Yana Kudryavtseva: biography, husband, pregnancy

The youngest absolute champion in rhythmic gymnastics, Yana Kudryavtseva, already at the age of 15, won the world all-around final, breaking the record of the most famous Russian gymnast of our time, Alina Kabaeva, who earned this title at the age of 16. The bright career of the young record holder is a worthy adornment to the world history of a beautiful and truly feminine sport, allowing us to continue to declare the leading position of Russian sport in the main disciplines.

Honored Master of Sports, multiple winner of national and international competitions, winner of the World Cup and many championship titles, gymnast Yana Kudryavtseva became a record holder in the main categories of professional gymnastics at the very beginning of her career. Over the 3 years during which the girl competed on the world stage for the honor of Russia, Yana several times became the absolute champion in the individual all-around, having achieved such impressive success at a very young age.

Biography

Yana's father, Alexey Valentinovich Kudryavtsev, was a Soviet and then Russian swimmer, Honored Master of Sports, who received this honorary title in 1992. Alexey Kudryavtsev, who took prizes at the USSR Championships in 1990-1991 and earned gold for the Russian Olympic team at the 1992 Games in Barcelona, appreciated from personal experience all the unpleasant moments associated with professional sports.

According to Yana herself, Alexey Valentinovich at first did not want his daughter to follow in his footsteps and start playing sports seriously. Little Yana was sent to the swimming section in the general development group. Loving parents simply wanted the child to develop normally and improve his health. To develop correct posture and the foundation of a fit, athletic figure, Yana was enrolled in a gymnastics section taught by an acquaintance of Alexei Valentinovich. It was the first coach of the future champion who recognized the stunning potential of the little athlete as a child and persuaded her father to change his decision and allow his daughter to seriously engage in rhythmic gymnastics. Since that time, the biography of Yana Kudryavtseva has become inextricably linked with professional sports.

Childhood and youth

Yana Alekseevna Kudryavtseva, born in 1997, was born on September 30 in Moscow. Almost immediately, sports turned out to be little Yana’s main hobby, and over time, other activities both at school and in her free time faded into the background. Serious loads and the need to constantly consolidate and improve the acquired skills ultimately made rhythmic gymnastics something around which the rest of the life of the future champion is built. Already in middle school, a conscious and final choice is made in favor of playing sports, and in order to obtain future professional education, it is planned to study at the department of theory and methodology of gymnastics.

Parents were given a choice: school or gym

— Does your sister also want to become a gymnast?

— No, she plays tennis, but doesn’t show much hope. More for yourself. Therefore, her parents do not put pressure on her, they say: “Study, daughter, relax.” It was different for me. On the contrary, they told me that I should train. In the fourth grade I was even given a choice: school or gym. Studying fell into the background because it was impossible to combine it.

— They say that today’s gymnastics is not at all similar to what it was before. Do you agree?

— With each Olympic season, the rules and, as a result, gymnastics itself change greatly. Unfortunately, during the last Olympics in London I was a very small junior, so I didn’t compete there. But as a viewer, I notice that there are fewer and fewer elements, and more and more dance tracks. In some ways it becomes easier, in others it becomes more difficult, but we cannot say that these are some kind of unreal differences. It all depends on the person. For example, it’s easier for me to perform the elements, and for Rita Mamun to dance.

— Do you communicate with any of the Olympic champions?

— We communicate very well with Zhenya Kanaeva. Now she trains small children in Novogorsk. Sometimes he might pass by the site where the girls and I train and make some comments. We always listen and improve. After all, she is a two-time Olympic champion. In general, Zhenya is a personal example for me - in life, in character. She is very purposeful and always knew where she was going. I never allowed myself to relax, go somewhere, do something wrong, or go to bed at the wrong time. She has a strict regime that she has set for herself. It's very difficult.

— And Alina Kabaeva?

— I last saw Alina in Stuttgart at the World Championships. No more. She can come to some competitions, say hello, and support. But I never communicated closely with her.

— Which of our girls is your main rival?

— Sashka Soldatova, our number three. Outside the gym I communicate very well with Rita Mamun. We've been together for four years, shoulder to shoulder. We even always live in the same room. If we also competed in life, it would be very difficult.

— What helps you get ready before a performance?

— Before every competition, I talk to the subject. Maybe someone will think I'm crazy, but there are a lot of people who do this. We think this helps a lot.

— What does the red thread on your wrist mean?

