Oleg Basilashvili in his youth and now
In an interview, the artist said that he did not feel joy from studying, since the school system oppressed him. The boy was not good at exact sciences. In addition, back in the 10th grade, young Basilashvili became known as unreliable when he wrote a laudatory review of the work “The Golden Calf,” which was then banned in the USSR. Drawing lessons at the art academy also ended in a tragicomic episode: Oleg was accused of imitating post-impressionism and was kicked out.

However, the desire to touch the world of art was stronger than ideological restrictions. The young man adored the Art Theater, went to every performance, and participated in amateur performances. As a result, I took the risk of applying to the Moscow Art Theater School and got in on the first try. Among the classmates are Mikhail Kozakov, Vladimir Lyubimov, Evgeny Evstigneev.

Oleg Basilashvili: biography

Perhaps there is not a single lover of Soviet cinema who does not know Oleg Valerianovich. Basilashvili is an amazing actor who embodied a number of images that are forever imprinted in the history of our film production. This is Yuri Samokhvalov from the cult “Office Romance”, and the sympathetic Platon Ryabinin from Eldar Ryazanov’s “Station for Two”.

Oleg Valerianovich Basilashvili was born in 1934 in Moscow. His father Valerian Noshrevanovich worked as the director of the Moscow Polytechnic of Communications, and his mother Irina Sergeevna Ilyinskaya was a well-known philologist throughout the USSR. The friendly Basilashvili family consisted of six people. In addition to his mother and father, Oleg lived with his half-brother Zhora, his grandfather and grandmother - an imperious, strong woman who kept the whole family under her leadership. In an interview, the actor recalled that it was thanks to Olga Nikolaevna that the house was kept in order and comfort. She also greatly influenced the upbringing of her grandchildren, including through moderate corporal punishment.

Oleg Basilashvili in childhood

The Great Patriotic War was remembered by the future actor for its terrible famine, which even reached Tbilisi, where the whole family moved at the beginning of hostilities. She deprived Oleg of his older brother. Having reached the rank of captain, Georgiy Basilashvili was hospitalized, after which he was sent to the rear, but mysteriously disappeared. And the future actor himself almost died when, due to the body’s weak resistance, he became infected with tuberculosis.

In 1943, the Basilashvili family moved back to Moscow, where Oleg was sent to third grade at school No. 324. In an interview, the actor said that he did not feel any joy from studying, since the school system oppressed him very much. The boy was bad at all the exact sciences. Trying to better understand algebra, Oleg simply did not have time to do any other lessons and eventually slipped to “D”.

Oleg Basilashvili in his youth

In addition, back in the tenth grade, young Basilashvili became known as an unreliable person when he wrote a laudatory review of the work “The Golden Calf,” which was then banned in the USSR. Then the story was hushed up, but the sediment remained. Drawing lessons at the art academy also ended in a tragicomic episode when Oleg was accused of imitating post-impressionism and expelled from the institution.

Although such situations did not in any way contribute to the creative development of Oleg Basilashvili, the desire to touch the world of art was stronger than ideological restrictions. From adolescence, the young man adored the Moscow Art Academic Theater, went to every performance and soon became obsessed with the idea of becoming an actor. Together with a friend, he began to participate in amateur performances, joining an amateur troupe at the Ministry of Foreign Trade. Having gained experience playing in non-professional productions, Oleg took the risk of applying to the Moscow Art Theater School, getting in on the first try.

Oleg Basilashvili in his youth

Basilashvili studied on the course of the famous Pavel Massalsky. Oleg Valerianovich recalled that life at the Moscow Art Theater was harsh, as if in a medieval monastery, and students, as the most fun and noisy time of life, passed by future specialists.

Movies

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Basilashvili has a happy creative biography. In his youth, he was not distinguished by outstanding external characteristics, with the exception of his height (181 cm), and he played mainly in episodes. The first to start a career was his wife Tatyana Doronina. Oleg had to wait 10 years for the attention of directors. Everything changed after the roles of a failed scientist in the play “Once More About Love” and King Louis XIV in Bulgakov’s “Molière”.

Then, in his filmography, pictures appeared that were recognizable from the first minutes and constituted the golden fund of cinema, and next to him on the set were famous directors and star partners.

The actor starred with Georgy Danelia, Eldar Ryazanov, Viktor Merezhko, Alexander Adabashyan and Vladimir Bortko. Anna Kovalchuk, Sergey Bezrukov, Anatoly Rudenko, Anna Chipovskaya and dozens of other representatives of the so-called millennial generation can boast of collaborating with him.

Today's youth and their parents enjoy “Office Romance” with Alisa Freindlikh and Andrei Myagkov, “Autumn Marathon” with Marina Neelova and Evgeny Leonov, “Station for Two” with Lyudmila Gurchenko and Nikita Mikhalkov. And in all these films Basilashvili has leading roles.

In the new century, the master's experience is also in demand. “Liquidation”, “Azazel”, “Gangster Petersburg”, “Palm Sunday” - in each film Oleg Valerianovich demonstrates the breadth of his role and the depth of elaboration of the image. His heroes, if necessary, are benevolent and cunning, with a sense of humor and detached from the world, firm in their convictions and flexible in their opportunism.

