There were no artists in Polina Filonenko’s family. Mom and Dad worked at a machine at a factory. The family lived in a residential area of St. Petersburg. Polina’s older brother also went to work there, at the plant. Polya herself grew up as an artistic and hooligan girl. In elementary school, she often skipped classes, for which she was reprimanded by her parents. It was boring for the too frisky and lively girl to pore over her lessons. When Polina grew up a little, she began to disappear in discos and noisy companies. But over time, she “came to her senses” and settled down. And I also thought about the future. Natural abilities and classes at the Okhta theater department of the center for aesthetic education pushed Polina Filonenko to the decision to choose an artistic career. Date of birth: August 10, 1986 Age: 33 years Place of birth: St. Petersburg Height: 160 Marital status: single

In high school, the girl already knew that she would definitely enter a theater university. One of the Moscow ones was considered. But in the 11th grade, Polina fell in love. Not wanting to part with the young man, Filonenko remained in her hometown and in 2003 entered the School of Russian Drama named after. AND ABOUT. Gorbachev."

While studying at a theater university, Polina realized that she had made the right choice. She entered the training stage and played her first roles in the plays “Cruel Intentions”, “Easy Breathing” and “Galya Ganskaya”. The young artist felt incredibly inspired by the game. And also a desire to improve.

The cinematic biography of Polina Filonenko began when she entered her 4th year. They found her photograph in the Lenfilm file when they were looking for an actress for the role of Sonya Marmeladova in the drama Crime and Punishment and Lipa in the film Yar. The student’s appearance suited these images perfectly. A fragile, blue-eyed and defenseless heroine, whom life mercilessly breaks - this is the character that Polya had to play. She successfully passed the audition and was approved for both roles.

On the set of Crime and Punishment, Filonenko was lucky to work with such masters of Russian cinema as Elena Yakovleva and Yuri Kuznetsov. Watching them play, the aspiring actress, as she herself admits, grew before her eyes.

The experience gained opened the doors to the world of big cinema for Polina Filonenko. Trying to earn credibility, at first the artist flatly refused offers to star in TV series, preferring “full-length films” to them.

After graduating from university, the girl continued her career in cinema. She with great joy accepted the offer of director Valeria Gai-Germanika to star in her new project “Everyone will die, but I will stay.” After its release, Polina Filonenko turned into an idol of Russian teenagers. The film was shown at several European film festivals. The project collected several awards in Munich, Brussels and Cannes. Polina Filonenko and her two colleagues, Olga Shuvalova and Agniya Kuznetsova, received awards for best female roles in Switzerland.

Soon the young actress gained invaluable experience working in war films. In the dramatic 12-episode film “I'll Be Back,” Filonenko played one of the three Rostopchin sisters who ended up in a concentration camp with the Germans. The main role in the project went to Elizaveta Boyarskaya. Polina played her best friend.

In the military drama “Olympus Inferno” about the events in Ossetia, Polina was offered the main role, which she played brilliantly. Filonenko played journalist Zhenya, and her partner was Israeli actor David Henry. Polina and Henry performed many of the risky stunts prescribed by the script themselves.

Among the works of recent years, where Filonenko showed herself most clearly, we can name the projects “I will show you Moscow”, “Winter Woman”, “Love Therapy” and “Classmates”.

In 2021, there will be film premieres of three films starring the talented actress: “Siege Diary”, “Zoya” and “Incubator”.

Childhood and youth

The future actress was born in the Kalininsky district of what was then Leningrad. The Filonenko family was the most ordinary. None of the family members had anything to do with art and creativity - Polina’s parents were simple workers and worked at a local factory all their lives. The son of the Filonenko couple, Polina’s older brother, Roman, followed in his parents’ footsteps and, having matured, began working at the same enterprise. But Polina’s life path took a completely different direction.

The girl grew up as a perky hooligan. As a primary school student at secondary school No. 162, Filonenko regularly skipped classes, for which, of course, she received punishment from her parents. But the “thrashings” were of no use—Polina had little interest in studying. To the active, restless girl, lessons seemed like a boring pastime - she was not going to pore over textbooks.

Artist by nature

Already in her childhood, the pretty and playful girl began to show remarkable artistic talent. Noticing this, the parents enrolled their nine-year-old daughter in the theater department at the Okhta Center for Humanitarian and Aesthetic Education. Over the next seven years, Filonenko combined receiving secondary education with studying the basics of acting.

Polina Filonenko's childhood and youth

But if the girl liked the extra classes, she still paid minimal attention to her studies at school. As a teenager, Filonenko became a regular at discos and spent all her free time, and sometimes even study time, in noisy, cheerful companies. In high school, Polina began to think about her future. The answer to the question “who should I be?” I didn't have to search long. The girl was firmly convinced that she wanted to become an actress.

