Famous directors Svetlana Druzhinina, Murad Ibragimbekov, Victor Merezhko are interested in the artist. To see Vladimir on stage, theaters in St. Petersburg and Moscow line up. But it’s a paradox: knowing the characters’ faces, the audience does not remember the performer’s last name.

Childhood and youth

Vladimir Koshevoy is Russian by nationality, born in Riga in 1976 in the family of a naval officer. Moreover, the Koshevo dynasty of military personnel includes many generations: both grandfathers and both great-grandfathers of Vladimir devoted their lives to the army. But since childhood he dreamed of the theater stage.

The childhood stage of Vladimir Koshevoy’s biography does not contain lines about studying in a drama club or theater studio. But from an early age the boy was accustomed to good literature and quality performances. Great-grandmother Nina Yakovlevna took care of literary tastes, who knew how to read in the original not only foreign authors, but also ancient Russian literature in the Old Church Slavonic language. And my grandmother Larisa Grigorievna instilled a love for the theater, having collected a unique video library of films and programs.

When the future artist was still small, his father was transferred to Moscow, where he lived in a hostel on Bolshaya Pirogovskaya Street. Vladimir Koshevoy wanted to be an actor since childhood, but his parents sharply objected to this path. At their insistence, the young man becomes a cadet at the Moscow Military University. However, Koshevoy could not continue the dynasty - the very idea of an army was alien to him. After the military man, another university appears in the biography of Vladimir Koshevoy, Moscow State University, where the guy graduates from the Faculty of Journalism.

However, he was not destined to become a journalist either. While still in his 3rd year, Vladimir entered GITIS, into the acting workshop of Mikhail Skandarov. As a result, he has 3 higher educations, but only the last one brought satisfaction to the young man. Koshevoy discovers the world of the stage thanks to the “Theatrical Partnership 814”, then there were the theater named after N.V. Gogol, the theater, and the Bolshoi Drama Theater named after G. A. Tovstonogov.

In addition to working on the stage and in cinema, the artist records music tracks based on poems by Russian poets, voices cartoons and audio books. Koshevoy also took part in an unusual project: he “played” the Master in a huge photo exhibition based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita.” French photographer Jean-Daniel Laurier created this work, each frame of which illustrates the legendary work and, as it were, guides the viewer through the entire book. The photo show was a great success both in Moscow and Paris.

The path to art

Volodya was born into the family of a naval officer on September 1, 1976 in the Baltic city of Riga. According to all the canons, the guy had to follow in his father’s footsteps, especially since both grandfathers and great-grandfathers also devoted their lives to military affairs.

And yet this did not happen. Great-grandmother Nina Yakovlevna and grandmother Larisa Grigorievna took part in raising the baby. The first knew the Old Church Slavonic language, read foreign literature in the original, and was interested in ancient Russian culture. She also introduced her great-grandson to this, but it was her grandmother who instilled a love for the theater.

When the time came to choose a profession, my father insisted on entering a military university. The parent did not want to see the heir on the theater stage, and Vladimir did not dare to disobey. The young man graduated from the educational institution, but a military career did not interest him at all.

In 1996, Koshevoy entered Moscow State University to study journalism, but three years later he became a student at GITIS. He learned his acting skills and experience from the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation M. V. Skandarov.

Movies

The filmography of Vladimir Koshevoy began to fill up when he was still studying at GITIS. The young actor simultaneously starred in several film projects, of which special attention should be paid to the drama “Instead of Me” with Oleg Strizhenov and Sergei Bezrukov, the detective story “Maroseyka, 12” and the historical film “Secrets of Palace Coups. Russia, XVIII century." Later, Vladimir Koshevoy’s films included important roles in the war film “One Another’s Life,” the detective story “The Secret Guard” and the historical and biographical drama “The Moon at its Zenith,” in which he portrayed Lev Gumilyov, the husband of Anna Akhmatova.

In the series “Taxi Driver,” the actor’s character is a young man who joined the ranks of skinheads. However, the everyday life of a fascist organization changes his worldview. Unable to withstand the psychological stress, the hero becomes addicted to drugs and in the end kills the gang leader.