“I’ve been wearing it for a very long time.” One unties, I tie the other. They say it helps against the evil eye or you can make a wish. If it breaks, it means it will be fulfilled.

First sporting successes

At the age of 10, Yana was awarded prizes in official national tournaments.
Her father’s connections and experience allowed Yana to train at the Olympic Reserve School, which provides young talents with the opportunity to participate in prestigious competitions. Already in 2008, at the age of 10, Yana won prizes in official national tournaments for younger age categories.

Kudryavtseva’s dazzling career in rhythmic gymnastics began with her participation in Russian junior competitions. Since 2008, the girl has regularly won junior championships, rising higher and higher in the ranking of young gymnasts in Russia. For several years, Yana Kudryavtseva’s performances have demonstrated a high level of training and rare talent when performing the most complex elements of rhythmic gymnastics.

Hero's Journey

The gymnast has participated in championships since 2009, but real fame came only in 2013. The first adult performance took place as part of the Grand Prix stage, held in Moscow. The girl managed to win the all-around.

The first adult victory was won at the European Championships in Austria. Yana managed to score 19 out of 20 points in the team tournament. The girl is officially recognized as the youngest winner. In the same championship, Yana took part in qualifying performances. Despite glitches in the sound, she won silver.

According to Irina Werner, who was Yana’s coach, 2014 was a difficult period for the girl. This is due to the fact that Kudryavtseva did not prepare enough for the competition. A little later, she realized the mistake and won gold.

2015 will be remembered by Instagram fans for Kudryavtseva’s performances in:

  • Portugal;
  • Romania;
  • Hungary;
  • Bulgaria.

Unfortunately, the gymnast broke her leg in the finals of the world championship, so she was unable to participate in several disciplines.

2016 was the last year for Yana in her sports career. She took part in the World Cup, but only in the third stage. The athlete won in most of the competitive programs.

Junior achievements

Along with victories in Russian competitions from 2009 to 2012, Yana Kudryavtseva’s track record included winning prizes at international tournaments. During her participation in youth competitions, Yana became the winner:

  • • Russian Junior Championship 2009;
  • • International tournament held in 2011 in Moscow with the Grand Prix series stage, Yana received gold in individual and team performances;
  • • Russian Championship 2011;
  • • Junior World Cup 2011, held in the Italian city of Pesaro.
  • • Russian Championship 2012;
  • • European Championship 2012, as a result of which Yana defeated other juniors in the ball program, and also won the all-around in the team performance.

Leading positions in the national sports rankings allowed us to seriously hope for participation in the 2021 Olympics. Kudryavtseva began performing on a par with adult athletes in competitions, the results of which influenced inclusion in the national team.

Olympic season

“Adult” competitions began for the future world champion in 2013 at the Grand Prix tournament. Yana won the all-around and received prizes in the main disciplines.

The next episode was participation in the World Championship stage, held in Sofia. Yana won several first places and the title of the first gymnast to achieve such impressive results during her debut. The next stage of the Cup brought the young talent a second consecutive gold in the all-around, first place for performing with the ball and second places for performing programs with gymnastic clubs and ribbon.

Kudryavtseva regularly conducts lessons and master classes not only in her native country, but also abroad.

The European Championships, held in Austria using new judging rules, allowed Yana to become the first gymnast to score 19 points out of a possible 20. At these competitions, Kudryavtseva replaced A. Merkulova and, together with other compatriots, won the championship in team performance. Yana became the youngest winner of the European Championship, repeating the success of Alina Kabaeva, who also earned the honorary title at the age of 15.

The 2013 World Cup final left the young athlete nervous during her qualifying rounds. For technical reasons, during exercises with ribbons, the sound was interrupted and the athlete had to start the performance again, which did not prevent her from winning over her rivals. In addition, Yana received a gold medal in the individual all-around and won silver for the ball and hoop programs, becoming the youngest absolute world champion.

year 2014

This period became quite difficult and stressful for Yana, since, according to coach Irina Werner, Kudryavtseva was not “fully prepared” for the competition. Sports success at the Moscow Grand Prix was shared equally with other favorites of the national team, Maria Titova and Margarita Mamun. Subsequently, Yana demonstrated the highest professional level, taking almost all the first places at all stages of the world championship, including the long-awaited gold in hoop exercises. Kudryavtseva again celebrated the anniversary European Cup as an absolute champion.

