Ariadna Shengelaya was born on January 13, 1937 in Tashkent. Father is economist Vsevolod Eduardovich Shrink, German by nationality. Mother - Anna Pavlovna Lyubimova.
In 1960 she graduated from VGIK (acting workshop of V. Belokurov).

First film roles

As a student, Ariadna Vsevolodovna performed Tatyana Larina (the film-opera “Eugene Onegin”). After this, the young actress played several supporting roles.
Having started working at the Georgia Film studio, actress Ariadna Shengelaya began to receive many offers from directors. Her oriental appearance was so attractive to them. Young girls who have entered an independent life, have a strong character, know how to achieve a goal and understand that not all means are good for this - such roles were offered to her at that time. Among them we can name the role of Lena Topilina, the beloved factory confectioner (M. Ershov’s religious drama “I Love You, Life”).
In the tragicomedy “Caution, Grandma!” (directed by Nadezhda Koshevarova) she played the slightly naive, but serious beyond her age main character Lena. The incomparable Faina Ranevskaya also starred in this film. The plot of the film revolves around the construction of a new House of Culture, bureaucrats, pensioners who are not indifferent to how they spend their time, their offspring who solve love and leadership problems.
All-Union popularity
The 50s and 60s were very fruitful in Ariadne’s creative biography. The directors were captivated by her inner power, idolized her, and admired her talent. There were a lot of interesting proposals. Princess Vera Nikolaevna from the love drama “Pomegranate Bracelet” is the best role of the actress, which helped to fully reveal her lyrical talent and extraordinary poetic charm.
Starting with this picture, the actress starred in a string of titled female roles. She starred in the role of Countess Masha Naum Trakhtenberg (a drama based on the story of the same name by A. S. Actress's second marriage
Later it became known about her second marriage. The actress's husband was theater and dubbing actor Igor Kopchenko. He treated Ariadne's daughters wonderfully. — My mother’s second husband’s name was Igor Kopchenko, he was an actor and dubbing master. A kind man, he treated us, his wife’s daughters, very well. Mom was torn between Moscow and Tbilisi... Igor Petrovich, unfortunately, passed away very early - he suddenly died of a heart attack in 2003, two months before his 57th birthday.
Despite her apparent timidity, Ariadne was a strong person.
Ekaterina did not tell the details of Kopchenko’s relationship with her mother, so it is not known for certain when they met: either back in the 70s, when Igor Petrovich served in a theater in Tbilisi, or in 1986 on the set of the film “The Head of the Gorgon”, in which both participated.
“Their romance started back in Georgia,” a person from Ariadna Vsevolodovna’s entourage tried to dot the i’s. — And only then Shengelaya asked the director of the film “Head of the Gorgon,” where she played a big role, to film her beloved there too. But don’t think that Kopchenko didn’t succeed as a professional. This is absolutely not true! At one time, he also performed in solo concerts, as a master of artistic expression, and then became interested in working in cinema and television, only behind the scenes. He was an announcer and dubbing director, worked in television, where he read announcements of programs and films and was considered the signature voice of the channel.

After Igor passed away, Ariadne threw herself headlong into raising her grandchildren, and then her great-grandchildren.
“My older sister and I have two children each, and Natalya already has four grandchildren growing up,” says Ekaterina proudly. — My daughter (she is also Natalya) followed in her grandmother’s footsteps and became an actress, I also have a son, Luka. My sister’s son’s name is Andrei, and my daughter’s name, you won’t believe it, is Natasha again. Why do we have so many Natashas in our family? And this is all in honor of our wonderful grandmother Nato Vachnadze, my father’s mother, a famous Georgian artist. My sister, by the way, also worked on stage, and now, after a serious vascular illness, she has retired. From time to time we visit Moscow. My mother still has an apartment there next to the Cinema House. This is where we stop. And so, although we each have our own separate living space in Tbilisi, we call each other every day. It is customary for us to highly honor our parents, and we are happy to live as a large and friendly family... Our mother in her youth was simply beautiful, a real star. I was always proud of her, but in principle I didn’t feel her popularity; for me she was always just a mother.
