Russian viewers appreciated Tatyana’s wonderful performances and professionalism while watching her acting and skating in the 2021 Ice Age show project.
Childhood and youth
Tanya was born in the spring of 1986 into the family of Andrei and Natalya Volosozhar. Dad is a native of Nizhny Tagil, mother is from Kaliningrad, but Andrei Andreevich’s military service threw the family throughout the Soviet Union. When the children were born, he served in Dnepropetrovsk. Mom, Natalya Vladimirovna, took care of the house and her daughters - the eldest Olga and the youngest Tatyana.

Like many military families, they cultivated a healthy lifestyle, so the parents decided to send the girls to the skating rink. Olya was six years old, Tanya was four. The older sister didn’t like figure skating, but the younger sister “got excited.” But at first they didn’t want to take her into the section, because she didn’t fit the parameters, but then the girl was accepted into the subscription group for a trial period.
Tanya started skating at age 4
In just a month, Tanya managed to prove herself, after which she moved to the group of coach Antonina Pashkovskaya. At the age of six, she entered a special school for little skaters, where, in parallel with training, she received primary education. The girl turned seven when she won her first competition as a singles skater.

As a teenager, Volosozhar tried to defend her right to independence, proving to her parents that she was already an adult. One day, a girl really wanted to go with her friends to the dacha for an overnight stay, but her father was relentless, declaring that when her daughter turns eighteen, she can do whatever she wants, but before that there is no talk of any dachas. Tatyana recalled much later: But then she added that over the years she and her father became closer, and he always supported his youngest daughter.
Tatiana Volosozhar's childhood
Tatyana Volosozhar’s father is a military man who was sent with his family to Dnepropetrovsk. Tanya was born there. Parents wanted Tanya and her sister to play sports. Dnepropetrovsk is a big city where there was an opportunity to take the children to the skating rink. So Tanya and her sister started figure skating. My sister soon flatly refused to study, but Tanya wanted to continue. She was only four years old then. But the girl’s desire alone was not enough; according to the coach, she was overweight, so Tatyana continued her classes in the subscription group. So that the young athlete would have a goal, Tanya was promised to transfer her to the section if she saw results in a month of classes. She succeeded, and at the age of five she began to study seriously. Her first coach was Lyudmila Petrovskaya.

In elementary school, Tanya studied in parallel with figure skating classes. It was a specialized school. Thanks to the girl’s hard work and desire to achieve good results, already at the age of seven she became the winner in single skating. This was her first competition.
First steps in big sport
Tatyana really wanted to succeed in singles skating, but luck smiled at her only in pairs, when she moved to coach Vyacheslav Tkachenko and became a pair with figure skater Pyotr Kharchenko.
Then Galina Kukhar began to train them. Tatyana Volosozhar and Petr Kharchenko (2000) In 2004, their couple won gold at the Ukrainian Championship, and then Tatyana and Petr became medalists at the junior stages of the Grand Prix. Difficulties began in adult competitions and soon their duo broke up. Volosozhar paired up with Stanislav Morozov, and Nikolai Morozov, who is known for choreographing the winning Olympic program “Winter” for Alexei Yagudin, choreographed the program for them. The couple's training took place in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.