In order to feel the character’s condition, Basilashvili is ready to visit a psychiatric clinic, as happened with the drama “We Didn’t Expect.”

In 2013, the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater troupe assigned the actor the position of artistic director after the previous one, Temur Chkheidze, left for Tbilisi. But Oleg Valerianovich refused for health reasons. The master of the stage's integrity, honesty, and attitude to business manifested itself in another form - he was elected as a deputy of the RSFSR and ran for the State Duma. He was offered the post of Minister of Culture, but this very culture outweighed politics.

Now Basilashvili’s point of view regarding what is happening in the country differs from the opinion of the majority. It is not for nothing that, unlike a number of colleagues who were included in the “black lists” of the Ukrainian authorities, the name of the People’s Artist of the USSR was included in the “white” lists. There are citizens “who were not afraid to stand on the side of truth, justice and simple human conscience,” explained the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

According to Vladimir Bortko, opposing views do not prevent Oleg Valerianovich from finding common ground with people, because the understanding of good and bad in art is the same, regardless of other preferences.

Personal life

The actor did not immediately find happiness in his personal life. The first wife is fellow student and stage colleague Tatyana Doronina. The young people got married while they were students at the Moscow Art Theater School and lived together for 8 years. When feelings cooled, they divorced peacefully, without mutual offense, remaining friends.

Doronina will then write a book, “The Diary of an Actress,” in which she will talk about unborn twins - a boy and a girl.

With his second wife Galina Mshanskaya, Oleg raised two children. At the time of their acquaintance, the journalist had just separated from her first husband. Basilashvili saw her during a live broadcast, when he was relaxing while watching TV with his friend Pavel Luspekayev.

They lived in a civil marriage for two years, and then got married, and celebrated their golden wedding in 2011. Daughters Olga and Ksenia followed in their mother’s footsteps. The eldest, who took the surname Mshanskaya, is an economist by training and works on St. Petersburg television.

Ksenia studied at the acting department for a year, then switched to philology. Moreover, she acted like Ilyinskaya, so that no one would guess about her relationship with the celebrity. The youngest representative of the family is married to an employee of the Rusnano corporation, works on the radio and is raising her son Timofey and daughter Marinika, Basilashvili’s grandchildren.

According to Galina, her husband is a homebody and prefers to spend his free time at his dacha on the Gulf of Finland.

Oleg Basilashvili is 85 years old!

yandex.ru Oleg Basilashvili, a famous and beloved Soviet actor, is celebrating his anniversary this year. The artist turns 85 years old. Who is he - the gloomy Woland or the prosaic Samokhvalov?

The talented actor played a number of memorable characters, so loved by many viewers: the indecisive Andrei Buzykin in “Autumn Marathon” , the active and cunning Samokhvalov in “Office Romance” , the honest and naive pianist Platon Ryabinin in “Station for Two” and, of course, the great hoaxer Woland in The Master and Margarita . Tatiana's talent was immediately noticed by several theaters, which invited her to work for them immediately after graduation. But at that time, her lover was not so successful and was assigned to the drama theater of Stalingrad (now Volgograd). Doronina had no choice but to sacrifice all her creative possibilities for the sake of marriage and leave with Basilashvili. However, there, in the south of Russia, the couple’s career did not work out, and in 1959 the actors moved to Leningrad.

Oleg Basilashvili got a job at the Lenin Komsomol Theater, and Tatyana Doronina got a job at the Bolshoi Drama Theater. Basilashvili’s biography in the cinema at that time was not distinguished by bright ups. And soon the couple’s relationship began to go wrong. In 1963 the couple separated. In a disagreement, Oleg blamed his wife for everything, believing that her character had changed under the influence of another theater and married life. However, later Doronina, in her book “The Diary of an Actress,” described the moment when she realized that her husband was cheating on her:

“At the table when we entered, an actor and an actress were sitting, somewhat excited by the feast and each other. The piquancy of the situation was obvious, it filled, was the atmosphere of an unclean room. Oleg’s “otherness” from himself was obvious and embarrassed him. Oleg wore the stigma with the name “everything is permitted”, still shy, not feeling it from the inside, not understanding the seriousness of the disease with which he was infected. The actor’s ambiguous views and the cynicism of his humor were aggravated by the actress’s kindness towards me. The tenderness of a cowardly bitch who is afraid that she will be kicked out, and most importantly, they have the right to kick her out.”

The artists lived together for eight years.

In the theater, Oleg Valerianovich established himself as a talented comedy actor. Among the most notable performances with his participation are “The Inspector General,” “Summer Residents,” “The Pickwick Club” and “Enough Simplicity for Every Wise Man.” However, the breakthrough in the actor’s film career was his famous role in Eldar Ryazanov’s comedy “Office Romance.” The film was a resounding success, and Oleg Valerianovich instantly became the star of the Soviet television screen.

The list of his stellar film works is extensive, including such films as:

Basilashvili’s personal life was full of short-term affairs, but the main woman in his life after his divorce from his first wife became journalist Galya Mshanskaya. She worked in the St. Petersburg branch of the VGRTC. At first, the actor and journalist lived in a civil marriage for two years, and then got married. In their marriage they had two daughters - Olga and Ksenia. In 2011, Galina and Oleg celebrated their golden wedding.