All-Russian popularity came to Koshevoy after the image of Rodion Raskolnikov in the TV series “Crime and Punishment.” The actor admits that after such success, many new scripts and invitations to various talent shows for stars poured in, but he refused everyone, because he was waiting for something just as heartfelt and serious. As a result, being left without acting work for some period of time, Vladimir was even forced to work part-time at a construction site. But soon he agreed to the main role in the crime saga “Fighter. The Birth of a Legend" and returned to his profession.

Later, the talented artist appeared in the action-packed psychological melodrama “Mayakovsky. Two Days”, melodrama “Underground Passage”, medical series “Emergency”, thriller “Dangerous Delusion”. A new round of popularity for Koshevoy was given by the historical drama “Grigory R.”, in which he portrayed Prince Felix Yusupov, considered the murderer of Grigory Rasputin. By the way, Vladimir played this character for the second time, because back in 2007 he tried on the life of Yusupov in the film “Conspiracy”.

In the film “Grandfather Ivan and Sanka” Koshevoy worked together with Valery Garkalin. Later he recalled that there was a feeling of celebration on the set, and the actors laughed non-stop. Garkalin started filming with ice cream, believing that this way the day would be successful and there would be more joy.

Project “Sonka. Continuation of the Legend” was remembered by the artists for the fact that Koshevoy almost became a patient in the psychiatric clinic where the film was filmed. Vladimir got so accustomed to the role of the self-absorbed Rokotov that the head doctor was already going to escort him to the room.

In the social drama “Farmer,” the artist played an incorruptible police detective, promoting the case of the former mayor of the city, who became the head of a criminal clan. This role was played by Oleg Basilashvili. He will meet the master of cinema Kosheva in the film “We Didn’t Expect”, released in 2021.

Another film by Vladimir Koshevoy was released at the end of 2016. We are talking about the detective-melodramatic story “Heart of Stone”, in which the actor collaborates with Ekaterina Volkova. Colleagues studied at the same theater university, and the young man was in absentia in love with a spectacular girl. Perhaps Koshevoy’s old feelings helped the artists so successfully transform into heroes.

The film “Hotel Rossiya” took viewers back to the era of the 70s, when the lives of Soviet citizens were invisibly watched by the eye of the KGB. The presence of people in civilian clothes within the walls of a hotel receiving foreigners was mandatory. In the film, where spy passions were intertwined with love ones, Vladimir played the role of chess player Voskresensky.

Theater and cinema

The first performances with the participation of Vladimir Koshevoy were seen by the audience of “Theatrical Partnership 814”. Soon the management of the theater named after. N. Gogol invited a talented artist to the troupe. Then he played on stage at the Bolshoi Drama Theater. G. Tovstonogov.

Among the theatrical characters, the brightest: Alexey Ivanovich - “The Gambler” (F. Dostoevsky), Gunn - “Kitchen”, Senya - “Who is Last for Love”, Guido Bardi - “The Florentine Tragedy”, Ferdinand the Cat - “Mistress Blizzard”, I. Dzhugashvili - “The Birth of Stalin”, etc.

The actor’s creative film biography begins with participation in the life film “Instead of Me.” The main characters were played by Oleg Strizhenov, Sergei Bezrukov, Irina Apeksimova. At the same time, he took part in the filming of the detective story “Maroseyka, 12” and the action movie “Special Case”.

Before getting the main role in the war film “Your Alien Life” (2004), Koshevoy played about two dozen characters, all of them in the background. Real success and recognition awaited the actor ahead. In 2007, director Dmitry Svetozarov began filming a television series based on the famous novel by F. M. Dostoevsky “Crime and Punishment”, and approved Koshevoy for the role of the main character Rodion Raskolnikov.

After such powerful and serious work, Vladimir was waiting for new proposals, and they were, but not at all interesting. Many popular show programs wanted to have a talented actor, but Koshevoy refused them too, he did not want to waste his money.

After some time, he was approved for the role of Gerald in the adventure film “Fighter. The Birth of a Legend,” he also starred in the crime film “Confession of the Devil.” Then there was forced downtime for a couple of years, but in 2010 he got off to a good start: in the animated feature film “Little Tragedies” he played the White Duke, the drama “Sonka. Continuation of the legend" - Rokotov", the action-packed film "Mayakovsky. Two days" - Kamensky.

