Childhood and youth
Mikhail Filippov was born on August 15, 1947. The actor admits that since childhood he dreamed of working in a theatre, although not in an ordinary one, but in a puppet theater. However, after graduating from school, the young man did not apply to the theater school, but entered the Faculty of Philology at Moscow State University.

Classes were held in a building located on Mokhovaya Street. Here, right across the road, there was a House of Culture for the Faculty of Humanities, in which two theaters coexisted side by side. The first, student, was led by Mark Zakharov; At the helm of the second theater, the Our Home studio, were Mark Rozovsky, Ilya Rutberg and Albert Axelrod.
Filippov's classmates, who worked as costume designers at Our House, persuaded the young man to go to the audition. He successfully passed the entrance examination and found himself among young talents. Many of them subsequently became national favorites. Semyon Farada, Alexander Filippenko, Gennady Khazanov - these are just a few who came from the walls of this studio.

Rehearsals and performances completely captivated Mikhail, and not only him - the participants of “Our House” went home on the last train, and the next day after work or school they were in a hurry to be back in the circle of like-minded people. The happiness lasted until 1969, when the studio was closed due to performances and satirical evenings that thundered throughout Moscow. From harmless student skits, productions of “Our House” little by little turned into something more acute and topical, and they chose to abolish the theater.
At that time, Filippov was a 4th year student at the Faculty of Philology. He could no longer imagine life without a stage, so he headed to GITIS for the next admissions campaign. The young man was lucky: he was accepted straight into the second year. In 1973, the young artist graduated with honors and immediately joined the troupe of the Moscow Theater. Mayakovsky.

Movies
In 1975, Mikhail appeared on the set for the first time. His debut in big cinema was the role of Fouquet in the film adaptation of Stendhal's novel The Red and the Black. The young actor’s partners were Nikolai Eremenko Jr., Natalya Bondarchuk, Natalya Belokhvostikova - in a word, the artist, who was beginning his creative journey, had someone to learn from.
Mikhail Filippov in the film “Red and Black”
Unfortunately, after his first appearance on screen, Filippov “fell out of the picture” for a long time; in subsequent years, he was filmed only in films, plays and short films. The theatrical career was also difficult - the artist received his first iconic role only in 1992 - it was work in the play “Napoleon the First”.
In the 80s, Mikhail starred in only a few films, such as “The Artist from Gribov”, “Lucky Women”, “The Trial”. But in the last decade of the 20th century, Filippov was faced with a lot of work. The actor’s creative biography was replenished with the roles of Pyotr Yakovlevich Chaadaev in “The Sukhovo-Kobylin Case,” and Count Panin in the historical film “Russian Revolt.”
Mikhail Filippov in the film “The Crimson Color of Snowfall”
The artist remained in demand in the 2000s. Among the notable projects with his participation are the series “Salome” and “Children of the Arbat”. Also, his filmography was replenished with the films “Dzisai”, “The Crimson Color of Snowfall”, “Spy” and many others.
Filippov is the owner of a number of awards and prizes. They are mainly theatrical - “Three Sisters” (1999), “Crystal Turandot” (2010), the International Prize. Stanislavsky (2011), “Live Theater” (2013). Also in 2013, he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree. In 1984, Mikhail was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Since 1996, Filippov has been People's Artist of Russia.
Mikhail Filippov: films
At the moment, the actor has starred in almost 40 films. The most notable of them was the television series “St. Petersburg Mysteries”, in which Mikhail Filippov (actor) played the role of Mordenko. For this work in 1997 he was awarded the prize for best supporting actor at the Constellation festival. Among the actor’s notable works on television and the big screen are:
- the film “The Crimson Color of Snowfall”, in which Mikhail Filippov (actor) played the main role of Major General R.I. Batorsky;
- television series “Ivan the Terrible” by Andrei Eshpai (Metropolitan Macarius);
- film adaptation of the famous “Spy Novel” by Boris Akunin (the role of Joseph Stalin);
- television series "Capercaillie";
- film “You Can’t Catch Us.”
Personal life
The actor’s first chosen one was Irina Andropova, whose father was the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Yuri Vladimirovich Andropov. She and Filippov had a son, who was named Dmitry. However, his appearance did not save the marriage - the spouses' relationship rapidly deteriorated and eventually ended in divorce.
Mikhail Filippov and Natalya Gundareva
In 1986, Mikhail married actress Natalya Gundareva. They met at the theater. Mayakovsky, and at first the colleagues were connected only by friendship, but then they realized that they needed to live together. The marriage turned out to be strong: Filippov and Gundareva lived together for 19 happy years. They were separated by the death of Natalya Georgievna.
In 2007, the artist released a book of memoirs “Natasha”. It tells the story of their relationship, full of love and light sadness. The narration is accompanied by photographs and drawings, notes, poems, the author of which is Gundareva’s husband himself.
Mikhail Filippov and his wife Natalya Vasilyeva
The couple never had their own children, but in the book Filippov mentioned Irina Degteva, a longtime fan of Natalia, who did a lot for the couple and partly replaced their daughter.
Filippov's third wife was the actress of the theater named after. Mayakovsky Natalya Vasilyeva. Despite the age difference between the spouses (Natalia is two decades younger than her husband), warmth and mutual understanding reign in the family. Several times the press was “exploded” by the news that Mikhail Ivanovich would become a father again, but these rumors turned out to be false.

