Tim will grow up to be a son. When and where will Tszyu Jr. fight for the championship?

Biography

The son of boxer Kostya Tszyu decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and has already won several titles. The young man wants to fight in Russia and the USA, but many experts are skeptical about him. In Australia, where Tim Tszyu lives, boxing is considered dangerous and is not supported by the government. There is no school in the classical sense. Boxers are sometimes trained by fitness trainers, for whom only “physics” is important, and they don’t teach you to use your head during a fight. In America, it will be difficult for an athlete without the experience of amateur boxing, which his father once received.

Tim Tszyu defeated Bowin Morgan and defended the WBO, IBF titles, 12/16/2020

A professional boxing tournament ended in Paramatta (a suburb of Sydney, Australia), in the main event of which the promising junior middleweight fighter Tim Tszyu

, son of the legendary former undisputed light welterweight world champion
Kostya Tszyu
.
Tszyu deceived everyone!
He promised to knock out the butcher in the 6th round, but knocked him out in the first! With the exception of Tim, there were few truly big names on the card. Local boxers fought for regional titles, paving the way for larger fights, but the co-main event of the show aroused keen interest among many, not only fans of professional boxing, but also fans of mixed martial arts. The fact is that the former contender for the title of interim UFC heavyweight champion Mark Hunt took part in it. The 46-year-old Samoan veteran was up against 39-year-old former Australian rugby player Paul Gallen.

The rivals, despite the slow pace, put on a good fight, sometimes causing numerous spectators to burst into applause and jump out of their seats. The fight went through all six rounds allotted by the regulations. According to their results, victory, fairly enough, was given to Gallen by unanimous decision.

Well, after such a good warm-up, the participants of the main event of the evening entered the ring - Bowin Morgan

and the main boxing star of Australia – Tim Tszyu. The latter's entrance into the ring was particularly impressive. The fans greeted Timofey at every meter of the distance on the way to the square, and one of the cult compositions of the legendary group Queen Another one bites the dust gave the whole action a special spectacle.

Well, then the fight itself began. It turned out to be too short. A small initial reconnaissance, after which Tim went on the offensive. First, an accurate uppercut reached the target, which clearly stunned the opponent. Then Tszyu threw a series of punches, sending his opponent to the canvas.

Morgan, after the most powerful blows, managed to get up, but only to fall again. Tim's first attack was right on target. Luxury two-two and Bowin nearly goes over the ropes. A clean knockout and another spectacular victory.

After the fight, Tszyu Jr. was in an excellent mood and promised that very soon he would fight for the world title.

“I spent many hours in the gym, this is the result of hard training. Was it the plan to win so quickly? My opponent is very tough, and this was unexpected. I respect Bowin. What's next? Title fight here in Australia. Australia absolutely deserves it. Thanks to everyone, also to my fans in Russia. What would I tell my father? Dad, how are you? Everything is fine?" - Tszyu Jr. said.

Well, it was a great end to 2021 for Timofey. Well, in 2021, we really only expect fights for the world title from him. Good luck to him and thanks again for such a year!

Childhood and youth

Parents divorced in 2013. Tim has a sister, Anastasia, and a brother, Nikita, as well as a half-brother, Vladimir, and a sister, Victoria.

Tim Tszyu and his father Kostya Tszyu
Kostya Tszyu taught his son to go jogging from an early age and instilled perseverance in him. True, until the age of 11, Tim did not like boxing and was interested in football. Then he got into it, and his father began to train him harshly and mercilessly, once even knocking the boy down. Tim was never offended and was always grateful for help and advice.

But the main person in his career, according to Tim, is his coach and mentor - not his father, but his grandfather Boris Timofeevich. He is involved in every aspect of his grandson's career.

Genes take their toll

Kostya Tszyu (Konstantin Borisovich Tszyu) moved with his wife Natalya to Australia in the early nineties and stayed there for many years. One of the athlete’s sons, Timofey, who is simply called Tim, was born and raised in this country. From childhood, Kostya instilled in his son a love of sports and forced him to go to training. The boy didn't like it too much. He did not plan to connect his fate with boxing.

Tim had the opportunity to choose a profession when his parents divorced. His father returned to his homeland in Russia, and Tim and his mother, brother, sister and grandfather remained in Australia. It took several years for the guy to realize that boxing was his calling.