Three times the skaters became champions of Ukraine, twice took prizes at the Universiade, and became participants in the Olympic Games in Turin. In 2008, the couple moved to Chemnitz, Germany, where they began training with the famous trainer Ingo Steuer. European Championship 2010 At his school, Tatyana and Stanislav managed to “roll out” so much that in 2009 they became prize-winners of two stages of the Grand Prix, and won the right to participate in the finals. Just a little was not enough for Volosozhar and Morozov to take the step of the podium - they became fourth. At the same time, experts noted how much the couple had progressed professionally: clarity and coordination of movements, along with unique plasticity, distinguished Tatyana and Stanislav from other athletes.
Figure skater Tatyana Volosozhar in professional sports
This victory made it clear that a promising figure skater was growing. When she was 14 years old, she received an offer to try her hand at pair skating with Peter Kharchenko. Tanya agreed and took up pair skating. Vyacheslav Tkachenko became her mentor. The pair worked together quite quickly and showed excellent results. In 2004, when Tatyana was only 18 years old, their couple became the first in Ukraine. Many figure skating authorities, watching the performances of the young couple at the Grand Prix stages, where they climbed the steps of the podium, expressed the opinion that the partner was clearly stronger.
After these competitions, the new coach Galina Kuhar decided to give Tanya the opportunity to work with another partner, namely Stanislav Morozov. Stas was reliable, Volosozhar felt comfortable with him, and most importantly, it was not scary to ride at all. This pair won the Ukrainian Championship four times, twice they brought home silver from the World Winter Universiade. They took twelfth place (Turin Olympics) and fourth place (2007 World Championships). At this time, Nikolai Morozov appeared in the life and work of the couple, who became the director of their programs, choreographer and co-author.
Tanya, being a purposeful person, wanted to conquer new heights in sports. In 2008, she decided to go to Germany and continue her studies with Ingo Steuer. This famous coach was a mentor to an entire “international” family of athletes. Tanya joined them. A year later, Stas and Tanya received two medals in the Grand Prix competitions, as a result, they came fourth in the finals. In addition, the couple performed well at the World Championships, finishing sixth.
While training in Germany, the guys gained stability in skating, their movements became more refined, and the complexity of the programs they performed increased noticeably. After they finished only eighth at the Vancouver Olympics, Stanislav went into coaching.
So Tanya was unexpectedly left without a partner. Of course, there were offers, because she was an honored figure skater. But Stanislav Morozov took care of a new partner for Tatyana. He offered to create a couple with Volosozhar Trankov, who was just looking for a partner. Both Trankov and Volosozhar gave their consent. This is how a new Russian duet was formed. Tanya became a Russian citizen in 2010. The new couple began to be trained by Stanislav Morozov, Nina Moser and Nikolai Morozov.
After the guys’ first performances, Lyudmila Velikova predicted that they would become an amazing and invincible couple. The 2010-2011 season brought victory after victory. The couple worked harmoniously, without conflicts among themselves. In addition, each of them was a professional with good riding experience behind them.
Unfortunately, the following season Tatyana and Maxim were plagued by injuries, which forced them to undergo treatment in New York, in a special clinic. However, they deserved gold medals at the European Championships. The world championship remained unconquered, but everything was ahead. Already in April 2013, the guys became world champions. They had been waiting for this event for eight years, since Russian couples had not won world gold for eight years.
Career blossoming
After participating in the World Championships, where his duet with Morozov became sixth, and eighth place at the Olympics in Vancouver, Stanislav decided to end his career and switched to coaching.
But Tatyana wanted to continue skating, realizing that she could achieve more. Morozov invited his former partner to try herself in pairs with Russian figure skater Maxim Trankov, who was left alone after breaking up with Maria Mukhortova and coach Oleg Vasiliev. Volosozhar moved to Moscow with Stanislav, he began to train the couple together with Nina Moser. The program for the skaters was made by the same Nikolai Morozov.
Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov
In 2010, after receiving Russian citizenship and the mandatory “quarantine” associated with joining the national team of another country, Volosozhar and Trankov became winners of the Russian Cup in Perm, and in 2011 they won the Russian Championship.
2011 World Championship
That same year, the couple went to their first joint World Championships in Japan. Tatyana and Maxim left for the training camp in Fukuoka in advance, planning to undergo acclimatization and train. They arrived at Tokyo airport on March 11, a few hours before the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami. There was no contact with the athletes for about two days.
Trankov later wrote in the book “Two Sides of One Coin”: As a result, the entire sports team was evacuated back to Russia, and the World Cup was held in Moscow, where the Volosozhar/Trankov pair became silver medalists.
Tatiana and Maxim are not only colleagues, but also spouses
There were other victories, sometimes I had to miss the season to recover my health after injuries. For some time, Tatyana and Maxim underwent treatment in New York, and then won gold at the European Championships in 2012.

