Family
Dmitry was born in Omsk on October 26, 1983. The future footballer had sport in his blood. Mom Elena Semyonovna Sycheva became famous as a professional gymnast in athletics. Dad Evgeniy Mikhailovich played for local football teams until he was 40, and then became a coach. Dmitry has a brother, Andrei, 16 years younger than him.
In a sports family, the boys from the films knew what hard training was. Andrei did not choose sports - dancing became the child’s hobby. Grueling training helped him become a member of the famous ballet group “Todes”.
His father initially prepared his eldest son for a sports career. Dad took the boy to training and even allowed him to hit the ball on goal. When his father became the coach of the girls' football section, Dima often played with young athletes.
Note: Now the Sychev Cup has been established at the sports school for girls, which is awarded to the best striker.
Dmitry Sychev in Lokomotiv Moscow
At the beginning of 2004, the football player signed a three-year contract with the capital's Lokomotiv. He became a striker who managed to close the team's most problematic line. On the field, Sychev was distinguished by his hard work and dedication, his ability to accurately carry out the task assigned by the coach. The team was coached in those years by Yuri Semin, who completely trusted Dima and sent him onto the field in every match.

Sychev, as he dreamed, made it to the 2004 World Cup as part of our team. In 2004, he was able to become the most productive forward. His result is seven goals. During the same year, playing for Lokomotiv, he scored seventeen goals. His team became the champion of Russia.
The next year started off very well for Sychev, but in the middle of the season he suffered a serious knee injury. He underwent surgery, after which the football player recovered for six months. Only in March 2006 did the athlete appear on the field.
In 2007, Dima extended his contract for another four years. The coaches at Lokomotiv changed one after another, but each time with the arrival of a new coach, the player spent less and less time on the field. Slaven Bilic, who became a coach, did not want to see Sychev on the team. In the 2012-13 season, the athlete was on the field for only thirty-two minutes on this team.
Education
Dima was sent to Omsk school No. 77, because there was a specialized sports class for boys. To the credit of young Sychev, he studied well in general subjects. The boy was especially good at English.
For a long time, Dima could not decide which sport to choose: football or hockey. Until the 4th grade, the boy did both - he kicked a ball for a week, and ran with a stick for a week. At the age of 11, the teenager decided to devote his life to football.
Dmitry Sychev in childhood
In 1993, Dima came to study at Children's Sports School No. 20 at the Dynamo sports club (the athlete's father played for this team in his youth). The first coach of Sychev Jr. was Mikhail Semernya. The professional quickly noticed the boy's talent. When Semernya formed a team of juniors born in 1983, he appointed Dmitry as captain.
The team led by Sychev played several successful matches. The team won the Ural Cup and went to the Russian Championship. There the junior showed himself excellently, scoring many goals from the position “under the striker”. The young man was noticed in the St. Petersburg club “Smena” and the teenager finished school in the Northern capital.
Note: Usually teenagers are not inclined to respect the words of the coach. But Dmitry was a very diligent and responsible student. The guy often stayed after training and continued to practice techniques and increase the load.
The young football player understood that success requires developed muscles and brains. The athlete decided to get a higher education by entering the Institute of Physical Culture in Tambov, but without graduating from the university, he transferred to Moscow, to the University of Sports and Tourism. Dmitry received a second specialty, graduating from the Faculty of International Politics of Moscow State University.
Dmitry Sychev in the Russian national team
In the spring of 2002, Dmitry played for the national team for the first time. In 2002, he became the youngest football player to score a goal at the World Cup. Dima immediately became famous, he had admirers and fans.
Football player Dmitry Sychev is not yet married
In August 2002, despite the fact that the athlete had signed a contract for five years, he decided to leave the team. The statement was written by Dmitry just two hours before the match with Alania was supposed to take place. In the fall, by decision of the FTC Bureau, he was disqualified for four months.
Beginning of a professional career
Sychev started under the banner of the Russian junior team, born in 1983. The first match took place in 2000 at the European Championships in Israel. Dmitry did not play brilliantly. However, the coach of the Russian team saw potential in Sychev, and he was right.
Dmitry loves cars
At the tournament in memory of Shkadov, the junior football player scored three goals. Sychev fully revealed his talent at the next competition - the Granatkin Memorial. Then the junior received offers from the clubs Zenit, Torpedo and even from Ukraine and Germany. But Dmitry decided to stay in his native Spartak Tambov, where he had been playing since the summer of 2000.
As a player on the junior national team, Sychev was noted for:
- Ataturk Cup tournament (Türkiye);
- at the qualifying games for the European Championship;
- in matches of Tambov Spartak;
- Shakhtar Donetsk;
- Moscow "Spartak", in which he played for the Commonwealth Cup.
Marseille Olympic
On December 20, 2002, by the decision of Andrei Chervichenko, president of FC Spartak, Dmitry Sychev was sold to Olympique Marseille. At first, the footballer played for the new team only as a substitute, but still managed to score 3 goals in 17 matches. In the summer of 2003, he managed to hit the goal of Austria, which ensured Olympic's entry into the group stage of the Champions League. As part of this team, Dmitry received the title of bronze medalist at the 2003 French Championship.
Without a place in the starting lineup of the French team, Dmitry Sychev realized that in the absence of consistent playing practice, it would be very difficult for him to get to the 2004 European Championship in Portugal, and therefore began to find other options for continuing his career.
The path to the top of the football Olympus
At the age of 18, Dmitry received requests from adult teams. The young football player was included in the Russian national team, which was preparing for the 2002 World Cup in Korea.
Note: The plane leaving for the competition with the team was delayed for half an hour in order to deliver young Sychev’s international passport on board.
The Russian team did not excel at the 2002 World Cup. According to sports observers, the brightest memory of the tournament was Sychev’s game. After the World Cup, negotiations were held for the transfer of the rising star from:
- "Milana";
- Real Madrid;
- "Parma";
- Juventus;
- "Bavaria".
“Spartak” wanted to earn 10 million euros from the player, but they only gave 8 million. At the same time, the club did not pay the footballer’s salary for July 2002. Then Dmitry decided on a provocative gesture: at the match, the athlete took off his shirt, under which a T-shirt with the inscription “Who are we” was revealed? ? Meat!".

