Alexander Barykin died of coronary heart disease in 2011 at the age of 59. Health problems were aggravated by the betrayal of his young wife. How did the musician begin his creative career, and where did he spend his last years?
The founder of Soviet reggae, Alexander Barykin, died suddenly in 2011. The musician’s death came as a surprise to many fans of the USSR pop music. Coronary heart disease is the main cause of Barykin’s death.
The musician was relatively young and did not live long enough to reach retirement age. Until his last day, the artist had an energetic and positive character. But few people knew how heavy his soul was after the betrayal that he experienced shortly before his death. Alexander Barykin came to the end of his life on yet another tour.
Childhood
Not much is known about the early years of the future musician. He was born in the Tyumen region, in the former city of Berezovo, and now a village, in 1952. In addition to Sasha, another son, Vasily, was growing up in the family. It is interesting that both Alexander Barykin’s father and mother were also called Sashami.
When both sons were still just children, the Byrykin family—that’s what Alexander’s real name sounds like—moved to Lyubertsy, Moscow region. The future musician spent his childhood and youth there, where he grew up.
In addition to the general education school, young Sasha also attended a music school. He was interested in music since childhood. He started writing poetry early. In the music school, he learned to play a wonderful instrument - the domra, but he hasn’t sung yet - that will come to Sasha a little later.
Already during his school years, together with a team of like-minded comrades, he organized his first team called “Allegro”. The guys performed at various school events, as well as on dance floors in the city and, admittedly, were in pretty good demand. That's when, for the first time, young Alexander began to compose songs based on his poems - and perform them. So by the time he graduated from school, Sasha knew quite specifically who he wanted to be and where he needed to go.
First steps in music
Immediately after graduating from school, Alexander was drafted into the army. He repaid his debt to his homeland first in Kaluga, and then in the Moscow Military District. Having gotten rid of his debts, he entered where he wanted: Gnesinka. Later, Sasha will also graduate from the Krasnodar Institute of Culture in absentia, receiving a degree in directing public events.
After graduating from Gnesinka, Alexander became a professional musician. By that time, he had already written extensively and actively, both poetry and songs, and used not only his own works, but also the works of other authors (for example, Alexander Barykin’s song “Bouquet,” beloved by many, in the original is a poem by the wonderful poet Nikolai Rubtsov). Not all beginning performers are immediately lucky enough to “get hooked” and become famous, but Barykin was lucky. He ended up in the Muscovites ensemble; He did not perform with him for long, but managed to establish himself as a good musician and professional composer. This happened in seventy-three; in the same year, a few months later, Alexander left the above-mentioned team in order to join the group “Jolly Fellows”.
Childhood and adolescence
Alexander Barykin, a famous musical figure of the Soviet era, was born on February 18, 1952. This happened in the small village of Berezovo . His father's name is Alexander Alexandrovich , and his mother's name is Alexandra Georgievna . Some time after the birth of his son, Barykin and his immediate relatives moved to Lyubertsy . In the Moscow region, the future singer graduated from school No. 9. Alexander also studied at a music school, where he took domra lessons.
With mom as a child
his first musical group “Allegro” when he was in high school. Together with the rest of the team members, he performed on a variety of dance floors. During the same period, the young man began to write songs , which were based exclusively on his poems. After Alexander received the status of a professional composer , he worked on poems for his own songs extremely rarely.
The singer’s army life began with service in the missile forces near Kaluga. Subsequently, he was transferred to air defense ensemble
In the army
Alexander Barykin was able to receive a decent education , successfully completing his studies at the famous Gnessin School. A high level of creative abilities allowed him to master the profession of “director of public events” in absentia. At that time, the singer studied at the Krasnodar Institute of Culture.
In young age
In various groups
Until the end of the seventies, Sasha Barykin did not think about either solo work or creating his own band. In six years, from 1973 to 1979, Alexander managed to change three musical groups - in search of something that would become “his.”
Barykin worked in “Merry Fellows” - the group that brought him fame and made a name - until 1976. It was as part of the “Guys” that he sang David Tukhmanov’s song “Invitation to a Journey,” which made him famous and now has every right to be among the best of Alexander Barykin.
After three years of work in the “Jolly Fellows”, the twenty-four-year-old musician left the team because he received an invitation to the “Gems” group. However, he did not stay there for long either - a year later he joined the Sochi ensemble “Pearls”, and in March 1979 he returned “to his native harbor” - he again joined the “Jolly Fellows”. However, an idea was already ripening in his head - and six months later, in August, Alexander Barykin parted ways with the “Guys” - this time forever.
Rock band "Carnival"
Sasha always liked rock music more than pop music. Arriving at Gems, he met their guitarist, Vladimir Kuzmin, who thought in exactly the same way. Having become friends based on common interests, the friends thought: why not start their own group with their own music? Thus, in 1980, the rock band “Carnival” appeared, winning the love of many listeners. The band of Barykin and Kuzmin very quickly became known throughout the Union, largely also because tape reels with recordings of their songs were actively distributed.
There were four people in Carnival. With this lineup they released their debut album in 1981. However, a year later, the group was on the verge of collapse - the friendship between Barykin and Kuzmin cracked, they decided that they could not work together. The rights to the name of the group remained with Alexander Barykin, but Kuzmin took its members with him - and Barykin had to recruit a new lineup. However, Alexander soon resumed relations with Vladimir - and later the musicians more than once took part in concerts and creative evenings with each other.
Youngest daughter Evgenia
Evgenia was born in the second marriage of the famous singer. Her mother Nelly Vlasova is a tax employee. Unlike the first relationship, this marriage lasted only 4 years.