This desire helped Filonenko come to his senses and bring his schooling to its logical end - obtaining a certificate. After graduating from school, Polina was going to go to Moscow and enter the capital’s theater university. But a circumstance that she could not foresee interfered with the girl’s plans.

Polina Filonenko now

The actress delights the public with new roles today. In 2021, Polina Filonenko took part in the filming of the films “Odnoklassniki” and “Keys”. In 2021, the premiere of the film “Odnoklassniki: A New Turn” took place.

The film "Keys" was especially memorable for the audience. In this film, the Russian actress played the role of Antonina Khavirova, a lonely girl from the remote village of Klyuchi, who dreams of meeting her betrothed, similar to the hero of her favorite TV series, and going to the sea with him. The girl’s cherished dream is a house by the sea. Antonina has already accumulated funds to realize this goal, because she worked extremely hard in two jobs: during the day as a controller on a train, and at night as a saleswoman in a store.

One day a girl meets a young man whom she really liked, but it turned out that the guy doesn’t need Antonina - he is only interested in the girl’s money. The heroine is saved from the swindler by district police officer Ryumin, who is in love with Antonina, but the woman herself does not have the same feelings for the man.

In this film, Polina Filonenko's partners were prominent representatives of Russian cinema: Vadim Kolganov, Daniil Belykh, Vladimir Eremin, Semyon Morozov, Alexandra Berezovets-Skachkova, Elena Girenok, Alexander Efremov. The film was directed by Olga and Vladimir Basov.

Fans of the actress continue to follow the celebrity’s work, discussing her future in Russian cinema on Instagram and other social networks.

Film and TV projects

Having entered her final year of study, Filonenko brought her portfolio to the legendary Lenfilm film studio, the bulk of which consisted of photographs. After just a couple of weeks, the girl was contacted by the studio and offered to audition for two major projects at once.

The photographs of a student at a theater university, which were placed in the studio file cabinet, caught the eye of employees who were looking for actresses suitable for the roles of Sonya Marmeladova and Lipa in “Crime and Punishment” and “Yara”, respectively. Pretty blue-eyed Polina was the perfect choice for the roles of these heroines. She was the true embodiment of the desired image - a delicate flower, mercilessly trampled by fate. Everything in the girl’s appearance spoke of her fragility and defenselessness - Polina’s appearance never combined with her hooliganism.

Polina Filonenko on the path to success

Aspiring actress Filonenko accepted the filmmakers’ offer and went to Lenfilm . The first auditions were scheduled for the film “Yar” by the famous director M. Razbezhkina based on the prose work of S. A. Yesenin. The student could barely breathe from excitement, but nevertheless, the auditions were successful and Polina was approved for the role.

The same thing was repeated during subsequent auditions for the television film “Crime and Punishment” directed by D. Svetozarov based on the great creation of F. M. Dostoevsky. As soon as he saw Polina, the famous director joyfully announced that he had finally found the one he could not find for so long - a simple, modest charmer with a heavenly look.

But despite this recognition, the girl doubted that she would get this role. Therefore, the news of her approval for the project came as a pleasant surprise for Polina.

From classics to youth drama

The film “Yar”, released in 2007, became the actress’s debut film work. In this project, she played the village girl Lipa, whose difficult fate ends with the sin of suicide. It was very difficult for an inexperienced actress to embody such a character, but she did it “excellently.”

Filmography

“Yar” “Crime and Punishment” “Everyone will die, but I will remain” “Olympius Inferno” “I will return” “Europe-Asia” “I will show you Moscow” “Gromozeka” “Hardcore” “Odnoklassniki”

Polina took her photographs to Lenfilm when she was in her last year at the institute. And after a couple of weeks I received an invitation to audition for two films at once - “Yar” based on the story by Sergei Yesenin and “Crime and Punishment” based on Dostoevsky. After that there was Valeria Gai Germanika’s film “Everyone will die, but I will remain,” where Polina played one of the main roles, then the Cannes Film Festival, the prize for best actress in Brussels...

Polina, have you heard that your fate was determined by your older brother? This is true?

Yes. My brother Roma chose my name - he asked his parents to name me in honor of Polina Viardot.

When you were born, your brother was only four years old. How did he know about Viardot?

I saw a picture of her in one of the magazines that I had at home, and even at the age of four I realized that Pauline Viardot was cool! (Laughs.) Parents, of course, were very surprised. By the way, it was my brother who saw the advertisement for the enrollment of children in the theater department of the Center for Humanitarian and Aesthetic Education. He tore off not a piece with the address and telephone number, but the entire sheet, brought it home and said: “That’s it, Polya will be an actress!” Mom says: “Let’s ask Paulie.” And the brother: “I decided!” So what could I do? I agreed... There was a very tough selection, only 40 people were accepted, and seven years later, at graduation, only five remained. As a child who didn’t show much hope, I was accepted into self-support. A year later, I proved my strength, and I was transferred to the budget. My parents stopped paying for my education, it was a very honor! In this children's center I had a much harder time than later, already at the institute. I didn’t have a childhood, instead I had plowing. Even now my diligence sometimes reaches the point of absurdity.

