Vanya Dorn: career as a TV presenter
While still a student, Ivan sought to appear on television screens as often as possible. This desire prompted him to audition for a TV presenter on the M1 TV channel. But when the time came to choose the main direction of his activity, Ivan decided without hesitation that he would sing. Nevertheless, even now he is often invited to play the role of TV presenter in various projects.
Biography
Ivan's family moves from distant Chelyabinsk to Ukraine. The move was associated with his father’s work at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. By the way, as a child Ivan bore his last name - Eremin, but after his parents’ divorce he changed it to his mother’s - Dorn. Ivan has a younger brother, Pavel. The sons of their mother's second husband have the same name! Ivan began glorifying his mother’s name early: he was actively involved in sports (tennis, checkers and chess, football, swimming, athletics), ballroom dancing and, of course, singing and piano. Stage performances and musical awards - Dorn has been accustomed to all this since the age of six, when his first performance took place as part of the Golden Autumn of Slavutich festival. After young Dorn, many more victories awaited him in musical competitions: the Moscow competition “Light up your star” - 1st place, “Pearl of Crimea” - audience award; “Black Sea Games”: 2001 - took 3rd prize place, 2005 - took 2nd prize place; “Jurmala 2008”... A miracle, not a child! And from such a successful boy, he grew into a wonderful artist.
Star Trek
Dorn did not start his show business career with music. After school, Ivan Dorn entered the Kiev National University of Theater, Film and Television and soon got a job as a TV presenter on the Ukrainian music channel M1. Ivan Dorn came to the decision to study music by accident. At the Jamiroquai concert in 2007, he met his future partner in the “A Pair of Normal” project, Anna Dobrydneva. Who among us hasn’t rocked out to their hit “Get Up!” and didn’t feel sad to the lyrical “I’ll come up with a happy ending.” The tandem existed for two years, after which Ivan decided not to renew the contract and pursue a solo career. Ivan radically changed the image and direction of his music, turning from “his guy” into a mysterious fashionista with an oddity.
In 2010, Dorn released unusual compositions: “Stytsamen”, “So Strong”, “Northern Lights” and “Blue, Yellow, Red”. Party-goers in large cities are the first to learn about Dorn: the songs become popular in youth cafes and clubs. The public especially pays attention to the song “Stytsamen”, which, due to its incomprehensible name, many call it by the opening line of the text “Don’t be shy.” In fact, “stytsaman” in club slang means the guy who is the first to enter the circle and light up the guests on the dance floor when everyone is still embarrassed to dance at the beginning of the party.
Ivan Dorn and “A Pair of Normals”
After graduating from university, Ivan Dorn immediately got on television. Having appeared at the casting of TV presenters for the M1 music channel in the city of Kyiv, Ivan Dorn passed it with flying colors and became the star of the channel, ensuring an increase in the number of viewers and ratings in a short time. But the guy did not intend to stay on television for long as a presenter, since he was more attracted to stage activities.
One day he heard about a casting for a pop-rock band and, without much preparation, went straight there. It turned out that it was a casting for the group “Pair of Normals”. Vanya sang the Ukrainian anthem, and then the Russian anthem - that was the first thing that came to mind. It was then that the new member of the team met Anna Dobrydneva, who became his colleague in the duet.
The group presented their first debut album in 2008, and it immediately became popular. For a whole month, the track “Happy End” occupied first positions in the charts of Ukraine and Russia. The rapid growth of the band's popularity did not keep Ivan Dorn in the group, and the band's subsequent albums were released without his participation. He wanted to start a solo career, so he left the “Pair of Normal” duet without regret after the end of the period stipulated in the contract.

Ivan Dorn loves to recall the story of his youthful love for a girl from the Artek camp. The affair began when Dorn was 14 years old, and after the breakup correspondence continued for a long time. And then Ivan saw his beloved on the screen! This was a participant in the Ukrainian version of the Star Factory project Dasha Kolomiets. But this is just a romantic memory. Ivan has a serious relationship with his former classmate named Nastya, with whom Dorn lives in Kyiv.

Daughter of Ivan Dorn - Vasilisa

Interestingly, there are even photographs of the girl on the Internet. For example, from a party dedicated to the birthday of the son of a friend, Ivan Dorn. At the same time, it is impossible to see the baby’s face completely in them. Which, however, is not particularly surprising, since Ivan Dorn was and remains one of the most secretive contemporary pop artists, who is very reluctant to reveal details of his personal life.
Ivan Dorn's wife - Anastasia Novikova
It is noteworthy that Ivan Dorn’s wife, Anastasia Novikova, is not a celebrity, as is usually the case. She is just a former classmate of the singer, a year younger than himself. Note that the couple dated for six whole years, until Anastasia finally married him in 2013.
The wedding took place in Slavutich. Supporting Ivan’s reluctance to talk about the details of his personal life, Nastya does not appear in public, and her photographs on the Internet can be counted on one hand. It is impossible not to add that, according to Dorn himself, even despite the marriage, his career still comes first for him. The singer doesn't even wear a wedding ring. At least in front of the cameras.
Personal life: family and raising children
Dorn's personal life was hidden from prying eyes for many years, so various rumors often arose. At one time they talked about his unconventional orientation, since the musician sometimes appeared on stage in a rather strange image. However, it became known later that in 2013 he married his classmate, Anastasia Novikova, with whom he had a long-standing romantic relationship.

In 2014, his wife gave birth to a daughter, Vasilisa, however, Ivan was in no hurry to disclose this event. The singer rarely went out with his wife, but in 2015, journalists nevertheless noticed that the couple were again expecting a new addition to the family. Soon their son was born. Despite his busy schedule, Dorn tries to be with his wife and children more often. The 29-year-old handsome man is in excellent physical shape (he is 187 cm tall and weighs about 80 kg). Dorn maintains a healthy diet and makes time to work out at the gym.

Socio-political position of Ivan Dorn
As Dorn said, in 2015, through his friend Sergei Prytula, he gave money to Ukrainian volunteers for medicines for the military, participants in the so-called. ATO in Donbass. According to Prytula himself, Dorn made donations exclusively from fees received in Russia, and they were used to purchase uniforms and equipment for the Ukrainian military. In 2021, Dorn stated that the money was intended for victims of shelling in Mariupol, but Pritula allegedly used it unauthorizedly. The performer himself at his concerts advocates the unity of peoples and abstracts himself from politics.
In April 2021, Ivan Dorn called Russians and Ukrainians brothers in an interview with blogger Yuri Dudu. “When there was a quarrel between two brothers, all the younger brothers said “no” to everything from the older brother, we want everything for ourselves. Music journalists began to look for Ukrainian bands to say that everything is fine with music, and there is enough of everything,” he said.
In Ukraine, this caused a loud scandal, during which Dorn was accused of “betrayal.” The musician responded to Ukrainian national radicals with verses:
“I could never have thought that all the leaders in the country would blame the cause of all conflicts and all politics on me. Although everything here is natural, I don’t say it like everyone else, which means they will certainly spin me around its axis...”
In June 2021, the planned concert of Ivan Dorn in Odessa was canceled due to threats from radicals.
