Personal territory of Polina Kutepova
“Red, Honest, in Love”
brought national fame to the Kutepov twin sisters .
Ksenia and Polina have an older sister, Zlata
, who was the first to become interested in theater, and this greatly influenced the choice of the younger girls.
Studying at a theater studio and film school, at the age of 10 Polina found herself on a film set
, and by the end of school she already had four full-length films in her baggage. Both girls were already ready for acting. Although now Polina claims that if they had failed to do so the first time, perhaps their path would have been completely different.
And at the actual admission to GITIS
the fact that there are two Kutepovs has become the talk of the town.
One might say, they didn’t want to take two identical actresses, but the future master of Ksenia and Polina, Pyotr Fomenko,
decided in his own way. Many people dream of ending up in Fomenko’s studio, although he is considered one of the most domineering directors who demands strict adherence to his rules. Nevertheless, both Kutepovs settled down perfectly in his theater, where they still serve.
In choosing film projects, Kutepova is perhaps one of the most demanding actresses, fundamentally not acting in commercials or participating in television shows that are not directly related to acting. However, the actress does not experience a shortage of offers. Throughout Kutepov’s creative life, starting with Yungvald-Khilkevich
, has been filmed more than once by
Georgy Danelia, Alexey Uchitel, Yuri Moroz
and other recognized directors.
In her personal life, the actress is also picky, but she chose her companion in her youth, and this choice is still not in doubt. Polina Kutepova is married to director Evgeniy Kamenkovich
from early youth, their
daughter Nadezhda is twenty years old.
Polina Kutepova holds the title of Honored Artist of Russia
, is a laureate of the
“Chaika”
and winner of the
“Golden Aries”
for his contribution to cinema.

Childhood and youth
The future sought-after film actress and prima of the Fomenko Workshop was born on August 1, 1971, 20 minutes later than her sister Ksenia. By that time, in the family of her parents, who had the serious profession of “astrophysicist engineer,” the eldest daughter, Zlata, by 2 years, was already growing up.
Polina Kutepova and her twin sister Ksyusha
She had a huge impact on the formation of the creative inclinations and aesthetic tastes of her sisters, being crazy about the theater and being an unconditional authority for the girls. Later she graduated from the directing department of the Institute of Culture, but worked not in the theater, but on television.
Polina Kutepova with her sister Zlata
Polya grew up as a shy child, but, by her own admission, she often got into fights. Both she and Ksyusha had to participate in home performances organized by Zlata. Under the influence of their older sister, they went to humanitarian school No. 67, where she studied, and studied in the song and dance ensemble named after. Loktev in the Palace of Pioneers on the Lenin Hills.
At first, the charming red-haired twins went to choir, then to choreography, then they entered film school. They danced as part of the ensemble for more than seven years and took part in performances on the stage of the Kremlin Palace and the Bolshoi Theater. That's where filmmakers noticed them.
Polina Kutepova with her sister, niece, mother and daughter
In 1981, the sisters played in the musical comedy “Where Will He Go!” with Nina Ruslanova, Mikhail Boyarsky, Yuri Antonov. In the same year, the dramatic film “Vasily and Vasilisa” was released, based on the book by Valentin Rasputin. They played the daughters of the main characters performed by Olga Ostroumova and Mikhail Kononov. Then Polina, together with her sister, took part in the TV show “Alarm Clock”, playing in the play “Alika’s Adventures in Imagination”.

And three years later, Leonid Nechaev, the director of “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Pinocchio,” called them to Minsk to shoot in the children’s film “Red, Honest, in Love” based on the works of the Swedish writer Jan Olof Ekholm. They got the roles of the fox-sisters of the central character, the little fox Ludwig (Denis Zaitsev), and their parents were played by Ekaterina Vasilyeva and Albert Filozov. In the same year, the young artists, who had already gained popularity, were also involved in the film-play “You won’t get bored with us.”