Mikhail calls his marriage to Natalya GUNDAREVA years of endless happiness |
The ex-husband of Natalia Gundareva married the wrong woman.
The wonderful actor Mikhail FILIPOV, who buried his beloved wife Natalya GUNDAREVA four years ago, recently registered a relationship with the 41-year-old actress of his theater, the charming Natalya VASILYEVA. This marriage surprised many. But not by the fact itself, but by the fact that he offered his hand and heart to this particular woman.
At the Theater. Mayakovsky, where the newlyweds serve, the event had the effect of a bomb exploding.
— Mikhail suffered so much after the death of Natasha Gundareva, he was very sick, he was in intensive care. But how long can you kill yourself? It’s good that he got married,” one of the theater actresses shared with us.
Oksana KISELOVA, according to her colleagues, had a reverent relationship with FILIPOV (photo “ITAR-TASS”) |
- Natasha Vasilyeva is smart, kind, beautiful. It’s a pity that she has few roles, although she has been working here for 16 years and is not without talent. God willing, everything will work out for her and Mikhail, maybe they’ll even give birth to a child. After all, this is Natasha’s first marriage, despite the fact that she is already 41 years old and had many fans who proposed marriage. Vasilyeva and Filippov did not have an affair. We had no doubt that Mikhail would soon marry, but the actress of our theater Oksana Kiseleva . It was with her that Filippov began a reverent relationship two years after Gundareva’s death. Therefore, we are now in some shock...
At the Theater.
Mayakovsky Oksana Kiseleva has been working since 2000. The actress shows great promise; her colleagues are confident that she has a stellar future. The beauty is married to the actor of the Moscow Operetta Theater Dmitry Shumeiko . “She is from Tomsk, her husband is from Smolensk,” said one of the theater employees. — Dmitry Shumeiko is handsome, talented, smart. Of course, many were surprised by the romance between Oksana and Mikhail Filippov. But he has an apartment, connections, he is a people’s artist, and Shumeiko in an operetta gets pennies, and they don’t even have their own apartment. Therefore, many of us were sure that Oksana would divorce her husband and become Filippov’s wife.
Natalya VASILYEVA waited for her happiness for many years |
But he suddenly proposed to Vasilyeva. In any case, it’s good that the guys didn’t run away. We were able to save relationships and family.
Secret love
Oksana Kiseleva flatly refused to comment on her relationship with Mikhail Filippov.
- What kind of nonsense?!
— the actress was indignant and hung up the phone in anger. Or maybe in the troupe of the Theater. Mayakovsky are mistaken? And Filippov still had an affair not with Oksana, but with Natalya Vasilyeva? This is not the first time for Filippov to hide his love: for a long time his first wife Irina, the daughter of the formidable head of the KGB and the future General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Yuri Andropov , had no idea that her beloved husband had given his heart to the “sweet woman” Natalya Gundareva .
It’s difficult even for a People’s Artist to compete with such a handsome man as Dmitry SHUMEYKO |
“Ira was already a monstrously neurotic person in her student years,” said the beloved granddaughter of Secretary General Brezhnev, Victoria Filippova, . “She was terribly jealous of her husband Mikhail Filippov. At first it was groundless, and then she apparently annoyed him with her suspicions.
According to Victoria, when Mikhail Ivanovich had an affair with Natalya Gundareva, Yuri Andropov found out about this, and at the request of his daughter, he established surveillance of his son-in-law. Fearing to upset the fragile emotional balance of his daughter Irina, Yuri Vladimirovich hid the fact of betrayal. But the woman still filed for divorce, not believing her father. “I think Filippov got cold feet,” says Leonid Ilyich’s granddaughter. — Leaving the family with such a scandal was a risky business. And Misha began to restore relations with his ex-wife. He managed to convince Irina to get back together. She again went to her father for advice. And she told him an almost anecdotal phrase: “Dad, won’t it be immoral if I marry my husband again?” Andropov waved his hands: “Of course, daughter, that’s good!”
Victoria FILIPOVA is aware of the ups and downs of Mikhail Ivanovich’s first marriage |
True, there were rumors that Filippov did not break off relations with his theatrical passion. I have no doubt - from the very beginning he cheated on Irina with Natalya Gundareva. And Irina’s divorce from Filippov was indicative: he left the family immediately after the death of Yuri Vladimirovich, because the actor had nothing to fear.
Have you waited your time?
- Yes, he wasn’t hiding anything now! — the wife of a famous actor close to Mikhail Filippov is sure. — Mikhail and Natalya Vasilyeva really didn’t have a romance as such. Vasilyeva was in love with Filippov for a long time, as soon as she came to the Theater. Mayakovsky. And this was back in 1993. Then everything was fine with Misha and Natasha Gundareva; the other Natasha had nothing to hope for. For her, he remained a dream that would never come true. Do you think it’s just that a beautiful, talented and self-sufficient woman, who does not lack male attention, did not get married? And then Gundareva fell ill, and Filippov, as befits a loving husband, selflessly looked after her, hoping to the last that his Natasha would get better.