A year later, the next triumph for the skaters was gold medals at the European Championships in Zagreb and first place at the World Championships in London. This was a breakthrough for the Russian team - for eight years the skaters had not won gold at the World Championships.
Tatyana considers the gold medals of the Sochi Olympics, where she and Maxim simply had no equal, to be the most important achievement in her professional career. Their dance to the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber from the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” was inimitable; the athletes immediately broke away from their rivals by 18 points and became the undisputed Olympic champions. The Figure Skating Center in Sochi was even named after them.

“It seems I was deceived”: Tatyana Volosozhar cannot cope with two children
Olympic champions Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov became parents for the second time a week ago. Their four-year-old daughter Angelica has a younger brother, whose name has not yet been named.

The loving spouses were eagerly awaiting the birth of another heir. But Tatyana was worried that she would devote less time to Lika, because of which she might become jealous of her parents and her brother. Volosozhar asked advice from followers on Instagram, asking experienced mothers how they cope with two or more children.
Many then answered Tatyana, they say, it’s hard with the first one - because you don’t know what and how. With the second, and especially the third, it will be much easier. Firstly, experience has been gained, and secondly, there is nowhere to go, you need to keep up with everything.
Now 35-year-old Tatyana is already at home, but her beloved husband, 37-year-old Maxim Trankov, has flown to training camp in Sochi - he trains the couple Evgeny Tarasov - Vladimir Morozov. And on Volosozhar’s Instagram page a message appeared that she was not yet coping well with the situation.
— Who wrote to me that it’s even easier with two children than with one child? It seems you have deceived me. In general, seriously, it’s still a bit difficult and very unusual. It seems that I need to be in 10 places at the same time, and I seem to have time, but at the same time it seems like I don’t have time to do anything. Max was forced to leave for work in Sochi. He will be back on the 12th, and will also fly in for the weekend tomorrow, but for now my mother is helping me. I can’t imagine how mothers cope when they don’t have the opportunity to call someone for help. You are heroines! I also feel guilty towards Likusya when I don’t have time to play with her enough or exercise normally. I know that everything will get better, and these are the first such hectic days, but so far this has not made it any easier,” the Olympic champion laments.
Tatyana again asked her fans for advice: how to manage everything with two children and not feel guilty if something doesn’t work out or you don’t have time to go somewhere.
- "Everything will be fine! The most important thing is to put everything in order! You can go from the easiest to the most difficult or vice versa”;
- “Yes, it’s not easy! It’s okay, you can handle it!”;
- “Exhale! Don't try to force the situation. Everything will work out, solve problems as they arise and don’t blame yourself, but love”;
- “Everything will work out, just let go of the situation, and everything will fall into place,” fans encourage their favorite skater.
Will go into business and get married late: a tarot reader predicted the fate of the newborn son of Volosozhar and Trankov
By the way, many are interested in what the married couple of champions named the boy. But Tanya and Maxim are keeping their name a secret for now. And they don’t show a photo of the baby, only his bright yellow stroller periodically flashes in the frame. Shortly before giving birth, Tatyana announced a competition on the social network, inviting subscribers to guess what they would name their son. The most popular answers were Leonid (that was the name of Maxim’s late father) and Peter (in honor of St. Petersburg, where Maxim lived and trained for a long time).

In 2021, Tatyana, together with Maxim, released an autobiographical book, “Two Sides of the Same Coin,” in which the skaters honestly talked about themselves, their path in the sport, behind the scenes and plans for the future.
Volosozhar implemented one of these plans the very next year, opening a Figure Skating Center named after herself in Moscow with her own coaching methodology. At the same time, she began to participate in Ilya Averbukh’s ice shows. Volosozhar could be seen in the performances “Alice in Wonderland” (The White Queen), “Romeo and Juliet” (Princess of Verona).
"Alice in Wonderland": Volosozhar and Trankov
During self-isolation, Tatyana began broadcasting live with her fellow skaters. She invited Alena Savchenko, Ekaterina Gordeeva and others to “Meet a Star”.
2020 was a turning point for Volosozhar. Together with Trankov, she participated in the ice project “Path to Victory”, and after that she was invited to the show “Ice Age”. Tatiana's ice partner was actor Evgeny Pronin. The figure skater admitted that she was very interested in trying herself in new images, especially comedic ones. The audience rewarded the couple with applause after all the numbers, but the most memorable were Baba Yaga and Koschey the Immortal.