The last thing Natalya wanted was for her son to follow in the footsteps of her ex-husband. The woman admits that she was so tired of the sight of blood and the morally difficult battles that she hoped for Tim to get a calmer profession. But then I saw that the genes had taken their toll.

Boxing

On December 17, 2021, Tim Tszyu had his debut fight against Zorran Kassady and won. In October 2017, he defeated Wade Ryan, which brought the athlete the WBO Asian junior welterweight champion title. Australian boxer Paul Towell said that Tszyu's surname would hinder the guy because everyone would want to beat him with redoubled desire. But Timofey’s future sports biography proved Towell wrong.

In February 2019, the athlete met with Denton Vassell. He was in complete control of the fight, threw a strong right hand in the 2nd round, and his opponent could do almost nothing. The victory by technical knockout brought the fighter the title of interim champion of Oceania under the auspices of the world boxing association WBA. After the fight, Tim rested on the beach for a week to recover from hard training, and then began to prepare for new fights.

In August 2019, the boxer fought with Dwight Ritchie and took the Australian-Asian IBF belt and the WBO world welterweight title from him. In December, Tszyu moved up to middleweight and defeated Jack Brubaker. Tim dominated throughout the fight, stunning his opponent in the 2nd round, driving him into a corner in the 4th and forcing the coaches to throw in the towel. The new IBF middleweight title made him a major star in Australian boxing.

The boxer approached the fight with Jeff Horn with positive statistics of victories and defeats. The opponents argued for a long time over the fee: Horn wanted to get 60%, Tszyu insisted that the money be divided equally. We agreed on April 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fight had to be postponed. Boxing fans were waiting impatiently as Jeff was considered a serious contender after defeating Manny Pacquiao. True, some believed that too loyal judges appointed Horn as the winner.

Finally, a 10-round fight took place on August 26, 2021 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Due to quarantine measures, the stadium could only accommodate 16 thousand spectators. Kostya Tszyu's son dominated the ring again. In the 3rd and 6th rounds, he knocked Horn to the floor. It all ended in the 8th round, Tim won an early victory by technical knockout. The opponent appreciated Tszyu’s champion spirit and admitted that the guy fought better. He said in an interview: he needs an even stronger opponent.

Tim’s meeting with Bowin Morgan on December 16, 2021 was remembered for its striking knockout and therefore fast fight. The fight to defend the WBO Global and IBF Australasian titles ended in the first round. Timofey knocked down his opponent, and after another blow Morgan fell.

Only a victory

Last week, Tim Tszyu extended his winning streak to 18 fights. At a tournament in Newcastle (New South Wales, Australia), a hitherto unbeaten boxer beat Irishman Dennis Hogan , whose seconds threw a towel into the ring after the beating that began in the fifth round.

The son of Kostya Tszyu deals with his rivals without much difficulty. And, although Tim’s track record does not yet have any particularly high-profile victories (the exception is a knockout in a fight with Jeff Horn , who once beat Manny Pacquiao ), the world boxing community cannot ignore the successes of Timofey Konstantinovich.

Tim Tszyu currently holds the WBO Global and IBF Australian titles. In addition, the Russian-Australian fighter is in third place in the composite ranking of the first middle weight (69.85 kg) according to the authoritative BoxRec portal.

Does the 26-year-old boxer seem ready for a big challenge?

Personal life

Tszyu is fine with his personal life. In 2021, he met finance graduate Alexandra Constantine. The young people met at a boxing lesson in Rockdale. The girl asked Tim to hold the pillows while she practiced punches. Usually he refused such requests, but he could not resist Alexandra and her smile.

Tim Tszyu’s girlfriend is always nearby (in the photo - with a championship belt).
Her friend helps Timofey during training, goes on a diet with him and accompanies him to tournaments. Alexandra has not yet become the official wife of the boxer, but she is not in a hurry for her beloved to get married, because now his career comes first. The couple have a pet French bulldog, Pablo, Tim bought him as a reward for winning his first fight. A photo of the dog sometimes appears on the boxer’s Instagram account.

Tszyu has Australian citizenship. The celebrity's height is 174 cm, weight is 69 kg.