When Natalya Georgievna died, Filippov fell into severe depression. His mental suffering affected his physical health. Mikhail Ivanovich was hospitalized several times with heart attacks. In his grief, the actor sometimes became embittered. It happened that he did not allow even his girlfriends to visit his beloved’s grave, jealously declaring: “I will lay all the flowers myself, we don’t need anyone extra.”
There was talk that in the difficult years after the death of a dear person, he quarreled with both his son from his first marriage, Dmitry, and his named daughter,
Irina Dyogteva . “Of course, later they returned to normal relations,” our interlocutor continued. “Both Dima and Irina understood that Mikhail Ivanovich spoke only of his mental pain. But that’s not what we’re talking about now.
The couple called Irina DYOGTEVA their adopted daughter |
I heard that Filippov is having an affair with an actress of the Theater. Mayakovsky, but knew for sure that it was not Natasha Vasilyeva. She apparently continued to suffer in silence. And what saved Mikhail was not love, about which the whole theater was gossiping, but work on a book about “dear Natasha” (the book “Natasha”, published in 2007 - M.T. ), which he began writing during Gundareva’s lifetime. And the feelings for that actress were just a desire to somehow compensate for the emptiness in my soul after the departure of my beloved woman. The girl probably understood this. And Natasha Vasilyeva continued to love. And at some point Filippov simply saw this and appreciated her feelings. I really hope their marriage will be happy. May they bring joy to each other.

Gundareva's husband and his new wife ask for help
The widower of the popular actress Natalya Gundareva, actor Mikhail Filippov married another actress, Natalya Vasilyeva, several years ago. Since then, almost every year they try to go to Karlovy Vary, where a nun known for her healing prayers lives, and ask her for help.