The football player refused to sign the enslaving contract, and he was disqualified. This did not hinder the star’s career, and in January 2003 the young man played for Olympique de Marseille.
The following year, the footballer was bought by Lokomotiv Moscow, and in 2004 Dmitry played for the Russian national team at the European Championship. In the summer of 2005, the football player was seriously injured and it took six months to recover. But the athlete received the title of best forward of the year.
Note: Dmitry Sychev considers the 3rd place of the Russian team at the European Championship in 2008 to be his highest sporting achievement.
Leaving Spartak
On August 16, 2002, approximately a couple of hours before the upcoming match with Vladikavkaz Alania, Dmitry Sychev handed the president of Spartak a letter of resignation. Dmitry refused to play for the capital club, despite having an unexpired 5-year contract in his hands.
Soon, Sychev sent an explanatory paper to the CDC of the football union, in which he indicated that he made a similar decision due to the fact that Spartak violated the terms of the agreement and refused to pay lifting fees in the total amount of 10 thousand American dollars. On August 21, 2002, Sychev appears publicly for the last time: on the eve of the match between the Russian national team and the Swedish national team, he was awarded a Porsche car as the best player of the Russian team. Due to the break in the contract with the capital club, Sychev was not included in the game. For the same reason, he did not make it to the qualifying game of the European Championship, where the teams of Russia and Ireland met. On September 4, 2002, by decision of the Russian Sports Federation, Dmitry was disqualified until January 4, 2003 (in other words, for 4 months).
Decline of a sports career
Football players retire very early. In 2013, Sychev left Lokomotiv, but has not yet decided to hang up his boots. He played for:
- "Dynamo" (Minsk);
- "Volga" (Nizhny Novgorod);
- "Okzhetpes" (Kazakhstan);
- for local clubs in Malaysia, Iran, Australia, Vietnam, India, Belgium and Indonesia.
In 2021, the athlete returned to Lokomotiv, and in the summer of 2021 he signed a one-year contract with Pyunik (Armenia). But he did not enter the field. December 10, 2021 Dmitry announced on his Instagram page that he was retiring from sports.
Other activities
The interesting biography of the football player did not end with the end of his sports career. Being at the peak of his fame, the famous forward starred in Pepsi-Cola commercials and felt a craving for performing arts.
In 2007, he played a cameo role in the humorous series “Our Russia”, and a year later - in “The Best Film” by Comedy Club residents. In 2021, Sychev tried himself in serious cinema, playing the role of Dodin, a football player of the provincial team “Meteor” in the film “Coach”.

Dmitry has not forgotten his childhood passion – hockey. As part of a charity event, he played a match in August 2011. The football player has excellent hearing and voice. In 2005, when presenting an award to singer Seryoga at the MTV Russia Music Awards, Sychev performed a rap song. In December 2009, Dmitry gave a concert in Minsk “The Best DJ in the Champions League”.

This day comes in the life of everyone who devotes himself to sports. For some, this is a cold, balanced decision, for others, it is an idea that you come to only with time. I'm more likely from the second category. Football has always been life for me, even more. I have always loved only football in myself, and not vice versa. This is my favorite game, and I haven't liked finishing a game since I was a kid. But the game is wonderful when you can forget about everything on the field. Lately this has not been so easy for me. I decided to end my playing career. I can’t say that I have fully realized myself, but it’s also a sin for me to complain about fate. It was a long, interesting, difficult journey. My journey that now ends. I thank all the coaches with whom I crossed paths - for believing in me, patience and experience. I will miss everyone I played with, because being part of a team is the best thing in football. Special thanks to the fans - you filled my football life with meaning. I played for you, together we experienced the joy of victories and the bitterness of defeats, and I always felt your support, especially when it was very difficult. Leaving a mark on your hearts is the most valuable and greatest reward for me! And, of course, without the support of my family none of this would have happened. Turning the page today to start a new chapter tomorrow. The new path will be no less interesting, I’m sure! Keep in touch. Yours, Dmitry Sychev. #SychevForget

Dmitry has the same story as Igor Akinfeev and other football players who shot early. It seems like this guy has been playing forever and is back in some ancient times. When Maradona was still running around the field, and not sitting on a throne...
Anatoly Ivanov remembers everything good and bad about Maradona
In fact, Dmitry Sychev ended his long football career in 2015, finishing his performances for the Kazakh Okzhetpes from Kokshetau. Okzhetpes is a local landmark, a beautiful pyramid mountain. The name means “the arrow will not reach,” that is, so high and far that it cannot be reached.
After Kokshetau, the former Russian national team player traveled halfway around the world in search of work and new experiences. I even attended a screening in Malaysia at the T-Team club, which plays home matches at the Sultan Ismail Nasreddin Shah Stadium - a rather cozy 15,000-seat stadium for a sunny country .
I tried to play beach soccer following the example of Alexander Filimonov, but with less success. He went surfing - well, people love beaches and seashores.