Tim Tszyu. How it all began

Tim Tszyu and the most important person on his team.jpg"Honestly? – a mischievous smile appears on Timofey’s face. – Well, it’s not mine... We (in the photo with my brother Nikita)

We tried to get used to life in Moscow for a whole year, but soon realized that we wanted to go back. We are accustomed to a different life. What was different in Moscow? Everything! It was the life of a major, where everyone loves you, since your father is a big shot - a very famous and respected person in the country. It was unpleasant for us, ordinary children from Australia. After all, a lot around was unreal: the relationships of teachers, personal drivers, the lack of real friends...

You know, this is such a paradox. The more people want to be your friend, the more you crave real friendship.

I remember as soon as we returned to Sydney, I immediately went with my friends on the train to the cinema. It felt like I felt 150 thousand times better than in Russia. Funny, right? An ordinary train trip with friends, but I will remember it for the rest of my life. After all, on that day I understood, I felt what the word “freedom” means.”

Unexpectedly, but...

Tim Tszyu and the most important person on his team.jpg
... EADaily reports that in February 2021, Tszyu Jr. supported the action of the ataman of the Australian Cossacks in Sydney in support of the current Russian President V.V.P. and against supporters of the opposition candidate A.A.N.

According to the organizer of the rally, “he (Tim) appeared at our rally, saying that, “of course, I’m here for P.” Moreover, he said this on camera on Australian state television.

I stood nearby and heard Tim’s manager whisper: “Say no comment.” But he responded like a real fighter. Timothy is our man, Orthodox, he was baptized by my father in the Church of All Saints who shone in the Russian land, in Sydney. Russia should be proud of such a compatriot.”

Tim Tszyu and the most important person on his team.jpg
I would like to write that “at first Tim had a carefree childhood: a passion for football at school, playing for local children’s teams, participating in all possible sports competitions.” Everything is true, but not quite...

“I remember in elementary school I came second in cross-country,” Tim recalls, laughing. “In an ordinary family, the child would be praised for this, but not in mine.” For my father, second place was akin to failure. I was simply forced to win absolutely every competition in which I took part. High from training? It certainly wasn't. But I am grateful to my father for instilling in me a hunger for victory. I live with this hunger.

What kind of father was he?.. Well, actually he missed the b o

most of my childhood. He was very tough. Obsessed with discipline. There are rules everywhere. And no excuses for violating them. This is why he became such a successful fighter. Nothing could stop him.

Tim Tszyu and the most important person on his team.jpg
Do you know what's really funny? When I was in Russia, I met his new family. I saw his little ones. They're also tomboys - they run around and turn everything around.

And then I told my father: “Gee! But we weren’t allowed to do this...” He smiled and answered me: “You know, now I have become completely different... Very soft...”

What did I feel? No, I definitely don't blame him for that. I think he deserves happiness and peace of mind. I see that now he wants to enjoy every second of being with them, he is calm and relaxed. This is all that he was deprived of before.”

Tim Tszyu and the most important person on his team.jpg
At the age of 15, Tszyu-son seriously returned to boxing. He performed at the amateur level and went undefeated on a streak of 7 early victories in a row.

Raised the level of opposition - state championship, Golden Gloves win, then national championship. There were fewer knockouts, but there were still no defeats. This continued until 2011. Tszyu Jr. dropped out of the semi-finals of the Australian Junior Championships due to a wrist injury.

The first stage of his career - amateur - ended with a record of 33-1.

Tim Tszyu now

Tim's first appearance in the ring in 2021 took place on March 31 against the well-known Australian with Irish roots, Dennis Hogan. The fight to defend the WBO Global junior middleweight title ended with Tszyu winning by technical knockout in the 5th round. Hogan fought with strong will, but his opponent turned out to be stronger. Dennis' team threw in the towel, stopping the fight early. For the heir Kostya Tszyu, this was the 18th victory out of 18 fights. Nikolai Valuev commented on Tim's triumph, saying that he is a future world champion.

Tim Tszyu defeated Dennis Hogan
After another victory, Russian State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev commented on the proposal to grant Timofey Russian citizenship. According to Svishchev, the state cannot interfere in the processes of professional boxing, but at the same time it can help with preferences when obtaining citizenship. The deputy is confident that, besides him, many famous people will support Tim Tszyu’s move to Russia.