There were a lot of temptations around, how did you manage to “stay faithful” to your studies?

I can't say that I was that faithful. I was playing hooky. My mother actually wanted to take me away from there, saying that she couldn’t cope with me anyway, that everything was very bad at school.

Behavior or studies?

Studies. Until the age of 14 there were only A's, and then D's and C's started. In ninth grade they wanted to expel me from school altogether. It was disgusting. Of course, I still got an A in literature. I got D's in algebra - that's funny! I finally “sneaked” into the tenth grade and took over the teachers by cunning. She said: you know, I don’t need algebra at all, I’m going to the theater institute, and there will be a certificate competition, let’s not spoil it for me; Imagine, I will pass the competition, but because of your C in algebra, they won’t take me to study what I love - how will you live?! And they gave me a B in algebra. Then I went to teachers in computer science, physics, chemistry... (Smiles.)

You did poorly at school - just like your heroine in the acclaimed film by Valeria Gai Germanika “Everyone will die, but I will stay.”

I think this is normal. When a person has a goal and order in his head, he can try anything and not drown. I knew that I could afford not to study in the ninth and tenth grades, because the eleventh was still ahead, where I could get myself together. I smoked and did other stupid things. Now I regret it - what can you do? This is how we learned about the world. By the way, it was very difficult for Germanika to find an actress for the role of Katya, because most girls from theater institutes in their teens read Dostoevsky and went to the opera house. They didn’t even know how to swear. It was easier for me in this regard: when I tried everything, it was already easy.

Polina, Wikipedia says that you did not go to enroll in Moscow and preferred the School of Russian Drama to them. I. O. Gorbachev in his hometown, because in St. Petersburg you began a whirlwind romance...

I didn’t go to enroll because of love? Probably not. Over the years, I began to understand why I stayed in St. Petersburg. Mom, dad, friends are here, but what should I do in Moscow? Alone, cold and hungry, in a dorm? He was a young man, but now it seems to me that it wasn’t his fault...

Is it because of him that the story circulated on the Internet happened that you cut your wrists?

No. It happened much earlier, in the tenth grade. I myself have never talked about this in my life - the story became public thanks to the director Marina Aleksandrovna Razbezhkina. I came to her to audition for the film “Yar” - where the heroine commits suicide. My first role! The director asks: “Do you think it’s possible to take one’s own life because of some kind of love?” I say: “Of course! Look at my scars!” Then Marina Alexandrovna was asked why she approved me for the role. “Very simple,” she answered, “the girl showed her scars and said that she was ready to play this role”... What does it mean to cut veins in the tenth grade? I wanted to scare everyone... I saw blood: “Ugh, what disgusting thing for me to do something like that because of love!”

That is, you didn’t get your first role because of your angelic appearance.

I came to the first auditions in my life, not yet understanding that directors are essentially cynics. They pull different strings, trying to understand what kind of person you are. I started crying, telling how my life was going, why someone was leaving me there, and so on. Marina Alexandrovna was discouraged by this; she did not expect such a reaction. They took me for my naivety and, probably, for my agile psychophysics, because I went from laughing to crying in a couple of seconds.

You became famous thanks to the film “Everyone Dies, But I’ll Stay”...

I wouldn't say that. The role of Sonya Marmeladova in “Crime and Punishment” gave me a lot - fame came in St. Petersburg with this picture. It’s not that I became a media character, but I started appearing in fashion magazines and glossy magazines. This is a different world, a different profession - very interesting. Germanika's film brought me not so much popularity as the respect of my colleagues. Many people began to treat me as a serious actress, they already talk differently. During auditions they ask: where did you film? Hearing the name Dostoevsky, they begin to look differently, and after mentioning the film Germanika, the dialogue goes something like this: “Who did you play there?!” - "Hello! The main role." - “So it was you? But I didn’t recognize you!” The tests immediately stop, and a conversation begins as equals.

You once said that you refuse to act in TV series, but prefer auteur films, because you “like going to festivals, going to Cannes and standing next to Robert De Niro”...

I don't know a person who says such things. Either I have a split personality, or schizophrenia, or senile insanity! I didn’t dream of auteur cinema as such; I wasn’t expecting arthouse cinema when I entered this profession. For me, the apogee of cinematic thought is “9th Company” and Fyodor Bondarchuk. I want to act in such a movie! I’m not ready to tear my soul apart for two and a half spectators, even very smart ones. I’m not giving up on TV series in general, but I don’t want to take part in terrible, initially failed films.