Today, August 28, Natalya Gundareva would have turned 66 years old. The actress passed away after a serious long-term illness in May 2005. All this time, her husband Mikhail Filippov tried not to communicate with the press and seemed to isolate himself from the whole world. He mourned for a long time, but four years later he led actress Natalya Vasilyeva down the aisle. They began to live in the same apartment in the center of Moscow, where Filippov had previously been happy with Gundareva. “Misha is still worried, but hides the pain. Natasha Vasilyeva breathed into him like a second life.”
“says actress Elena Molchenko.
Every day, when Mikhail Filippov leaves for work, Natalya Vasilyeva sees him off, waving her hand from the window. She runs the household, goes shopping, buys fresh bread in the monastery shop, where Gundareva also loved to go at one time. “I rejoice when Misha is around, when he goes to church with me. It rarely works out in Moscow. Every year we try to go to Karlovy Vary, there on Mount Aberg there is the monastery of St. Nicholas, where Abbess Nektaria lives: she heals with prayers
. There's always a queue for her. So Misha and I, as soon as we arrive, go straight to her,” Starhit quotes Natalya Vasilyeva.
This year was no exception. The couple asked for healing: Mikhail Filippov needs rehabilitation after hip surgery
. “It was done for him a year ago, but Mikhail is still limping,” said Leonid Osharin, director of the Mayakovsky Theater. “He was eager to go on stage, but everyone saw that it was hard for him. I played with a stick for a while during rehearsal. Now he’s running, time heals.”
Note that two years after the death of Natalya Gundareva, Mikhail Filippov released a book of memoirs. It is called “Natasha” and contains the actor’s revelations, full of bright sadness and love. “When we met, you were already popular, many times a laureate, many times the best actress of the year,” wrote Mikhail Filippov. – But I haven’t seen most of your films and couldn’t list your titles, but I knew your freckles and was happy about it
. In You, an adult woman, there miraculously lived a child, a little girl from the sandbox, who with captivating trustfulness tells the first person she meets: “And today we had cutlets with pasta and compote for lunch.” You made me laugh with a story from your own childhood, how one night you ate too much jam, sneaking into the kitchen secretly from the adults, and then woke me up in a terrible whisper: “Mommy, dear mommy, I’m vomiting.”

From a small spark...
They had known each other for a long time. Natalya was then the wife of director Leonid Kheifets, and already an accomplished actress. Mikhail worked at the Mayakovsky Theater and was married to Irina Andropova, the daughter of the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee. The actors often crossed paths on film sets and theatrical skits, but at that time the spark that would soon unite their hearts until the end of their days had not yet flowed.
Mikhail Filippov and Natalya Gundareva
Gundareva’s career flourished in the early 80s, when she moved away from the role of rural milkmaids and barmaids. They were replaced by new, psychologically complex and multifaceted images recognized as classics. The roles were not easy: the actress internally experienced the fate of each heroine she played. She gave it her all and was mortally tired on set. There was no opportunity to rest at home, because Heifetz loved noisy companies and libations until the morning. After her first marriage, Natalya experienced two more unsuccessful meetings, and her world was filled with shades of gray. Then she said in an interview: “When they ask me the question: “Natalia, how can you be so strong?” - I give the answer: “Because I am weak. I have no choice but to stay strong. You need to somehow stay inside yourself. Life is a tragedy in a way, because the outcome is tragic: we die. I think that inside we are all unhappy and lonely..."
Natalya Gundareva: so strong because she is so weak...
But suddenly a feeling came to her, from which her eyes lit up again and, as Natalya’s friends said, she became cheerful and cheerful, as she had been many years ago. Mikhail Filippov became the feeling of her whole life. They got married in 1986. Gundareva wanted to have children from him, although at the time when the idea of becoming a mother appeared, the actress was already 38 years old. But this turned out to be impossible. By a bitter irony of fate, Natalya heard from doctors that she would not be able to have children right before filming the film “Once Upon a Time Twenty Years Later,” where she was supposed to play the heroine’s mother.
Still from the film “Once Upon a Time Twenty Years Later.”
With age, Gundareva managed to bypass the tactless questions of the paparazzi: “I don’t need children. Theater is their replacement.” However, at one point she gave in and admitted: “I’m most likely paying for success with my children...”