Zhenya was raised by the artist's mother-in-law, because his young wife had serious musical ambitions. Later it will become clear that there was a calculation in this regard, and this nuance led to betrayal and the quite expected separation of the spouses. But this time Alexander did not refuse financial support from his family.
14-year-old Evgenia Barykina is still a schoolgirl. A small copy of the singer barely remembers what he was like. But he dreams of continuing his father’s career in the future.
"Rock studio"
While still on the staff of the “Jolly Fellows”, Alexander Barykin traveled with them throughout the Union. But this was not enough, I wanted more. However, traveling abroad was difficult in Soviet times...
In 1985, another sensational group in the country, “Rock Studio”, was going on a foreign tour together with the Lenin Komsomol Theater. It cannot be said for sure that Barykin was motivated by a personal desire to see the world, but by a most curious coincidence, it was then that he suddenly and without explanation dissolved his “Carnival”, and he himself became a member of the “Rock Studio”. When it happened that the voyage did not take place and no one went anywhere, Alexander left the above-mentioned team and brought Carnival back to life.
Funeral
On March 29, 2011, a civil memorial service for Alexander Alexandrovich took place, which was held at the Moscow Variety Theater. Stars and stage comrades came to see off the singer on his last journey: Vladimir Kuzmin, Alexander Buynov, Yuri Antonov, Lev Leshchenko, Nikolai Rastorguev, Sergei Mazaev, Sergei Minaev, Lolita Milyavskaya, Larisa Dolina and others.
The coffin with the deceased was placed on the stage. Next to the coffin stood the guitar of the singer and composer. People carried flowers in tears, not believing what was happening. Nelly's last wife never appeared at the Variety Theater. But she came to her husband’s funeral service in the chapel of Galina the Martyr at the Troekurovsky cemetery. By this act, she further turned Alexander’s friends against herself.
Joseph Kobzon took charge of organizing the funeral. After the church ceremony, the artist’s body was interred in the 6th section of the Troekurovsky cemetery, on the artists’ alley. In 2012, with the personal savings of Alla Pugacheva and Andrei Konovalov (mayor of Novokuybyshevsk and friend), a tombstone was erected for Barykin.
Best songs
Barykin's songs have been alive for decades, many of them have gone to the people. One can name among the best compositions of Alexander Barykin “Airport”, which was incredibly popular, and even now this song will be played on the radio. By the way, it was written by the former keyboard player of “Carnival” Ruslan Gorobets. The above-mentioned “Bouquet” is also a kind of calling card of the performer. And it was Barykin who was the first to sing the song “Raft”, which brought popularity to Yuri Loza. Don’t forget the more lyrical, touching composition, where the music was composed by Alexander Barykin himself - “Beyond That River”. This song appeared already in the nineties of the last century, before the musician had to take a break from creativity. More on this later.
Late twentieth century
Three months after the Chernobyl accident, Alexander Barykin came there with a concert. This had a negative impact on the artist’s vocal cords and significantly undermined his health. His voice began to disappear, it was difficult to sing - and ultimately Alexander was forced to stop performing and recording songs until he restored his ligaments. The break lasted from the ninety-first year (this is the year of the final collapse of Carnival) to the ninety-fourth year.
For the next two years, Alexander Barykin worked actively and fruitfully, he released three discs, but the old illness made itself felt again - and until the beginning of the new century, the musician did not record any songs or discs.
In the new century
From 2001 to 2011, Alexander Barykin released six albums. Several large creative evenings also took place - one in honor of the thirtieth anniversary of Carnival, the other in honor of its own fiftieth anniversary. He actively performed and toured without intending to end his career, but life decreed otherwise.
At the end of March 2011, while on tour in Orenburg, right during a concert, Barykin had a second heart attack. The singer was hospitalized, but could not be saved. The artist was buried in Moscow.
Eldest son - Georgy Barykin
Barykin owes the birth of his eldest son, Georgy, to his first wife, Galina. This event happened back in 1974. The singer’s mother, Alexandra Georgievna, provided enormous assistance in raising the boy. She still believes that Gosha is her most beloved grandson and dotes on him.
The married life of this couple lasted over three decades; Galina and Alexander have been together since school.
The matured George decided to maintain a relationship with his father even after he left for another woman. The guy went abroad, speaks excellent English, mastered DJing and wrote several English-language dance compositions.
Despite the great desire of Barykin’s first son to become a professional singer, he was unable to surpass his father in terms of popularity. And his attempt to perform on the show “The Voice,” where he presented his own songs, was not crowned with the expected success.

Now Georgy and his family live in Lyubertsy and from time to time appear at concerts dedicated to his father. His daughter Elena chose theater school to study. Another creative personality is growing.
Personal life
The musician was married twice. His first wife was a girl named Galina. They had been friends since school, and had been married for almost thirty years. Their marriage produced two children - George and Kira, the difference between brother and sister is almost twenty years.
In 2005, after a divorce from his first wife, Barykin tied the knot of Hymen for the second time. His chosen one was a woman named Nelly, who worked with Alexander on some of his songs. A year later, they had a daughter, Zhenya, and shortly before Barykin’s death, his wife left him.
In addition to the “legitimate” children, the musician also has an illegitimate son, Timur. He plays music and is famous in the rap community.
This is the biography of Alexander Barykin, whose songs, no matter what, will live as long as people remember them.
Death of Alexander Barykin. Musician biography

In 1984 “Carnival” was included in the “black” list of ensembles published by the USSR Ministry of Culture. Carnival was banned from performing, and all scheduled concerts and tours were cancelled. With the assistance of D. Tukhmanov, who offered the group a new repertoire of his songs, the ensemble released the disc “Steps”. The disc was approved by the Arts Council.