Do you have a special relationship with war-themed films?

Yes. I really like Soviet cinema; my favorite film since childhood is “The Dawns Here Are Quiet.” It seems to me that now there is not enough patriotism, there are few people who are ready to rush into battle for their Motherland with burning eyes...

Do you think a lack of patriotism is typical of your generation?

I don't understand the boundaries of my generation. It seems to me that the generation before us was tougher, somehow lost. The next generation really comes after us - they no longer drink or smoke at all... But we are neither here nor there: not drug addicts, not drunks, and at the same time not maximalists, not aesthetes. It seems to me that we are normal, ordinary in a good sense. Honestly, I can’t name people my age who would turn the world upside down and burn...

Polina, on your VKontakte page you have five dollar signs between your first and last names... What does this mean?

And when I registered there, my computer couldn’t create other icons! I was the twenty-seventh of those who registered on VKontakte. Then clones began to appear, and I left these icons as an identification mark. My status also says: “I need money, the rest, sorry, comedy.” So this is from Gorky - we were playing a play, and my beloved friend Lenya said this phrase in such a way that the whole course fell. Of course, I think about money, after all, I’m a worldly person. (Smiles.)

How do you feel about shopping?

That's all I live for. (Laughs.) Andrey, my boyfriend, swears. I dress differently, it all depends on my mood. Except for the bags - they have to be Louis Vuitton. This is not only a fad, but also a necessity: bags of this brand can be filled with things, thrown on a plane or train, and nothing will happen to them.

A new film with your participation, “The Habit of Parting,” is coming out. How do you feel about breakups? Easily. It seems to me that people who leave you are simply unworthy of you. Those who value you cannot leave. I myself never leave - I can’t, it doesn’t work out. This applies to both friendship and love.

Are you monogamous?

This is my young man who is monogamous, I can’t escape him. (Smiles.) Recently I thought about how many years we have been together. It's almost seven. This shocked me! We don't spend so much time together that we get bored of each other. He has an automobile business, but for me it is a dense forest, just like my profession for him. At home we almost never discuss work. Only occasionally. When one of us needs to speak out, the other sits silently, not understanding anything, and nods from time to time...

Are you not interested in your wife's status yet? There’s no time for everything. The wedding must be held in the summer, in a certain month. It all depends on the harvest; in August-September there is something to put on the table...

Unexpected arguments for a city girl. Yes, I believe in omens. We definitely won’t have a wedding until next summer. We are already laughing that our hypothetical son will go into the army and return, and we will still be preparing for the wedding. Andrey and I have an apartment and a country house. Now we are fitting into the construction site, we will build a nest. Although I have the following schedule: from Monday to Wednesday I am in St. Petersburg, the rest of the days I am in Moscow with its hotels.

Polina, your roles are very diverse. Do you often change your image in life? How many hypostases do you have? There is Polina the blonde. This is when I'm driving a car and it suddenly breaks down. There is Polina, who is depressed. Today, for example, I left the house - there was no sun, I was driving and I thought: life is meaningless! It’s good that my work allows me to get rid of such thoughts. What if I worked in a factory or in a library? I would definitely commit suicide, depression would eat me up. And here you have to get ready for shooting - you get ready and do it. As in Boyarsky’s song: “But when I don’t want to go into the cage, I say “up” to myself and take a step.” It's about me. (Smiles.)

Off set

No matter how many outstanding roles Polina Filonenko plays, the actress’s personal life will be of interest to her fans and ordinary viewers no less than her new works. Filonenko is not legally married, but her heart is not free. In romantic relationships, the artist, who calls herself very amorous, is surprisingly constant.

Polina Filonenko's life outside the film set

For a long time, Polina has been in a relationship with one young man. Filonenko's beloved name is Andrey. For many years they were just friends, but at some point their attitude towards each other changed, and now they have been together for the eleventh year. The couple has not yet officially registered their feelings. However, the absence of a stamp in her passport does not prevent Polina from considering Andrei her real husband.

He has nothing to do with the art world, which the actress considers a big plus. According to Polina, Andrei is not jealous and takes her frequent departures due to work absolutely normally - and this is also a plus. After all, if Filonenko’s chosen one turned out to be jealous, it is not known what Polina would prefer - her loved one or her favorite job, without which, according to the actress, she is no longer she.

Personal life

As the artist admits, love plays a huge role in her life. She is an amorous person and cannot imagine existence without romantic feelings. However, for now, Polina Filonenko’s personal life is not a top priority. The actress “splashes out” accumulated emotions and unspent love on stage or on the set. She believes that this will help in her future family life, which, after the storm of emotions left at work, will turn into a quiet haven.

In her free time, Polya likes to go to the sauna and chat with friends, of whom she has a huge number.