Yana’s talent was noted not only by the sports community. Kudryavtseva, together with a colleague from Switzerland, was chosen as an ambassador of elegance for the famous watch brand Longines. The Russian Federation of Journalists awarded Yana the “Silver Doe” award as one of the country’s strongest athletes.

2015

The 2015 season consisted of brilliant performances at the World Cup stages in Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Italy and Portugal. In the finals of the world championship, Yana broke her leg and had to give up competition in several disciplines. In addition to a severe foot injury, 2015 brought Yana the title of record holder of the 1st European Games in Baku for the number of first places.

2016

The 2021 Olympic season itself began for Kudryavtseva with a non-competitive program at the international Baltic Hoop tournament. Officially, Yana entered the World Cup at the third stage. This brought gold in the all-around; Kudryavtseva was exempted from participating in other disciplines. The following stages of the world championship were marked by victories in almost all competitive programs, with the exception of silver in the all-around.

Performance at the European Championships again made Yana the absolute champion in the individual all-around. The Olympic Games were ahead, and Yana could not miss participating in them.

The severe consequences of the injury suffered in 2015 could not overcome Yana’s determination to participate in the Olympics in Brazil. Kudryavtseva managed to take second place in the all-around performances, slightly losing to her rivals during exercises with gymnastic clubs.

Olympic period

In the 2014 season, Yana Kudryavtseva participated in the first capital grand prix tournament. The results were less impressive than before: third and second places. The famous gymnastics coach Irina Viner in an interview named Yana one of the three leading athletes of the Russian national team. Also included in the “golden three” were Maria Titova and Margarita Mamun. However, the coach also stated that Kudryavtseva was insufficiently prepared for the competition.

The competition in the French city of Thieu went more smoothly for Yana. The girl received a number of awards:

  • “gold” in the all-around, as well as in the final with the ball and hoop;
  • “silver” for mastering clubs.

The period of the World Cup in Stutgart, Germany, brought Kudryavtseva 4 gold medals in the all-around and for mastery of clubs, hoop, and ball. The Grand Prix in the Israeli city of Holon allowed the girl to take 4 more prizes: first, second and third.

The girl became the absolute champion during the World Cup in Pesaro, and then at the anniversary, 30th European Championship. In 2015, the girl won gold in Stutgart - at the world championship in rhythmic gymnastics in the individual all-around. The following year, Yana demonstrated her skills beyond competition in the Baltic Hoop competition and won medals in a number of other international competitions.

In 2021, at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the girl became a silver medalist.

End of a short but bright career

At the end of 2021, Yana’s coach announces a possible end to her professional career due to injuries. Later, an official notice of the end of the young champion’s sports career, submitted to the International Gymnastics Federation at the end of the Olympic season, becomes public knowledge.

The successes of Yana Kudryavtseva were highly appreciated by the leadership of the Russian Federation. In August 2021, she was awarded the medal “For Services to the Fatherland, 1st Class.” In addition, Yana, like her father, holds the honorary title “Honored Master of Sports of the Russian Federation.”

The severe consequences of the injury suffered in 2015 could not overcome Yana’s determination to participate in the Olympics in Brazil.

Gymnastics

The first victory came to the young gymnast at the age of 11. Since 2008, she began to win junior tournaments within the country one after another. In 2009 - in Dmitrov. In 2011 and 2012 - in Samara and Kazan.

And the next year, Yana managed to win gold in the team all-around, where Yulia Sinitsyna, Alexandra Soldatova and Diana Borisova performed with her.

Yana Kudryavtseva came to adult sports in 2013. In Israeli Holon, she won bronze in the hoop exercise and gold in the all-around. The World Cup in Bulgaria was also a success. Here, in Sofia, the athlete managed to beat her compatriot Margarita Mamun and the Bulgarian gymnast Silvia Miteva.

In Minsk, Yana received a second gold medal in the all-around and silver in the clubs exercises.

2013 turned out to be a truly breakthrough and turning point in her sports career for the gymnast. In Vienna, at the European Championships, Kudryavtseva replaced her colleague Alexandra Merkulova. In a trio with Margarita Mamun and Daria Svatkovskaya, the girl managed to win gold and score the highest number of points according to the new judging system: 19 out of 20.

In Turkish Izmir, the sports biography of Yana Kudryavtseva was enriched with a new bright page. The athlete managed to repeat her past achievements, becoming the absolute champion in the individual all-around, and received a special prize from the Swiss watch brand “Longines” for her natural charm and elegance. The Russian gymnast, together with her Swiss colleague Julia Steingruber, was chosen as Longines ambassadors of elegance.

