At first, things went well in the capital. The guy studied at the directing department of GITIS, played in the crowd of the Lenkom Theater. Baturin was sure that he would soon be invited to a familiar theater and his career would immediately take off. But everything happened exactly the opposite. The main director and artistic director Mark Anatolyevich Zakharov became seriously ill, and the Lenkom administration did not find a place for the aspiring actor in the troupe.

Having received such a blow, Yuri did not even take his diploma and decided to give up his profession. But since there was not the slightest desire to return home, I had to take on any job: as a bartender, administrator, driver, truck driver.

All these activities brought income, but not inner satisfaction. The situation gradually began to change for the better when his wife Irina, looking at the torment of her loved one, decided to take on the duties of his personal agent. In the early 2000s, Baturin managed to star in the films “The Charm of Evil”, “Airport 2”, “Countdown”, but only in episodic roles.
