From the cover of Playboy to a car service in the LPR: the story of Natalia Lagoda

Biography

Natalia Lagoda is called one of the most beautiful singers of the 90s. The artist’s clips were shown on the country’s main channels every day. However, the singer’s fate was tragic.

Natalya Lagoda was born in Cherkassy in March 1974 into a simple family. She graduated from school No. 26 in the same city. After school, she entered a vocational school, where she learned to be a seamstress, but her education was never useful to her in life.

In the mid-1990s, Natalya Lagoda came to conquer Moscow. In the capital, the girl rented a room and sold vegetables at the market. Then Lagoda got a job as a dancer at the Dolls strip club, where she met influential businessman Alexander Karmanov.

Music

The creative biography of Natalia Lagoda is similar to the fairy tale about Cinderella. A poor girl from the provinces became rich and famous after meeting a famous metropolitan businessman. Alexander Karmanov spared no expense on Natalya and decided to make her a singer. It was more a whim of a man than of a future artist.

After two incredibly expensive videos filmed in Thailand with the money of a businessman, Natalya Lagoda woke up famous. “Little Buddha” and “Your eyes are lying to me” were sung by everyone around, Lagoda’s photo was published by the tabloids. The singer was talked about as a rising star.

Fans waited for the girl at the dressing room and showered her with flowers. The businessman invested money in promoting several of Natasha’s songs and videos. She recorded a solo disc and posed for the cover of Playboy magazine.

After the release of the song “Your Eyes Are Lying to Me,” the artist began work on a second collection, which she never released.

Natalya Lagoda had another little-known song that can be called autobiographical. The plot is based on the tragic fate of a provincial girl who comes to Moscow and gets a job at a strip club, where she meets a young man. He soon leaves her for another woman. The song is called "Don't Promise".

The clip was not shown on screens because it contained an advertisement for one of the capital's clubs. There are two more hits that are remembered by the public: “Martian Love” and “Our Love”. The Karmanovs invested their money not in vain. Natalia Lagoda's videos were played on all major channels and radio every day, and only the lazy did not hum “Little Buddha”.

Personal life

Natalya Lagoda's first husband was her fellow countryman Eduard Fisak, with whom she gave birth to a son, Dmitry, in 1992. The marriage broke up almost immediately. Natalya met her fatal love in Moscow when she worked as a dancer at the Dolls club.

The singer herself said: “Alexander Karmanov came every evening and left a thousand dollars just for me to communicate with him. I didn't even have to dance for him. And it so happened that we fell in love with each other.”

It seemed that the fairy tale would last forever. The girl loved Karmanov almost fanatically and was sure that Alexander was her destiny, her other half. The couple lived together, Lagoda brought her son to Moscow. However, the star’s lover became interested in another woman - Olga Orlova, the ex-soloist of the group “Brilliant”, and soon Olga became pregnant.

Lagoda later recalled how, after performing the song, a former member of “Brilliant” approached Natalya backstage and talked about her pregnancy. Then the woman even congratulated Orlova. But the second one added: “From yours.”

In February 2001, Alexander and Olga formalized their relationship. Lagoda could not survive this blow. In 2001, after a year of severe depression and unsuccessful treatment, Natalya Lagoda jumped out of the window of her apartment on Begovaya Street in front of her 8-year-old son. The singer was in a coma for a long time, having undergone 16 operations, including craniotomy. After 8 months of treatment, she learned to walk, talk, and write again.

The personal life of Natalya Lagoda then turned out to be the top topic of all tabloids and media. After a suicide attempt, Lagoda disappeared from show business.

After the incident, in an interview, the woman shared that she survived because she heard Dima’s voice asking his mother to come back. Lagoda didn’t want to, but she returned.

Presumably, Natalya Lagoda’s third common-law husband was businessman from Lugansk Vitaly Simonenko. He took the singer from the hospital and took her to Lugansk. There, the former artist worked in a car repair shop. Later, Natalya Lagoda said that the woman’s lover was a former classmate from Cherkassy, with whom she sat at the same desk.

The family of Natalya Lagoda accused Simonenko of fraud, saying that he forcibly took Natasha from Moscow and forced her to sell the apartment, taking advantage of the woman’s illness and inadequate condition. Natalya’s relatives also accused Vitaly of abusing alcohol and introducing Natalya to this addiction. Lagoda herself denied these accusations and insisted that she was happy with Vitaly and loved her husband.