The girl started the Olympic season with victories. At the World Cup in Pesaro, the athlete won the all-around and ultimately did not participate in the finals of the individual events. In Tashkent, Yana won all programs, and in Sofia she took first place in the all-around and in exercises with a ball and ribbon.

Yana Kudryavtseva went to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in excellent shape. Many predicted her victory. And Yana still climbed to the podium, winning a silver medal in the individual all-around.

Yana Kudryavtseva at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio

In the same 2021, Yana won the European Championships in Israel. The girl performed exercises with a hoop to the song “Horse” by the Lyube group. The gymnast’s performance was breathtaking and gave the audience goosebumps.

Back in 2015, at the World Cup stages, the girl felt discomfort in her leg. But, overcoming the pain, she won 5 gold medals. Later it turned out that Kudryavtseva had an injury - a broken leg (foot). And in 2021, after the Olympic championship, it was announced that the athlete was retiring from her career.

Yana Kudryavtseva now

Sport has firmly taken a central place in Yana’s life since approaching her first successes in iconic competitions. The bright star of the modern history of Russia receives professional education at the department of St. Petersburg University named after P. F. Lesgaft. Kudryavtseva regularly conducts lessons and master classes not only in her native country, but also abroad: in Mexico, Egypt and Spain. Yana is in excellent physical shape and periodically pampers her fans with demonstration performances and photographs on social network profiles.

The relationship between Kudryavtseva and Yusupov

Despite constant training and performances, Kudryavtseva began an affair with basketball player Mikhail Kulagin. The athletes did not hide their relationship. Many believed that the wedding was just around the corner, but this did not happen.

One day, photographs of a basketball player simply disappeared from the athlete’s Instagram because the girl broke up with him. The official reason for the breakup was not given. In one of the interviews, the gymnast said that she was simply tired of Kulagin’s betrayals.

After completing her sports career, Yana decided to devote more time to her personal life. Soon she met football player Arthur Yusupov. As confirmation of the romance, Kudryavtseva added common photographs to social networks. As in the first case, the romance did not last long. The girl says that Arthur is a good boy, but his views on life are different.

Personal life

Yana grew up in an era of rapid development of digital and communication technologies, so her fans often got a reason to gossip about the personal life of the pretty champion, trying to guess what kind of guy was captured next to the young beauty and how long Yana would have to remain unmarried. The champion actively uses social networks, posting current photos with thematic comments. At the same time, the gymnast has repeatedly stated that she cannot imagine a man next to her who is far from sports activities.

Margarita Mamun is considered Yana's best friend.

Photos of Kudryavtseva in the company of young national sports stars regularly appear on the Internet. Despite rather sparse comments and rare interviews directly related to her personal life, at various times the absolute champion was credited with having affairs with basketball player Mikhail Kulagin and football player Arthur Yusupov.

Since the beginning of 2021, network resources have been persistently reporting that the legendary gymnast has a serious relationship with hockey player Dmitry Kurgyshev. Yana’s chosen one is 8 years older than her and numerous fans of the talented beauty were confident in their imminent wedding. And this event did not take long to happen: the wedding of Yana Kudryavtseva and Dmitry Kurgyshev took place on July 7, 2021. Now Yana is officially married. On behalf of our Ogimnastike.com community we would like to congratulate her on this significant event.

Yana’s passion for sports also extends to her free time. She prefers active recreation, enjoying cross-country racing on an ATV in the company of her friends. Kudryavtseva’s best friend is considered to be Margarita Mamun, a Russian gymnast who has repeatedly performed with Yana, including as a rival.

KUDRYAVTSEVANAALEKSEEVNA

Yana Kudryavtseva is a famous Russian athlete, winner of 11 gold medals and the title of the youngest world champion in rhythmic gymnastics.

Kudryavtseva Yana

A girl was born in 1997 in Moscow. Her father was also involved in sports, namely swimming, therefore, when the girl was 4 years old, Alexey Kudryavtsev sent her to rhythmic gymnastics under the guidance of his familiar coach, who was just recruiting a new group. Her father did not even foresee that Yana would become a world champion. Yana herself is grateful to her father for the tempered character that was developed during training.