It was the tenth episode of the show, the performance was rated with the highest ratings (6.0) by Tatyana Tarasova, but the indignation of the duo’s fans knew no bounds when Elena Isinbaeva gave them two ratings of 5.8, which is why the couple dropped out of the competition. "Glacial period"
Having hung up her skates, Tatyana and Maxim began skating in Ilya Averbukh’s ice shows. Her roles include the Princess of Verona in Romeo and Juliet and the White Queen in Alice in Wonderland.
Tatyana Volosozhar did not miss her participation in “Ice Age”; she appeared in the seventh season of the show, which started in the fall of 2020. Actor Evgeny Pronin became Tatiana Volosozhar’s partner.
In the 10th episode of the show, Tatyana and her friend found themselves at the center of a scandal. For their performance in the images of Baba Yaga and Koshchei the Immortal, they received two ratings of 6.0 from Tatyana Tarasova, but another jury member, Elena Isinbaeva, rated the performance at 5.8 and 5.8. This led to the exclusion of Tatiana and Evgeniy from the competition.
Volosozhar herself wrote on Instagram regarding the controversial situation that judging is an art, and not everyone can maintain impartiality. She noticed that you can’t fool the audience, they see everything.
Personal life of Tatyana Volosozhar
Tatyana was seventeen when her figure skating partner Stanislav Morozov became her de facto husband.
After the skater switched to coaching, their personal relationship faded away, Morozov began to coach the Volosozhar-Trankov couple. The athlete had known Maxim since 2003, she liked him, although her ice partner for a long time perceived Tatyana as a friend. Volosozhar noted that it was quite difficult for their couple to start skating, but both consider the date of the first training session, May 15, 2010, to be the beginning of creating their “figure skating” family.
Wedding of Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov
Tanya was the first to admit her feelings, which surprised Maxim beyond words. But more and more often he began to notice that he was beginning to treat his partner not only as a friend, but also as an interesting woman. The lovers did not talk about their relationship until one day, after a successful performance, they kissed each other on the lips right on the ice. Everyone noticed this involuntary gesture.
In 2015, after winning Olympic gold, the couple officially registered their relationship. Maxim admitted that he was afraid to burst into tears at the wedding ceremony from the emotions that overwhelmed him, when Andrei Andreevich Volosozhar brought his daughter to the altar, symbolically transferring care and responsibility for her to Maxim.
The first pair. More than love The wedding was luxurious and took place in the restaurant of The Ritz-Carlton hotel. The bridesmaids were actress Anastasia Zadorozhnaya and figure skater Adelina Sotnikova, and figure skaters Fyodor Klimov and Stefan Lambiel acted as witnesses on the groom's side.
Tatiana Volosozhar with her daughter
A year after the event, Tatyana announced on Instagram that she was expecting a child. In 2021, Volosozhar and Trankova’s daughter was born, who was named Angelica. The energetic young mother recovered quickly and was soon back on the ice. Having barely learned to speak, Lika declared that she would become a figure skater, like her mother and father. The family lives in their own home and is preparing for the next important event in life.
Tatyana Volosozhar now
The main and happy event of 2021 not only for the skater, but also for her entire family will be the birth of her second child. Doctors have already determined that it is a boy and expect him to be born in early June. Tatyana is preparing for the birth of her son very responsibly, although she did not say anything to anyone about the early stages of pregnancy while participating in “Ice Age.” She and Maxim were going to announce their pregnancy in the finale of the show, but a combination of circumstances and the bias of one of the judges did not allow them to do this. However, on his Instagram, Volosozhar constantly shares news with subscribers.
