Steve Jobs himself suggested that journalist Walter Isaacson write this book when he already knew the terrible diagnosis. The biography of the “father of the digital revolution” was created with his direct participation, but Jobs avoided any control over the content: as a result, the book turned out to be extremely honest and unbiased. In 2011, Sony Pictures acquired the rights to film adaptation of Isaacson's absolute bestseller. Walter Isaacson's book "Steve Jobs" is based on conversations with Steve Jobs himself, as well as with his relatives, friends, enemies, rivals and colleagues. Jobs had no control over the author. He answered all questions frankly and expected the same honesty from others. This is a story about a life full of ups and downs, about a strong man and a talented businessman who was one of the first to understand: to succeed in the 21st century, you need to combine creativity and technology. The book was published in the United States in October 2011.

Mahatma Gandhi considered Leo Tolstoy his spiritual teacher, and Vladimir Putin would really like to talk to Gandhi himself, as he told reporters in 2007. Why is Gandhi rightly called the “titan of the 20th century”? One of the leaders and ideologists of the movement for Indian independence from Great Britain, he developed the theory of “non-violent revolution”. It had a huge influence on supporters of peaceful change and ultimately led to victory: the liberation of India from the British in 1947. Later, the experience of the “nonviolent revolution” was successfully applied in a number of other countries. In the book presented to your attention, Mahatma Gandhi talks about his life and struggle, and also presents the main provisions of his ideology.

Lev Danilkin, "Yuri Gagarin".

@kassandrakniga

Publisher: Young Guard

Age restrictions: 12+

Polls show that Yuri Gagarin is the main hero of Russian history of the 20th century. It is all the more surprising that for many years in Russia an adequate - frank, objective, tied to modernity - biography of the first cosmonaut has not been created. “Yuri Gagarin” by Lev Danilkin is an attempt at a “final”, if possible, closing all the gaps in the biography of the “red Icarus”; the most complete chronicle of life to date - and an understanding of what the myth of Gagarin and the idea of “Gagarin” represent. Interviews with eyewitnesses and a total revision of Russian and foreign sources helped the author answer basic questions. Is Gagarin just an embodiment of Soviet design - or did he actually have some unique qualities? What really happened on April 12, 1961? How did the first cosmonaut cope with “gagarinomania” - the status of the most famous person on the planet? What is Gagarin: a product of the system and era - or its mirror and justification? Was there a conflict between him and the political leadership of the USSR? What is the real reason for his death? Was his success just luck, the result of deliberate life-building - or the implementation of some higher plan? What would have happened to Gagarin and the USSR if the “first citizen of the Universe” had not died in March 1968 and had he lived to this day? The book is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first space flight.

Michael White and John Gribin, Stephen Hawking. Life among the stars."

Ozon.ru

Publisher: AST

Age restrictions: 12+

The history of the scientist and personal biography are combined in this book to make a complete story about an outstanding person. Stephen Hawking was an unusual physicist: he perhaps did more than many other academics to expand our lay understanding of the laws of the universe. His theoretical studies of the nature of black holes and original speculations about the origin of the cosmos placed new emphasis in the field of general knowledge: theoretical physics came into the spotlight for the first time. Upon the publication of A Brief History of Time, his name became known to everyone: despite the complexity and intricacy of cosmology, the book sold millions of copies around the world. Stephen Hawking was confined to a wheelchair for most of his life due to a rare motor neurone disease, but this did not break him intellectually. Some even hold the opinion that, freed from everyday worries, he was finally able to focus on research and calculations. Michael White and John Gribbin managed to maintain a balance between the two sides of the protagonist's personality and paint a verbal portrait of a tireless genius who knew no boundaries.

Alexander Zatsepin “A moment between the past and the future”

“Even in his best years, the press wrote very little about him. His face very rarely appeared in newspapers, he did not go to cinema and variety parties, did not go on tour, did not appear on television: it was a pity to waste time. Instead of all this, he composed music with pleasure...” Yuri Rogozin said about him. And every person in our country knows what kind of music he wrote. “Wait, Locomotive”, “Song about Bears”, “If I Were a Sultan”, “Song about Hares”, “Island of Bad Luck”, “Film, Film, Film” are familiar to almost everyone. " Composer Alexander Sergeevich Zatsepin, the author of music for the most popular films and songs, is an unusually versatile, interesting, and very positive person. His book, dedicated to the life, work and, of course, music of the maestro, as his friends call him, is just as interesting and positive, and it is also frank, sincere and very emotional. Here readers will find fascinating stories told with humor about life, film and pop stars, domestic and foreign directors and actors - from Leonid Gaidai, Yuri Nikulin and Alla Pugacheva to Claudia Cardinale and Sean Connery. Each episode attracted millions of viewers to their TV screens, and the satirically drawn and skillfully performed characters were recognizable and loved. The Eksmo publishing house is releasing a new autobiographical book by the famous Russian actor, master of parodies, People's Artist of Russia Yuri Stoyanov, where he tells what happened on the set and behind the scenes of the theater, what disappointments and obstacles he had to go through to become the favorites of a huge country and not to lose optimism and a sense of humor, and much more, which until now only relatives and colleagues knew about... “Town” appeared on domestic television when there was neither censorship nor political correctness. The humorous program, which conquered television for 19 years, became a new word in Russian show business in the dashing 90s; it was one of the first to master the format of sketches and parodies, as well as “hidden camera” gags. Yuri Stoyanov and Ilya Oleynikov were very popular, their variety acts, dramatic performances, films and TV series gained nationwide fame. Victor Gusev “Nefartovy”

Everyone in our country knows Victor Gusev. This is the most famous sports journalist in Russia, a popular TV presenter, commentator on Channel One, who took part in several television shows, filming, and charity events. Due to the frequent unsuccessful outcome of matches commented by Viktor Gusev, fans often call him “unfortunate.” However, his amazing life, full of adventures and extraordinary events, which included prestigious awards, studying in America, working in the NHL with a legendary coach, a rescue expedition in Antarctica, and even a war in Africa, proves exactly the opposite. Viktor Gusev talks about all this and more in his first book “Nefartovy”. It is luck that accompanies Viktor Gusev throughout his life. At the moment when the platform at the airport collapsed under him, and a bag thrown over his shoulder saved him from serious injuries to his spine. When, as a military translator, he spent two years in the war in Ethiopia and returned home safely, receiving the medal “For Military Merit.” During the years of the Iron Curtain, he happened to study at an American university. And when, as a boy, he was taken to one of the prestigious schools, and after the words of the teacher: “We have a special school. We train future translators, journalists, and generally public people who know how to communicate. Perhaps even with a large audience. Your son does not have these qualities. You’d better choose something simpler,” they still left her to study there. His destiny is a series of successful coincidences, amazing events and meetings when one can fully demonstrate one’s talent and truly achieve success. Maybe that’s why he has three TEFI statuettes under his belt, work at 15 Olympics, including the famous one of the 1980s, 13 world and European football championships, historical tours with the Dynamo and CSKA hockey clubs, rescuing seal pups in Antarctica, publishing a ship’s newspaper and the first football magazine, an intimate candlelight evening with Pele, a fall from a cliff in “The Last Hero” and much more. Such is the lucky life of the “unlucky” Viktor Gusev.
