Presidium at a wedding for newlyweds - how to decorate it in an original and tasteful way

Decorating the place at the table where the newlyweds will sit is an important moment in organizing the celebration. A properly decorated presidium (that’s what this place of honor is called) should organically fit into the concept of the hall and at the same time be the brightest and most noticeable in the entire celebration room.

The newlyweds' place is located in such a way that it is clearly visible from any point where the guests are sitting, for example, in the center. The attention of all those present will be riveted to the presidium.

How to decorate the newlyweds' table with fabric and lace with your own hands

Decorating the newlyweds’ table with textiles yourself is good for two reasons: firstly, the designer does not know the couple and cannot always determine what kind of design will harmoniously complement the image of the bride and groom, taking into account their character, relationship style, and tastes.
Secondly, the services of professionals are unreasonably expensive. Moreover, if you wish and have some imagination, it’s not so difficult to cope with this yourself.

The decoration of the podium with fabric similar to that from which the bride’s dress or veil is made looks unusually strict and at the same time solemn and gentle.

The table seems to be buried in a wave of weightless foam. The main thing is not to skimp on the footage; such decoration should be lush, cascade like a waterfall and spread along the floor, forming soft folds and bends of the fabric.

Elements for decorating the newlyweds’ place can be used to decorate the hall and guests’ tables.
This will combine them, creating the effect of harmony and completeness. Another win-win technique is layered design. A smooth, plain tablecloth that completely hides the table is draped with colored lambrequins or stripes.

You can also take a beautiful rope, equal to the perimeter of the table, and strips of fabric (their length and width are chosen arbitrarily, depending on the desired effect).

Ribbons are tied around the rope, and the rope itself is attached to the tablecloth with pins.

It is appropriate to complement this fringe with flowers, beads, artificial butterflies and other decor.
A combination of fabrics that contrast in color or texture looks beautiful: dark with light, smooth with embroidered or printed. But cold and warm shades need to be combined carefully.

Tablecloth

The presidium tablecloth serves as the background for all subsequent decor.
Therefore, it is better when it is designed in a neutral style: light, smooth, with an unobtrusive small pattern or texture. Its front part, the one facing the guests, can be lush and fall in folds, but the part located on the side of the newlyweds should be shorter and without frills. This will make it easier for them to get up and sit down, especially for the bride if she has a full skirt. Organza, cotton, lace, satin, and tulle are good for the main tablecloth.

Fabrics with a shiny shimmer of gold and silver look festive, but require a sense of proportion

Drapery decoration

Drapery creates style, adds festiveness and completeness to the design of the podium. It looks beautiful to use the same fabric to decorate the newlyweds’ table and guest places, but in this case the newlyweds’ place should be more skillfully and intricately decorated.
Light, flowing fabrics are suitable for drapery, for example, taffeta, viscose, guipure, colored organza, batik. They decorate the front side of the table, less often the side ends.

The drapery should fit into the style of the wedding and be in harmony with other decorations of the newlyweds' place.

Lace in the decor of the presidium at a wedding

Lace is perhaps one of the most successful fabrics that can be used to decorate a newlyweds’ table.
Thanks to this fabric, a feeling of sophistication and some vintage is created. In addition, thanks to the variety of colors, shades and patterns, lace provides ample opportunities for elegant decoration. It goes well with plain fabrics of both bright and pastel, powdery colors, playing with contrast, or, on the contrary, creating a general ensemble with the background tablecloth.

Decorating the newlyweds' table with flowers

Flowers are one of the most successful ideas for decorating the table of the bride and groom.

The natural beauty, tenderness, sophistication and grace of plants are appropriate at a wedding banquet like nothing else. You should not choose flowers with a heavy, thick smell (a strong aroma can cause a headache or nausea), as well as allergenic ones and with a lot of pollen.

An interesting technique would be to deviate from the classic options using roses and lilies in favor of less common asters, gerberas, violets, carnations, peonies or wildflowers. Artificial plants can also be used.

To decorate the podium, a flower garland is made and placed on the side facing the guests, as in the photo.

This gives it a solemn and elegant look and, unlike bouquets on the table, does not disturb the newlyweds.

Artificial flowers

They are good because they do not require special care, they look excellent and on the second day of the wedding, if one is planned, they do not emit a smell and do not attract insects. Modern artificial flowers are in no way inferior to real ones in appearance, and often, without touching them, it is generally difficult to distinguish them. Bouquets and garlands can be supplemented with fruits, beads, and ribbons.
Artificial flowers are especially relevant for weddings in the cold season. Their use will allow you not to worry about the plants quickly losing their appearance due to temperature changes or drafts.