In 1988, the girls received certificates and submitted documents to the GITIS Theater Institute. The admissions committee was not impressed by their duet performance of one of Daniil Kharms’s comic poems, but, thanks to Pyotr Naumovich Fomenko, who saw acting in them, they entered and then became successful in the profession, receiving recognition and many awards.
They graduated from the university in 1993 and remained to work in the Workshop of their teacher, whom they idolized.
Childhood and adolescence
Ksenia is a native Muscovite, born and raised in a family of astrophysics engineers.
She was not born alone, but in company with her twin sister Polina, who is fifteen minutes younger than our heroine. The appearance of twins was a surprise not only for the parents, but also for three-year-old Zlata, their eldest daughter. The girl was looking forward to her sister and was terribly happy when there were two of them at once. She took care of the red babies, who looked like two peas in a pod, played with them, dressed them up like dolls, and when the girls grew up, she began organizing home performances with their participation. Ksenia still remembers with laughter her first appearance on stage, which took place in the attic of an old dacha.
Ksenia and Polina Kutepova in childhood
Her father’s influence in the family was strong, so Ksenia preferred boyish fun to playing with dolls and other “girly” entertainment, and grew up as an active and hooligan child. The twins did not allow themselves to be insulted and could always stand up for themselves.
Despite all the tricks of Zlata, who was fanatically passionate about the theater, Ksenia and Polina preferred to take up singing and choreography. When the sisters turned 6 years old, the mother took her daughters to the dance ensemble named after Loktev, to which the twins devoted seven years. At the same time, the girls attended a film school under the direction of Alla Stepanova at the Palace of Pioneers.
Ksenia Kutepova with her sister Polina
One day, the red-haired twins caught the eye of assistants from Mosfilm, who were looking for children to film a new film. This is how the Kutepov sisters (all three) first appeared on the screen, playing the children of the main characters in the serious dramatic film “Vasily and Vasilisa” (1981). Ksenia and Polina were included in the Mosfilm file and began to be invited to filming quite often. By the time she graduated, our heroine already had five film works under her belt, including the main role in the musical film-play “Alika’s Adventures in Imagination” (1987). Teachers were sympathetic to frequent absences.
Ksenia Kutepova in her youth
It is not surprising that the Kutepov sisters gradually began to think about the acting profession. In the ninth grade, they transferred to a school with in-depth study of humanities and began to diligently prepare for admission to GIGIS.
The Kutepov sisters in their youth
With their appearance, they shocked the members of the admissions committee, who did not understand what to do with two completely identical applicants. And only the brilliant Pyotr Fomenko, who was a teacher at the directing department and was then taking his course, saw how different they were. Ksenia Kutepova about acting After talking with the girls more closely, he became even more convinced of the correctness of his opinion and took his sisters to his workshop. From that moment on – it was 1988 – Ksenia and Polina began to develop as two independent creative units, although they remained the closest people to each other.
Theater
Already from the second year of study, Polina appeared on the stage of the P. Fomenko Workshop theater, subsequently playing dozens of diverse roles. In tandem with her sister, she was involved in the productions of “Three Sisters”, “Wolves and Sheep”, “The Sound and the Fury”, etc.

A true breakthrough and a brilliant creative experiment for the artist was the play “Ulysses” based on the prose of her favorite Irish writer James Joyce with a forty-minute monologue of her heroine Molly. For playing this role in 2010, she received the Golden Mask Award.
Movies
According to the actress, if Pyotr Fomenko determined her creative destiny in the theater, then director Georgy Danelia became a key figure for her in cinema. In 1993, Polina Kutepova made her debut in the leading role in his comedy “Nastya”. Together with the young artist, the stars Alexander Abdulov, Evgeny Leonov, and Nina Grebeshkova were involved in the film. The director appreciated the talent of the debutante, who played the funny saleswoman-dreamer, and after 2 years again invited her to play the main role in the film adaptation of Vladimir Makanin’s story “On First Breath.” The film was released under the title “Heads and Tails.” For the role of Zina Prishchepkina, the actress was awarded the Gatchina Film Festival "Aries" award.

