Fred Trump founded the Elizabeth Trump & Son Co. construction company in 1927. It would later become the current The Trump Organization. Donald has two brothers and two sisters. Three of them are still alive. Brother Fred Jr. died in 1981. Another brother, Robert, is retired and lives in New York. Sister Elizabeth works in banking. Another sister, Marianne, is a senior judge on a U.S. circuit court of appeals.

After being elected president, Trump thanked his family, including his brother and sisters, for their support in his victory speech. Melania Knavs was born in the Yugoslav town of Sevnica, in what is now Slovenia. She began her modeling career at the age of 16 - she was noticed on the street by a fashion photographer.
