshest criticism. Yuri Brezhnev was very worried about the current situation. He began to seek solace in alcohol. As a result, he was sent into retirement with the wording “for health reasons.”

In 1991, Yeltsin became president of Russia. However, Yuri Leonidovich’s attitude towards power has not changed. After all, the new rulers continued to criticize his late father.

In 2003, our hero was returned his personal pension, appreciating his services to the Russian Federation. The decree on this was personally signed by V.V. Putin.

In 2012, Yuri became a widower. After a serious illness, his beloved wife Lyudmila died. The sons were nearby and supported their father.

Yuri Brezhnev

Yuri Leonidovich Brezhnev worked at the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant. After his father was appointed to the position of General Secretary, he was engaged in foreign trade. On the personal front, everything was also going well, wife, children: Leonid, Andrey.

He was very lucky with his wife; it was Lyudmila Vladimirovna, a modest, decent woman, who guided him in the right direction and did not let him sink to the bottom.

The death of Leonid Ilyich affected all family members. Yuri was almost immediately relieved of his position. Persecution began, many believed that the Brezhnevs had acquired family wealth through dishonest labor.

Yuri never gave interviews and led a modest existence. He was engaged in breeding aquarium fish and collecting porcelain figurines of dogs. The son of Leonid Brezhnev passed away in 2013; he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

"Honey Trap"

Many of you know that the relatives of any influential politician are under constant control by the intelligence services. Yuri was no exception. Brezhnev, whose biography we are considering, was tracked down by British intelligence officers MI6. They compiled a whole dossier on him. In the materials, the character of the Secretary General’s son was described in the following words: weak-willed, non-conflict, abuses alcohol.

In the late 1960s, the British MI6 (together with the Swedish State Security Service) developed an operation codenamed "honey trap". It is not difficult to guess that Yuri Brezhnev should have fallen into it. The main “performer” was a beautiful Englishwoman named Anne. She arrived in Stockholm. There she was supposed to meet Yuri, bring him to an apartment stuffed with photographic equipment, give him a drink and put him to bed. However, the operation failed miserably. 2 days before the planned implementation of this plan, Brezhnev was suddenly summoned to Moscow. It is possible that Lubyanka was warned in time by one of the KGB agents in Sweden.

About the habits of the Secretary General

It is known that Leonid Ilyich really enjoyed receiving various awards and honors. He had a passion for hunting and was very hospitable.

Brezhnev loved to drive a car on his own. He became addicted to kissing heads of state (especially friendly communist ones) and ordinary citizens three times. The kiss of the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee with the leader of the GDR Erich Honecker was captured in the form of graffiti on the remains of the Berlin Wall.

The Secretary General did not like literature even in his old age, but he adored cinema (it is known that it was he who saved several films that are today considered classics of Soviet cinema). One of Brezhnev’s favorite forms of art was music (among his favorite performers are Alla Pugacheva, Joseph Kobzon and Lyudmila Zykina).

About the international situation

At the end of the 60s, the country's international position worsened. Negotiations to reduce militarization and the conclusion of some treaties (on SALT, missile defense, the Helsinki Security Declaration) failed.

In 1968, the Soviet Union, together with members of the socialist camp, took part in suppressing anti-communist riots in Czechoslovakia. The year 1969 is memorable for the Soviet-Chinese clashes that took place in the Damansky area. In 1979, the Afghan War began, which is considered one of the biggest mistakes of USSR diplomacy. It is known that in 1980 an armed invasion of the Polish People's Republic was being prepared. Despite these failures, Brezhnev entered the top 5 leaders of countries, the best of the last millennium.

General Secretary.

Divorce from first wife

Andrei's first wife was Nadezhda Lyamina. They had two sons - Leonid and Dmitry. Their marriage broke up when Nadezhda went to the oligarch Alexander Mamut.

Andrei understood that, with all his love for his sons, he was not able to provide the level of education and prosperity that his stepfather provided them with. This was a strong blow to his pride.

In 2002, Nadezhda died young, at only 41 years old, from pneumonia. Andrei suffered even more, suspecting that she would have remained alive if they had not divorced.

Family life did not work out with his second wife Elena. They soon divorced, she lived separately with her children, maintaining virtually no contact with Andrei.

Relationship with cousin

Andrei's relationship with his cousin Victoria (Galina's only daughter) was not easy. He did not even allow her to be buried at the Novodevichy cemetery next to her mother.

People who knew him closely claim that Victoria did everything possible to ruin his life. And solely because of his selfishness.

Andrei hoped to make a political career and received a serious offer. But he was given a condition - to first restore order in his own family.

It was about the relationship between Victoria and Galina. The daughter abandoned her mother and sent her to a mental hospital. In addition, she sold all the apartments that were inherited to her. She did it all in plain sight. They demanded from Andrei that he stop the scandals between them. Otherwise, no one will believe that he is able to control people.

He had a difficult conversation with Victoria. He posed the question to her point blank. After all, she spoiled his future too. She left her daughter, Brezhnev’s great-granddaughter, in poverty.