Biography of the Kutepov sisters
They owe much of their success to their family and good teachers who appeared on their life path at the right time.
Parents
The girls were born into a family of astrophysics engineers. The father was strict and at the same time loving, always finding time to study with his daughters.
It was thanks to his influence that the future actress Kutepova Polina and Ksenia preferred to misbehave than to dress up in dresses or play with dolls.
Childhood
Active and curious girls always stayed together and did not allow themselves to be offended. Those who were not closely acquainted with him could not even imagine that terrible timidity was hidden behind this behavior.
The sisters were very embarrassed to ask even the simplest question to a stranger, so they established a sequence and tried not to break it.
Their older sister Zlata instilled in them an interest in theater. She organized home performances for them, and then began to involve them in productions. Despite their sincere interest in acting, at the age of 6, Polina and Ksenia chose to study in a dance ensemble rather than a theater group.
The meeting with representatives of Mosfilm happened by chance. The girls were able not only to attract attention, but also to successfully audition for roles in the film “Vasily and Vasilisa.” After this, the sisters were often invited to work on the set, which did not stop them from taking their studies seriously and finishing school well.
Youth
By the time they graduated from school, Ksenia and Polina already had experience of successfully working in five films, so they had no doubt about which university to apply to.
They decided to go against all the rules and appeared before the selection committee together. At that moment, only Pyotr Fomenko, who convinced his colleagues to enroll the Kutepovs in the first year, was able to discern how different the red-haired girls were, and he was not mistaken.
Training became a real test of strength; the girls repeatedly tried to give up and give up their dreams. The only thing that kept them from making this decision was the support of their mentor and the ability not to abandon each other even in the most difficult situations.
Now they say that their student years were still a wonderful time when they not only revealed their creative potential, but also learned to appreciate and understand each other better.
Creative path
Her first film work began at the age of 10; later the sisters began to talk about these roles as frivolous. They also did not refuse to play in school theater productions.
After completing their studies at GITIS, the Kutepovs began to apply their acquired knowledge in practice in different ways:
- Polina Kutepova immediately found herself in cinema. She was remembered by the viewer after the release of the film “Nastya” by Georgy Danelia. The next striking work was the film “Heads and Tails,” which premiered in 1995. In 2002, she received the Crystal Turandot award for her work.
- Ksenia at this time was actively mastering the theater stage. She regularly participated in productions, becoming a permanent member of Fomenko’s troupe. Since 2008, the performances have become permanent, and Kutepova was involved in those that became the main ones in the theater. She deservedly received the title of best actress in 1996. In 2000, her talent was officially recognized with the Stanislavsky Prize.
In the 2000s, Ksenia also began acting in films, and the sisters began to meet more often on the theater stage. In 2009, they were offered to play the roles of nuns, but Polina starred in the film “Pelagia and the White Bulldog”, and Ksenia in “Spring is Coming”. The directors did not regret their choice; both films received recognition from the audience.
Since 2011, Polina began to refuse offers more often, agreeing to play only interesting characters whose image was written deeply, as happened with “The House of the Wind” and “The Fourth”. At the same time, the actress works on television, voices cartoon characters and even released her own audio tales.
The cinematic works of Ksenia Kutepova are mostly associated with the name of her husband. Together they worked on the creation of “The Guy from Mars”, “Natural Phenomena”, but this does not mean that she is not interested in the projects of other directors, as confirmed by “Dali’s Dance”, filmed by Ivan Vyrypaev. She also liked working on the set of “Territory.”
The opportunity to appear together again in the frame of “Dead Lake” helped the actresses to once again show off their talent and delight fans with their original, deep performance.

The actress is married to her former teacher, RITI professor Evgeniy Kamenkovich. He is 17 years older than Polina. In 2012, he became the artistic director of the Fomenko Workshop.
Evgeny Kamenkovich - husband of Polina Kutepova
Together they raised their only daughter, Nadezhda, who was born in 1997. She became a student at the Higher School of Economics, choosing to major in international relations, which her mother was very happy about.
Polina compared her family to a ship, where her husband is the sail, a constant generator of crazy plans and incredible ideas, and she is the anchor. If it weren’t for her, he would have flown into the heavens, but if it weren’t for him, she would have lain at the bottom all her life, but together they successfully stay afloat.
Polina Kutepova with her daughter
Polina loves listening to classical music and reading Thomas Mann and James Joyce. She is interested in growing orchids, and from trips abroad she always brings back stereoscopic photographs of the early twentieth century.
Personal life of the Kutepov sisters
It's time to remember your older sister Zlata. After school, she tried to enroll in the acting department, but was unsuccessful. Later she studied to become a director at the Institute of Culture. She worked for some time on television, tried herself in directing and journalism. Sometimes she and her sisters participate in some projects as an organizer and director. She hasn’t lost a bit of her business acumen. Zlata has a daughter, Marfa.
Polina also gave birth to a daughter, Nadezhda, from her husband Evgeniy Kamenkovich, who now holds the post of artistic director of the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop. They have been together for a very long time; Evgeny was the Kutepovs’ teacher at GITIS. He is 17 years older than his wife. Their now adult daughter, despite the fact that she starred in several films as a child, chose a different specialty - international relations.

Ksenia married director Sergei Osipyan. They have a son Vasily (now he is 17 years old) and a daughter Lydia (she is 14). By the way, Ksenia is the only one of the sisters who gave birth to a son. Otherwise, it would be an absolutely wonderful “woman’s kingdom” in two generations.
Ksenia Kutepova with her husband Sergei Osipyan and children
Ksenia’s son, as expected, bears her husband’s surname - Osipyan, but she gave her daughter her surname. Let at least someone in the family remain Kutepova. Perhaps the children will decide to continue the acting dynasty.
Both sisters continue to work actively in the theater, and this year they starred in several long-awaited film projects.
Polina Kutepova now
In 2021, the Fomenko Workshop resumed the play “Egyptian Nights,” which is an attempt at improvisation on a historical theme. The actress in it exchanges the stiffness of Pushkin's Princess Volskaya for the sensuality of the Egyptian queen Cleopatra.