Dennis Hogan promised to make Tszyu mediocre in the ring. We have never seen Timofey so angry

Tim was recognized as the best boxer in Australia at the end of 2021. First, he knocked out former world champion and Manny Pacquiao winner Jeff Horn, and then dealt with Bauin Martin in the first round.

But the fight against Dennis Hogan was presented as the most difficult fight in Tszyu’s career. He twice claimed the champion title, and if Hogan lost to middleweight leader Jermall Charlo by knockout in the seventh round, then in the fight with Jaime Munguya he almost made an upset, losing rather controversially by decision of the judges.

While promoting the fight, the Irishman Hogan allowed himself harsh trash talk:

“I expected that all the news would revolve around his name. The Australians always make a big deal about their fighters, but the boxers understand how competitive this fight is and know that Tim will have big problems. All fans have to do is look at my last fights and see who I faced. And it was not he who chose me, but I who chose him. I agreed to the fight and informed my team about it.

I am cut from a different cloth, in the ring Tszyu will be mediocre compared to me. I'm just a better boxer than him."

Tszyu answered laconically but convincingly:

“I know that the world title is one fight away from me. Hogan will be difficult, but he's not a threat. That's all I can say. He'll be awkward at first, I need to slow him down and then we'll see how he reacts when he starts getting punched in the face.”

Tim's prediction came true 100% in the ring.

In the first rounds, Tszyu really had a hard time. Already in the second segment, Hogan delivered a deep cut to his opponent’s left eye with his head.

But this situation forced Tszyu to immediately increase the pace and no longer box, but naturally fight. In the fourth round, Tim was particularly heavy on body blows, shook Dennis and could have finished him off in the last seconds - the Irishman was saved by the gong.

Then it became clear that a knockout was only a matter of time. Already at the beginning of the fifth round, Hogan found himself on the canvas after a magnificent left uppercut. The Irishman got up, but didn’t hear the gong: Tszyu literally ran over him in the best traditions of Gennady Golovkin - Hogan’s corner threw in the towel.

By the way, for Tszyu the fight with Golovkin is a dream fight.

“My dream fight is against GGG. For the last five or six years he has been my idol. At some stage of my career, I admired him, and then I thought: what if I boxed against him,” Tszyu said.

And after a convincing victory over Hogan, Tim said that he wanted more:

“I knocked out Hogan faster than Charlo did. I think this is a good achievement. Now we want real belts and we want them here in Australia.”

It’s interesting that Kostya Tszyu is really looking forward to his son’s fight in Russia.

“The fight ended a little earlier than expected. We could have done more work, because nowadays it’s difficult to organize fights. There are not enough rounds with good opponents. It would have been good for Tim if the fight had lasted a little longer.

Who will be the next opponent? He will meet with the team and they will think about it. I can be Timofey's representative in Russia. Make an offer that can be discussed. The promoters here don't work the way I'm used to.

They do everything without a contract, and many fighters get no money at all. This won't work for me. I really want Tim to perform in Russia. I really want him to perform in Yekaterinburg, my first homeland. I think it will be a very beautiful fight here in Moscow. He should perform here. I hope Tim will succeed,” said Kostya.

Now Tim is the official challenger for the WBO junior middleweight title, held by Argentinean Carlos Castano. Castano is an undefeated boxer whom even Erislandy Lara, the shadow leader of the junior middleweight division, could not defeat.

But if Tszyu boxes just as convincingly, there is no doubt that this year the son of the legend will become the world champion.

The son of the legendary Kostya Tszyu won again. Timofey's opponent was saved from knockout by throwing in the towel

On March 31, at the Newcastle Entertainment Center arena in Newcastle, Australia, the son of the legendary Russian boxer Kostya Tszyu, Timofey (or Tim, as they used to call him in Australia, where the guy has lived since birth) fought the 18th fight of his career. His opponent was the little-known Dennis Hogan.

For four full rounds, Tim dominated his opponent in the ring, and in the fifth round he brought the matter to a landslide victory. Another tough and unanswered attack from Tszyu forced Hogan’s corners to throw in the towel as a sign of surrender, and thus the son of the only absolute world champion in Russian history won his 18th victory in the pros.