In subsequent years, Vladimir Koshevoy was involved in 6-7 projects at once; we will list the most striking works: the mysticism “The Beauharnais Effect” - Maximilian, the biographical film “Gregory R.” – Prince Yusupov/Count Sumarokov-Elston, drama “Emergency” – surgeon Gorin, melodrama “Heart of Stone” – neurologist Leontyev, life film “Mama” – Novel, action film “Five Minutes of Silence. Personal life

The personal life of Vladimir Koshevoy is a closed topic. In a recent interview, the actor said that he read Andrei Konchalovsky’s books with interest, but would never be so frank. Vladimir is a closed person by type, a lone wolf. He rarely lets anyone into his inner world. My small social circle consists mainly of friends whom I have known since childhood.

Koshevoy had several romances, quite long ones, but the artist does not name a single name of his lovers. Perhaps because not a single romantic relationship ended in a wedding, although, as the actor notes, such an event was likely.

Koshevoy, by his own admission, simply ran away from one such novel.

“I don’t like being perceived as a money bag - they demand diamonds and yachts, when they control every step, when they make claims.”

Vladimir does not want to fit into generally accepted patterns, either in life or in his work.

The social status of the future wife is not important, nor is age. The chosen one may turn out to be “300 years younger or 800 older.” The main thing is that she loves children. Before Koshevoy’s eyes is an example of a parental relationship in which the mother is 100% focused on the father, living with his thoughts, leisure, and health. Lately, Vladimir has been inclined to think that he may not start a family until he “plays enough and jumps.”

Vladimir’s aristocratic appearance, despite his not very tall height of 176 cm, is liked by photographers. The artist’s interviews for glossy publications are invariably accompanied by photographs in which Koshevoy, dressed in no matter what suit, gives the impression of an intellectual. The actor does not cause problems for the make-up artists either. Vladimir’s face is so plastic that one lighting is enough for the man to turn into Quasimodo or a handsome man.

Posts on Instagram are proof of this. The movie star receives enthusiastic comments, paying tribute not only to his acting talent, but also to his sense of humor. Vladimir responds to some followers. In addition to this social network, Koshevoy has a Facebook page, fan and official websites.

lone wolf

Vladimir Koshevoy does not want to talk about his personal life. While studying at the theater institute, he was in love with Ekaterina Volkova, with whom he still maintains friendly relations. The actor had several loves, but Vladimir does not name the names of his ladies, and journalists were unable to declassify them.

From St. Petersburg to Moscow, as Vladimir admits, he ran away so as not to tie the knot with a girl, the relationship with whom had gone from sublime to routine. When his passion began to demand money, expensive gifts and excessive attention, Koshevoy realized that this was not the person with whom he could live in perfect harmony until his death.

Koshevoy likes loneliness, and he is not ready to open the doors of his apartment even to close friends if they show up without warning. The actor tries not to let anyone into his inner world. His social circle consists of several friends whose friendship has stood the test of time since childhood and school. None of them are connected with the world of art, which means that during their vacation they discuss everything in the world except theater and cinema.

The actor does not rule out that he still has a meeting ahead of him with a woman who wants to give all of himself and have children with her. An example for him of such relationships are his parents, who have retained the warmth of their feelings after decades.

Vladimir Koshevoy is impressed by living in Moscow, which he considers his second favorite city (he gives the palm to Riga). He doesn’t want to go back to the past (use his journalism degree for its intended purpose), and he doesn’t intend to act in bad films in the future, even for a lot of money (crap work is always noticeable on the screen).

In his spare time, he likes to read fiction and laments the fact that he does not have time to read all the books he likes. The actor has his own account on the social network Instagram, in which he posts photographs from film sets and from his personal archive, and video materials.

Vladimir Koshevoy now

In 2021, Vladimir received a supporting role in the series “The Godfather” about a team of doctors who worked at the epicenter of hostilities in Yugoslavia. In the historical anthology about the victims of the Holocaust, “Witnesses,” Koshevoy portrayed the conductor Leo Stieglitz, who was tortured in the Auschwitz concentration camp. In Valery Todorovsky's tragicomedy "Odessa" the actor has the main role. The film tells the story of a cholera epidemic that has engulfed a southern city.