Natural flowers

They are as tender and reverent as the love of newlyweds, and therefore fit perfectly into the concept of the wedding celebration. It is worth adding more greenery to bouquets - it refreshes flower arrangements and looks beautiful both in life and in videos or photographs.
The shape of the bouquets can be both traditional and extravagant: asymmetrical, creeping, floating in an aquarium vase - it all depends on the theme and style of the wedding, as well as on the wishes of the newlyweds.

Not only the podium is decorated with flowers, but also the space around it: walls, columns, arches, etc.

Decoration of glasses and candles

Satin ribbons are mainly used to decorate glasses. Based on the theme of the holiday, this is a combination of white and pastel colors that look very gentle and harmonious. You can wrap the shreds around the stems of glasses, make small roses, or simply stick them on the glass. You can also add beads and rhinestones.

You can use lace as a decoration for glasses. The material has an intricate pattern that looks good on transparent glass.

Candles are widely used to decorate banquet halls. They are also needed for the ceremony of lighting the family hearth. The same materials as for the glasses are used as a stripe; it can also be supplemented with the presence of small artificial flowers or painting. Candles are placed in ordinary glass jars decorated with lace or ribbon. If the holiday is taking place in a cafe, you need to ask the owners whether it is possible to light candles.

Beautiful decoration of the podium for a wedding with balloons

Light, bright balloons will harmoniously complement the design of the podium. You can use them to make a beautiful arch or columns around the newlyweds, or use them to decorate the ceiling above the table.

Balloons inflated with helium and tied to something heavy, placed on the sides of the table, look interesting.

Their color should be combined with other design elements.

Romantic presidium

For a wedding in pastel colors (pale pink, blue, gold, lilac), a romantic style of decoration for the presidium is suitable. You will need a tablecloth of a suitable shade; artificial or fresh flowers in any quantity, ribbons and lace will look great. To make the whole composition look harmonious, you need to decorate the table with a flowing fabric in the main colors of the wedding.

How to decorate a newlywed's table with candles?

Living fire has always fascinated people, introducing an element of mystery and a certain enigma into the atmosphere. This property is successfully used when creating the design of the podium and complementing it with candles.

The flickering and play of flames in themselves can serve as decoration, and if the candles are decorated with ribbons, lace and in flower arrangements, the effect will be simply stunning. When decorating candles, you should use the same colors and materials that are characteristic of the general style of the room. Candles can be placed not only on the table, but also on the floor, on special stands, in “candlesticks” made of vegetables and fruits.

It is important to remember that open flames can be a fire hazard. For the safety of the celebration, burning candles can be placed in glass flasks.

Decorating the podium with candles

To create a romantic atmosphere at the celebration, you can decorate the wedding podium with candles. Such accessories can stand on a table without decoration or in vases or candlesticks. Candles will come in handy for the ceremony of lighting the hearth. It is enough to correctly combine several decorations of different shapes, colors and formats to turn a simple room design into a festive one. It is only important not to forget about fire safety. Do not leave lit candles unattended or allow the structure to topple.

Decorating the newlyweds' table with fruit at a banquet

A bright, stylish and at the same time inexpensive technique for decorating the podium. It is worth focusing on the seasonal availability of these “scenery”. Autumn apples and pumpkins will successfully complement yellow tree leaves, pine cones, nuts, rowan or viburnum berries, asters and marigolds.

In this video there is a master class on decorating and cutting fruits for the holiday table:

For strawberries, chamomile, sprigs of mint and other aromatic herbs, and skewers with other types of berries can serve as a background.

Bright citrus fruits - topiary and garlands of berries or small fruits - will look beautiful and festive. Juicy mood guaranteed!

Backdrop design for wedding

The background behind the young people requires special attention.
On the one hand, it complements the overall ensemble of the presidium, but on the other, if you overdo it with its design, it will turn out tasteless and clumsy. The main thing to remember is that the backdrop is just part of the decoration of the room. Neither he, nor the table, nor other furnishings should draw attention to themselves intended for the heroes of the occasion .

If the set table itself is decorated brightly, then the backdrop is preferable to a calm, neutral one and vice versa.

Usually it is customary to decorate it with fabric, flowers, paper garlands and balls in accordance with the general theme of the hall.

Keepsake for guests

Gifts for guests from newlyweds are becoming increasingly popular. At the end of the celebration, presenting your gift to the participants of the celebration is considered a sign of good manners. If you put in a little effort and imagination, such gifts will be quite cheap, but at the same time they will bring joy to your guests.

Gifts can be very diverse. Many people give sweets. To do this, you need to make a small envelope and put sweets, chocolate, and marmalade in it. This envelope is also accompanied by a postcard in which the newlyweds express gratitude for their presence at their holiday.

The following souvenirs would also be a good alternative:

  • cups with a photo;
  • fridge magnets;
  • themed keychains;
  • indoor plants in a pot;
  • Handmade soap;
  • candles;
  • a bottle of wine or a chocolate bar with a photo of the newlyweds.