Yana's career began in 2008, after which the winnings began to flow like a river. No one could have expected that the girl would follow in her father’s footsteps and choose the path of an athlete. While still at school, she had to make a choice in favor of sports, without which today Yana cannot live a day. Serious training in the gym and modeling routines required many hours, and lessons were postponed more and more willingly each time.

Kudryavtseva began to receive her first victories after 10 years. Since 2011, the girl, together with her coach, traveled all over the country and collected winnings at competitions among youth. After 14 years, the young athlete began competing in international junior tournaments. But the girl was not only the best in gymnastics, she was also fond of all-around events, thanks to which she managed to win gold at the World Cup.

Since the age of 16, the girl has been participating in the senior league. In 2013, she took bronze at the sports games in Israel for her hoop routine, and in the all-around, Yana Kudryavtseva managed to get gold. The debut season was quite successful, and at the next World Cup, which was held in Bulgaria, the girl took gold in gymnastics, and at the sports games in Belarus, Kudryavtseva won a second gold medal in all-around and a silver medal in the clubs routine.

Luck smiled on the girl in Vienna too. Due to unforeseen situations, Yana had to replace Alexandra Merkulova and perform in a trio with Margarita Mamun and Daria Svatkovskaya. The girls won gold by collecting the maximum number of points.

Kyiv met a girl with obstacles. During her performance, the sound disappeared from time to time and Yana had to continue counting. But Kudryavtseva coped with this too. This competition brought the novice athlete another gold.

A club championship took place in Japan, at which Yana, along with Margarita Mamun and Yulia Bravikova, were representatives of the Gazprom club. The gymnasts won, ahead of the Belarusian national teams. Kudryavtseva also won gold, but in the individual all-around.

2014 began for Kudryavtseva with participation in the first tournament of the Grand Prix series in Moscow. There she became third in the all-around and second in the hoop and clubs finals. At the next competition in Thieu, Kudryavtseva excelled with hoop and ball in the all-around in two finals and took silver in the exercise with clubs.

In April in Penza at the Russian Championship, Yana Kudryavtseva became the absolute champion in the individual all-around. In May, at competitions in Corbeil-Eson, as well as in Tashkent, the gymnast was twice second in the all-around, letting her Margarita Mamun pass ahead, and at subsequent stages in Minsk and Sofia she again became first. At the thirtieth anniversary European Championship, Kudryavtseva also celebrated her victory as the absolute champion. At the final stage of the World Cup in Kazan, Yana took four golds and one silver.

Arriving back in Izmir, the athlete again won the absolute championship in the individual all-around, and took a pleasant and unexpected prize from the Swiss watch brand “Longines”. Yana, together with the gymnast from Switzerland, Julia Steingruber, was awarded the title of brand representatives.

In 2015, Kudryavtseva performed at 5 stages of the World Cup: in Lisbon, Pesaro, Budapest, and at the stages in Bucharest and Sofia she won gold in all programs. In Stuttgart, Yana, with an excellent result, took the gold medal in the individual all-around at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.

In 2021, she began with non-competitive performances at the international Baltic Hoop tournament. At the third stage of the World Cup in Pesaro she won a medal in the all-around. Due to the decisions of the coaching staff, Yana did not further participate in the finals of individual events. But in Tashkent the girl took prizes in all programs, and in Sofia she even received first place for her routine with balls and ribbons. The European Championship brought the girl the title of absolute champion in the field of individual all-around.

Yana Kudryavtseva’s career is over, just like most athletes who don’t know how to stop in time. Due to the severe consequences of a broken leg in 2021, the gymnast had to renounce her favorite activity. Today the girl teaches at a sports school.

The girl notes that while doing gymnastics, she did not have enough time for guys. But still, she managed to be in a relationship with CSKA basketball player Mikhail Kulagin. Kudryavtseva’s Instagram was filled with photos of flowers and beautiful gifts. But very soon they broke up. The couple stayed together for about several months. The reason for the breakup is said to be Kulagin's betrayal.

Kudryavtseva Yana with her husband

In 2021, Kudryavtseva posted a post on her Instagram page where they announced their relationship with Zenit football player Artur Yusupov. Fans were waiting for the continuation of the novel, but the wedding never took place. At the end of 2021, the girl announced the breakup of the union.

In 2021, Kudryavtseva met a man with whom she gave birth to a daughter, Eva. The new chosen one’s name is Dmitry Kugryshev, a famous Russian hockey player. Recently, on their social networks, the couple announced an imminent replenishment - the guys are expecting a second child.