Resounding success

After viewers saw a beautiful girl on a yacht on TV, they fell in love with her. Fans were waiting for the singer near the dressing room with flowers, and she was showered with expensive gifts. The husband also doted on his beloved, he gave her a three-room apartment in the center of the capital, the couple never separated for a second. Natalya loved Alexander almost fanatically, but he became interested in another woman.

Olga Orlova from the group “Brilliant” became Karmanov’s chosen one. Lagoda later told in an interview how she learned about their connection. Orlova simply came up to her one fine day and said that she was pregnant with Alexander’s child. This was a heavy blow for the popular singer, and she tried to commit suicide. The girl jumped out of the window in front of five-year-old Dima, but the doctors managed to save her. Some body parts had to be collected literally piece by piece, but Natalya fought for survival with all her might for the sake of her son. She claimed that she heard his voice while in a coma.

Many surgeons refused to take on Lagoda’s case, considering it hopeless. But Karmanov felt guilty, so he found the best doctors, he fully paid for her treatment. The woman had to undergo more than 15 operations, including trepanation of the skull and hip joint.

She later reported that during her comatose state she even forgot how to write and count. It took about four years to restore mental abilities. Also, after the tragedy, the girl lost her voice. For some time she tried to sing at weddings, but it turned out much worse than before.

Death

From Moscow the singer moved to Lugansk. According to media reports, when fighting began in eastern Ukraine, Lagoda and her husband refused to leave Lugansk. The couple's house was destroyed by bombing, and then the family lived in a bomb shelter. Natalya rarely contacted her family. Earlier, the media reported that the singer’s son Dmitry moved to Russia. Other sources said that the guy was fighting on one of the sides in the conflict.

On May 31, 2015, his brother Sergei told the public that the young man’s sister Natalya Lagoda died on May 29, 2015. The cause of the singer’s death was not announced, but some sources claim that addiction to alcohol could have led to death, but there is no official confirmation of this information. According to Natalya’s brother, the woman’s death is “the result of a tragic fate.” She was only 41 years old.

Then the public learned that Natalya died from an acute form of advanced pneumonia. The funeral took place in Lugansk.

In June 2015, one of the “Let Them Talk” episodes on Channel One was dedicated to Natalya Lagoda. The woman’s husband, Vitaly Simonenko, was invited to the program. On the show, the man denied that he and his wife existed like homeless people. Vitaly claimed that the couple lived with his aunt and then moved to a service station. And there were the necessary conditions for life.

After the death of Natasha, Simonenko went to prison: the man turned out to be a suspect in the case. And just before the funeral, Lagoda’s husband was released. As Vitaly himself assured, he could not even prepare a farewell to the woman he loved.

Natalya’s mother and father are sure that it was Simonenko who brought their daughter to a critical condition and death.

Lagoda’s son, Dmitry, was present at the program. The young man said he came to tell him what a good person his mother was. And Dima is also sure that Natalya died because of the war in Donbass. Dmitry also stated that his mother and stepfather lived in normal conditions. The young man himself could not say goodbye to his mother, since he was not allowed to leave the Russian Federation.

Natalia Lagoda's husband - Vitaly Semenenko

In the studio is the husband of the deceased singer.

— Vitaly, we know about the reasons for your wife’s death only from the words of her brother Sergei. Was it really like that?

- Of course not. It's all a lie. We lived with my aunt. The last three days before her death we were at the service station. It was already completed, and there was everything: air conditioning, shower, toilet and even a room. That day she drank vodka, I was leaving on business, and when I returned, I discovered that she was drunk. She previously had problems with alcohol, and I constantly struggled with this. As for her brother, he never communicated with us and was not interested in her life. When I arrived at the service station, I saw that she was not breathing. I tried to do artificial respiration, then called an ambulance, but the ambulance did not come... They found out that Natasha had drunk alcohol and refused to go. Now, you yourself know what a difficult time it is in Lugansk and Donetsk...

Natasha and I studied at the same school, but we met only in 2004, when she recovered from that fall from the fifth floor. She came to me in Lugansk and we loved each other very much. Everything was fine, but I cannot explain what negatively affected her in the future. She had mental disorders. She was a weak person, for example, she could not fill out receipts correctly.

- Agree, it’s just a paradox: Natalya survives after jumping out of the window, but at the same time she died from alcoholism...

Natalya Sturm, singer

— Back in the late 90s, I heard that she was addicted to drugs. This was before Olga Orlova - that is, Natalya had everything in order then: a dizzying career, a rich husband. Even then she was inadequate due to some pills.
